It is funny how the green eyes always have a Raven companion by their side. At last ball they attended, they went to the ball with Lizzie Verdine but now the blonde Raven got her own date. After they stood by the other wix's side. Cash can not help to let a small chuckle at Mars quipped.

"Hopefully this ball will end up okay,"The serpent said. "But as you know the ball will end up not according to anyone plan"They added. Cash heard the tale how the last ball went down. When the swarm of Mosps invaded, Cash flee from the scene. And somehow the ball end up with arson.

When Mars offer them some drinks, Cash looked down on the selection of beverage. They eying some pumpkin juice but the green eyes feel like this is not the occasion to drink the said beverage. "A grape juice would be lovely"Cash stated.

As they chat away with the other wix, other bubbly voice enter the room. Cash whipped their head when their name being called. "I am great"Cash told Lindsey. They keep glancing at the entrance. Hoping their date will come soon. At this point Cash done waiting for their date.

They want to have fun. Date or no date. Mars and Lindsey asking the same question towards the green eyes. Whether the Slytherin beater come with anyone or not. "I am supposed to meet someone at this ball but I do not know if that person will attend this ball or not"Cash informed both to Lindsey and Mars.

Shrugging their shoulder and try to hide their disappointment. Cash really do want to spend the night with the ocean eyes girl they met one month ago at the lake. The eyes of the second year kept wondering to the entrance. Secretly they still hoping their date will make her appearance.

The British - Cuban eyes then landed on Starlee. The said girl wear a dress that glitter with little stars on it. Cash want to snort out with how narcissistic the young blonde is.

But both of their eyebrows shot up when another girl approached Starlee and from where Cash stood, both of the young blondes have a confrontation about the things Cash did not know about.

Cash feel bad when Starlee's face become crestfallen. Cash might go see her if they were needed with the said girl. Their attention then back again to both Mars and Lindsey. Mars saying that they did not have a date for this ball and come for the food. Cash smiled at what their friend said.

"I am not that popular though"The Latinx bumped their shoulder toward Mars in playful manner when the Raven said that Cash was one. "And you know it is always a pleasure talking and just generally hang out with you"Cash directly state it to Mars.

"It also always a pleasure with you too, Holly"Cash told Lindsey. Cash just heard the end of tail what Mars said about Lindsey being delivered to somewhere. Cash nodded their head. "Do you want us to go there with you?"The purple hair asked their friend.

As the last of the stragglers began trickling into the ball, Illowy started feeling nervous that Ruby hadn't arrived yet. Naturally, her mind wandered to one of two reasons for such a thing; either she'd managed to scare the girl off, or she might've been in some kind of trouble. Thankfully, her mind didn't have the opportunity to wander too far to imagine the worst case scenario when a flash of blue scurrying towards the ball caught her eye. In spite of the mask, familiar, cool blue eyes gave away the girl's identity before she could even great Illowy. Her heart fluttered a bit as she perked up and an excited smile lifted her features.
“You look absolutely stunning, Illowy,”

Illowy's face flushed bright pink from the compliment as she looked the other over, "Oh wow..." she uttered, almost like a contented sigh. The snake could've kicked herself for how lame of a line that must've sounded, but it escaped her throat before she'd had a chance to come up with something more eloquent; she was just so stunned by the Prefect looking like the image of blue and black, it felt like her brain was buffering. Was this why boys were always so stupid around pretty girls? She thought maybe it was a boy thing, but perhaps it was just an effect all pretty girls had on anyone who might be prone to their charms.

As Ruby apologized for her tardiness, it seemed like the Irish girl was getting her wit about her once more until Ruby then produced the corsage; once again Illowy's vocabulary failed her miserably, "Oh wow..." lame, utterly lame. C'mon brain! "I mean- Its beautiful. And you . You look so... wow..." yeah. Great save. The picture of eloquence and intelligence right there. Hopefully as the night went on, she'd manage to redeem herself.

The girl happily accepted the corsage to her left wrist, eyeing the sweet white flowers and foliage so carefully assembled. She never had anyone give her flowers before other then after a dance performance. And certainly never from someone she had feelings for. She made a mental note to put them up somewhere safe in her dorm to dry so she might have them forever. Then as Ruby offered her arm, Illowy felt her heart flitter up into her throat as she took it graciously and allowed herself to be guided along into the grand Ballroom. A goofy, contented smile on her lips as any nerves, fears or insecurities she'd felt moments ago were left behind at the door as they glided through the crowd.

