A Face to the Name
Date: Thursday October 29 - After Classes
Mentioning: @Arissa WrightCade hurried out of class that day anxious to meet his mysterious Quill Pal. They had planned to meet by the lake to eat some treats and talk. Cade made sure to bring his sketchbook. He had started on a sketch of the castle a day or two before, but now he needed to fill out the tree line. He quickly needed to head to the Ravenclaw common room and pick up his art pencils before racing back down to the ground floor.
Exiting the castle walls, Cade bounded over to the lake edge and over some rocks. Finding a comfortable perch that had a great view of the castle. With a sharp drop in his heart, he remembered her request for pastries. He had forgotten. And there was no way he was going all the way back to the castle. He had no idea where to find pastries if they weren't already in the great hall. Mealtime wasn't for another two hours, so he wasn't sure if the hall was even open. A question he would save in his mind for later inspection. He opened his school bag to find his sketchbook. Pulling it out and a pencil, occasionally keeping an eye out for the Slytherin girl he very much was anxious to meet. He wondered what she'd be like in person. She said she was short. But Cade had some growing to do as well. She also mentioned she was blonde. But that description could fit many different girls. He supposed he would have to rely on her finding him. How many other dark-haired Ravenclaw boys were drawing by the lake at this time? There was no one around.
Relaxing further he admired the way the afternoon light hit the castle walls. This really was an amazing school. He was reminded of that fact every day. And it was so big! Not just the walls but the student body. It seemed every day there was a new face. He thought he'd met a fair amount of first years his first week, but he was obviously mistaken. Cade smiled to himself, his assumptions about this school were never quite accurate. He should keep an open and ready mind. Every day was a new adventure after all.

Arissa Wright sauntered along the path that would lead her to the Great Lake. She had just finished with her Charm Class and promptly dropped off her books before going here. Despite the fact that she wanted to run as she was already a few minutes behind the schedule, Arissa can't do it. She was definitely far from being athletic, so it didn't surprise her that her legs protested when she tried to increase her speed; walking from the third floor to the basements, and to the Great Lake, has definitely take a toll on her legs.
Fortunately for her, it was quite windy, and she welcomed the wind blowing through her blonde tresses, as well as the feeling of fresh air on her face. It managed to reduce her fatigue even if it's just a little, as she picked up her pace when she saw the sight of the Great Lake.
The place where she will meet her Quill Pal.
Truthfully, Arissa was looking forward to meet her mysterious Quill Pal. They have been exchanging letters for quite a while, and it took them this long to finally decided to meet each other. Arissa was a wary girl, and she usually put up a good defense when meeting with a stranger. However, the Ravenclaw boy, Cade Darkbound had been corresponding with her and had at least, knew her a little. She should just spared him from all those pointless diplomatic talk and just converse with him normally. Something told her he won't care about those anyway.
'Gangly boy. Gangly boy. Doesn't seem too hard. This area was practically empty.'She mused inwardly.
When the corner of her eyes managed to catch a figure sitting by the rocks, her lips quirked up into a smile as she approached the figure, who seemed to be engrossed with his sketchbook.
"Cade Darkbound?" She questioned, a smile was evident on her face. "Hello. My name is Arissa Wright."
"Elegant and unruffled, impassioned yet unmoved...That's what I am, and that's what I must be."

@Arissa WrightCade was just nearly finished with outlining the tree line on the other side of the lake when Arissa called his name. His eyes snapped up from his sketchbook as he took her in. She looked happy to see him. And that tugged his lips to a warm smile. He snapped his sketchbook shut and stood to greet her. He was a head taller than her. But she more than made up for it with her incredibly important aura.
"Pleasure, I'm Cade... as you no doubt already surmised." He shook her hand trying to be as polite as possible. Then he silently scolded himself, this was no interview. He could be more casual! His ears turned pink and Cade let go of her hand to put some distance between them. "I'm glad we can finally meet in person." He wasn't lying, it was actually great to see her. She wasn't exactly what he imagined her to look like. He always thought her look haughty and vain from her letters. But obviously, that wasn't the case. She had an amiable face with striking grey eyes. "Er... what do you want to do? I've nearly finished my drawing." He leaned up against the rocks facing her. "Perhaps you can talk to me while I finish up? Tell me about your favorite classes." He once more picked up his pencil and looked at her with anticipation.

