Eri glared at rosie. She didn't mean it that way. "Rosie Ugh I did not meant it that way. Just that muggles don't know anything about magic so technically they are behind others that do. By the way max I think you are a muggle born." She smirked. She thought it was amuzing to annoy him. "Exactly like a muggle-born. Don't you dare use the term mud-blood." She glares at max with hatred. Frowning she walked straight up to max and flicked him on the forehead. "Come at me! I dare you too!" She laughs at him. Waiting to see if he was serious about hitting her if she called him a muggle.

She walked a couple of steps away from him and had her back towards him. Sighing she looked a tree observing it. She chose to ignore him for that second.

The great lake was an amazing sight when nobody was being mean or inturupting her. She continued to look at a tree and get lost in her thoughts.

She smiled to herself as she ignored them as she began to ponder her thoughts. Man this was such an eventful day for her. She kind of liked this day.

Max rolled his eyes at Rosie's tirade, anger warring with the need to act mature, like his parents had told him to. He wanted to shake her shoulders and yell that she was wrong, but it clearly wouldn't accomplish anything with someone as pig-headed as her. Wizards weren't superior to muggles? The statement was so laughable that he didn't want to dignify it with an answer. Of course wizards were superior; what could ten muggles do against a wizard who had mastery over a few simple spells? He was about to say so when the other girl starting talking, clearly trying to provoke a reaction.

He froze in place when she called him a muggle, lips curling back in a silent snarl of anger as his hand tightened where it had perched unintentionally on his wand. And then, to touch him, like she had any right to lay a hand on him... Losing his temper would be a stupid, stupid thing to do in this situation, and he knew either one of his parents could've ended this thing with a few short, mocking words. But he was still too young to control his temper; after all, he was only eleven and he'd been in a bad mood from the start.

Eyes narrowing to slits, he drew his wand in one smooth motion and tilted it in Eri's direction, remembering a spell his parents had used quite often and one that he'd read about in his Standard Book of Spells. "Incendio," he snapped, planning to burn a nice-sized hole in the grass by Eri's feet, see how she liked dancing around the flames. Instead, he lost control of the spell and stared in horror and amazement as the fire arced towards the tree Eri had been studying. He stumbled a couple of steps back as the dry leaves caught quickly, the tree going up in a matter of seconds.

"Stupid bloody spell," he whispered, swallowing as he realized that he could get in a lot of trouble for this. "Stupid bloody girls! You may as well stay here and keep your flaming spot! I'm leaving."

Rosie screamed and jumped back when Max used the spell, staring at the now on fire tree. She stepped back a bit and turned back to Max, her eyes narrowing once again. Not only was this boy close minded and infuriating, but he also sucked at magic. "You deserved that." She snapped. "Maybe study your magic a little more before throwing out empty threats." She picked up her bag, which she dropped when she was scared, and looked to Max again. "Don't ever even try to speak to me again, unless it's for an apology." Rosie pointed her finger at him, before she lowered it and harshly shoved past him.

Rosie also wondered why Eri was staring at a tree. That was weird. She rolled her eyes as she stormed off and headed off towards the castle again. Her visit to the Great Lake didn't do anything in her favor. Now she was angry. Rosie didn't think she'd be so angry in her early days of Hogwarts but low and behold, someone managed to make her angry. She felt angry tears welling up in her eyes, but Rosie furiously wiped her away. She was not going to cry. Rosie would not let him win. She thought that as she stormed away from the two rude people.

She laughed at max. She pulled her wand out she pointed it at the tree. "Auguamenti." A stream of water hit the fire. "See I was right. You aren't a muggle you are a sq.." She covered her mouth and thought better of the remark. She already angered him and she didn't need to cause any more trouble with him. Her mind went blank as she thought of an apology. What would she say? She almost called him a squib. Ugh this was hard.

She walked past him and looked across at the lake. She would think of an apology but right now her mind was blank.

She looked out at the lake. She hope he didn't know whatshe about called him, but what pure blood wizard did not know what squib mean. She was screwd. At least she only said the sq. Maybe he thought she would say squid, but why eould she say squid?

She wiped stray strands of her brown hair from her face as she thoughr. Maybe he deserved being called a squib. She shook her head. No he didn't he was a squib and she knew it. Another reason why she should think before speaking. She frowned again.

Max made sure he was far enough away to keep one eye on the fire before glaring daggers at Rosie's retreating back. "I'll never apologize to a ridiculous little witch like you," he called, forcing his voice into a casual drawl. "And you'd better watch when I do study magic. I won't forget this." Although, if anything, he'd try to avoid the girl from now on. He couldn't exactly hand out idle threats, so he'd have to pick on her if he saw her again. Yeah, it would be better if he didn't see her. He hoped they didn't share any classes together.

He turned back to Eri, impressed when she doused the dumb spell he'd done in a matter of seconds. It was too bad she kept trying to annoy him; he wouldn't mind learning a thing or two from her, since his first spell had gone so absolutely wrong. When she spoke to him again he tensed, his jaw locking and his face paling at the insult she'd about to say. Had she been about to say squib? Him? He ought to hex her for that, but he didn't want to try any more spells until he actually took some classes.