Inside, it was much easier to take note of people she'd seen coming in, to recognize people here and there, but no one truly had her mind or attention beyond to girl at her side, stealing glances at her once in a while so to try not to get caught flat out staring. She just couldn't help herself. Frankly, it amazed ever her that she'd managed to get Ruby to agree to be her date; even if Illowy wasn't entirely sure what to do with herself now that they were actually here, she figured as long as they were together they'd have a good time. They usually did, even if it was something as simple or mundane as studying. Any excuse to spend time with Ruby seemed worth it to her.

As they came onto the dancefloor, the Prefect turned to face her, asking her to dance. Finally, a second nature skill she was certain wouldn't fail her, "Of course! I love dancing." she grinned, at least uttering something of a decent sentence at last. Dancing was one of the few things outside of her studies and non magic related that Illowy excelled in, and hopefully once her feet were moving, her brain would start working more practically as well.

Before they set out upon the dance floor, she assumed much about him and he couldn't help but offer a slight smirk towards her questions, "You don't know all of me," he offered playfully. Indeed, there was much still to learn about each other, but, if she was willing, he was also willing to open up more with time to her. The community of Dublin where he was from was very tight-knit and often held dance gatherings for the young ones, although his group of friends was the skaters of the streets, they also liked to have a good time.

Exquisite, she was, as she twirled when he took her hand to gently spin her. Those reflections of soft lights that projected from her dress cast by the lanterns in the ballroom danced across his eyes, a picture in slow motion that he captured into memory, always to be remembered as he gazed at the smile upon her face. As the song switched and they took a more soft dance style, she commented upon where his hand placement was, he shrugged as he looked down at those aquamarine hues, "I guess I'll have to move it," he whispered down and shifted his hand from her hip to her back while pulling her closer a little bit, "Better?" he said, that sly smirk pulled back to his features.

All of the people that surrounded them, so many had come to enjoy the festivities and still he couldn't shift his attention elsewhere. The innocence of youth didn't have reservations when it came to matters such as these, there weren't as many walls built of bad experiences, it was raw feelings and enjoyment at being with someone he genuinely was excited to share this moment with. Hopefully, the night went well and nothing like the last ball took place on this evening. Looking down as she stared up towards him, he smiled again and offered, "Ya' know, this is at least my first slow dance," he couldn't help but inform her, "I'ma kinda clumsy with my feet," he looked down to the side, "Hope I don't squish ya'," he continued with a small laugh.

Until the end of the slow song he would stay dancing with her in that manner, slightly nervous of stepping on her, but, finding it quite natural to be fluent with Dealla. Another song would come and pass and he felt the time flying by as others danced around them, coming and going. Dealla had mentioned something about the costume party and he decided to speak up about the subject, "Let's get a drink? I know you said ya' had to run around some," he said, his tone more gentle than normal, "As much as I'd like ta' steal ya' all night..." and he left that comment hanging. Taking her hand once more, he slowly back up and pulled her along, those golden hues staring into her own before he smirked and turned towards the refreshment area where he would lead them. Thoughts passed through his head as this was the first time he had taken his eyes off her from the moment they met at the entrance.

The simple things; her smile when she looked proud of her accomplishments, the way she didn't mind him holding her hand, playful teases to try and break the tension, and the way she looked slightly nervous as they started to dance. All these minute details that pulled him to her just as much as her tugging him along did. Barely did the boy register her words on what the others had done, his eyes lost on her bubbly personality that seemed to shine as excited words flowed from her. Once before he had intertwined their fingers, but, it didn't feel the same as then; now, it was just different. The second-year didn't know what to think of this swell of happiness that radiated through him, he was just along for the ride, wherever the night took the pair.

