Day of Rain Quidditch Ravenclaw v Hufflepuff

Oh good lord. This was an absolute nightmare. Hufflepuff's beaters, specifically stinky Reid Kovacs, was seemingly singlehandedly dismantling the Ravenclaw quidditch team, and all Eli could do was sit and watch from the bench. Letting out a gasp as the obtusely large Hufflepuff boy sent another bludger towards poor Neculai and Miranda, he watched in horror as the two plummeted towards the ground.

If Reid was going to knock out Ravenclaw players, could he at least make it the beaters? That way Elias would have a shot at playing. Out of sheer frustration, the boy got up from the bench, paced back and forth for a minute before dropping to the ground and doing fifty pushups, a technique his father had taught him to at least vaguely control his anger.

Howard’s stoic gaze began to crack as the match really began to heat up. The excitement brought a rare smile to his face as he watched the action unfold. As much as he wished it was he who was guarding the rings, Atlas had clearly shaken off her nerves and was performing in peak form. “Yes! Nicely done, Atlas.” He shouted out to her as he pumped his fist into the air.

The Hufflepuff chasers would attempt to take advantage of their keeper’s success and perform a series of Finbourgh Flicks. It was a maneuver that Howard had seen them practice during scrimmage. Hard to pull off but when they did it surely was something else! The first attempt was a success as Aaron scored, but the second would fail as the Ravenclaw keeper made a spectacular save. Not that Howard would ever give him credit. “Keep it up guys! Stay focused!”

The crack of a bat would draw his attention to the beaters. His eyes would catch up just in time to see Neculai and Miranda plummeting to the ground. They would receive no mercy from him. “Yeah! Give em’ hell, Reid!” Howard called out, unconcerned about the heap of bodies on the ground. That’s what the skele-fro was for. It seemed that Ravenclaw would seek revenge as they sent a bludger flying in Quinn’s direction but the giant Huffle was not afraid and dodged it with ease.

It seemed like fate was on the badger’s side as Howard looked towards their seeker. Within just a moment Ethen would abruptly change course as take off after a fleck of gold. “He’s spotted it!” Howard yelled to his fellow teammates as he pointed to the sky. All that he could do now was wait to see if he would end this match with a quickness.

Ethen kept his eyes scanning every inch of the pitch looking for even the faintest flash of gold but continued to see nothing but the haze of raindrops. Occasionally, his eyes scanned to his teammates a large smile crested his face as he watched Atlas continue to protect the goals with terrifying effectiveness. It seemed the girl's endless practice was paying off. "Hell yeah Atlas! Keep it up! Show them the bumbling badger bonanza," Ethen called out after a particularly skillful display.

His eyes continued their search but noticed Reid obliterate the other seeker and his temporary riding partner. "Send em to the abyss Reid!" he yelled in support. It would give Ethen an opening to pull ahead in his search and he didn't want to squander that chance.

He knew that Quinn would have his back and paid no mind to a possible bludger attack. If he was to be obliterated then it was his fate. Instead, he focused his attention again on the pitch. His eyes darted in every direction looking for his target. Knowing the large badger was defending him helped keep Ethen focused but he couldn't help but mumble the giant badger song as he sat looking for the snitch. "With feet like a load of bread...What more needs to be said...Giant Badger! Giant Badger!" he sang happily as watched for his victim.

As he scanned he suddenly noticed a faint glint to his right. Without hesitation, Ethen launched into pursuit knowing that he had spotted the sneaky little snitch. All other noises and sights faded from his focus as he fixed his senses on the small golden object zooming forward. Finding the little demon was only half the battle, Ethen knew, but with the other seeker plummeting to his doom he had a chance to steal it from the skies. He just hoped he would be quick enough but he could almost taste victory as he chased after it. "Get over here you little squid," Ethen grumbled at the snitch.

