Perhaps first friends ? Closed

"Oh, of course. I'm sorry." Lorelei responded. "I don't care for loud sounds much either, they give me a headache." She fell silent, not sure where to turn the conversation. She began playing with a loose thread on her robes and turned to look out the window again. The scenery blurred as the train rushed past. She once again fought the urge to open her book. She wasn't sure why she was rambling so much. She generally only did that when asked about history in school, or someone started a conversation about a book or tv series she loved. She was hoping she wouldn't annoy too many people, she wanted to make friends at Hogwarts. These three seemed nice, and, hopefully, they'd have a class together or something

"Say, how does scheduling at Hogwarts work?" her last thought prompting a question. "Do different houses have classes together? I mean, classes start our second day there, do they plan each student's schedule ahead of time or what?" she picked at the seam of her robe, thinking. If it was based on house, they might not be in any classes together, unless they all got the same house. She wished she'd asked her mom for more information about Hogwarts

As Katie told them to shut up, well "asked not to be loud" in form Hildegard was speechless, she did not want to cause any trouble so she stood quiet, saying nothing just pretending she did not ever exist.
She still listened to Lorelei's question tho, not wanting to answer them as she thought that Lorelei was mad at her but did not want to expose it to the world.

-Will she be fine if i answer her ? she thought as a reaction to Lorelei's question.

The soon to be Slytherin was definitely scared now, so the only thing she thought of doing was to try not to tremble too much even if her body would not obey her at all.
Her face turned blue from fear, Hildegard was playing with her hair in order to calm down and sometimes looked at the windows.
She was really hesitant to answer, and ended up starting a reply.

-H...Hogwarts... She said before stopping out of fear.

Hildegard just could not beat her fear at that moment so she was unable to formulate a full sentence.
And kept her mouth shut hoping no one would mind or notice.

-For Merlin's sake Hildegard... She thought to herself.

Lorelei noticed that Hildegard didn't look too well. She almost seemed terrified, and almost looked as though she was holding her breath. Lorelei watched her, a bit concerned. Hildegard, stuttering a bit, had started to say something about Hogwarts, but stopped, and Lorelei frowned, still playing with the loose thread on her robe.

"I'm sorry, what?" She asked, wondering what Hildegard had been about to say. She hoped Hildegard didn't think she was upset. She really wasn't, the yelling had startled her a bit, but everything seemed to have been made clear, and Lorelei hoped that the small incident wouldn't cause too much trouble. She looked out the window again, wondering if the single word was ment to say that the train was approching the school, but all she saw still was countryside. She turned back to the people in the compartment
"What were you about to say?" She asked, picking at the seams of her robe. She started tapping her foot on the floor of the compartment, then stopped herself, not wanting to annoy the others. She nearly pulled out a sheet of paper to work on an idea she had, but she didn't want to be rude and ignore the others. Besides, the conversation might actually continue, and she'd have a chance to make friends.

As Hildegard heard the voice tone of Lorelei she realized that she might actually not be mad, so even if she was unsure about it she decided to try it out.

-In H...Hogwarts, all the houses have class t...together as long as they are in the same year, a.. and about classes we have 2 weeks of adaptation before our first class and we will get our schedule around that t...time she tried her best to reply.

-Good you did it ! I'm so proud of you Hildegard ! Her interior voice spoke.

Even if her mind had calmed down her body still acted as if she was in eminent danger, force of habits.
As she could not control her body anymore her only choice was to do an "all in".

-I'm s...sorry really... I...I don't want to attract attentions, b...but I am way too scared and anxious right n...now... Hildegard admitted.

-Good girl ! But don't end it there ! They will hate you and think you are an attention seeker said the voice inside her head.

-H...hey e...everyone le..let's show each other our wands ? What did Ollivander said about your wand ? She asked as she looked for her own to show them too.

