The Fall Ball (Masquerade)
Owl for Interactions!Alexander had merely smiled at each of her comments, not deeming any of them important enough to warrant an answer. He could feel the crowd surge around him, senses tuned in to every exchange of names, every breath, already running the titles through his head.
Interacting with @Katherine Labrouder
He kept half a mind on Katherine, guiding them through the crowd to the drinks table. His eyes flitted up to her face once more as he took a cup from the table and filled it, handing it to her with a smile. Her last name... ah yes. Labrad—Labrouder. Picking up a cup for himself, he rifled through the crevices of his brain, the hours spent pouring over history book after address book after magazine making his memories a virtual dictionary for the rich. It still—didn't ring a bell.
Inwardly, he sighed. Well, it was about time that this wrap up then. There was nothing more for him to gain. She'd been a fine warm-up, perfect for feeling out the atmosphere of a Hogwarts witch. He knew, innately, that they wouldn't all be like her, but there was no doubt in his mind that he could handle them all. He'd allow her one more question though. It was only polite.
"My family name?" he clarified gently. His family name... it was maybe the slightest bit of a touchy subject, but there was nothing Alexander was more proud of than the trials his family had faced. He'd promised himself when he was young that he'd bring nothing but honor to them. Glancing at Katherine, he wondered if she'd done the same. Perhaps not.
"Baron," he smiled, "My full name is Alexander Theodore Baron."

As katherine stood watching Alexander pour drinks and hand her a cup while smiling she politely said "Thank you," she looked up at him then down on her cup thinking "why did I warm up anyways its not big of a deal god if father knew he might get rid of him someway or another or he might kill him? torture him ? who knew what father was up to i'm not even bothered he should be the last thing I should be thinking of enjoy your time kath don't let father ruin it", she thought to herself after a while alexander answered saying his family name was baron hmm she thought to herself Baron she knew all the rich families and strong ones never heard of a baron she was sure she knew every single rich pure blooded family never a baron they might be forgotten or not rich enough. she knew it was the end between both of them who knew they might encounter each other in the future but till now its the end she needed to see a new face she knew she made a strong image she honoured her family tonight she wasn't doubtful .She looked around slowly noticing were her roommate was and marking her.
After all her dance wasn't bad she quite enjoyed it hoping her father doesn't know but other than that she was happy she didn't need to be a winner as long as she got a startle from him she was happy she responded back to him"well Mr Baron I've enjoyed our small conversation and dance It was a great pleasure and honour to meet you and hope to encounter you again in the future", she ended politely with a soft but elegant smile waiting a few seconds for a reply and separated with him she watched melissa and noticed there were two other girls one in some sort of green dress and the other in a unique one she walked elegantly to them.
She spoke"well hello melissa sorry i've just had a dance with someone and forgot to encounter you",she stood next to melissa and looked at both the girls and responded back to melissa"looks like you've got company mind if I join", she said with a smirk and looked at the girls with a smile warm and kind but in her thoughts she looked at one of the girls and noticed her dress god didn't she have material for her dress every part a design it was quite hideous i bet shes a half blood or muggle born, god filthy mudbloods now a days, but she hid it under a warm smile Making sure no one noticed she spoke"well I'm katherine, Katherine Labrouder", she said confidently and proudly she noticed the other girl and she certainly liked the other one she had style and a good sense of fashion she must be a rich pure blood she felt she was gonna be good friends with the one in the green dress she gave her a smile and saying"well how is the ball going for all of you so far", waiting for all of the girls responses

Well, this was horrible. Jo had yet to run into any familiar faces, which was both incredibly lucky and incredibly BORING. She'd come here for the drama! For the adventure! For the mystery and secrecy! But secrecy didn't mean anything when taking off one's mask had no effect. Nobody knew her - nobody would have that moment of recognition and burst into laughter at not having recognized her.
The young witch folded her arms, scanning the sea of faces once more with a lipstick-enhanced frown. Perhaps she ought to check out the costume party next-door. They might have better food and better friends. Jo's dress was quite bedazzled for a normal party - perhaps she'd fit in better with some of the other zanier attendees.
Stuffing the rest of a chocoball into her mouth, Jo began to weave her way through starstruck couples and tired-looking professors towards the entrance of the ballroom. It wasn't like she had anyone to dance with. Not that she needed anyone to dance with, of course. It was ludicrous to think that she needed a lover in order to dance. Ha! She could steal the spotlight from any twirling blonde if she so chose. It was just that she didn't feel like it...right? Impossible. Jo wasn't lonely. No one bit. It wasn't any fun to spin away the night, staring into the nebulous eyes of someone with whom you felt your destiny inexplicably and yet so powerfully intertwined...
Oh, right. The party. Yes. Jo was sure that the costume party would be much, much more fun. Leave the spinning about to the Romeos and Juliets. No wonder lovers were so airheaded. Dumping her now-empty plate on a table with a huff, the girl went off in search of more tricks and more treats. The more of both, the better.
Action: Jo leaves to go to the Costume Party.

