Nodding gratefully towards Bridget, Heather looked back at Henry. "I hope you won't make me regret this decision... partner." She said, without being able to hold back the smile crossing her features. While the Slytherin decided to use Lumos in the corner of the room, Heather looked closer to the table she was currently next to. To her luck, she caught sight of some candy inside of the lamp! Hiding the treat behind her back, she decided to surprise Henry with her newest finding.

In her rush, the Ravenclaw almost didn't hear Miranda's question. Turning her head towards her friend, she let out a small grin. "I got something, though it's not much. What about you?" While she waited to hear her reply, Heather headed towards Henry, who was inspecting the now-illuminated corner of the room (C2).

"Great job, partner." Heather teased, elbowing her friend. "And, we have got ourselves our first treat!" Showing the boy what was hidden in her hand, the Ravenclaw let out a small laugh. "Now, let's see what we can find around here...". Twirling around, the blonde noticed a trunk on one side of the wall. It could be full of rubbish, or maybe, it could hold other treats... or tricks.

Something about the bookshelf rubbed Robert the wrong way. After a second of pondering, he realized that it was because there was no good organization method of the books on it. They weren't done alphabetically by title or author, first or last name, by subject, or even by the color of the covers. Somehow, he was able to control the impulse to start going through the books in an attempt to make it a bit easier for another person to find what they were looking for, realizing that the chaos might be a clue. And indeed it was! The fact that the titles of the books going diagonally from the top left corner to the bottom right wrote out "check under the rug" with their first letters was a bit too much for Robert to chalk up to coincidence.

In the Ravenclaw's first scan of the room, he'd thought that the rug was a sort of unlikely place to find candy, but according to this clue, that assumption had been wrong. Of course, the clue could also be misleading, a seriously random coincidence, or actually lead to some sort of trick, but Robert's empty hands were enough to convince himself that it was worth the risk.

As he was moving over to the patch of carpet currently not darkened, he overheard one of the students running the event confirm that teaming up was allowed. He realized that one of the main reasons he'd joined this club was to meet other people, and so far, he'd kind of forgotten about that. Robert called over to the two partners this had been addressed to and asked, "I don't suppose you'd let me join your group?" Especially since he already knew Henry, this might give him a chance to get to know the other girl. Although they'd exchanges pleasantries, Robert didn't even know her name.

While waiting for an answer, the first-year busied himself examining the top of the carpet, maybe searching for some design that might be a clue. Then, he carefully lifted up a corner of the rug and peered underneath. Hopefully he'd be able to find some loose candy, or at least another clue taped to the bottom or simply slid underneath.

Bridget returned Henry's smile; it seemed he'd finally realized she was both there and on his duelling team. A little slow, but understandable considering she doubted he'd given the staff team more than a glance when he came in. It appeared as though the pairing would work out without any arguing over sweets with Henry saying Heather could have most of what they found. She raised an eyebrow, though, as Robert asked if he could join there group. With Miranda and Heather sharing information, it looked like the majority of the participants were working together. Well, that was fine if they wanted to do that. There was nothing against it in the rules and this wasn't a competition anyway. The brunette noticed Aurelia hadn't moved in a while; perhaps she was still trying to decide if it was worth continuing conversation with the painting?
Sector A3:
Miranda Everest perhaps had the right idea; this was a Halloween Hunt, and since she'd found two lovely treats hidden in the ghosts, maybe the decorative pieces were jackpots. She would cross the room to the mini pumpkin patch, and spot that no one had had much luck it so far. Miranda wouldn't be the one to change that, though, as all she noticed was the rotting state of one of the gourds. Unfortunately, it looked like her successful streak had come to an end.
Sector B3:
Robert was onto something, but was it a trick or a treat? At any rate, what he'd found at the bookshelves was unmistakable; he needed to check under the rug. Today really wasn't Robert's day, though. Not only had he not found a single treat yet, but he had the great misfortune to have his foot caught under the rug. Robert would trip and find himself on the ground. From her seat at the edge of the room, Bridget winced; that probably hurt in more ways than one. [Robert took 50 damage: 400-50 = 350 Health Points remaining]
Sector C1:
Henry was no longer standing in a dark corner thanks to his brilliantly cast Lumos. The light likely wouldn't last forever, though, and Henry wasn't about to waste time. He would inspect the end of the table nearest the left wall and find something frankly underwhelming. Luckily Henry hadn't been present at the spider attack of last year because all he would find was a creepy little eight-legged thing that upon closer inspection was just a fake. [Note: Lumos effects end in 3 rounds]
Sector C2:
Heather would also take advantage of the light and investigate the sort of thing you just knew was hiding something: the trunk. The Ravenclaw wouldn't be able to open it, but she would find something on the outside. It was some sort of note that read 'help me'. Was it a reference to another part of the room, or just a useless scrap of paper?
Conclusion:
The participants had been doing quite well in their search for candy a minute ago, but for some reason that success had stopped. Aurelia hadn't really looked around at all, Robert had tripped, and the rest of them hadn't found anything all that useful. Bridget couldn't help but shiver at the sight of the uncovered spider Henry found; she knew it was a fake, but that didn't change the fact she hated spiders. Well, even if things weren't looking up currently, maybe they would turn it around. They were a decent way into the hunt, but with everything useless they found, they were that much closer to discovering something worthwhile.

As Henry search the table he spoke over to Heather " you won't don't worry," he laughed a bit as be looked around the table but sadly only found a rubber spider which would have frighten him but luckily he missed the attack on the students and still Henry breathed a sign of relief since it wasn't a snake, the boy was terrified of snakes.

