Broom Race
With a burst of light erupting into the sky and the roar of the crowd, the race was on. The broom racer's would kick off the ground and take flight. The open space of the Flying training grounds made take-off easy with a firm kick off. It was obvious that some students came better supplied. Florian (@Starlee Kennedy), Enzo (@Akari Kato), Andrew (@Rose Moon), Theodore (@Opeila Winters), Enzo (@Akari Kato) and Iris (@Katrina Walker), all representatives of foreign schools had borrowed school brooms to participate in this race.
There were some strange happenings right at the start. Xailah would change before their very eyes. Her pale skin and dark tresses would normalize. The gothic beauty would look more conventionally pretty. As if she has seen the light of day rather than the inside of a casket. An unsettling presence from Yefim (@Flash Holmwood), @Aurelia Notrésvace and Mikael @Percival Rainwood would seem to roll off them. This sense of danger, a primal sense deep in the bones of those nearest them would tell them to RUN. To get away from them. Of course the cruel nature of a race, these terrible creatures were in hot pursuit.
The racers would converge upon a singular point, the mouth of the viaduct. The long, narrow bridge that spanned a great chasm would be their first challenge this race.
Mikael (Percival Rainwood) made it through the viaduct unscathed. They would fan out as they erupted through the other side of the bridge.
In the open space the racers would take a gentle, wide right they would dart into the Forbidden Forest. Some bruised and tired, they would fly between the trees. Caelan Stewart would not enter the darkened wood unprepared. He drew his wand and called out the word of power "Lumos!"
Aemadall Zarcovich and Iris would see Auriella in front of them. She was both lovely and terrible in the same breath. His gaze left the path before him for but a moment but that was all it took. The end of his broom hit a branch from a tree.
Mikael and Yefim caught Caelan's eye. The heck is wrong with those two, there was something that was just not right about those two. He clipped a branch with the heel of his broom, violently shaking the boy about. Leaves slapped him in face leaving a red welt on his face. Not once, but twice, like a pair of disgruntled women slapping him silly for a rude, lewd comment.
The span between the racers would begin to become noticeable. Aemadall Zarcovich, Phyllis (Bridget Collins), Enzo (Akari Kato), Andrew Lycan (Rose Moon), Theodore (Opeila Winters), Lucas (Amara Dragamoir), Caelan Stewart Xailah Alptraum appearing as Aurelia and Iris (Katrina Walker) were in the tangle of the woods. Lucas (Amara Dragamoir) would watch Aurelia Notrésvace ahead of her. There was something that he could do about the girl riding a very expensive broom. Too expensive really.

The tip of his wand would erupt in light. The trees along the fringe of the wood were open, the path was wide and clear. He would not have a hard time dodging the trees as he rushed through the woods. Others would be able to see him clearly, a beacon of light beneath the full canopy of leaves that mostly obscured the sky.Caelan cast Lumos.

The handsome youth would try and knock the girl down a few pegs but the attack would backfire. He was not even targeting the right one, he had mistook the metamorph for the real deal. Perhaps Aurelia would be stopped by Alexei (Anastasia Beckett). For whatever reason the girl had garnered multiple enemies at the start of the race. Alexi was going to try to knock the Gryffindor to the ground. One less Hogwarts opponent to fly against.Lucas (Amara) has been knocked off his broom. Nobody had a prepared action to save Lucas.
Aurelia skillfully avoided the attack and flew ahead of Alexi who was left behind in the woods. The leaders were thinning, as they recklessly endeavored onward. Broom Race
The start of the race was simply... hectic. Some people would fall off their brooms, get hit by trees, or get cut by thorns. He wanted some adrenaline, he got all the adrenaline.
It would appear fate was on Logan's side as he somehow managed to dodge all the thorns. He just kept flying cuz the race was far from over.
He could see a waterfall with what looked like a tunnel behind it, that he had to pass through. When he passed through it successfully, a rush of cold went through his spine.
There was only one other person there with him. It appeared to be a beauxbatons girl. "Wait... That means I'm winning!" he thought.
He was neck and neck with the girl as he continued to move through this hazardous terrain. He needed to go at max speed if he was to win. And that he did.

A growl escapes fair Lucas Dragamior as he falls to the ground. Quickly dusting off his shirt, Lucas swings his legs back over his broom. Kicking off, the Dragamior boy urges his broom further. Faster, faster; all risk, no thought, just pushing forward until he can win, until he can prove his worth.

Wow, his first official broom race and it was not off to a great start for little Florian. There were quite a few reasons Florian was mad. Firstly, and quite obviously, he had to have one of the slowest brooms around. 'Why oh why couldn't I have brought my broom from home?' he wondered sulkily. Loosing was not an option, but with such a slow broom, he really didn't have a choice in the matter. So many other students quickly whooshed by him in a frenzy, and he was mad.
Secondly, how had he managed to not make it through that viaduct? He was a tiny first-year! But alas, he skidded along the side of it, hurting himself in the process. He wasn't the only one to do so, which made him a bit happier, but still. There were just too many people in this race. However, he wasn't counting himself out of the running quite yet, it seemed there were quite a lot of people around him still.

