Herbology with You?
Katie skipped into greenhouse one for herbology around two minutes early. Herbology was Katie's class. Working with plants our her at ease, and She was fascinated to learn everything that She could about them. She smiled softly to herself.
Katie wondered what they would work on today in class. She'd had the most fun learning about bouncing bulbs, and was also curious if they'd learn learn any new spells today. She didn't think they would though.
Despite not thinking that they'd be learning any new spells, She wasn't that disappointed by this. After all, She loved herbology because she loved plans. Katie had her wand tucked into her backpack on her back as she took a seat.
While some kids might want to keep their wands I their pockets, Katie had always preferred supporting her wand in her backpack when she wasn't using it. For starters, Katie didn't trust her wand to not fall out of her pocket and a zipped up backpack felt more secure. Second, She highly doubted anyone would hex an unsuspecting first year, and if she was suspecting, she'd have time to get her wand out of her backpack and into her hands.
That's when she noticed the girl who's introduced herself as Haley. You! Katie sneered at the clumsy girl who'd spilled her joy coffee all of her cloak and friend's journal.

Herbology with You?
Haley was on her way to the greenhouse with a few other first-graders of Gryffindor and was looking forward to herbology. Haley was interested in almost all subjects, but this one in particular. Haley, who spent so much time outdoors in nature and has always wanted to learn about plants since she was a little girl, was very excited about the classes.
She would love to learn everything about a bowtruckle. Haley already knew a lot about the tree-keepers, but always hoped to have the chance to see one sometime.
When the group arrived at the greenhouse, they went inside to spread out on the squares, she noticed a familiar face in the corner of her eye. The Slytherin girl with the bad manners. Haley rolled her eyes and was annoyed that they ran into each other so quickly, but tried to ignore her as best she could.
After a short round of introductions she knew that her name was Katie. When it was Haley's turn she was suddenly interrupted by the girl. Haley looked over to Katie. Did she just say that really out loud? Haley asked herself, she felt the eyes of her classmates going back and forth between Katie and Haley.
Haley didn't know how to react and found the bail more and more funny from second to second.
What does she expect from me? What should I do on an angry YOU? Answers? Before Haley could prevent it, she hadn't turned her gaze away from Katie, she started to laugh. No offense, but Haley found the situation simply amusing.
"Yeah, it's, uh, nice to see you again." Haley smiled at the Slytherin Beast - that's what she had named the girl - Haley sensed that she would resent her but she couldn't help herself.
Before she had the idea to direct her anger further against Haley, Haley turned around and devoted her attention to the class.

Katie groaned. She didn't know why this Gryffindor idiot had decided to terrorize and ruin her herbology class. Katie ignored her and brushed past her briskly in a huff. Katie should not have to put up with people She knew she would not ever like. At least not until they dramatically changed their attitudes.
Katie silently hoped that she would not get paired with Rose in a partner project. I suppose it makes sense why your last name is Rose, Katie muttered not really carrying if the Gryffindor girl heard her our not as long as a teacher didn't hear and give her a detention for the snarky comment oozing from her lips. You're a semi pretty girl hiding her ugly, sharp, and vicious thorns. Katie doubted Rose heard her, but she truly didn't care either way. Katie couldn't stand Rose in the lead, and honestly, she didn't see that changing for a long time coming. If Rose started our of her eat for the most part though, it should be all good. With Katie's luck though, they'd get paired in a partner project together in herbology today. Not that she'd blame it on her luck outputs should out happen; she was letting Rose take the whole blame of terrible luck if they were paired together in class today. Haley had been looking forward to class, but her mood rapidly deteriorated as she realized that she would run into Katie every time. Haley still could not understand how someone could have such a terrible attitude. She pulled a face at the thought of seeing Katie more often or worse, having to work on a project with her.
Haley tried not to think about it and continued to focus on the class when she heard Katie's quiet remarks. She didn't know if Katie had intentionally said it out loud enough for Haley to hear it or if she didn't know if Haley could hear it or not. But she didn't care about that either. This behavior only confirmed her bad character. Haley didn't react with any words about what she said. She just put on a smile and shook her head at Katie's remarks. "You're not very pretty either, but I'm not going to rub it in your face." Haley thought and rolled her eyes.
For the rest of the hour there were no further fights with Katie, except for a few angry looks they exchanged. Haley tried to concentrate fully on the class and contributed as much as she could to the lesson.
Just a few more minutes before end hte Professor told the students that they had to write an essay with a partner until next class. Haley just turned to her friend, who was already looking at her with a smile when their plans were destroyed. They were not allowed to choose their partner, but were assigned by the professor. Katie was immensely grateful that the whole Herbology period had gone without interacting with Rose. Then, at the very end, it was announced that they would be writing an essay for homework with a partner. Even though Katie did not know many people in her herbology class, she figured that she would be able to work with someone interesting and nib, and Katie loved herbology, so she would have a lot to contribute to their paper.
Unless... No! Katie couldn't be paired with Rose. Surely the professor would see that that was a disaster waiting to happen. That it would be foolish to pair then together because nothing would get done and Rose would likely try and sabotage Katie's grade in Herbology because it is one of her favorite classes. Yet again, Jaipur courses her bad luck for having such an awful girl with the name Rose, here to ruin her Herbology period.

