Mentioning Sylvie Everett (@Miranda Everest)I’m late. I’m late again. I’m late again and again.
If one was not busy at all that day, and had time to walk around the castle and wander in the courtyard, they would probably see a boy hurrying into the castle. Maxi had spent a long time wandering alone in the grounds, analyzing the situation. His grandfather arranged him a date, who was definitely lovely in anyone’s eyes, but now, he was not obeying the instruction. Sylvie Everett was a good girl, and he had never doubted that. Though clearly, he wasn’t going to the ball with her…with his fiancée.
Instead of the brunette, another face showed up. The blonde, named Elise. A beautiful name, isn’t it? It was good to learn that such a pretty name matched such a pretty person. And he asked her. Asked her to be his date. And she accepted.
The best thing of life was probably, when you laid your eyes on someone secretly, they laid their eyes on you as well. Maxi was pretty sure that Elise would love to go to the ball with him from her heart — not simply because she didn’t have a date. So he would gonna stay with her tonight, and forget everything — about his fiancée, his father, his family, and all the pureblooded things.
So there he was — in front of the ballroom. Many people had already arrived. And he knew he was late. Hopefully Elise could already be there, waiting — no, a goddess shouldn’t be waiting for such a long time — she should be severed first, always.
Ah, there she was — probably the most beautiful one in the room. Maximilien walked forward, smiling, and gave her a hand. “Mademoiselle Elise. Such a pleasure.” his gentle dark gray eyes sparkled with delight. He had got the best girl tonight — and he was sure that they would have a great time. His eyes fell on the people who had already started dancing. “Wanna dance?”
And he bowed slightly. “May I?”Action: Arriving, offering a dance to his date

As they were dancing katherine was just looking at him all she could see were smiles and grins at some point he pushed katherine closer to him because of a couple who were dancing at least he has the decency to push her away from them he kept on listening to what katherine said as if it was music to his ears he did apologise to katherine if he had offended her and said its rare to find someone like her.Katherine had a gut feeling it was all empty words god it was a mistake that she warmed up to him all she thought in her head is why he was being a huge narcissistic bastard she couldn't care she felt it was fake she wanted to roll her eyes bad, she responded to his comment"I guess",
she felt his eyes tracing how she looked like she continued dancing acting like she didn't notice it .
Soon later they glided past another couple but she noticed he was too focused on gliding past them then to her words and watched as he cocked his head, all she thought was"uhh could he be even worse than this it looks fake ill just have to continue i had to warm up to this bastard huh nice move katherine good job you've officially messed up" he responded saying he would remember her , katherine doubted him well she definitely remembered a face and a family name especially when someone has very unique and sharp features after a while when the music slowed down they were almost swaying he responded that he wasn't as put together , god she thought to herself well i bet he was trying to be decent but deep in that monstrous head of his I bet it was some sort of fake narcissistic lie she had nothing to say but respond to him saying"mhm sure be decent", she wanted to roll her eyes badly but that would be rude she did it internally it was all a joke to her.
He also said that she was quite kind god katherine and kind dont get put together she said"Ya don't get used to it", she said with a straight face while looking at him, her cheek bones were sharp and noticeable her whole face bones were defined
she watched as he merely smiled when she laughed god does this guy have facial muscles to frown or get angry or does his face muscles only do smiles and grins she thought to herself as they stopped and they walked off the dance floor well to katherine it was quite the shortest dance she had the ones her parents hosted would go on for hours at least he saved her from leg pain.
he turned to katherine and asked her for a drink at this point katherine was quite shocked but didn't show it that he would actually continue with her after all ,the games had just began although she did get curious why did he ask her about her family or about her and what was his family name god if it was one of our enemies or fathers enemies she would get in trouble making alliances with him she responded"didnt think you would ask but sure", she said to him softly with a soft smile and determined eyes wishing he wasn't someone his father hated as they got drinks she asked "hey I was wondering you haven't told me your family name i'm guessing your are a pure blooded rich family ,So the huge question is which family are you from", she said with a straight face and determined to know but inside of her head she was wishing it wasn't a family shed regret dancing with god if it was, what would her father say it would destroy our family image at this point she was begging in her head saying" please don't let this judgemental narcissistic bastard be from any family that my parents hated", all she had to do was wait for the suspense after all the game was still on and he was her little target until she knows who he truly is.