Melissa watched as her teammates, Neculai and Miranda, got hit by a bulger and started to fall. Wide-eyed, she watched in horror. Suddenly remembering that she had to replace Miranda, the ginger grabbed her broom and ran out onto the giant quidditch pitch. As she mounted her broom, she wondered, I'll probably mess up won't I? Her thoughts quickly left though as soon as she rose up into the air. Feeling confident, she muttered, "Let's do this."

And she was off with her “super skills” or just a bit of luck Lavinia snagged the quaffle and headed towards the goalposts. But this time when she tried to score it came up really short and she was left wondering what had gone wrong. Then they scored and my that felt awful, she had it but yet she let the pressure get to her and she knew the next time she got the quaffle was going to be good. Then her captain who was taking a ride with Miranda both went plummeting to the ground. Oh no this is not good at all at least we have back ups on the sidelines.Lavinia was deep in thought and didn’t realize when the quaffle landed in her hands again, that got her head back in the game and she was ready to make up for her mistake last time and score but that keeper was very good or Lavinia just wasn’t in it today. Nevertheless she missed again and felt terrible about it. Ok, this was her 3rd attempt at a quaffle grab and she had the ability that helped her get to have the quaffle more, but just as the quaffle touched her fingertips she felt a very odd aura that made her want to run away, so she winded up missing the quaffle and the Hufflepuff got it instead. Then there was movement the Hufflepuff seeker had found the snitch and without Ravenclaw having a seeker playing at the moment this was very bad, very bad indeed.

That was really close! He almost took another hit which really he didn't mind. That last hit he felt but was able to shrug off. Thanks to him though he protected Ethen well enough and his little seeker even found the snitch! They were on a roll and needed to keep things going. They absolutely had this. The badgers were going to wing things for sure!

River barely had the time to sit back down on the bench before another blast caught her attention. Only this time it wasn’t only Neculai who was plummeting, but Miranda too. The redhead quickly rose to her feet on instinct “Well, that’s my cue” , she mumbled in a hurry as she got ready on her broom. She took a deep breath to calm her sudden spike of nerves and pulled her eyes away from her two teammates on the ground before she kicked off and steadily rose to the air with her shiny new broom. Now she really wished she had gotten a better test run of it during the previous game of shuntbumps.

A small cheeky smile made it's way onto the young girl's lips. Everyone was working together as a team. They're strategy and defense was amazing. Her ability to grab the quaffle had improved since last year and Aaron's accuracy also seemed to approve as a goal was scored by the younger boy. She pumped her fist in the air before turning her gaze to the beaters. Reid sent a bludger flying towards Neculai and Miranda, taking both of them down with the force. Annie always felt bad for any player's take down but it would help them in the long run. She dipped her head in acknowledgement but also sent a thumbs up towards Reid.

With Quinn playing body guard he had been following little Ethen the new Seeker around. The sight made Annie chuckle a bit. No matter how small her was, he always seemed to be full of surprises. Annie's attention perked when the boy started zooming off. Had he seen it? When the announcer confirmed her suspicion she whooped, encouraging him on. "C'mon Ethen, you've got this!" Well, if he succeeded this would be a huge boost for his confidence and a good start to the Quidditch season. The brunette turned her attention back to the quaffle, ready for the next round. Her hands tightened around the broom shaft and she rolled her head, determination settling in the pit of her stomach.

Ami shot to her feet again as she watched Reid shoot the pair of birds out of the sky like a trained hunter, pumping her fist in the air. "Get it, Kovacs!" she screamed, cheering wildly. Her spirits soared even more as she realized that- holy cow. Emrys had spotted the Snitch! She could feel her heart pounding as her gaze tracked the small Hufflepuff Seeker through the sky, noting slight movement from the benched Ravenclaw players.

Hearing Rosie speak from the bench, Ami quickly sat down again, realizing that her frequent jumping up and down was probably very un-captain-like. She nodded in agreement with Rosie's words, her fingers playing with the hem of her quidditch uniform anxiously. "Yeah... it'd be better to just finish it off now. If Emrys can get to the Snitch... well, what a hell of a start to the season it'd be."
