"There is always a risk of falling, no matter if you're in class or not." she shrugged. Of course Illowy knew it wasn't likely she'd die via falling off a broom in class. As long as there was a teacher or someone else around, she'd probably be perfectly fine. Even if she just broke something, they were witches and wizards at a magical school, she'd be perfectly fine after a pop in to the Hospital Wing. Those logical reassurances simply weren't always the most comfort though, "I suppose a slowing charm would be helpful, but I sooner just prefer keeping my feet on the ground if I can help it. she spoke sheepishly.Interactions: @Ruby Cazares

Illowy might've blushed at the genuine comment; though who could've been able to tell in the cool moonlight. The usually defensive snake felt a bit less guarded. It was nice to talk to someone about something like spell work and studying without feeling like she was boring someone to death; feeling like she might've actually been making a connection with someone.“That's fascinating,”
Her shoulders fell into a more relaxed state as she tucked a bit of dark hair behind her ear, for a moment forgetting the back scars on her neck and cheek that usually stoked insecurity in her, "What's your most recent favorite topic of study?" she asked curiously. Illowy, herself, tended to throw herself into different areas, letting herself fall down rabbit holes of study that often led her astray from whatever she might've originally been reading about; but that was the fun of it to her. There was a level of satisfaction starting a new section of notes on the things she'd learned about, and watching her stack of books climb as she sought out more details.
By this point she was fairly certain that if she could dorm in the Hogwarts library itself, she would, happily.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Stargazing

I knew that I most likely came off as very cocky...I didn't mean too; it just seemed that way when I was trying to prove a point. However the laugh was on me...as the professor began to read my cards something very odd happened. Even though I could sort of see while being blindfolded; I felt the need to remove the scarf I was using as a blindfold to watch the professor. As she stood before me seeming to have a hard time breathing stood & hovered my hand over her's...I wasn't sure if I should touch her. Was she having a vision? My grandmother used to tell me that when people are having vision's other's should never touch them...they could come out swinging.Interacting with: Rosalind Kibitzer

I honestly had no idea what to do so I sat back down; however the moment she came out of it the way she snapped at me made my eye's widen in shock...I didn't want to disrespect a teacher but I also didn't think it right for anyone to treat me like crap either. Therefore I simply settled for opening my bag of crystals that I always carry with me; when I found what I was looking for I placed a chunk of smokey quartz on the table near her "This is for you professor...it will provide protection. Good day." I stood & left her table then went to go find my way out...I was ready for bed.

It felt like a month while she was falling, when in truth not even a second had passed. But a lot could happen in a second. While Dee's reflexes and survival instincts had entirely failed her, Ileen's thankfully worked a little better than the Ravenclaw's. A little. Not much.Dee could feel Ileen's hands try to grab her, to keep her from falling to the ground, hands out, but the fabric of Dee's jumper slipped through her friend's fingers, finding no purchase.Accuracy roll: [d20: 5] + 7 = 12
The touch of Ileen's fingers, the slight jerk on her clothes, at least jolted Dee back to the present, kicked her into action instead of just staring into the empty space next to her, where she'd heard the voice, whispering in her ear. Or... had she? Had she just imagined it? There was nothing there.
Either way, her instincts kicked in, and she tried to grab hold of whatever was nearest - in this case, Ileen's arm - to slow her rapid descent to the ground.Accuracy roll: [d20: 7] + 7 = 14
But she wasn't fast enough, her hands holding onto nothing. There was no sudden slowing of time, sharpening of senses the way they described it in the books. Whatever adrenaline was supposed to do to you, it wasn't fast enough to save her.
Panic forced Dee's eyes wide as she watched the glint of glass coming closer, now in an odd, twisted position from trying to catch hold of Ileen. She could already feel the phantom pain of glass slicing into her palms, but at the last second, her body made an uncontrolled, desperate attempt to avoid that fate. She twisted to the side, narrowly missing most of the glass, only the heel of her hand coming down on a sliver of glass lying next to the bottle while the rest of her body crashed into the ground ungracefully.Evasive Maneuvers: [d10: 7]

For a moment, she stayed that way, stunned, her breath forced out of her. Her palm didn't hurt much, not more than her shoulder from crashing into the ground, but a second later, she could feel warm blood trickling along her palm, and she rolled onto her back with a groan, away from the glass, before she sat up.
Her palm was bleeding, pulsing along with a sharp, cutting pain, different from the blunt blow to her shoulder and hip. Oh, but it could have been much worse. "Shit," she cursed, and held it away from her body, trying to keep the blood from dripping on her already dirt-stained clothing. Then she looked up at Ileen, a different concern foremost on her mind. "Wait, did you hear that?"

