Don't Go Breaking My Stuff..I Can't Fix It
The brisk Autumn air had settled at Hogwarts, though Freya was relatively unaware of this fact. As the months advanced, her mind became more bogged down with information and pressed with the fact that she did not feel confident about any of the spells she had learned in her first year. How in the world had she passed? It was as though Freya had not participated in her first year, going through the motions without learning anything.
Unfortunately, she could not do that for her second year. First-year spells were foundational, and if she was unable to remember how to do them, she would, quite frankly, be screwed. So while the other students were likely spending their time jumping into piles of leaves before the blankets of snow created a new adventure, Freya was frantically practicing in a study room, anxiety intensifying with each failed spell.
The study room was relatively empty, though the haphazard tables that sprinkled around the room gave the impression that a rather large group of students had left not too long ago. Freya had tucked the chairs under their respective tables to create some semblance of order, trying to repair the room to its intended state as though it was a maze of pipes. The result ended up like her studies: half-assed. Her focus, however, was not on the long-lasting chaos of the scattered tables but instead on the broken frame cradled within her left hand. Within it was a stationary picture of a family: a tall, sandy-haired, gentle-faced man; an average-sized woman with a neat bun and sensible glasses; and a young, messy-haired girl who appeared to be the exact child holding the picture now.
Freya was much more relaxed in the picture. The girl, now, was frantically murmuring "reparo," whilst jabbing her wand in various motions, escalating in volume with each failed attempt. It was as though she had wished herself into being a Muggle again - nothing happened with her words, even when she twirled in attempts to get something, anything to happen. Scowling deeper in frustration and concentration, tears began to form in Freya's eyes in response to the failures, as she believed that this single spell was evidence for her worth.
It certainly wasn't, but Freya was drained. Hogwarts had been so hard mentally, emotionally, and academically. When would it end? A solitary tear flowed down her cheek as she bellowed out one last unsuccessful "Reparo!"

Don't Go Breaking My Stuff..I Can't Fix It
Interacting with @Freya Thomas.
It wasn't rare to find Theodora in the study room. All three of her older siblings having been excellent students, she felt a rather large pressure on her to make sure she followed in their footsteps. As a result, Theo spent more time working on her charms and studying than anything else- despite not really enjoying it. Though, such studies were paying off rather nicely, seeing as she currently had rather incredibly grades. It should also be noted it's still the early part of the year, and there was plenty of room for said good grades to fall into the gutter.
As Theo wandered into the study room, she spotted someone else in the space, seemingly mumbling to herself. It didn't take a genius to see the girl was clearly frustrated, likely due to the lack of spell work she's able to complete. Theo could truly relate- when she was first learning some of her charms, it was incredibly frustrating, but she got it eventually. Not everyone was as lucky as her in the aspect.
Part of Theo wanted to just mind her business. That's what she should have done, and fully planned on doing. She set her bag and books down on a nearby table to get her own quiet area, and intended on just ignoring the mumblings of the other frustrated witch. However... Somewhere along the line of her mumblings, the girls quiet tone turned into a shout, and a visible tear was seen rolling down her cheek. That was just... Sad to watch. Pathetic, as well. Scrunching her nose, Theo made the choice to intervene.
"Um, are you alright?" She called out to the girl, head tilted slightly, sending one of her french braids off the side of her shoulder. "I know charms can be difficult, but it's nothing to cry over. You'll get it eventually."

Don't Go Breaking My Stuff..I Can't Fix It
Freya was so engrossed in trying to fix her frame that she did not notice another body enter and remain in the room. If she had, perhaps she would have controlled her tears or left the room, but instead, they increased in speed and velocity. The call from the nearby table did remind her of where, exactly, she was, though it was too late to stop her tears and shave a shred of dignity.
Freya did appreciate that the girl who had entered the room did not mock this poor, sad Ravenclaw who was so worthless that she could not fix a simple picture frame. It was a simple first year spell, one that she had, by pure chance, gotten right enough times that she had passed the primary Charms curriculum, yet the stars did not align at this moment for her to demonstrate any of Freya's magical worth. She stared at the picture of her family, anger boiling despite the tears. Why had they forced her to return here, even though she had begged to remain in Rye? If they could see her now, they would understand why she had prayed every night that her wish came true that she would return, once again, to Freya Joanna Thomas: not a witch but simply, heir to the Pipeline Plumbing dynasty.
"Thank you," Freya mumbled coyly, not meeting the other girl's eyes out of sheer embarrassment. "I don't know why it's not working, I just...wish it would." She held up the broken frame, showing her peer what was inside. "It's Mum, Dad, and me, you see. And I just...miss them."
Tears slowing, Freya's eyes remained in a watery state as her lip gently quivered. When would this nightmare finally end? It seemed that it would not now; hoping at least to fix one of her many problems, she quietly added, "Do you know the spell? Reparo? It's...not my favorite. Charms, that is. Like you said, it is hard."
All of the classes are, she added silently to herself, though she wouldn't dare declare this statement out loud. Already embarrassed enough by her tears, Freya bit her lip to try to make the welling stop altogether, welcoming the dull pain that came from the pressure. She turned the picture around once more and stared at the warm smiles of her family. It was truly hard to imagine feeling like that again and being together, although it had only been a few months. Maybe this girl was good at Charms and knew of a spell to speed time up...