Lorelei smiled "Great, so we will be able to find each other in classes!" she was glad there might be someone she'd recognize in class. Hildegard suggested showing their wands, so Lorelei pulled her's out of her robe pocket. "28,2 cm elder wood and unicorn hair. Swishy, attracted by naturally lucky wizards. Hopefully a good sign for my goals." she added that last bit, mostly as a joke. She started polishing the pale brown wood with the edge of her robe, realizing she hadn't done much in the way of cleaning or similar care of the wand. "Though I've heard elder wood is also considered UNlucky, but it's probably just superstition. It is a pretty rare wood though, so that's cool. And it's supposed to be really powerful, hence, the wand from the one fairy tale is elder" She waited to see if the others would share about theirs, repeatedly rubbing at the fingerprints that could be found on the wand's smooth surface, trying to get them off, before shrugging. There was probably a book on wand care somewhere in the Hogwarts library, she could look when they got to the school. She looked back up to pay closer attention to the continuing conversation

As hearing Lorelei Hildegard smirked, she took her wand out of her robe's pocket and rose it in the middle of them all.
She was ready to boast about it, and waited quite long for that moment, ever since she got her wand at Olivander's shop.

-Mine is a 31.1 cm wand made of Poplar wood with Kelpie hair as core ! The seller told me that it was unyielding, very powerful but hard to use ! Hildegard claimed proudly.

Hildegard stared at them all with a Slytherin's smirk waiting for one of them to challenge "that", to claim to have a better wand. Of course she was sure that no one did which was the primary reason why she was so proud of it.
In the mind of her right now was only herself being praised for being the greatest witch of all time, surpassing Voldemort, Dumbledore, Harry Potter, Merlin, everyone !
She lowered her wand playing with it before putting it back inside her pocket, after her little show she got some time to process what Lorelei had said when she presented her wand.
Hildegard got curious about something that she heard :

-What is the goal you are trying to archive Lorelei ? The witch asked.

34,6 cm dogwood wood and dragon heartstring. Ollivander told me that it was unyielding and docile if used improperly. He also said that it was best used in the hands of inventors. Katie said peacefully, ignoring the extreme excitement and pride oozing from Hildegard. Katie knew that a wand was a wand and that every wand was best suited for its owner. Being chosen by a wand in itself could be something to be proud of. Katie suspected that Hildegard needed to be brought down to earth before she'd begin to comprehend those ideas though. Katie could not be the person to pull Hildegard back to reality as Katie was often overlooked or yelled at when she voiced her opinion and she fully intended to keep the peace. Katie hoped Hildegard would figure it out on her own quickly, ore she'd have a difficult and hard time making friends. Katie was okay with being overshadowed by people add long as they didn't try to overshadow other purple who weren't okay with it. Hildegard smirked at her wand comment as though it'd make Salazar Slytherin impressed, but only her smirk would impress Salazar. Not that Hildegard's wand wasn't special, more so that all wands are special and while every wand I'd different, that doesn't make a wand better our worse nor does it make a witch or wizard better or worse.

Lorelei smiled "Those are both pretty cool! Intresting designs too, Olivander did good." She said, genuinely meaning it. "I didn't realize Olivander had started using a wider variety of wand cores, he used to only use dragon heartstring, pheonix feather and unicorn hair, it's cool that you have an unusual core" she said specifically to Hildegard. "I want to invent my own spells some day" she said, adressing the question about her goals comment "I also kinda want to be an animagus, obviously I'd probably register. The implication that since this wand chose me I am 'Naturally Lucky' makes me a bit more hopeful that I will succeed" she grinned "I have been studying the etymology of spells and charms along with some Latin and Greek to get a head start. I got my parents to give me a set of translation dictionaries"

She turned to Aurora, who she noticed had been pretty quiet for a little while now, and asked "What about you, what wand chose you?" she started absentmindedly tapping her foot and playing with the string on her sleeve again after slipping her wand back in her pocket as she grew more comfortable talking to these girls.