Ileen’s heart skipped a beat when she tried to grab her friend’s arm without any success. She felt the fabric slipping through her fingers and inhaled sharply as she helplessly watched her friend falling.
Only a second later, when Dee crashed on the ground, Ileen noticed the broken glass just a few inches away from the Ravenclaw girl. It bordered on a miracle that she had missed the shards - the young Slytherin preferred not to imagine the scenario in which this seemingly harmless stumbling could have ended.
Worried, she crouched down next to Dee and wordlessly reached out her hand for her friend's wounded one, her dark eyes still widened in shock. “Heard what? What happened? Are you okay?” At least her friend seemed more shocked than seriously harmed although she had cut her hand.
Ileen was suddenly uncomfortable and she peered to the spot where she had just been standing but could not see any roots or unevenness or anything else that could have caused the fall. It was not unusual for Dee to be a little clumsy, but not like that. suddenly Ileen felt uneasy. The young Slytherin felt a little uneasy in her skin and shivered slightly, although it was still pleasantly warm.
If Dee would allow it, Ileen would examine the wound. Blood came out of a finger-length incision and the Slytherin turned pale. "Don't move," she commanded, picked herself up and rushed to the nearby buffet, only to come back shortly afterwards with a glass of water and a clean napkin.
With concentrated contracted eyebrows she cleaned the injury and carefully dabbed the blood away. However, no major vein seemed to be injured, as the bleeding slowly subsided. "I think we should bandage this." She gave her friend a nervous look and pulled out her magic wand. She hadn't used the spell before but had practiced it many times without a wand. "Shall I?"
If Dee confirmed, Ileen would tab the arm with her Wand. “Ferula.”

So Ileen hadn't heard it. Had it even really been there? But no, she wasn't going to start doubting her perception. She remembered it, clear as day. Something had spoken to her. Dee's eyes narrowed in thought. "There was... No, don't mind me. I'll tell you later. I'm fine, just..." She looked at her hand which was dripping blood on the floor. It was starting to really hurt, in contrast to the fading ache in her shoulder. "... bleeding," she finished, frowning. She'd take a few more moments to turn this over in her head, the voice - warning? - and the odd feeling of her heel being caught in a way that shouldn't have happened.
When Ileen ordered her to stay put, the Slytherin's voice not allowing for any protest, Dee quirked an eyebrow at her in amusement, but nodded, watching as her friend trotted off and returned soon after with water and a napkin. She winced when Ileen poured water on the cut and started fussing around with the napkin and the wound started to burn slightly. "Ow, Ileen-" Her voice turned slightly whiny. "Can't you be more careful? You're making it worse." But as her eyes wandered away from her hand to her friend's face, a small smile tugged on the corners of her lips. Ileen looked deeply focused, a small wrinkle between her eyebrows, and Dee wondered if she should object to playing guinea pig for the Slytherin's healer aspirations, but, well, where was the harm? Dee's momentary pain aside, of course.
Still, she kept whining a little until Ileen was done and pulled out her wand, at which Dee's eyes widened. "Yeah, of course!" Fascinated, she watched Ileen tap her hand with the tip of her wand, and then as bandages streamed from the wand, wrapping around her hand and wrist. "Woah, thanks," she said, poking the bandage with the index finger of her uninjured left. "Guess I'll have to keep you around, just in case I fall into more glass shards at some point."
She got to her feet, wincing as putting weight on her legs had the pain in her hip flare back up, and stared down at the ground where the broken glass was still glistening innocently in the low light, now sprinkled with a few drops of blood. Shaking her head, she bent back down to pick it up, carefully. "Don't want anyone else to fall into those," she announced. "And I think I'm ready to go now. Enough stargazing for tonight."

Ileen watched her friend attentively, her eyebrows tightened in concentration. What should she have heard? She wanted to ask, but something in Dee's tone made her reconsider it. They would talk about it later, when there were less curious listeners and when they were safe. A cold shiver ran down her spine and she couldn’t help but slightly shake herself to get rid of this unpleasant feeling. The two exchanged a confused look before Ileen set off to get the napkin and water.
Dee seemed to have recovered quickly from the shock, in any case she was well enough to complain to Ileen when she took care of her injury. “I’m not making it worse, I make sure it does not get infected because there are still splinters or dirt in the wound. Stop whining.” She threw a stern glance at her Ravenclaw friend, but her facial expression softened immediately and a light smile appeared on her lips. She was glad that nothing worse had happened to her and that was the most important thing. The teasing complaints were just a sign that everything was alright.
Her smile widened as she watched Dee’s impressed reaction and her successful spell. “Yes, especially you, Ms Clumsiness, should stick around, so I shall save you.” She gave her a teasing grin while she helped her friend to pick up the broken glass. How had it ended up here? Maybe some of their stupid fellow students had thought t would be a great idea to knock each other out with bottles. That was not as unlikely as she would wish.
“And yes, you are right. I don’t feel like stargazing anymore, either. Let’s go back to the tent before the rest of our chaotic roommates decide to go to bed, too.” She hesitated and scanned the area for any of the named people before turning to Dee again. “If you feel worse or if the bleeding doesn’t stop we should go to a Professor though to make sure everything will be alright.” If Dee agreed, Ileen would go back to the tent together with her and leave the event.