It took only a moment for them to reach the area where the tables were set up with the refreshments, there was a little punch bowl where he gathered two cups and poured them each one. Zykeal would turn and offer one to Dealla, his other hand shifting to touch the hilt of that wand he had stationed in the old-school gun holster that was strapped along his shoulders. A finger would tap against it before he shifted the hand away from it to grasp his own drink to take a sip from it. Setting the drink down to his side, he questioned, "So, this costume party, do you think we'll fit in?" he looked down at his own attire and figured they would, but, wanted to make small talk.

Finding his gaze shift from his outfit, he looked behind him to the table and murmured quietly, "No Barmbrack..." he observed, how ridiculous. What was a Halloween feast without the famous Irish traditional bread? The boy supposed he could have just called upon a house-elf and request it, but, he didn't like to bother the workers much, they worked tirelessly dealing with children non-stop. Quickly he turned back to Dealla and had a question for her, "What's your favorite sweet?" he continued with the small talk, "I know you had that cake at your birthday, where ya thwapped' me," he smirked, remembering the day.

Unusually, he wasn't that into sweet treats. They never really hit the spot for him much and his palate seemed to prefer more of a salty and savory flavor. This was no issue though, this was his favorite holiday and it was centered around candies and sweets most of the time. It was one of the only days of the year he didn't mind having more than the normal amount. Once again though, his gaze stayed upon Dealla, unable to take his eyes off her own for a little while as she responded to him and talked. Before long though, he felt the need to take a quick observation of their surroundings.

Lingering worries kept nagging at the back of his thoughts as the last ball seemed to flash like a fireball through his eyes. The creature's attacks and the chaos that followed left the then first-year with an impression of absurd danger that surrounded the young students at all times. As he looked around, he made sure, to keep an eye out for anything that seemed wrong and out of place. Now, his hand that was free was resting his fingertips against the ivory-white hilt of his wand as his eyes meticulously scanned the room before the beautiful pair.

Wyatt could clearly see how his words had affected the Hufflepuff. Her slight gloomy expression and glossy eyes were what gave it away… until it didn’t. Seemingly out of nowhere, her face lost all of its emotion. "Yes," she said. After a chuckle, she continued, "you're probably right. So, who did you come here with?" Wyatt was more than annoyed. The familiarity was gone! Now he was back to feeling terribly anxious about the whole event. About his beautiful date that he was terrified to talk to...

He wasn’t going to let that happen. He wasn’t going to let Autumn be the bigger person. She was going down right alongside Wyatt in this meaningless fight he was instigating. If only Springhall could see him now. She'd probably never talk to him again. “Oh, like you care,” he said after a scoff. “You’re only talking to me because you want check up on your lab rat for a little where are they now after the rumors thing. Have you spoken to Zoldak already or do I have the honor of being interviewed first,” he asked, his tone bitter.

From where he sat in the chair, leaning back with one leg draped over the other, he looked Autumn up and down quickly, though it wasn’t to observe, just to make her feel awkward. “I don’t know how thick you think I am, but I’m not so incredibly stupid that I’d believe your true intentions are good right now. Having a conversation with me like we’re old pals? We’re barely acquaintances, you sorry excuse for a Hufflepuff.”

Was he just taking out his anxiety and inexplicable anger (that he always had) on Autumn cause she was the closest thing around at the moment? Yes. Did he care? Not really! What, was he supposed to? Being the selfish twelve-year-old brat Wyatt was, he was willing to pick a fight with anyone to keep himself from dealing with his anxiety and sitting around with his own thoughts. It wasn’t like he was ruining a friendship. He didn’t have any to ruin, and especially not with Autumn Artemia Ivy.

Ethen let out a slight chuckle as he was called gorgeous by his date. He was pretty sure he had never been called gorgeous but he knew Atlas tended to get as nervous as him when it came to complimenting one another. When she mentioned his shiny shoes, he slightly lifted his foot with a nod. “Well, you know I do love a shiny shoe,” he smiled as the girl’s face began to redden. He found it still odd how just the slight shift in their relationship had turned them from the closest of friends to awkward bumbling messes who seemed like they barely knew one another. But Ethen hoped that it would only get easier.

Peering into the eyes of the little fox, Ethen kept his smile as they began their clumsy dance. He knew they likely looked a bit awkward as they moved across the dance floor but each moment of the dance allowed Ethen to relax more. It began to feel like he was just enjoying some crazy time with his best friend again despite being unable to pull his eyes off the girl. Her hair was shorter than usual and each time he refocused on her face a warmth moved through him of pure happiness.

