Group B: Hufflepuff vs Slytherin
Illowy couldn't help but laugh at his self indulgent quip, "Don't flatter yerself." the very idea was somewhere between the most nauseating and most hilarious assumption she'd ever heard. Sure, she'd set her sights on quite the talented Slytherin, but he was not where near that.
Maria seemed to be slipping, either in confidence or competence, since the downfall of her teammate as her spell completely backfired on herself. What a pity, the poor Puffball really couldn't seem to catch a break.
The very last thing she expected as Erik called his spell, was for it to fly straight towards herself. Catching the flash of it early enough to avoid to completely, but not without a flicker of rage sparking in her chest. Whether it was on purpose or by accident, she wasn't sure; but never mind that, Illowy would have to grant him the benefit of the doubt that it was an accident. She wasn't letting him break her focus like that as she cast her own spell, hitting Maria and setting her sleeve aflame.
There would be time later to rip him a new one about it.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Erik was confused as he noticed his spell not going for his prey, but was flying towards his very own teammate. What the..., was all the Norwegian boy could think of as he noticed Illowy to nimbly dodge the blindfold. He hadn't aimed for her or did he? Maybe unconciously to blind her as that would stop her checking him out. Erik couldn't completely blame her. He was handsome after all. Besides it wasn't like he could stop being handsome all of the sudden.

Group B: Hufflepuff vs Slytherin
Like a cosmic joke, or an unending bad trope, Maria was on fire. Well, her sleeves were at least. Needless to say it made several bad memories surface, and if the Huffle was holding everything down before, she was sincerely considering puking all over the floor now. But then again, she did have some dignity left. Besides, breaking down and letting everyone down was the last thing she would want. No, she would see this through. On the plus side, she had always wanted to meet the new house elves in the hospital wing - if all this went sideways maybe it would be her chance to do so.
Tryna solve a problem like Maria.

Finally, luck seemed to take some pity on @Maria Dee. She was alone against two third year opponents, both of which seemed determined to end this duel as soon as possible, but for the first time, a spell hit the Slytherins - although it wasn't Maria's.
Maybe there was some substance to @Erik Tharaldson's claims that @Illowy Magnard was busy checking him out? Whatever it was, it seemed that Illowy's focus this round had drifted, and her so far perfect track-record received a huge mar as her Knockback Jinx backfired, sending her stumbling a step back as she was hit with the spell from her own wand. Despite this, she was still able to dodge the flames Maria sent her way - but then, they didn't even come close, far from perfectly aimed, which was likely a result from the tickling sensation that Maria still had to fight - or the distraction from the green flames eating away at her sleeve.
Erik on the other hand saw his chance to make up for his blunder from the previous round, and hit Maria with a well-aimed Knockback Jinx.
The last standing Hufflepuff was starting to look rather worse for wear, but at least the flames went out, and she would feel the effects of last round's Tickling Charm wear off. She'd be back to full aiming capacity next round.

Group B: Hufflepuff vs Slytherin
As the flash of blue left the tip of Erik's wand he couldn't have been more ecstatic as he noticed it hit his opponent square in the chest. Full marks for him this round. Besides that it seemed both his teammate and his opponent were struggling. As hard as she tried the badger just wasn't able to lay a hit on them. The fact she was still trying was stupid, but courageous. But most of all just plain stupid. She should've forfeited already, but alas. It seemed like she wasn't one of the brightest.
As Erik's smile played on his lips it grew much wider as he noticed that his very own teammate had managed to get her own spell to backfire. This caused him to laugh out loud. See, Magnard? This is what I meant. Stop eyeing me and instead focus on your spellwork. It's severly lacking from where I'm standing. Either do something about it or, the werewolf pointed towards the Huffle, she will. That is, if she can start aiming properly.

