while jasmine's mother was a pure-blood wizard hailing from the yi clan, based in south-korea, her father was a simpler man. born of a muggle and a wizard, because his family was blended he only had two sisters that shared his gift of sorcery, while the rest of his siblings, born of a different mother, were very much muggles.
jasmine had heard the story of her parents' love several times. her grandmother had been the first of her family to leave south-korea for england, after she had expressed the wish to discover more of the world. therefore, her mother had, unlike her cousins, attended hogwarts. her father, however, at the time lived in france with his mother and attended beauxbâtons. it was only when both of her parents graduated and her father came back to england to reconnect with his step-siblings that they met, in the most trivial of ways, in london.
they kept giggling when recounting how, despite the two of them being wizards, they only bumped into each other in a small shop in london and, after experiencing love at first sight, began their relationship thinking the other was a muggle.
not long after their marriage, a little girl was born in the very place they met.
despite being an only child, jasmine had never been lonely, growing up surrounded by her parents, uncles, aunts and cousins as one family. furthermore, being the youngest girl, she was always treated like a princess, protected by her uncles and cousins, and loved by her aunts. because their household certainly did not lack money, all that was left for jasmine to do was to live comfortably.
wizardry wasn't a big part of her life, as most of her wizard blood came from her mothers' side, rather than the paternal family she lived with. she never met her mother's family except for her grandmother, who had already gone back to south-korea, as her mother didn't seem to keep much contact with her relatives. as such, she had a relatively ordinary childhood, and didn't get involved in magic too much per the wishes of her parents, though she didn't miss any chances to ask them about it should she be curious.
she did, however, showcase a few instances of magic during her youth. the very first time was when, as a toddler, she went from crying in her small bed to quietly playing at its foot in the middle of the night, its supposedly sturdy rail inexplicably torn apart by her side. nobody seemed to question the event's unnatural cause at the time, as the adults just thought it was the act of one of her older cousins. no punishment was given, however, as they couldn't find someone to blame and decided to give the children the benefit of the doubt.