"All those insults you keep saying are insulting my family as well," he ground out in a low, rough voice. Setting something on fire should've doused his anger, but it was returning back full force at the thought of what his parents would do if he let a word like that go unpunished. "I don't want to make two enemies in one day, but you need to back off. Or, better yet, cool your head."

He was telling himself he shouldn't the entire time, but he really couldn't stop himself from stepping forward and shoving her as hard as he could at the lake. "Now we're even! Don't say those words to me ever again!" he yelled over his shoulder as he started running, planning to be well past even Rosie before Eri could get a spell off at him.

Eri caugght herself and got up. She needed to apologize for implying that. She didn't know why she insulted people when she was irritated before she even met.

She started running. She was a fast runner. She caught up to Max and stopped him by running in front of him. "Stop!" She took a breath. "I wanted to say I am sorry." And she added under her breath. "Why should I even bother." She didn't think he needed an apology but she had insulted him. "I came out here to vent some anger and you and Rosie were fightibg so I just snapped." She forced a smile.

Her green eyes sparkled. She was trying to be sincere but if she had been closer to the lake she would have fallen in the lake. She put her wand away showing she didn't want to waste her time firing spells.

She hoped he would accept her apology. So she contiued to stand in front of him and wait his response. She didn't even care that she also gave him a choice to push her out of the way.

She wiped some of her hair out of her face as she waited for something to happen.

Max narrowed his eyes, waiting for her to say it was a trick or shoot some spell off at him to ridicule him. He was surprised when she apologized, though it didn't sound like she meant it too much. Oh well; he'd already said they were even once he'd shoved her, and it wasn't like he could go back on his word. Not to mention the fact that, honestly, there was a lot he could learn from someone who already knew how to cast spells.

"It's fine," he said finally, blowing out a frustrated breath through his teeth. "I came out here to vent too, so I get it. I guess I should apologize as well." He stood there awkwardly for a moment, deliberating on whether or not to say what he was thinking. He may put on an arrogant act but he wasn't so prideful that he didn't know when he was outclassed. Besides, this girl was a Ravenclaw, and he liked their House a hell of a lot better than Hufflepuff.

"As long as you never call me something like that again, we're good. In fact... I have to go back to my dorm now, but... I'd like to learn from you. You're better at spells than I am by a long shot. We could meet in the Duelling Club tomorrow and practice, if you want. I'm a quick learner and if I caught up, we could be Duelling partners to help both of us improve." He shrugged; it was weird to be having such a civil conversation after that fight, but it made a lot of sense now that he wasn't seeing red from anger. "If you want. I'll be there tomorrow."

Eri looked at him stunned. Then she realized that he might not know her name. She didn't know his. She smiled and looked at him. "Oh by the way my name is Eri. You are?" She asked curiously. Was he serious about the dueling club thing. "Sure I will be there tomorrow." What was she doing. Maybe he would not show up or what not.

She walked to the side to get out of his way. Now she needed to find something to do. She was so bored. She had already been to the library a million times and she didn't feel like going today. She  did not really know what to do.

She sighed and walked back to the edge of the lake and sat there. Her mind was blank and she can't think. She was bored out of her mind. She sighed sitting down on the grass. She started throwing rocks into the lake. She looked  at the sky and smiled. It was still a pretty day. Did she want to go to the library or not? Maybe later. Sighing she got a book out of her bag and started opening the book to read. She sat quietly and read.

When Verla appeared to the lake, she immediately began scanning the trees, and began to pick up any twig or leaf that could possibly be the thing she was looking for.

Then she heard a beetle and looked toward one on the ground, trying to eat something. The thing it was trying to eat was one of them! It was a bowtruckle!

"Hey!" The beetle and the bowtruckle looked at her, the beetle began to look afraid but would not give up. She took out her wand and shouted "Sectumsempra!" and the beetle was split into two. When she put her wand away, she crouched down and extended her hand to the Bowtruckle, who struggled to catch it's breath, when it did, it looked at her scared.

"It's alright, I wont harm you." she said gently.

The Bowtruckle walked toward her and stepped into her hand. When she straightened up, it bowed in her hand, before giving a hug on her braided pony tail. She now had a new pet, and he was adorable. "What would you liked to be called?" she asked him.

He shrugged, and she began to ponder for a name to name him as, and she wanted to find just the right one.

"What cannot be seen, felt, or carried?" Person who gets this right I will donate some money to them.

"Max," he replied with a brief smile, glad to have someone to practise with. Whether she showed up or not, he'd be waiting in the Duelling Club to figure out some spells. But before that... before that, he'd look into her and find out just what kind of person she was. pure-blood, half-blood, whatever. He imagined she was pure-blood because she was strong, but it was always good to be sure.

Nodding to her, he stepped past her and continued on his way to the castle, glancing back briefly once. She was reading... maybe that was the key to learning even better. He'd have to go through his book by tomorrow so he had a solid foundation of the different spells they learned in first year. First up, he'd learn how to set things on fire properly. Second, maybe he'd learn how to dangle people in the air so he could make good on his threat to mess with that Hufflepuff girl if he saw her again. He'd also find out who she was, make sure he wasn't messing with one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight before it was too late to back out.

Yeah, that sounded like a good idea. Jamming his hands in his pockets, he started back to his dorms and tried to forget his earlier anger. Hopefully this time he wouldn't run into anyone else.