Group B: Hufflepuff vs Slytherin
Illowy felt her cheeks and ears burn after her spell backfired on herself, causing her to stumble back a step. Whether that burning was from embarrassment, self frustration at her misfire, or rage at Erik for mocking her, it was all up for debate. All the same, she had to keep her wit about her before she allowed him to screw up her concentration any further.
While he and Merlin-knew-who-else might've thought her keeping an eye on him might've meant something gross, the display of his own misfire the round previous only solidified in her that she needed to make sure he didn't hit her instead of the Puffball. The last thing she needed to happen was for him to screw them both over, and by default, their team overall. They had the same goal, and while Illowy couldn't stand the lad, she had to try to temper herself if she wanted to win.
"A stumble is not a fall." she warned, pale eyes staying honed on Maria, though her words were clearly directed towards her teammate, "And you'd be wise not to throw stones while living in a glass house."
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

With the fire gone, and the tickling over Maria tried to catch her breath again. Only to have the wind knocked out of her by another incoming spell. Frustrating, isn't it? By some stroke of luck, instead of hitting her, one of her opponents had attacked themselves. There seemed to be tension between the two. Now she was tired. But the Hufflepuff's pride wouldn't let her give in. She grit her teeth. Time to try again.

Whatever one might say about @Maria Dee and her duelling skills, anyone would have to admit she was tenacious, stubbornly refusing to go down or give up, and it built up some respect for her in Dealla's heart.
But still, fate wasn't quite on her side, although it seemed a little more balanced now than in the early exchanges. All three spells, a Tickling Charm from Maria's wand and another two Knockback Jinxes - didn't these third years know any other spells? - from @Illowy Magnard and @Erik Tharaldson were cast beautifully, and streaks of light arced through the air. Maria's spell was aimed at Illowy just as in the previous rounds - apparently she had determined the Slytherin girl to be the more dangerous opponent. Almost at the last second, Illowy seemed to realize this, and tried to sidestep the spell - but didn't quite manage to. The attack glanced off her shoulder, not a full hit, but still a hit. The first one for the Hufflepuff team in this duel.
Maybe it was a result of this - some surprise, the Badger finally fought back! - but Illowy's spell was not aimed as skillfully as before, and Maria easily managed to dodge the streak of blue. Erik, on the other hand, was not suffering from any such distractions: His spell hit Maria in the shoulder, knocking her slightly off-balance.
Dee gifted Maria with a tight smile, although the Hufflepuff's attention was likely focused on more important things. It seemed the duel wouldn't last much longer, but at least, finally, one of the girl's attacks had found its mark.

Group B: Hufflepuff vs Slytherin
Illowy seemed to be in a pickle. She had started off so strong in the duel, but now as they were nearing the end it seemed like she had decided to give the Huffle a chance, or she just got overconfident. If it was the first reasoning well then she must've simply pittied the poor helpless Huffle and that was a quality Erik couldn't stand. Though if it was the latter reasoning then she simply did not know her own limits and that in itself was another quality the werewolf did not tolerate. At least not if he was dependent of her. If she wanted to lose then she would have to do it in her own time, but she would not drag him with her. He wouldn't allow her.
Damn it, Magnard! Pull your head out of your ass and focus! I don't know what has gotten over you all of a sudden, but pull it together!

Group B: Hufflepuff vs Slytherin
Part of her was nearly shocked when the Huffle's spell managed to clip her shoulder, if only just barely. However, 'just barely' was enough as the sensation of being ticked filled her and she couldn't help but giggle. Though it might've been up for debate if she was giggling purely from the ticking charm, or because at long last one of the puffballs managed to actually do something to one of them.
Maybe it was a family trait, but there was something thrilling about that first hit from an opponent in a duel. Something that lit a spark in a person and started up the real excitement and adrenalin; even more so then when one landed their own hit against an opponent. What it pity it had to be so close to the end.
Pale, cold eyes fixated on the Hufflepuff, a sly smile spread on her lips through the giggling as she took her potion again, "Oh, believe me," she chortled, "I'm acutely aware of the situation. Its just a pity it took until now to be interesting."