“I have to say, you are the finest dancer I have ever danced with,” Ethen said through a smile as the girl diverted her focus momentarily towards the floor. In truth, she was the only person he had ever danced with but he had enjoyed every second close to her. “Another few balls and we might be professional,” he said giving her hand a light squeeze.

Just as Ethen began to feel the music’s rhythm and believed that he and Atlas might not look as crazy, the intense and dramatic tune turned into a soft and slow rhythm. Halting and the dance to peer at the others, Ethen kept his fingers interlaced with Atlas’ as he watched for a moment. It seemed that the slower tone of the music that the students quickly shifted into a more intimate slow dance that seemed more like tight hugging with a little sway.

All the fake bravado of the first dance quickly left Ethen as he turned back to Atlas. They had hugged plenty of times but this seemed much different and he didn’t even know if the girl wanted to slow dance. No! Don’t talk yourself out of it. Come on, you can do it, he told himself. “I guess no more jigging,” Ethen said softly to Atlas.

After inhaling and exhaling deeply to calm his growing nerves, Ethen released her hand and wrapped both his hands around Atlas’ waist before pulling her closer into a tentative hug. Close enough to feel the girl’s warmth, Ethen could feel his heart pounding in his chest and wouldn’t have been surprised if it hopped out of his chest to run away. Only moving his feet slightly, Ethen began to sway some to turn the tightening embrace into some semblance of a dance. So close to the girl, he found himself unable to speak as if his jaw was welded shut.

Peering down at Atlas, Ethen couldn’t peel his eyes away from her. Even behind her mask, his eyes could see her soft and familiar features. He began to have a nearly screaming impulse to lift his mask to kiss the girl. His nerves kept him from moving on the impulse. She was his best friend and had come as his date but didn’t know if it was still the right move. He didn’t want to make things awkward and a sudden unwanted kiss was just about the most perfect way to make the rest of the night an uncomfortable mess. Come on, you can do it! No no, bad idea. Or it is the best idea! Or she would get mad at me. Hush just relax Ethen. Don’t be so awkward. His mind continued to wage its war but with each passing moment, he began to relax more with the feel of Atlas in his arms.

It was perfect. The lighting, the mood, the decorations. Seeing Rose happy was probably the highlight of it all, though, especially when she started to enjoy herself on the dance floor. It got him feeling a certain way... a way that made his heart soar in his chest and his lips twinge up in a smile. He really wanted to tell her, and he almost got the chance to.. until Ana decided to ruin it all for them.

If he hadn't known about her obnoxious tripping trick from childhood, maybe he would've assumed that it was an accident. But it wasn't. Ana purposefully did it to ruin their night, to make herself feel big and powerful. Eyre helped Rose back onto her feet and glared daggers into Ana as she went through her faux spiel about being sorry. If that wasn't enough to make his anger catapult into a whistling boil, it was when she winked at him. She fucking winked at him and flounced away, as if that wasn't an invitation in itself to confront her.

It was clear that Rose wanted him to let it go and to write it off as a dumb attempt at soiling their night, but his eyes were dead-locked on Ana as she went to the punch bowl. If he really did feel the way that he felt about Rose, he couldn't let her be pushed around by Ana any longer. Even if it wasn't as passive as the red-head would've liked.

"...Sorry, Rosie." Eyre mumbled, pulling out his wand. "...I can't let her get away with that. Here." He pushed his wand into her hands as a promise that he wouldn't fight her again as he took large strides towards Ana, determined to tell her how he felt.

Eyre didn't bother introducing himself to her date as he walked over to the punch bowl and took Ana tightly by the wrist. As he began to drag her to the side of the ballroom, he figured that he probably came off as a bastard to the guy she was with, but he didn't care. If he had a problem with it, he wasn't afraid to share his side of the story. Ana tried to wriggle out of his grasp, but he was much too familiar with her tactics to ease up on his grip until they were both a decent ways away from the crowd.