Hearing that Elias had basically threatened Valerie into being his date to the ball wasn't surprising but that didn't stop Callie from flicking his head in protest. While it was rather obvious Valerie was joking to some degree judging by the slight smile that crept onto her features, Callie opted to ignore it in favour of making fun of Elias. Making fun of her fellow Ravenclaw was simply a duty that Callie had to uphold at all costs, no matter the circumstance. "You little worm!" Callie eventually cried out in response, briefly stopping herself from eating her precious jellybeans to do so. "I knew you were caught up on not having a date!" She pointed at Elias accusingly with a singular finger and a joking grin across her face. "I always knew you were in the dumb camp of weirdos obsessed with that sort of thing!" She let out a laugh before tucking into the jellybeans once again, clearly not taking the situation seriously. "He's a terrible dancer you know, Valerie. Better watch out for your toes! You might lose some!" Callie added with a mischevious grin across her face. Maybe one day she'd stop her general abuse towards Elias but today certainly wasn't that day, especially given the constant risk of Thomas and Elias bickering. Callie may have continued to break up their fights where she could but these days her sympathies tended to lay with Thomas. What kind of duelling partner would she be anyway if she didn't back Thomas up? A terrible one, that's what.
When Valerie brought up the idea of Thomas being her date Callie let out a bright laugh. It wasn't that Thomas wasn't charming in his own strange way, it was mainly that she viewed the boy as a brother more than anything. However Valerie's words seemed to imply there was something..detrimental about Thomas being her 'date' which Callie didn't entirely appreciate. Perhaps she was simply reading too closely into the situation but Callie felt a strange urge to defend the boy's honour. Even if he was an insufferable little worm who needed a punch in the face sometimes, he was still one of Callie's closest friends. "Thomas here," Callie corrected her use of the term 'boy' with a graceful smile and a surprisingly firm tone. "Isn't my date! That would be so weird, he's my duelling partner silly! Buuut doesn't he scrub up weirdly well? It's still strange seeing him with brushed hair." Callie gestured vaguely to Thomas' head to emphasise her point further. "Besides having dates is for old weirdos anyway! No offence, it's just that I don't really care about all that mumbo jumbo. As my brother once said, dating is for lonely weirdos who lack entertainment in their lives." Callie smiled cheerfully even if her words were anything but. "Sure he said that after a SUUPER bad breakup that I made fun of him for being so broken up about..but still!" Callie laughed and opted to move the subject on a little. "Have you guys had any of the food yet? THERE'S SO MANY SWEETS, it's like heaven."

The Slytherin followed in Howards actions by taking a quick swig from the glass, though not as much. The burning sensation was defiantly there, but not as harsh as when she tried it straight. Still, Falentra pulled a bit of a face before licking the rested off her lips. It was such a sweet taste and not one she was overall fond of but with such a mixture it actually tasted pretty good. ''Mm, fair good is this. You gotta come up with a name for it now. Start sellin' it to make a few bob.'' She joked and threw him a playful smirk before taking another small sip.
Everyone before them looked like they were having lots of fun. Some were dancing already whilst others were in small groups enjoying themselves. Falentra glanced up at Howard in between. His face seemed to have changed to a worried one as he looked ahead with her. Was he worried about dancing? Before she could question his expressions more he would bring up that exact thought. She wasn't sure if that was him treuly hinting that the pair should dance or not but she wanted to reassure him that it wasn't needed. ''We ain't gotta dance you know. We can stand here and mock everyone's dance moves.'' Falentra nudged herself into him gently, not enough to make his drink spill. ''Besides, we'd show them all up.'' A small chuckle would follow. If he was to ask her anyway, she would have accepted with a large amount of nerves but nonetheless still accepted. She really wasn't the best of dancers but the thought of them having there first dance would have been cute, even if they did suck at it.
Her attention was brought back to the crowd before them. It was hard to tell who a lot of them were behind those masks, but some were blatantly obvious. One being Thomas Lestrange. She had never spoken to him before, though she only took such a notice of the boy for the brief memory of him was him cheering loudly for Howard during the Quidditch match. She was for sure intrigued. Anyone who knew Howard surely caught her attention. ''That lad there. You know him?'' Falentra asked the Hufflepuff with her finger extended outwards to the fellow Slytherin. It was rude to point... not that she cared, but simply saying that lad could have been aimed at anyone.
She was awaiting to hear his response. Her cold stare was fixed on Thomas in the meantime, trying to make what she could of him.
Aurelia then appeared in front of the pair out of thin air. Where did she come from? Falentra didn't have much time to think that far ahead for the Gryffindor blurted out with a look of anxiousness. At first, it took her a moment to recognise who it was. It was the accent that gave it away. Falentra looked up at Howard quickly as she spoke of needing her assistance. She hoped he didn't mind, though it seemed like she had no other choice. Before she knew it, she was being led to a more secluded area. Falentra followed willingly despite the look of confusion on her face. ''You alright Aurelia?'' She asked in concern while her expressions softened back to it usual look of boredom. The girl spoke of her and Howard as she turned with her back now in full view. Falentra didn't respond. She was too busy listening and observing. No look of disgust would make its way to her face but instead a small frown. She wished she could accept her scars but knew with having so many out on show was a lot to ask. Rather than attempt to persuade her she took to the tube and started to apply the paint gently over her scars. ''It's fine.'' She reassured Aurelia as she apologised once again. ''Your date?'' She questioned the girl, a brow raising as she stopped part way through the application. He wouldn't take it well if he sees them. Falentra wouldn't respond straight away. Instead she let out a loud sigh. One of frustration, anger and annoyance. ''Sounds like a dick. You shouldn't be covering these for him. Only for yourself.'' Falentra rested her hand on the others shoulder as she spoke with yet more concern. How could someone make her think such a thing. He sounded like a perfect punching bag for Falentra. ''Well I think you look like a goddess.'' The Slytherin followed up quickly and smiled. It didn't take her long to finish off the application despite the amount of scars she did have. ''All done.'' Falentra walked around to face the other once more, reaching forward to adjust some of her hair to how it originally was. She couldn't tell if the expressions she wore held nerves for the ball or for her date. Maybe both. But she didn't have to be alone if she didn't want to, or if she didn't want to ask such a thing. ''You want me and Howard to stick with you? Or you gonna be alright? Cause if that lads a dick with you I'll sort him out no problem.'' Falentra held up a playful fist, trying to lighten the subject. ''Come on, let's go back ya lil beaut.'' She held out her hand for the other to take. If she didn't Falentra would wait until the other walked beside her to head back towards where they had already came from.