Cade Darkbound was quite...tall. That was Arissa's first thought. With his thin frame and very pale skin, he's definitely far from being intimidating. Cade didn't have the usual confident posture that Arissa was used to see on her fellow Slytherins, but on the other hand, he have the friendly aura that caused Arissa to easily drop her guards. It was quite...a pleasant feeling for a change.
"Likewise. I'm pleased to finally meet my mysterious Quill Pal as well. As charming as the mystery allure is, it's not as fun as meeting in person," Arissa said as she return the handshake as cordially as it was bestowed. As an afterthought, she muttered, "Oh, and please forgive me for my tardiness just now. It's quite a long journey from the class." She let out a small chuckle at the sight of the flustered boy who proceed to step back after the greetings.
Her grey eyes were glistened in amusement as she remarked, "You can just act like you normally do, Cade. We have exchanged letters for quite a while already. I don't think we need any more formalities."
She tucked a strand of her blonde hair which was blown by the wind as she find a suitable rock to sit down. Her grey eyes gaze around the surroundings, and found no other person there. It appears that they have chose a correct time for their meetings, as some people really like to hang out at the Great Lake because of its calming atmosphere. When Cade mentioned about finishing up his drawing, Arissa raised her brow. She did mention about bringing his sketchbook to ease the awkward atmosphere that may happen, and it seemed he did heed to her advice. Well, she was looking forward to see his drawing too.
As Cade asked about her favorite class, Arissa frowned thoughtfully. "My favorite class? I would say Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms and Transfiguration. It was quite...fun, I would say. The Dancing Feet Spell was amusing, to say the least. There's actually a boy who accidentally cast the spell on the table instead of the keychain, and it sure danced admirably. If I have to give my verdict, I would say the table surpassed the toy doll that the Professor used as a demonstration in terms of dancing." Her brow quirked up in amusement as she recalled the scene.
Turning her head back to face the boy, she asked, "What about you then? Anything interesting to share about your class? I was trying to find you actually, when Ravenclaw and Slytherin shared classes. But I can't seem to recall ever seeing you there."
"Elegant and unruffled, impassioned yet unmoved...That's what I am, and that's what I must be."

@Arissa WrightCade laughed when Arissa described the table dancing, which was far more entertaining than his class. He didn't recall many mishaps for that spell. "My favorite is Charms. I don't know if I ever told you but I thought it could be fascinating to become a spell inventor when I'm older. Could you imagine if I made a really useful spell? I could be on my very own Chocolate Frog card!" Cade smiled at that ridiculous thought. He wondered what his description would say? Spell inventor at the ripe age of 11? Cade shook his head at himself, it was a stupid dream job, but one that he took to heart. His goal in school would be to master all the spells. But there was one area he was rather weak in.
"Transfiguration is way more difficult than I thought it would be. Even when we're starting so small. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who couldn't transfigure a match to a needle."Cade looked over the water, the wind blowing his bangs from his eyes. Then he wondered why he hadn't seen Arissa in classes either. The most logical answer would be he didn't know exactly what she looked like before now. And then there was the added fact that Cade always situated himself to the very front row in the leftmost desk. He didn't have a view of the other students. It was a seating arrangement he stuck to since he started going to school.
"I reckon it's because we didn't know the others face yet." Cade looked at her almost as if to memorize her face right then and there. "But now that we do, I'll be sure to look for you and say a quick hello." Cade grinned at her for a moment. Then he started drawing leaves on his trees. Looking up occasionally to see where the light hit them. "By the way, do you have any idea what you would like to do as an adult?" He paused and looked up at her again. Wondering what she would say and how she would react. Cade knew as a first-year, she would have loads of time to figure out what she wanted to do. But she might have had a dream job, that while not practical could always be something to answer with.

Arissa let out a small chuckle at that statement. Being a spell inventor was truly an excellent ambition; having people using your creation must be very fulfilling. Arissa could relate to that. But... She darted her eyes from the lake to face the boy again.
"Chocolate Frogs, huh? " She said in a teasing voice. "I guess I better keep my eye own the future celebrity besides me then." Her mischievous mood was definitely high right now. Arissa was very quick in terms of listening to gossips or material for future teasing, so she can't actually let this one go.
Then, she turned her attention back to the rippling water before her and spoke, "Quite a big dream you have there, but I wouldn't say it was impossible. " After all, everyone started with a simple dream, whether it had the potential to go further depends on that dreamer himself.
When she was asked about her ambition, Arissa stared blankly at the tentacles of the Great Squid, briefly wondered how she was supposed to answer the question. Sometimes when people did asked her about her ambition, Arissa can't truly be sure as she didn't want her family's disapproval. But right now...
It took her a while before she opened her mouth and said carefully, "I wanted to be the Head of Department of Magical Law Enforcement. My mother worked as a Court Scribe, you see." Then she shot him a mischievous smile as she said lightly,"It would be fun to work in the Wizengamot. I actually like the...power it gave me."
Arissa decided to just be honest. While her family might have something against her choice of words, Cade was the same age as her. There's no need to be careful with that. Furthermore, She was already a Slytherin right now. The green tie she's wearing was a clear evident of her value. A little ambition won't hurt anyone. Arissa truly felt that working at Wizengamot would give her a sense of power. She like that feeling more than anything. Perhaps that was the main reason why she was sorted into Slytherin rather than Ravenclaw. She tilted her head slightly while adding, "I guess it means that I have to focus more on my Defense against Dark Arts class, right? The same way you must focus on you Charms class."
She don't really think that her ambition was as dangerous as an Auror actually, but she can't let herself being looked down upon when she was already high up in the ranking. She closed her eyes for a moment, enjoying the feeling of the breeze on her face for a while, as she spoke,"Oh. By the way, do you remember our previous discussion? Regarding the pets that we wanted? Have you decided on what type of owl would you buy?"
"Elegant and unruffled, impassioned yet unmoved...That's what I am, and that's what I must be."