"That was really fucking cheeky what you did back there." Eyre growled at her, gesturing towards the dance floor. He blocked the way back into the crowd with his body, towering over her with the few extra inches of height that he had on her to make sure that she'd stay put. Even looking at her after she put him in the hospital wing was like ripping a plaster off too soon, and he was not about to let her run away from him.

"What is wrong with you?"

The tone of his voice was hurt than angry. He crossed his arms around himself as an attempt to keep himself rigid and calm, but the look in his eyes told a different story.

"After all that you've done to me already, you've decided to go out of your way to ruin my night. Tell me, do you get joy out of making my life miserable? Do you?" He implored her, stepping dangerously close so that he might study the fine lines on her face to see any drop of regret. He was about to say about how he couldn't believe her behavior, but he stopped himself. After the fight they had, Eyre wasn't sure that he even knew Ana at all.

Glancing around the decorated room, Heather smiled contentedly. While she was a bit late to the ball, thanks to some last-minute issues, the girl was still excited at the thought of what was to come. After all, despite the grim future she had envisioned a week ago, during the last few days everything fell into order, and now not only she had got the costume she wanted, but she had also managed to find a partner!

Initially, too caught up with her own personal troubles, Heather didn’t really bother with finding someone to come to the ball with. And, when she finally focused on the upcoming event, almost everyone already had a date. Even though she was a bit saddened by the fact, mainly because she looked forward to the dancing segment of the party, Heather hoped that she would at least meet with some of her friends. But it seemed like luck was on her side, though, as just a couple of days ago, she met another first year in the common room, and, they agreed on going together to the Fall Ball. Maybe she was a bit too excited, though, so in all honesty, Rohan could have all the reasons to be scared of Heather, but the girl hoped that they would get along just fine and that this night would be unforgettable.

Sitting in the middle of the ballroom, The Ravenclaw already took notice of some familiar faces- despite the masks covering up their faces. Most of them were already grouped in pairs or different groups, and this only fueled Heather's wish to find Rohan soon in the sea of people. Before they parted ways, the girl told him that she would be waiting next to one of the snack tables from the sides, so she moved towards an emptier space. Feeling the cold metal of the mask cooling off her face, the girl took a deep breath. She was excited, but, at the same time, it was the first ball she was ever attending.

Deciding to clear her mind of any stress, Heather poured some punch and turned her attention towards the pairs currently dancing. Some of them were easily recognizable, but most of them were faceless, hidden figures living in the moment. For a split second, the girl thought that one of the pairs resembled her two best friends- Henry and Miranda. On second thought, though, Heather realized that she wasn't even sure that they knew each other... If they did, it would certainly be a great way of bringing her circle of friends together.

Suddenly, the girl heard her name being called out. Turning around, she was met with the sight of a certain Slytherin, whom she hadn’t seen in some time. And, it seems like her friend was just right then thinking about her too. “Kara!” Heather approached the girl, ready for a hug. “It’s me, Heather,” she replied softly, realising that the mask probably obscured her identity. Then, her eyes fell on Kara's partner- a pretty blonde. Furrowing her eyebrows worriedly, the Ravenclaw excused herself. “Oh! You two wanted to dance, right? Go on, I didn’t want to interrupt you.”

Letting the two girls have their fun, Heather twirled around, looking for Rohan. Hopefully, he was around the ballroom, searching for her too.

Louis couldn’t shake off the feeling that everything was going to go wrong. What if the bad wizards were going to break into the ball? What if the ghosts went ballistic and attacked the kids? Or worse- What if there would be no food left? Technically, that wasn’t even possible. Hogwarts was known as a safe and welcoming academy, who took care of the guests and their own students, so only the best would be provided; but the blue-eyed boy, despite his wishes, couldn’t seem to manage to calm down.

After all, today was the day of the ball, the same ball he was going to with Jacqueline. With Jac, his sweet muse. It still seemed so surreal that the girl agreed on going together, that not even the last few hours spent getting ready for the big event could keep him from thinking that it was all a dream. Jacqueline was not only his crush but his first real friend. So, obviously, Louis wanted everything to be perfect.

But, the boy felt like it wasn't going to be. Even from the start, it seemed that things were going downhill; where was his partner? Standing like a fool next to the entrance to the ballroom, Louis was waiting for his date to show up. Despite the cool exterior, he had started to fear that Jac decided that he wasn't worthy to be her partner, and that she would find another better date- but then she showed up. And when she did, boy, he was speechless.