Other posts: 1Carolyn felt a bit awkward just standing around and surveying her surroundings. She wasn’t entirely comfortable being stuck in the crowd but she also didn’t have any desire to go and mingle. Thankfully, it appeared Illya did not change his mind after all. ❝ You have upstaged me Carolyn, perhaps I should go change. ❞ Carolyn blushed a little upon hearing those words. So she looked good in the dress. That was a relief. “Thank you,” she replied with a smile. “And don’t worry, you look great.” She praised the boy in return. Carolyn was not good at accepting compliments but she had no trouble complimenting others. Illya’s attire might have been somewhat simple but sometimes less was more and she did think he looked rather dashing. “I especially like the pin. It’s a very nice detail….Does it mean something to you?” She inspected the jackal carefully before realizing her curiosity might not have been appreciated. “If you don’t mind me asking of course.”
For the whole duration of the conversation, Carolyn made sure not to use overly complicated words but didn’t limit herself to short sentences. It was good for Illya to hear the language in order to learn and he was smart enough to keep up. Lucky for him, Carolyn was also not a fast speaker. Her talking was calm and well-fitting the rest of her gentle demeanor. ❝ You look wonderful. But I am sorry for the wait, how about we dance to make up for lost time? ❞ The witch smiled even brighter than before. “No need to apologize. I didn’t wait long,” she reassured her partner. “But I would very much like to dance,” she agreed, making sure not to stutter like she did the other day. For a moment, Carolyn hesitated waiting for the boy’s next action. Was he going to offer her his arm? She wasn’t quite sure and didn’t want to assume anything. If he didn’t, there was no harm done and she would just walk with him to the dance floor side by side. Perhaps he also didn’t have much experience with such events. It would be totally understandable.
Interacting with ILLYA YORNIKOVYCH ( @Reid Kovacs ) Agreed to dance and moving towards the dance floor.

Jayden’s horned owl costume:

The entire thing was coated in brown barred feathers: A knee-length halter dress with a slightly longer, poofier tail; a capelet covering her shoulders; a scarf of "wings" between her arms; her mask, of course; as well as the clip that held her twisted hair bun in place.
The owl feathers were pressed nice and silky, and overall carried its own elegance, made even more impressive by the lengths of Jayden's shoes, sparing no detail to make herself look as owly as possible. A metallic gold design of owl's claws - back talon extending along the length of her five-inch platform heels, with three front talons hooking over her toes (not protruding from the shoe, so they wouldn't snag on anything or stab anyone).

Her cup of cider was dwindling at an exceptionally slow rate, half full (or was it half empty?) for the past hour or so. It wasn't so much that Jayden was thirsty, but gave her hand something to do rather than fiddle with her fingers awkwardly. Heaven forbid she look awkward in a crowd, put a shame to all her grand-aunt's lessons in social etiquette. The whole point of blending in was to not look like an odd (wo)man out (though fashion statements were an entirely different thing). Walk -chat, sit, eat- with a purpose. Jayden was simply waiting for opportunity, hugging the fringes of the Ballroom, standing idly by the refreshments tables and sliding into other people's conversations, for all innocent purposes in "making friends" but in reality, establishing connections and investigating her competition - the other schools. And just like Headmaster Plott had said, Hogwarts was dangerous. Jayden, ever an admirer of Plott and trusting the Headmaster could do no wrong, took the warning to heart. Behind the guise of a warm smile and friendly face, she was mindful not to get too close and personal with any of the other schools. Emotionally, that was. Maybe it was Plott's warning that heightened her sense of unease about the place. Either way, part of her couldn't wait to go home…
Whether it was something in mannerisms or tone of voice that caught her attention, Jayden would recognize Hadrian Zuheir nearby. Yes, Hadrian Zuheir, she full-well knew the name of one of Ilvermorny's ex-Prefects. One she was formerly acquainted with.
"Hadrian," Jayden would call out to him when he was within earshot. "Hoot-hoot." She gave a tiny wave alongside a poor imitation of an owl's call, pinpointing her location. "Hey." She chuckled, a hint of a smirk playing on her lips. "Jayden. Remember me?" A discreet tilt of her mask would flash the bare features between her nose and eyebrows, offering a stolen glance at her identity, before re-covering her face. "Promise I haven't been in any trouble." The context of which only Hadrian would be able to decipher. Jayden's lighthearted laugh bore no remorse or embarrassment for her detentions and mischiefs long past, a few of which Hadrian had overseen and cleared with a few bribes. Whether or not her claim was true, well…even Jayden didn't know herself. Depended on one's point of view, after all.
She noticed Hadrian's attention seemed to be…diverted. Like most, she supposed he had a date, or perhaps a friend, he was searching for. Always a convenient start for small talk. "Looking for someone?"

