2020, Stage 1 Group C: Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw

In response to Raine Lamik simply nodded. It was best not to talk. Not now, with the headache and the runny nose and the sore throat and the general hatred of all things living or dead. The two HAD to win. It would be embarrassing beyond belief if they didn't. On the bright side, Damion was now on fire. Huh. Lamik thought. I never thought that I'd think of someone being on fire as "The bright side". Am I a bad person now? Moral ambiguity aside, both he and his partner had managed to land a hit. It wasn't enough to win, but it was something.

ROUND SIX

As the rounds went on, it became clearer that both Gryffindors' magically-induced respiratory illnesses have got the better of them. Raine Sage and Lamik Fillestar both decided to cast a Flipendo—and both missed, too. None of them would be able to see clearly out of their teary eyes, and combined with the uncontrollable sniffles and sneezes that would plague them, casting and hitting sure will be difficult.

Damion White, the lone Ravenclaw, bobbed and weaved, and though his shoulder was on fire, so too was his ass. He finally succeeded in his continuous attempts at dodging, cleanly avoiding both of his opponents' sloppy spells.

At this point, it was anybody's game.

Breathing was getting hard to do. Her vision was getting blurry and she was constantly breathing out of her mouth. She hated being sick. But at least at home, her aunt or her mother, when she was awake, would make her some soup or give her some potions to clear her up straight away. Now she had to wait until the end of the duel to get a Pepper-Up Potion from the Nurse. But Raine knew that she couldn't cry about her predicament now. She needed to help Lamik get their opponent out. They had to help Gryffindor get a victory.

Doing as strategized

Damion was continuously trying to attempt to dodge and was happy that he was able to do so. He had been a flame by the spell that was cast on him. He hated that he had not been able to dodge the spell earlier. He wanted to win this and show his talent.

Another attempt, another miss. Things were getting worse and worse- his eyes were filling up with tears, another symptom of his already gross magical illness. He could barely see! Lamik blinked the tears out of his eyes to the best of his ability, managing to clear up his vision just enough to give him a chance to land another hit. The Gryffindor raised his wand with a shaky hand and kept on fighting.

ROUND SEVEN

And the bad luck seems to be keeping its tight grip on both Gryffindors—or maybe good luck has @Damion White in its clutches. Whatever it is, @Lamik Fillestar's and @Raine Sage's spells failed to connect with their single target once more, the Ravenclaw easily sidestepping all their spells.

In the first few rounds of this duel, Dmitri is under the opinion that all four duellists might have underestimated the power of a Bogies curse.

It obviously wreaked havoc on the accuracy of the lions' attacks.

They will only have to hit the White kid a couple of times to knock him out, as evidenced by the bruises and burn marks marring his teenage stature. Will they be able to do it before succumbing to a nasty curse?

In the next rounds, the crowd may finally get an answer to this longstanding question.

Damion was glad that he had yet again dodged the spells that were thrown at him. He was glad that he had been successful in doing this. He wanted to be able to win this and help make his house proud. He wanted to make Dyllie and his parents proud. He wanted to do his partner proud too. He was looking forward to what would happen. He was eager to see this through.

The clock was winding down and Lamik could feel it. He didn't have many casts left in- him 4 at most, if he had to guess. Losing this duel would be extremely embarrassing, and yet the odds that that was what was about to happen were growing. There was still hope though- there was always hope. At this point, the match was just a roll of the dice.

She didn't want to lose. She knew it was supposed to be in good fun but damn it all she didn't want to lose! Cursing in her head, Raine inhaled deeply through her mouth and breathed out the harsh air as a way to try to gain more oxygen in her lungs. Breathing was hard as her congestion was getting worse. Seeing was hard. Hell, hearing was beginning to get hard for her and vertigo was starting to set in. All the signs of one hell of a cold. Honestly, not only would losing to a second-year be embarrassing but losing to a second-year who dodged his way through the duel would be even worse.

And that thought just pissed the third-year off something terrible...and made her irrational.

"You're noding but a coward, Whide! Why don't you addack one ob us? Come on, den!"

Being sick always made Raine irritable. She knew that she shouldn't trash talk in a duel that was simply a game. But damn it all...

She wanted to win.

ROUND EIGHT

And what do you know—similar to their performance in the previous six rounds, none of @Raine Sage's nor @Lamik Fillestar's spells would meet its intended target. In the referee stand, Dmitri could be seen nonchalantly drinking a glass of water, not even bothered to watch the fight anymore. At this point, nothing else was different from the previous rounds.

And honestly, the Slytherin Captain was getting bored.

The same as the previous round @Damion White dodged and succeeded, running circles around his slowly weakening opponents. Will his luck hold up? Or has he been whisked away to the end of the game only to be eliminated at the last minute?

We will just have to wait and see.