position arriving
The woosh of air that accompanied a new arrival into the Autumn Ball pervaded the entrance area of the ballroom, the swish of fabric and smooth click-clicking against the glossy stone. An ominous frost to the wind's bite that only drew more dreadful the closer approached, the origin of such a sensation resting within the waif-like figure making their grand entrance. Ebony hair, braided and twisted up to secure it out of the way, the gleam of silver and emerald, the great contrast between navy blue and gainsboro grey.
Though at the tender age of nearly-13, there was no denying that this fair newcomer possessed a truly unusual level of beauty apparent even with half the face concealed with swooping metal and sturdy black. In her purposeful steps, a measured level of detached elegance borne out of a lifetime of lessons- quite surely blessed by Venus' will it seemed- bellied a secure role in high society. An easy sense of movement, a type of silent confidence. She is beauty, she is grace, she is power underneath a veil of lace and looks. The human incarnation of a siren- of angelic image with dangerous potential. Beautiful, terribly so.
Turn your head as she glides past, hurriedly turn away as she scans her surroundings appreciatively. Stare out of the corner of your eye to curiously watch as she sweeps into the ballroom, seeking out her familiars with a scrutinising eye. She aloofly avoids the gazes of strangers with an indifferent expression that would have not looked out of place upon a renaissance portrait kept in glass and dim lighting within the depths of a marble-cut museum. She would not have looked out of place put to canvas and kept through time. She probably already has been recorded by family painters regardless, great finely-painted depictions encased in heavy, ornate frames.
Introducing our princess of aloof disapproval - Astrea Edith Soleil Neptune-Chou, third of her forename, esteemed first-in-line heiress of the Neptune-Chou lineage. Member of the cunning Slytherin house, benched duellist in trade of the esteemed Viridian Vipers. Half-required to be in attendance under orders, half-required to be in attendance by her own knowledge of how messy things shall become.
Be careful not to draw too close lest the spirits of impropriety haunt you, a bubble of charged energy looming over the immaculately dressed doll of a girl that heavily discouraged approaching. The battle of the senses pulled at logic itself, a contradiction almost uncanny in its conflicting. Perhaps this intoxicating and yet dreadful concoction drew parallels to the rightfully earned reputation of ruin many a Hogwarts ball had. After all, if many an attending student already knew the high chance of disaster and very possible bodily/emotional trauma, then why bother attending? A simultaneous combination of naivety on the part of the first and second years who had somehow escaped devastation and the price of pain for beauty. Foolish children, they shall get what they know comes for them.
How fitting was the weather outside. Perhaps seen as dreadful for many whose virtue attracted themselves to the sun's rays or comforting to those who appealed to the frequent Scottish days of cloud and rain. Our Astrea being quite particular to the latter part of the population, though her own sense of self often ran cool and required her to seek warmth within the comforts of a good cup of tea and her feline companion. But alas, such arbitrary information has no place in such a thought process, for regardless of whichever stance you chose to align themselves to there was no denying that the stormy night outside truly added to the ambience.
The warm flickering light of charmed candlelight- they all knew how much trouble open flame provided, though it did little to deter first years from learning how to shoot jets of flame from the tips of their newly procured instruments of magic. If there was a reason why did they didn't learn protego until well into fourth year considering how dire their situations often became, Astrea knew not. They would have to work with what they could and attempt to make a successful exit by the end of the night.
May this be an evening to remember, if not with fond looks then in grimly grateful accounts.