Enzo turned his head again slightly so he could give Charles a small nod but after doing so, his face somewhat hardened into one similar to the one of Charles's date and he bitterly returned a glare to her in annoyance. Was she just looking at him like that because she had noticed his expression from before? It's not like he had actually said something... Whatever, he couldn't be bothered by people who take offence so easily.
Enzo frowned at the giggle that he heard escape from Lana's friend. He was on the verge of saying that he didn't care for an introduction and to not expect it to be reciprocated, but he had no real desire to create drama with this random person, at least not just yet.
"I'm Enzo" He replied plainly not feeling the necessity to add his last name or be cordial with any part of his introduction.
"Thank you for your much needed input" He mumbled sarcastically with a scoff in response. He didn’t need someone to just state the obvious nor share their opinion when it was not asked for.
First dance? Be a good date? Yeah... no.
"And who are you to just whisk off my date and leave me stranded and bored in this idiotic place?" He questioned dryly while his sharp gaze lowered to the outstretched hand then he glanced over to Lana to see if she would accept it.

Mildly open to interaction, owl or dm me first please! The bottom of her dress trailed the floor as Silver walked, heels clicking with each step, hands smoothing down the front of her dress. Her mask hung limply from her hand for the present moment, but she intended to put it on after greeting her date. Speaking of, her eyes narrowed as she neared the entrance to the ballroom, trying to find the boy amidst the dozens of people flooding through the open doors on either side of the corridor. Ah, there! Walking up to Alexei, Silver couldn't help but admit he looked rather nicer than most of the other people walking beside them. Excellent. She heard him compliment her looks, and scowled internally. Naturally, Silver knew that she was beautiful and generally enjoyed when people admitted they knew it too. In cases like these, though, when it was clear that whoever was giving the compliment thought little more of her than just her appearance, her tolerance of the often spoken words tended to fray. "I could say the same about you." He offered her his arm, and Silver grasped it, somewhat surprised that he had the sense to be this respectful after all the flirtatious words spilled her way by him before.
They entered the room together, Silver's arm tucked through Alexei's and her other hand laying gently atop her first. Her head held high and her back straightened, Silver scanned the room, a perfect exemplar of regality. As her eyes swept the many students moving around on the dance floor, her head never turning, she noted the excessive number of candles, skulls, cobwebs, and steam drifting throughout the room. Tacky. This was meant to be a formal ball, not a child's playhouse. And if any part of the child within Silver found herself delighted and possibly even a bit frightened by the room's decor, the girl sure didn't show it.
A flash of blonde hair caught her eye, and Silver whipped her head around. Rose. But no- it was just a different light-haired girl, dressed in a short green dress and soon out of sight as the twirling and ever-shifting pattern of the dance floor stole her away. But why had the girl reminded Silver so of Rose? It had to be more than just the hair, didn't it? Silver had happened upon dozens of blondes during her past week at Hogwarts alone, and none of them had sent this startling flash of familiarity and exhilaration through her the way this mystery girl had. In any case, it no longer mattered. Rose was no more than a phantom of the past, and it was better for all involved that she stay that way. Pushing all thoughts of the girl dressed in green from her mind, Silver turned back to her date with a slightly strained expression. Before she had even had time to excuse or even mention what her sudden observation had been, the boy had stalked off, her hand still in his.
She allowed herself to be pulled by Alexei's grasp to the middle of the dance floor, jaw clenching as she fought to refrain from snapping at him for treating her as nothing more than some carry-on luggage. But still, it was no matter. The important thing was that they begin their dance now, so as to finish as soon as possible and allow her to be free of this entitled prick. Minding her posture closely, Silver stepped up closer to Alexei and placed her hands lightly onto his shoulders. She felt the weight of his hands settle on her hips, and her eyes narrowed as they slipped further and further down. Lips pressed into a line so thing it was miraculous it could even still be seen at all, Silver stepped ever closer to Alexei's body and tilted her face up until her lips were close enough to his ear for him to feel her every breath. "Touch me there again, I swear to god I'll hex your hands off your wrists," she told him, her tone cool and her voice barely higher than a whisper.
"Promises are sacred and hugs can save the world."

