Go to the dance with me? Closed

I didn't know why I was doing this. No, that wasn't true I knew exactly why I was doing this I was doing this because I needed to at least try to be more social, confident and to stop letting my stupid anxiety get in the way of every interaction. I had been getting better at talking to people since I had been at Hogwarts but asking someone to the dance? That made my stomach churn. I was sure my face was red but no matter how much my brain screamed to just skip this unnecessary stress and leave. To go hide out in my dorm room I didn't let myself stop walking. Today right now I was going to ask a boy to the Autumn ball. I bite my lip I was starting to feel sick but despite this, I walk up to you.

"Uh, hello..." I tried to say but my voice comes out as more a squeak and no one even seems to hear me.

I clear my throat and try again speaking louder this time, "Hi, um, I was wondering if maybe you would possibly want to go to the dance with me?" I barely get the words. Then for a second, there's no reply and embarrassment immediately fills me. Of course, this was a bad idea, what were you even thinking? He's going to say no. He's definitely going to say no. No, he's going to laugh in your face, and then he's going to say no. I bite down hard on my lip waiting for your response.

Honest to god Fyodor would much rather be anywhere else than here. The Hogwarts' Small Hall was bland, the freakish paintings seeming to follow him wherever he walked. He glared at a frame containing an elderly women and her cat, a look of mutual disgust coming from both of them.
His shoes seemed to be louder than normal as he walked across the stone floor, his hands placed neatly in his robe pockets as he approached the fireplace. The warmth grazed his skin as he grew nearer, the brightness of the fire far too hard to look at directly. Instead of conversing like any normal child, Fyodor stayed at a reasonable distance from everyone else, not daring to enlighten them with his presence. Instead, he overlooked the small groups of people, each seeming to form their own small clique.

Though as all things must come to a dreadful end, the enjoyable silence he one had was broken. A girl now stood before him, her expression almost as if she didn't want to be there in the first place. He hadn't noticed her approach, causing him to wonder how long she'd been standing there.
"Hi, um, I was wondering if maybe you would possibly want to go to the dance with me?"

She asked this question quietly, her voice so faint it would have been easy to mishear her. He looked at her quizzically, his head now cocked slightly to the side. A snort came from the American boy, the urge to shake his head hard to control. Is this was British people did? Asking random people to go on a date with you.. How funny. He'd never seen this girl in his life, much less wanted to. Fyodor read her face easily, the blush creeping upon her cheeks slightly amusing.

"Do I know you?"

My face goes even redder as the boy smirks at me. I straighten up trying to seem more confident then I am. Fyodor asks me if he knows me. My throat goes dry why did I decide to ask him to the dance? I should just go alone or better yet I think I should just not go at all. But its too late for that know, "Yes, well sort of. I've seen you around and we have a few classes together. I mean I didn't have anyone to go with and I thought you weren't going with anyone. Um, and I thought it could be fun so I decided to try my luck and see if you would want to go with me." I say quickly.

When he dosn't say anything I start to get more anxious so I cross my arms trying to act as if I don't care what his answer is. "I mean you don't have to say yes. I was just wondering. You don't have to be rude about it. The least you could do is give me an answer." I say not looking at him wishing I could just disappear. Waiting for his reply.

He watched her facial expressions shift, from once shy and timid to now as if she couldn't care less about how he answered. Why was that? Did she think she was intimidating? Oh yes, the first year girl was terribly frightening. He cocked an eyebrow at the crossing of her arms, eyes flicking to the side. Fyodor ran a hand through his hair, untangling any curls that were visible before.

"You're right, I'm not going with anyone. Why that makes you think I'm desperate is beyond me." He remarked, able to make himself just as snarky as she. He smirked at the comment of him being rude, unsure as to how this girl thought she was any nicer. Maybe they were hypocrites here, who knows? Regardless, he stood up taller and straightened his posture, at least a few inches above the girl.

"Y'know for someone who seems to not care you sure are red right now." He replied teasingly, his mocking nature getting the best of him. If he was being honest, she was pretty; terrible personality, though generally pretty nonetheless. He couldn't seem to spot any redeeming qualities, though perhaps they'd gotten off on the wrong foot. Unlikely, though still possible.