October 16th, the day of the Hogwarts October masquerade ball- half of the reason Durmstrang had even travelled over to Scotland in the first place- and the ballroom was all whispy curls of smoke and candlelight between skulls and the indistinct scent of what was undeniably the essence of autumn itself. Spiced cider, pine, pumpkins- the gothic flair to the great room reminding our dear Johannes vaguely of Halloween nights traversing deep within haunted houses and night-darkened stone walls. Our German point of interest admittedly wasn't very familiar with the great centre of formality in Hogwarts or how it looked on a daily basis, but it would be a dick move to deny that the scene impressed him. The cathedral-esque ballroom, so large and looming, was impeccably decorated in spooky elegance whose deliberateness spoke deeply to how much thought had been put into it. All student-organised too if rumours around town had said anything.
If he'd known that the weather was going to be so ambient, maybe he would have repainted his forcibly sanded down nails a glossier shade of black or made more of a statement with his makeup than switching from pencil to liquid eyeliner or something. Perhaps the elegant lace and blue-gemmed mask that covered part of the Durmstrang boy's identity in a very 'Tuxedo Mask' fashion would have been more appropriately suited upon one of the fair ladies in attendance, but Johannes had never been one particularly strict with masculinity. After all, he felt strangely pretty with it on and anyone who had a problem with it could catch these hands.
The thin sense of anymonity, as silly and arbitrary as he knew it was, made him feel just as powerful as he normally was at the head of his Hellhound pack- what a rare occasion it was that his fellows hadn't been able to follow along, though he had wordlessly proclaimed his membership to the world with a single lapel pin. Wearing all of his rings to the ball would have been uncouth anyway and he needed to make a good impression. After all, it was incredibly uncharacteristic for the scruffy boy to dress up so formally, especially in the face of his fellow Durmstrang students. But he needed to make a good impression- er, a good enough impression- stripping himself of his battered nail polish and rings, replacing the sign of his allegiances instead with kept nails and nicely pulled back hair and slapped on the suaveness of his lesser-agreeable family side. He cleaned up quite nicely when he really wanted to.
The last time he'd been to a proper ball- a respectable, pureblood one that really fit the bill of 'unnecessarily lavish, stuffy and aggressively passive-aggressive'- had been years ago, when he was still a tiny suit-clad ankle biter with his brother wrapped around his little finger. See, the modern highlife meant that he wasn't nearly as entrenched in the magical-old-fashioned genteel than most others in his 'blood status' or whatever bullshit people pulled to divide people by class. But the Autumn ball honestly didn't really come off as mind-numbing as they were when he was younger- though Johannes had just stepped into the entranceway in a fashionably late nature- so did it really count as one? Eh, he wasn't looking at the specifics. The point is, it had been a while since the last time he's been caught in such a situation and he'd be a right bastard to make a fool out of himself- for himself, for the Sauers, for Durmstrang, for his date.
Speaking of his date- fair Lucas Alexander Dragamior, who had so finely asked for his hand to the ball- Johannes caught an eyeful of pale blonde hair off in the crowd and headed toward the second-in-line determinedly, an agreeable spark of brightness within his eyes. He looked great, he felt better-than-he'd-expected- after all, he had had the equivalent of an emotional breakdown just the evening before- and he was going to effin crush this. Take that Ambrożys, thinking they could wreck him with a letter of contact.
He was going to have a damn good time, if not for himself then to spite every single uptight member of half his 'family'. He was going to have a good time and as your writer here, I'm going to have to bring up the fact that while oblivious Johann was definitely going to have a time, there's a sizable dash of irony in the word 'good'. We all know how this is going to turn out.

