It was an early Friday morning, just a few days after the new school year and the sky was clear, the air brisk- a perfect Autumn day in Scotland. Cosmo grinned happily to herself, and moved further down the grassy hill, away from Hogwarts towering behind her. It was the first real chance she'd had to be outside since she first arrived, and she was delighted. Between getting lost in the halls, new faces to memorize and the biggest meals Cosmo had ever consumed, there just hadn't been time to explore the grounds. But now she could! She hoisted her massive bag higher on her shoulder, and continued trudging on until she was out of the shadow of the castle.

Cosmo turned in a circle, surveying her surroundings. The sun shone down, illuminating each dewdrop perfectly, and scattering light across the black lake until it shone gold. A quietness hung in the air only occasionally broken by a birds whistle and the beauty of it all made the hairs stand up on Cosmo's arms deliciously. Barely anyone else was outside at this hour, and Cosmo made the most of it, pulling an easel and several canvases out of her bag. As she set up her art space Cosmo wondered what she should paint and eventually her gaze fell on a small patch of violets, surrounded by fallen leaves of the most beautiful red and orange tones. She smiled again, and began humming as she squirted out paints, eager for the first curious student to come and check out what she was doing.

It was early morning on.. Friday, Christian remembered. These last few days since Christian had arrived at school had been a whirlwind, with each day bringing the passing of seemingly endless amounts of new faces, twisting corridors that all seemed to lead everywhere yet nowhere at the same time, and heaps of food that always sent Christian to bed full and drowsy. However as magnificent as the castle was, and how it left Christian wonder struck even after hearing stories about it from his older sister, Christian couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by it all, almost to the point where it felt suffocating. It was this feeling, and Christian's natural curiosity, that led to him wandering onto the outer grounds of Hogwarts.

It was a beautiful day outside, with a cloudless sky and pleasant breeze. With Autumn just around the corner, Christian couldn't help but admire the way the leaves changed from their normal vibrant green to a vast array of reds and oranges. Walking a bit farther from the grand castle, Christian couldn't help but giggle to himself as he purposely stepped onto the fallen leaves, taking great satisfaction as they crunched beneath his tiny boot. Looking up from his childish antics, Christian noticed someone in the distance, a girl that looked to be about his age. Upon further staring, Christian also noticed that she was painting, or at least beginning to do so as she had a few blank canvases nearby as she focused on the one that she had on her easel. Curious as to what the girl might be painting, Christian approached the girl, intent on at least making her acquaintance.

Fear not, the passage of time, lest you get swept away by it and lose yourself

Cosmo heard rustling, followed by a giggle and looked up to see a boy her age with short fluffy golden hair, and sparkling green eyes happily crunching over the drying leaves that lay scattered over the ground yonder. He noticed her, and stared for a short while before moving towards her. She grinned happy at him and waved even before he was within talking distance. Anyone who liked crunchy leaves was worth knowing, she decided and so she started to produce a second easel from her bag and set it up for when he was there. It did not cross her mind that he might not like painting, because who didn't like painting!? She looked up again to check how close he was now, and was pleased to see him much closer.

"Hey there!!" she called, beckoning him closer in case he had any hesitancy about whether he was welcome. She continued grinning as he walked closer, and when he finally got there she was bouncing from excitement. "My name is Cosmo, and I'd love it if you wanted to paint! Or just sit and enjoy the morning together!" She started rooting around once again in her bag, "I think I have some cookies in here if you want some..." Sitting back up she offered a small container of chocolate chip cookies, before taking a deep breath, realising she was probably being quite overwhelming. Slower this time, she asked "What's your name?"