Unfortunately, Xailah would miss seeing Meenauh join the spectators. The race had begun, and there was no time to look back, at the stands. Even though the metamorph had not seen her Mancunian friend arrive, she knew the girl was at least with her in spirit- like she always was. Xailah would be unable to describe what she felt, once her boots left the ground. A mix of different emotions buzzed over her. For a creature of her nature, the conglomeration was distracting, and very, very confusing. Was she happy? Proud? Scared? Sad? All of the above? She was unsure, but she knew that she needed to shake whatever she was feeling, off- and quick. She could not afford self-induced distractions. Emotions were not going to help her win this race.
Xailah would pass through the narrow viaduct with great ease. Her slender frame, and quick reflexes would allow her to slip by the congestion of students, unscathed. But that was merely the first task. The obstacles that were awaiting in the near future, were surely going to be much harder to bypass. That much was certain. Darting out of the viaduct, the young Alptraum would find herself entering an area, that was densely packed with trees. She had made it into the woods. It was awfully dark, but that was hardly a problem for the lioness. Pupils would frantically flex, in search for any light, that the forest canopy might have failed to hide. Her eyes would adjust to the dim setting, just in time to see a spell flung her way- or was it Aurelia's way?
It would seem that the metamorphs Aurelia disguise, was working better, than she thought it would. She had not expected to actually confuse someone, to the point of having their spell backfire and hit themselves, instead of their intended target. That was a first. Honestly, it felt a little good, to be distracting enough to puzzle her peers- it was the one skill that Aurelia had, that made the metamorph jealous. Xailah would fly past the fallen Durmstrang player, without batting an eye. As she moved through the trees, she would notice that the forest, was becoming denser. Vines, and thorns had begun to constrict the path, that she had mapped out for herself. The foliage was a problem- but she had a solution. She figured a well-aimed Diffindo could clear the path for her.

Flying felt amazing. It always did; it was why the majority of Phyllis' free time was spent in the air. Seriously, why keep your feet on the ground when you could soar through the clouds?
She was noticeably not going the fastest, but she'd already made up her mind to stick with Theo. The racers were off and almost immediately they were forced through a viaduct. There were way too many people going through all at once, but Phyllis did this sort of stuff for fun all the time. Lots of the other players bumped into the walls or each other, probably getting scraped or bruised, but not Phyllis. It was like threading a needle and Phyllis shot perfectly through the center and emerged untouched on the other side. Flying fast was definitely fun, but maybe there was something satisfying in doing things well.
The viaduct opened up into the forest and Phyllis immediately went out to the side a bit; being in the very middle seemed like asking to be pummeled by elbows. The redhead weaved through the trees, doing her best to divide her focus between not running into a tree trunk and checking that Theo was fine. And really, he was doing a great job. Shooting him a quick thumbs-up, she turned her attention back to the course. Several of the players were ahead, clearly going faster, but that was okay. There was plenty of time to catch up, and who knows, maybe going slow actually helped even if it was kind of boring.

Broom Race
The game started in a blur. Iris tried her hardest to keep Andrew in her sights, although, with so many around, it was difficult. Soon the crowd thinned as people shot ahead. Iris could still see the person in front, she knew that her broom could easily catch up with theirs, but there was a plan that she was going to follow, even if it killed her.
The first bit was easy, there was no worry of bumping anyone, even though there were so many people. However, the trail bottlenecked and the two or three dozen flyers had to get much closer. Iris ignored everything else until she was out of the viaduct where she found Andrew again.
There was a chill in the air. Something, not from the cold. There was something wrong with the person in front of her, a presence that was palpable. Iris was distracted by them long enough to smack into a branch. "Get your head in the game Iris," she growled to herself, again finding Andrew.
"Andrew, I'm going ahead a bit, I'll keep you in sight, don't worry," Iris called out intending for just him to hear as she sped up some.

Nick was riding on the start of game adrenaline and tried to ride through the first obstacle at high speed. Unfortunately, he bumped around and he got a bit hurt. Luckily, he was able to fly through and continue towards the forest. The speed didn't seem to hinder him when he went into the forest, especially with the light coming from his wand, he seemed to be travelling well. Then some sort of... presence... caught him off guard.
Looking to his side, Nick sees two boys he didn't recognize, there was something about them that seemed off to him. He couldn't help but keep staring, which caused him to be unsuspecting when part of his broom snagged onto a tree branch. He started losing control of the broom, smashing into a couple twigs, giving him some nasty welts. Luckily though, he didn't fall off, so he could brush off the pain and continue into the forest. He would take it slower this time, continuing to hold his wand emitting light.Action: Maintaining Lumos

Immediately, Yefim kicked off and sped forward. There was no gentle build-up of momentum, he was a rocket ship with nuclear fuel. It was a flipping RACE, wasn’t it? The idea was to go FAST! He didn’t look anywhere but right ahead of him, but it went without saying that the tall, hulking teenager made a terrifying sound piercing through the wind at top speed. Aerodynamic posture, red goggles over his eyes, and a freaky grin on his face. One would think the sky was ripping open when he split by.
Right by his side, his brother-in-arms, both in-sync and eerily threatening on a broom. Beside each other, one seeing them approach would be forgiven for thinking they were about to be swallowed by a tsunami. A few kids were so flipped out that they stumbled around at the mere sight of them. Whenever Yefim caught sight of a nerd getting swiped by a tree branch, he let out a bellow of laughter. It was worth the lung expenditure, because winning was fun. Even funner when everyone knew you were winning and they couldn’t stop you.
Not that Yefim didn’t get clipped himself, slamming into the viaduct right from the start as a ton of kids tried to be the first to get through it. It didn’t phase him much, he only needed to concentrate to catching back up with Mik, because of course he was one of the only ones who flew through flawlessly.
Yefim thought about making things harder for everyone, but he was still too jazzed. The thrill of adrenaline was still pushing him to not slow down. There were still two people in front of him after all, and he didn’t want them to miss out on getting passed up like everyone else. He silently asked his immaculate soul to curse the other players and bring them all down to the ground. A heavy weight… they feel a heavy weight on their shoulders pulling them to the earth like the crawling ants they are. Bottom feeders. Twerps. Losers.