The Fall Ball (Masquerade)

Caradoc sorted out his tie in front of the hallway mirror. His usual brown suit would have to do for tonight, as he didn't feel like pulling out a tux or anything too fancy. The students were the ones that could get all dolled up for tonight. He was still required to fulfil a job at the end of the day. With the way these balls went the last few times, his presence would certainly be needed. Tugging on both sleeves to have them straight cut, he nodded to himself. His eyes fell on the mask before him. It was the same mask he had worn last year. A badger, fitting to his house and status. Papa Badger had to look the part after all.
The girls had been busy doing each other's hair. Or at least Cass had allowed Nora to touch hers. He remembered a time he was the one that had to do it. Learning how to do braids, so she could look normal amongst her friends. His head would peek through the open door. He knew how much this moment meant for her. It was hard not to shoot a teary glance towards Cassanora. The girl that had never met her own mother, but had seen countless others interact with theirs. For her to allow a woman to have such an interaction, it told him Nora was slowly getting through. A fact that made his face crack with a relieved smile. Coughing as he entered, he would uselessly tug his sleeves yet again. He tucked his glasses away on the inside of his vest and clapped his hands together. "Ready ladies? We best get moving or this ball will be over before we arrive." He grinned excitedly.
The trip would have been short, Nora knew the way like the back of her hand. With a gentle push, he'd send Cassanora down the hall before the two of them could step forward. In a hushed tone he smiled at his Slytherin counterpart as he spoke: "You're looking good tonight, Jensen." He pulled his badger mask from under his arm and unravelled the strings. Smirking before, his mouth would turn down as he got silent and stared at the item in his hands. There was a pause from him, a soft sigh escaping his breath as he seemed to ponder on something. "Last time I wore this I was about to go deal with a hag in the woods... You think they will come tonight?"

Mentioning @Jade SunshineFamily friend? Lily thought, not wanting to have heard it right. The Slytherin girl is a family friend of Lucia’s? Seriously? The only thing Lily wanted to do was march off and scream for a while. But she would not do that. She would not do that because these people who she was talking to, we nice. "So, anyway Lucia, you’re in Hufflepuff like me, right?" Lucia have a small nod, so small nobody else seemed to notice. "I knew I’d seen you before!" Lily was happy that she recognised her, and there was nothing that could make her happier right now.
She scowled at the Slytherin girl, then turned to Lucia and said, "How do you know her? And why is she a ‘family friend’?" Lily sighed. If she wanted to be friends with Lucia, she had to be nicer to her. "I’m sorry, Lucia." She said. "It’s just," Lily had no idea what to say. She had said to the girl ‘Don’t go round making enemies for no reason.’ Too late. She had already made an enemy. And that was the girl who was listening into this very conversation. "This girl’s my enemy, she called me a mudblood, when we first met on our second day."
But no matter how bad things got, Lily was certain that at least two positive things came out of this. She had made some new friends, and she had learned the girl’s name. Her name was Jay.Banner by Lucia Fox

"What in the hell where you thinking with that jacket?" It took a lot for Wyatt to bite back a smile. It seemed she was trying to be nice before and it felt odd, but now that she was being mean again, he felt more relaxed. It was a familiar feeling that Wyatt knew how to react to. He leaned back in his chair and crossed his right leg over his left. He hummed, “I don’t know. I like it.”
He continued, “Your little outfit is only second to the first-year who showed up in a moon costume. O for effort, though quite basic. Maybe I was expecting someone named Autumn to be a bit more creative in the season they were named after. I suppose that was senseless.” He didn’t bother mentioning how she complimented his mask. If she liked simple, boring things, it was perfect for her. Just a plain silver mask.
It really sounded like she was trying before, to be nice. But did she really deserve Wyatt’s kindness? Recently, Wyatt hadn’t seen very much of her, and he was generally okay with that. If every argument of his just fizzled out all the time with no consequences, he’d probably start having a lot more arguments... If that was even possible. He was happy forgetting all about her, for the most part.
Autumn was strange, though. One of the few people he hadn’t figured out yet. All he knew about Autumn was the stuff that was painfully easy to see. What had he said to her last year? Oh, right. “You’re a bored loner who has nothing better to do than watch people with far more interesting lives than you. Either because you’re avoiding your own issues or you’re incredibly lonely and sad. Possibly both. Still, it’s depressing and pathetic.”
It was surface-level stuff. She’s always alone. She mentioned her grandfather, saying she wouldn’t like to think about him. She was watching Wyatt and Nell because their silly rumors were distractions. She got involved and since someone like her would know better than to actually start a rumor (unless it would benefit them), it couldn’t be Autumn since Autumn didn’t know Wyatt before (to have any grudge).
Well, Wyatt didn’t know about Nell’s relationships, but it didn't seem like Nell Zoldak and Autumn "Raven" Ivy were hanging out on the weekends.