Jacqueline has always been gorgeous, but tonight she was more than that- she was angelic, with her long, pink dress falling to the ground and making her look like the princess she was. Noticing that he forgot to speak, the blue-eyed child softly shook his head. “Hello, Jacqueline.” He replied, letting out a small smile and softly mumbling out a small ‘perfect’, which came out louder than he had hoped to. Praying that his mask hid even in the slightest his reddened cheeks, Louis let out a nervous laugh. “The decorations, I mean. They’re- they're perfect.”

Clearing his throat, the boy looked around. There were people all over the place- some eating at the snack table, some simply chatting, and others dancing. And, if he remembered correctly, there was also another side of the ball- a costume party? Deciding to be gallant, Louis stepped in closer to Jacqueline. “What would you like to do first? I'll agree with anything you want,” he said, a playful grin playing at his lips. No matter what was going to happen, he was going to make the best of his situation. And, Jac’s happiness and fun were the best outcomes possible.

Breana couldn't help but snicker at her gentle friend. Despite her initial goal, seeing her newfound friend with his significant other did melt Breana's stoic exterior for a brief moment. She nodded back at the beautiful dhampir, though Brean couldn't hide the tinge of pain in her eyes as Nico reminded her of the last ball. Still, it was clear that the Slytherin girl meant no harm of such a reminder, so the freckled child sought not to simmer on it too much. "Aye, it'd be nice to be with some good company with me for a change... and ey, I call this suit an upgrade, wouldn't ya say? Easier to run in, methinks." She said, lightly taking a jab at her previous ball experience and subtlety telling Nico that it's fine. Still, despite the lighthearted joke that she made, Breana kept catching herself clutching unto the hilt of her wand. It became almost second nature to her, to be ready to be terrified.

As the girl saw another girl walking up to the trio she felt a light flick hitting her forehead. "Gah, butternut!" She exclaimed her signature cursing through baking terms. She looked around to find the source of that little hit. It was... a cufflink? That's odd. She looked over at her giant friend first, considering he was the closest to her. The cufflink doesn't match his outfit at all, and as far as Breana knew, there was no one up in the ceiling... right? Her gut instinct was to look up, the hold that she had on her wand grew tighter. Just as she was getting ready into battle mode, the Ravenclaw then was brought back down to Hogwarts by the greeting of the raven-haired beauty talking to the crew.

Wasn't she the girl she met back in Summer Camp? Breana could vaguely remember, it was practically a lifetime ago for the girl. A lot has made her change since then. Still, it didn't excuse her to not be polite to the person. Breana looked at the dark-haired child and gave her a brief nod as she relaxed her posture. She sighed to herself, almost forgetting what she got so worked up about. Breana looked down at the cufflink, twirling it around between her forefinger and thumb before putting it in her breast pocket. Best to solve that mystery later.

It wasn't too surprising for the little Ravenclaw that another ball goer would enter into the scene with the others. Is it maybe that Rosie person Quinn mentioned before? Though, as they approached, they up and introduced themselves to Breana first and foremost. That instantly caught Breana by surprise. Jay, they called themselves. So definitely NOT a Rosie. Another curveball that this Jay character threw at the little Breana was not only a compliment but also a request for a dance. If she were drinking water right now she would've spat it all in front of their face. Thankfully, Breana wasn't drinking, but her mouth did drop at the sudden invitation, even more so when it was someone she barely knew. Now Breana's mind went into overdrive? Who are they? Why are they asking for a dance? If she said yes, would her breath stink if she started talking to them while they dance? "I-i... Uh, er..." Was all that the girl could stammer out. Her breath was shortening, is her face going red? Without a second thought, she grabbed the nearest person there, which was Quinn, and said, "UHMWOULDYOUEXCUSEMEFORASEC?KAYTHANKS" She blurted out before dragging Quinn out of earshot.