Henry overheard Miranda asking Heather if she found anything. Henry did love Miranda not to mention that they were dating, he also considered her a close friend but at the moment they were against each other in finding threats so he just gave her a smile as Heather showed him the piece that they had in which Henry replied " nice, meanwhile I just found this," Henry held up the rubber spider for her as he watched her head to the trunk to investigate but didn't open it.

Henry headed toward the trunk to when he stopped and heard Robert ask if he could join their team, three against the others sounded better than doing it alone as Henry heard so he smiled at him before saying " that's fine with me if you join our team," Henry then rose a eyebrow at Heather, " what do think Heather? Two Ravenclaw's and a Slytherin is definitely finding the most here."

Henry then walked a bit to Robert after seeing Heather's reply before whispering to the first year " Heather already found a piece," he smiled at him before waving at Heather and saying " oh that's Heather by the way, don't let her sarcasm fool you. She really a kind person," before walking back to Heather and saying " the unlocking charm should work on this, that's Robert by the way and he's far more useful than you think."

Henry smiled over at Robert before turning back to the trunk and point his wand at it but got distracted as he saw Robert trip over the rug and couldn't help but ask him " are you alright there mate?" Henry would then turn back to turn as he pointed his wand at it and spoke " Alohomora," awaiting for it to open and hopefully reveal some candy.

"I've got a few," Miranda replied, tapping the pocket she'd enlisted to hold her candy. Perhaps Heather would see the shapes through the fabric, perhaps she wouldn't. Either way, the shorter Ravenclaw would soon turn away to inspect the pumpkin patch.

At first glance nothing showed itself, so Miranda reached over and tried to lift up a yellow gourd, hoping to find something underneath. And she did find something...just not what she wanted to. The gourd she'd picked up wasn't normal, it was disgusting. Frankly, no other words could describe her immediate disgust upon realizing her left hand had sunk into the malleable skin of the half-rotted gourd. Ew.

She wasted no time in dropping it back into place, immediately whipping her hand back and wiping it on a better-looking pumpkin, then her robes. Okay, no more pumpkin patch.

Miranda lifted her head and surveyed the room. On one side, a pair of paintings, on another, the bookshelf she'd already searched. But just because she'd already checked it out didn't mean there might be something more hidden there...

That thought made up Miranda's mind, and she moved over to the bookshelf, scanning it for more treats so she could get past her temporary (hopefully) dip in luck.

Taking the piece of paper and giving it a closer look, Heather furrowed her eyebrows. "Help me? What could this even mean?" The girl questioned out loud, deep in thought. Was it a clue, some kind of trick? Or a simple piece of paper forgotten there? While the latter was a possibility, Heather doubted that the organizing team forgot such a detail. So, she assumed that it was a hidden message. She just had to know where to look.

Focusing back on Henry, Heather clenched her fist, instinctively protecting the note as she watched the boy show her the piece of rubber. Thank goodness she wasn't afraid of spiders, that one looked oddly realistic. Just as she wanted to ask for the Slytherin's opinion on the strange note, she heard the other boy, the one she greeted next to the table, ask if he could join their team. "Of course!" The blonde replied enthusiastically. After all, the more the merrier! As Henry seemed to whisper something to the boy, Heather made a step forward, in order to see what they were talking about, but then her friend turned to her. She nodded silently as she listened to him, rolling her eyes playfully. "Everyone is useful in their own way. Even you, Henry." Grinning cheekily, Heather thought about the note she'd previously found. After a brief moment, she unclenched her fist, revealing the piece of paper to the two boys. "What do you think this means?"

In all honesty, anyone could have written that. And, the girl wasn't sure what could the note be referring to. Maybe the trunk needed help? It was a possibility, that would be soon tested, as the Slytherin decided to try to open it. In the meantime, Heather would try to look next to the ghosts, which thankfully were less scary than the ones who actually lived in the castle.

This seemed about par for the course. Robert was always clumsy, but so far in the hunt, this surprisingly hadn't affected him. Of course, as soon as he reached out to some of the other participants in the hunt, he immediately tripped over the rug he was trying to investigate. Flushed with embarrassment, the first-year was at least glad that neither Henry nor Heather seemed to notice, both gladly welcoming him to their team. Quickly composing himself, he called over to the other Ravenclaw. "Nice to meet you, Heather!"

"That's Robert by the way and he's far more useful than you think."

At that, Robert playfully raised his eyebrows at the second-year. Maybe Henry had noticed his fall after all. "Hey, just because I can be a bit clumsy sometimes doesn't mean I can't help!" In an attempt to prove this, the young Ravenclaw immediately got to work trying to figure out Heather's rather vague clue. "Well, off the top of my head, I can think of a couple possible meanings for that," he started. "Some muggles believe that ghosts are dead spirits stuck on earth until they can finish some task, which they often need the help of the living to do. So, it could be a good idea to check out the ghosts."

Robert looked up and saw Heather already heading over to that area.Well, that takes care of that theory, he thought to himself, and then continued brainstorming out loud. "I think you found it by the trunk, right? So maybe something is hidden inside the trunk, and needs help to get out, either some candy that wants to be eaten, or a trick that just wants to cause mischief." The Ravenclaw looked over and saw Henry already attempting to open the trunk. "The final reason I can think of, other than it just being a misleading piece of paper, would be that the 'help' mentioned in the note could refer to what we are doing right now, helping each other." Satisfied with his various interpretations of the clue, Robert realized that he'd been so busy tripping over himself that he hadn't actually followed his own clue. "Can you guys think of any other possible meanings?" he asked, turning his own attention back to the rug.