The Fall Ball (Masquerade)

While Flash couldn’t say that dancing was a challenge for him, he was working up quite the sweat as he and Anastasia moved across the way. Others were indeed joining the ballroom floor as he hoped, the joy of closeness and movement evident even behind their covered faces. Thankful that his partner was more than capable of keeping up with him, he went for the cliche yet effective dip. It wasn’t really part of waltzes, but he had the strength to hold her, so why not? Looking at what he could see of her eyes, he was glad to detect the happiness and excitement he had meant to instill across her features. Hopefully, she wasn’t thinking about anything but him.
Pulling her back up from the trust position he had put her into, Flash breath was starting to become labored. He had plenty of stamina from years of jogging, but that was a practiced endeavor. Dancing was more work overall, and he had been pushing himself since the moment they started. He would smile tiredly at his companion, being more than satisfied with the comforting feeling of intense exertion their twirling around had given him. His hand left the spot on her hip to take her other hand in his and draw them both to his chest in a clear sign of disruption to call forward attention.
"You're an incredible dancer, Anastasia. The best I've ever had the great fortune to be beside." Flash couldn't pretend to be less worn out than he was, as much as he tried to keep his breathing smooth by the usual runner's technique of through the nose, out of the mouth. The droplets of sweat from his brow could also likely be seen dripping from underneath his mask, it only covered the top half of his face after all."I think I'll need a drink, however. Will you join me?"
Flash headed over to the closest table, as they stretched the distance of the sides. His eyes, which had been previously glued to his date, swimmingly took note of the rest of the room. There were plenty of people gathering to the sides and talking, or sitting and watching. As long as everyone was seeming to enjoy themselves, Flash was plenty content. There didn't seem to be any raised voices, or spells going off as it was. It was likely the inclusion of Professors and Headmasters, who as adults were strikingly obvious as they floated around in the crowd. Flash's gaze settled momentarily on Madame Jensen, though she didn't appear to be doing anything besides talking to Master Browne. They talked a lot.
If Anastasia wanted to join him, he would be holding her hand as he guided her through the crowd, though otherwise he would nod understandingly if she wanted to investigate some other avenue of activity. Either way, he would be pouring himself a cold cider and taking a drink quickly. He was parched, and needed the swift relief. He had a handkerchief that he kept on himself, so for a brief moment he took off the angelic mask to dab at his temples. No sitting, though, there wasn't time to. Likely he would get back to dancing the moment he caught his breath, since he promised Anastasia 'as much dancing as she could stand to bear'. Still he had also hoped to get to know her better.
If she had stuck beside him, the relief from the drink would be entirely clear on his face, like a swimmer who had just finished their laps. After smirking at her held focus on him, he would slide his mask back down onto his face coyly. His eyes scanning those nearby, he caught a glimpse of Falentra, Howard, and Aurelia in a group not far away. He was always glad to see Falentra being happy, even though he knew such a big fancy ball wasn't exactly her scene. He was grateful that Howard was entertaining her. Just as Flash had said to Anastasia, the company at one of these things made all the difference between boredom and elation. Seeing their smiling faces brought him immeasurable satisfaction. Aurelia wasn't smiling, but that wasn't new.
He likely would have taken note of Erin Ryan if not for her new hair being so inconspicuous, comparatively. No Vladimir Athanatos or Thomas Lestrange either, since they were still at the doors with their dates. If Adlai happened to be nearby and saw him, he would wave happily. He was glad she decided to come, though it looked like she hadn't acquired a date. He hoped she could enjoy herself anyway, there were so many free agents after all, so what was stopping people from grabbing the first friendless person they saw? Flash had to remember that others didn't have such a crushingly easy time approaching and talking to other people. Talking to people was his whole life, he couldn't imagine not being able to do it.
With that, his quick glance had reassured him that everything was going perfectly. As to be expected.