"Ohhhhhhkay...Okayokayokay." Breana panicked. Her mind is going into what she would call tornado mode. All various thoughts start melding into this hotpot of supposed assumptions. "Quinn, this Jay just.... asked me for a dance.... Dunno who this is.... should I go for it?? " She said in a sort of shout-whisper. "I-i mean, I don't mind, but-- " And then she stopped herself. Her first thought was of Pericles, of all people. They aren't even together, but for some reason, she thought of him first. A young one's heart is a fickle thing. "... W-well, I mean, I just.... I dunno... w-what do you think?!"

”HANZO, WHAT IN THE NAME OF MERLIN?!”

Oh, God no. Hanzo, amidst his blissful ignorance, had eagerly anticipated shock from his good friend, perhaps a cheery laugh in acknowledgement of his sudden ambush. Physical retribution? The young man supposed, in hindsight, it really wasn’t a secret that Romeo liked to use his hands. Being the brilliant strategist that he was, why hadn't he seen this coming, again? It didn’t matter now. Anticipating the likeness of a merciless blatch or forward tackle, the young Norwegian’s heart shuddered to a stop at the odd shifting of weight as his breath caught deep in his throat, his figure tense and face set in a slight wince as to soften his meeting with the unforgiving ground. Thankfully, it seemed as if irony was his friend in this instance – feeling no further change in his own equilibrium, his eyes promptly fluttered open as to find a perfect view of the back of Romeo’s head. The ex-Keeper had exclaimed something in English with quite the harsh voice, a phrase that in his adrenaline stupor the child wouldn’t be able to properly decipher. However, at the sound of his friend’s laugh, the boy couldn’t help but release one of his own – it was all hilarious! “I am sorry,” he tried to state in Russian with an ounce of sobriety, only to completely and utterly fail. “You were so scared!” Then, pulling himself together and wiping a few stray tears from his eyes, he shortly reverted back to English – “I like your costume. You look very scary.” Scary, for lack of a better adjective, the linguistic expert’s worst enemy.

Pierre Marchonne, Second Year Gryffindor and Quidditch Keeper – also, allegedly, Romeo’s twin brother. The Norwegian’s crystalline-blue eyes scanning over the familiar visage of the other individual, an overwhelming sense of surprise would wash over his consciousness in that moment, the sort that stifled all other imaginative thought and left one’s physical being frozen in confusion – Romeo, of course, had mentioned the name of this new acquaintance many a time, typically relating the title to haphazardly executed decisions and bouts of paranoia, but never before had Hanzo imagined such a reference so closely linked to his schoolmate. Two Romeos, how about that! he couldn’t help but wonder breathlessly, his eyes widening in the slightest as an exhale of curiosity escaped from his lips. How did he feel about this sudden revelation? To be honest, he couldn’t quite decide yet. After a split second of shock, however, his subconsciousness would soon come to a conclusion in his stead – Perhaps if I can find a friend in Romeo, I can find the same in Pierre. He seemed to love his brother, in the least, the peripheral memory of the other’s panic regarding Hanzo’s sudden ambush now relevant in his thoughts. They were friends then, as long as the other would accept his nonverbal offer for brotherhood. He would offer it by a sudden break in his own silence –

Offering the Quidditch player a warm smile and a pale hand to shake, a rambunctious yet genuine grin would soon begin to fester on his face as the words slipped smoothly out of his mouth. “Spitting image!” he spoke cheerily, the phrase being one he had previously read in an English dictionary. Then, moving on from that awkward moment of translation, “You’re a Quidditch Player?” he exclaimed in question, an eyebrow raising in mischief and interest. “Best sport, amirite? And,” he chuckled, nudging his friend with a foot, “if you play anything like your brother on the pitch, I bet you’re one helluva keeper!” His natural vocals may have been soft and gentle, but his tone sure was feisty – he shoved his fist up in the air animatedly, his left arm promptly wrapping tightly about the lower neck of his carrier as to make up for the sudden loss of balance. “You play for Gryffindor, then?” he would continue on with genuine interest. “I heard they had a rough season last year. But you know what they say – erm, what is it, again? – records are made for… hurting!” Did he say that right? Probably not. But hey, at least it wasn’t in broken English. “You can count on my attendance!”