Katie's glanced reassured Haley that she had not misheard. "Surely THIS cannot be true!", she was annoyed saying to herself. As if she had once hoped too much that this would not happen. But that's how it was now and it was simply impossible to change it.
Haley noticed that she just stared back at Katie and turned her eyes away to get back to reality. This was one of Haley's favorite subjects and she didn't want to let Katie spoil it. Haley took a few breaths when she noticed the look of her friend who looked at Haley pitifully. "It won't be half as bad." Haley whispered softly to her, but she didn't sound very convincing.
She better not be lazy or worse, make sure we get a bad grade. But before Haley could think up several more bad cases, she pulled herself together and tried to approach the situation with an open mind. "Yes, we don't like each other, whereby not liking is a mild way of putting it, but somehow we'll get through this without a fight," Haley encouraged herself, but her voice in her head didn't sound very convincing either.
When the class was over, the first couples started talking. Haley stood there and looked over at Katie. Everything in her was reluctant to go towards her, but she knew that she had no other chance. So she slowly walked towards Katie.
She could tell from her look that she was very annoyed by it, but Haley could understand her, after all she felt the same way. "So, um, I think we agree when I say that we're not happy at all with this situation." Haley tried to start a normal conversation, after all a conflict would not be worthwhile and would clearly complicate the cooperation. Even before waiting for an answer from Katie, she continued, "I would be happy if we could still try to write a good essay together. Maybe we could meet in the library and work on the essay? Or maybe we could split the topics beforehand and then just discuss how to combine our results in the end?"
Haley was not really satisfied with either suggestion. In the first case she had to spend some time with Katie, but it was more easy to write a good essay in this way. In the second case, she would have her peace of mind, but the quality of their work would probably suffer.
Haley was hoping that the two of them could come to some sort of agreement without banging each other's heads, but she still feared the worst. She prepared herself for Katie's answer and felt her body tense up. She couldn't smile at her, but she tried her best not to look at her angrily.

We are NOT letting the quality of.our work suffer just because yo u are an idiot. Katie said snidely, with a cold tone. Herbolgy is my favorite class and my grade will not suffer because of you. Katie added, saying the last part in a sneer, still upholding her cool glare at Rose.
We will meet in the library to discuss. This assignment is due by our next class, which happens to be in two days. Let's get it over with and work on it this afternoon. Katie said smoothly, attempting to pretend to be civil, but failing miserably. It wasn't Katie's fault that she had such a toxic partner to work with.
Katie was unbelievably upset. She had not even been this mad when she'd spilled boiling hot tea on her bare feet, and she had smashed tea pot after that happened. This was worse though. It was like someone was squeezing her heart sip tightly and putting so much pressure on it, it might just explode. Not that she'd want her heart to explode purely for the relief alone. It'd probably be awfully messy. Ewww. That's a unpleasant thought. Not add unpleasant as Rose though. Why were some people such nasty process of work?

And Haley was not disappointed with her fears. She went up to Katie and tried to make it work on a normal behavior and this girl is nothing but rude. Haley looked at her confused and couldn't understand why the little beast freaked out without any reason. At least Haley came up to her and just wanted to do a good homework.
"Sorry, but it will not suffer because I am an idiot!?" Haley managed not to laugh. "As I mentioned before, it's important for me to do a good job, even though you and I have to work together." Haley snorted and gradually became angry with her. "At least I'm getting in line to talk to you properly and not insult you or boss you around!" She thought to herself but decided to not say it out loud. She was now visibly annoyed by the behavior of the rude slytherin.
"Today 4 pm fits, see you in the library. Be on time." Haley said coldly but not rudely. Since Katie started to just say and not ask, Haley would do the same. She had tried to be nice after all but would not make any effort if this beast behaved so terribly.

Katie mentally snorted at Rose's comment about the project suffering because of her. It was evident that she thought that Katie was the problem, which was impossibly stupid given that Herbology was Katie's favorite class. Katie wouldn't be the one to mess up the project even if Rose's idiocy did.
I'll be there. Don't be late. Katie said shortly I response to Rose commanding the time as though ah was so entitled that she thought her word was law. What a nasty piece of work. How can anyone tolerate our our yup with her? Katie mumbled under her breath, as ssh gathered he bags and stupid up sharply as class was dismissed.