Unnsettling Aura ActivatedOnce again River was making her way to a ball in which she most likely wouldn’t be enjoying normal ball things, but rather come to experience some traumatising event. This familiar feeling of why on earth am I even going to this stupid thing? was swirling around in her mind as she steadily made her way down the corridors. Her long dark blue dress swayed lightly by her feet, and her red curls lay softly down her back. She, for once, decided to put on shoes that were, perhaps a bit more fitting for the occasion, than her previous converse. She did not feel up to par with stepping around in heels though, but her blue ballerina flats were at least a small step in a new direction.
It had begun getting chilly outside as winter slowly creeped up, so she was relieved that at least this time they would be inside, though upon further thought perhaps that wasn’t the best idea. Considering the recurring theme of things, and people, catching on fire. If there was ever a goal that she had for these evenings, it would be to try and not catch fire. As long as she stayed out of the flames, she’d consider it somewhat of a victory.
There was of course that very small, faint glimmer of hope, that said perhaps this time would be different from the rest. Though she’d felt that last time too, and the time before that, but it still never ends well. And the little spark of hope fell dimmer and dimmer by each time it was proved wrong.
As she approached the ballroom she could hear the chatter and noise coming from the students already present. At this point she was reaching the end of being fashionably late, and just ending up… late. Not that anyone would notice or bother, she was going alone per usual. She didn’t like the idea of predetermining who she’d have to spend the evening with, and would rather leave it up to the moment whether she found someone to hang out with. Dates weren’t really her thing anyway.
Knowing most of the students would probably be there, she wasn’t worried about finding someone familiar there at all. There was no doubt she’d come across someone she knew to a certain extent. As she walked through the doors and her eyes quickly scanned the room, it dawned on her. Perhaps the quest of finding a familiar face would be difficult after all when it was, in fact, a masquerade.
Taking in the scenery River placed her mask lightly on her nose and walked further into the room. The entire atmosphere was quite spectacular, and she was happy to somewhat fit right in with the eerie surroundings Unsettling Aura. She truly enjoyed the halloween aesthetic, and felt thoroughly impressed by the work that had been put into preparing all this.
As usual on these dances, one of her main quests for the evening was to observe everything that was going on. If there was anything she wound particularly entertaining it was to people-watch, and it only got more exciting if there was a chance for something to go south. She quickly stepped over to where the food and drink was placed, and she grabbed a treat and took a small bite as she turned back to watch the people on the dancefloor.
As she looked over the people, she noticed some people were not wearing masks. And one of them was a familiar face, belonging to a certain lioness she hadn’t talked to in a while. Perhaps their thing would be to come across each other at dances?
River slowly walked up to where she was standing and gave her a quick smile lifting her mask up as she approached. “Hey Kat, it has been a while, I hope you’ve been good”, she said and glanced to the person she’d been standing next to. “Oh, I hope I’m not interrupting anything?”, she said and gave them both a curious smile. “I’m River”, she added and gave the stranger a polite nod before she took another small bite out of the treat she previously took. She had no intention in ruining anyone's evening by intruding, but she was counting on them telling her if they’d rather have the time alone.Action: Try the snacks and talk to Kat and Adonis

Had Angel met her match in flirting? Challenge accepted. She grinned as Milo’s words came out smoother than the cream cheese spread over a bagel. Subsequently, a slight flush started to peak through the bottom of her mask. “Well now, is it a challenge to see how much of your breath I can steal? I must warn you I feel like I will be a formidable foe.” As he mentioned that they matched, she noticed just the slight peek of red in his cufflinks. It wasn’t hard to pair black, and since black was usually the male preferred color for formal attire, it was an easy choice to make. Hence the phrasing black tie for formal events because men were expected to wear black. It was also the most neutral and flattering color on just about anyone. “We do match; I noticed your lovely cufflinks.”Roleplaying| Angélique de Clairmont

She glanced at the snacks and drinks, not something she was currently interested in, so she looked out to the dancers on the floor. She did love to dance, and there were at a ball after all. She had been to many dances, parties, and galas, but like her cousin, most of them had been filled with adults. You were then told with whom you were allowed to socialize with that night.
She put her hand in front of Milo “May I have this dance?” He would learn that she was impatient but not the type of impatience that prompted temper tantrums. No, she would just not wait for someone to offer her something she wanted, and right now, Angel wanted to dance, so she asked him. She didn’t like the slow burn cons; she was an instant gratification kind of girl. “If you get bored, we can leave after I get one dance with you.” Angel was used to sneaking away from her grandmother’s parties anyway, so why would this be any different?