Then, at the indication that he reminded the other of the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain, a laugh awkwardly escaped his lips, his chin coming to rest upon Romeo’s shoulder as he considered such a concept. Was it that Pierre had watched the summer match and had associated him with the same position? Did they look alike? “I’ve never met him before,” he finally settled on, dismissing the idea from his consciousness. “He sounds like a pretty lucky guy, though, to have a Marchonne like yourself on his team. And hey,” he chuckled in good nature, “if you think you’ve met me before, imagine my surprise!” It was, of course, a small joke, and one made in good nature. He, of course, wasn’t mad at Romeo, nor had any negative emotion festered at the sight of his clone. Romeo’s twin was actually pretty cool, in fact, if not eccentric – and was that a broom he was holding? Wow, he must have really liked Quidditch! Even such a concept aside, though, he couldn’t help but lower his voice in confusion, reverting back to Russian in a moment’s notice – “You didn’t tell me you had a twin brother, Romeo!” he said in happy confusion. “He seems like a cool guy!”

Before he could continue his conversation with his friend, however, his thoughts were thoroughly interrupted by that of a new and unfamiliar arrival – it was a girl, as it would seem, an older and very pretty one. From Ilvermorny? Hogwarts, maybe? He hadn’t seen her around Durmstrang, in the least, and he liked to think he knew his classmates well, if not on a personal level. He supposed it didn’t matter, however, not in light of the situation the small group now found themselves in. Suddenly, the young man felt rather uncomfortable sitting on the back of his friend – a small, embarrassed blush creeping over his cheeks, he would waste no time in slipping down to the firm ground, taking a moment to straighten his robes as a tentative look transfixed itself upon his face. Why was it that he felt nervous? He didn’t know. It wasn’t attraction – not that she didn’t look amazing, but he’d had his fill of girls for a little while – but it certainly wasn’t fear either. After all, why should he be afraid of her? Perhaps it was simply discomfort, then, the ex-Captain reasoned, the mere need to look mature in front of the upperclassmen. The foreign students. Whatever it was, it would shut him up for the time being, his small hands stuffing themselves into his Hogwarts-robe pockets as he lowered his chin in slight wariness, a frown growing upon his face. He would have to fight the urge to mutter something to Romeo in Russian – tact was, in fact, a skill he possessed, and one he found he might need in this situation.

Having reached the top of the stairs eventually, the old Headmaster would shuffle towards the entrance door in his own time. The entire trip on the way here had exhausted the poor man. Taking a few moments to catch his breath in front of the door, it seemed the party was in full gallop. The sight of it all reminded him very dearly of the school back home. How they would love these parties. He could tell a few of his students apart as he saw them mingle with those of the other three schools. Where had time flown off to in the past hundred years? He got old that had happened. Whether for better or worse, he'd leave that for his wife to decide. Perhaps he should have looked into her joining him on this trip, she would have loved a place like this. Then again, no one else had brought their spouse as far as he was aware.

With a somewhat lost look on his face, the Frenchman would enter the room. His first thought would have been to find a chair. He passed an adult couple where the woman addressed the man as Plott. A name he recognised to belong to the headmaster of the American wizarding school. While he wasn't familiar with the American way of treating a ball like this, he recognised a certain pizazz the man bore in his posture. Eugene was absolutely on board for it, evidenced by the big wrinkled grin on his face. Ah, how he loved this.

Leaning on his cane a bit heavier than where he began at the bottom of the stairs, his back was telling him it was time to have a rest. Eugene quickly located a chair for him to sit on, carefully seating himself, so he could have a little peace. His eyes would wander about, taking in as much of the figures at the ball. It was important to note the tone of a dance, was there a purpose behind it. Status, joy, love,... it didn't matter, but it was crucial to assess it before mingling with the party. It did not take long for him to spot a certain adult figure he would recognise as his greeter. Miss Jensen was her name if he recalled correctly, and he was not one to forget a name or face. With the face obscured by a mask however, there was only her white hair to catch her in a crowd.

Slowly the old man got up from his chair. There was no time to play the old rot, he was meant to live his life. Controlling his breath as he walked, he slowly fixed his posture as he approached the young Head of House. "Madame Jensen, my weakened legs will surely not allow you to float across this dance floor like the angelic figure you are. But would you indulge this old man a taste of heaven by sharing a dance with him?"

If you're reading this... You're awesome.