@Arissa WrightCade was impressed. He never knew any other first-year say that they wanted to be in the Wizengamot. It gave him a sense of what type of witch Arissa was. He knew she was mature, but he had no idea to what extent. He was pleased that she would trust him with such information. He knew she was very private from fear of gossips. Cade's lips were sealed, he knew how to keep a secret. She was very ambitious, that sort of dream could take a lot of work. Cade knew that if anyone could do it, it would be Arissa Wright. She was just that sort of person.
But then she asked what type of owl Cade wanted. "I haven't truly thought about it, but if I had to choose right now it would be between an Indian Eagle Owl or a Great White Owl. They are both magnificent owls."Cade ran a hand through his hair and studied the dull tip of his pencil. Reaching into his bag he found a sharpener. "I was thinking of naming it either Hermes or Juno. I suppose it will come to me when I finally pick them out." Cade thought for a moment while sharpening his pencil. "Why don't we go to the menagerie together? When we have enough galleons." He hoped he wasn't being too assuming. She could be thinking he was a clown and never wanted to see him again. Cade bit his lip, but there was a chance that she thought he was fun and worth spending time with. Cade wouldn't know.
"What about your cat? What type do you want?" He met her eyes.

Arissa was a bit surprised by the offer, as she mulled over the it for a few seconds, before making her decision. "Sure, that sounds fascinating." It would be better to go with someone rather than going alone, as to ease any awkwardness she may have felt if she was on her own searching for pets. Having a companion to go to the Magical Menagerie who actually have the same purpose as her was more enjoyable.
Arissa frowned as she think about her options, while glancing at the Giant Squid before her, who seemed to be having fun, swinging its tentacles left and right, its movement was akin to a dance. Then she answered lightly, "I'm not exactly sure, between Egyptian Mau or Silver Siberian. They each have their own elegance, in my opinion. However, I do want to know their combat skills, whether they can actually take care of themselves. Just in case." Arissa love pretty things, truly, but she also detest it when it did not have any ability to protect itself. It's not like she wanted throw it into the jungle or something, it's just simply precautions in case anything actually happen. She already discarded her wish to have an owl, as she felt a cat would be more suitable as her companion.
While owl was very useful especially when delivering letters, cat have a sharp sense of smell, awareness of its surroundings, extraordinary hearings, as well as having quick feet. Very useful as a companion in her Common Room. If only she can speak cat's language, perhaps it would be useful as a spy. "But I already picked up a name for it, when the time actually comes." After a while she added, "But I do agree with you. The animal in the Menagerie have their own personalities, so the attraction probably will come to us when we go there."

@Arissa WrightCade felt a strong wave of relief flood onto his shoulders. She actually wanted to go with him! A grin spread on his face when she accepted. He looked away trying to hide the goofy smile. He listened in silence as she listed of the cat breeds she was looking at. Cade didn't know anything about the Egyptian Mau or Silver Siberian. But anything that was silver sounded good in his mind's eye. Then Arissa went on to question their combat skills. Cade knew that magical pets had abilities but that also put a smile on his face. He imagined the felines in a dojo practicing the martial arts.
"I'm sure you won't put them into harm's way, regardless." Cade looked over to Arissa. Then he began to wonder if his owl would be ok. He was sure having wings was quite enough, if anything were to happen then it could just fly away to safer heights. Cade finished shading the tree line. He decided he was done drawing for now and closed his sketchbook. "What is the name you picked? Or do you want it a surprise?" Cade packed his sketchbook away into his bag. He dusted the pencil shavings off of his pants.

Arissa shook her head."Not really. Whoever my pet is, I'll name it Este. It just crossed my mind when we talked about that in our missives." She shot him a mischievous smile before turning her head to face the lake again. "I'll guess I should just choose a female pet then. I'm not sure whether that name actually suited for males, calling them that would be pretty laughable don't you think?" For Arissa, that name sounded sophisticated enough, despite the fact that it didn't fit both genders well. But at least the only thing left for her to do would be choosing her pet.
She then heard a vague 'thump' but didn't turn to glance at her companion. "Done?" She asked. Arissa didn't actually have any talent in drawing, but she was more than happy to merely watch the art itself. "Do I have the honor of seeing it for the first time or do you need more time to get it done?" She asked lightly, tucking a strand of blonde hair that makes it way to her face. Arissa knew that some boys didn't exactly like sitting and chatting, but some prefer that kind of calming atmosphere rather than chaotically spend their energy playing. But she can't exactly point out which group was Cade in, though from what she knew about him, it was most likely the former.
If he was like either father or Adrian, who had too much energy, then he would be the latter, though Arissa highly doubted that. Her father was a soccer player after all. Adrian was just...Adrian.
So she asked, "Are you the kind of boy that prefers playing around or you didn't mind sitting and chatting? Though I'm afraid that I'm quite unsure whether I can accompany you to run around. I'm not exactly what you would call 'brimming with energy' kind of person."
"Elegant and unruffled, impassioned yet unmoved...That's what I am, and that's what I must be."
