Stubbornness v. Accepting Reality
@Jane Lewis
OOC: The last two paragraphs are really the main ones (the others are just thoughts really). Let me know if any changes need to be made!September 19th, 2020
Afternoon
She had been so sure.
Magic had just been a lie- a fairy tale. A way to explain what was still unknown or just an excuse for coincidences and phenomena. Hogwarts had just been this far off school likely filled with weirdos who thought this stuff was true. Lea hadn't agreed, a notebook carried around detailing other reasons for these 'magical' occurrences.
And yet it didn't take long to find it harder to be on her side. The spells they cast often had no reasoning behind them except will and magic. She could still deny it until she started casting her own magic. Outside of classes, simply be a thought or necessity for her wand to work. It was then that hesitation had started to build in the girl, swaying towards both sides. Lea didn't want to be here at Hogwarts, didn't want to learn whatever this 'magic' was, and yet-
There was something enticing about it. She wanted to learn more, maybe even master this ability of creating something out of nothing. Of being able to create magic out of will and practice. Brown eyes would watch those who could do it so carelessly, students with many more years of experience grabbing items with a flick of their wand or floating backpacks beside them. Her attention would always fall back to the space before her, books open to numerous pages as the young girl attempted to catch back up on homework. She had fallen behind from being unwilling to accept magic before.
It was a Saturday, and a nice one at that. The grounds had called to her, telling her to take a break. It wouldn't really be a break, though, as she found herself traversing to open space. Instead, the thoughts would come creeping back, back and forth of whether to truly accept this as her home now. Yes, she was catching up on homework and learning spells, but they were basic. It could still be done with some science and acting. The hufflepuff would draw in on herself, allowing the storm of thoughts to continue before bursting forth.
"Why is it so complicated?" Her voice was lower than normal, frustation coating her words. It wasn't a shout- just enough to get someone's attention from nearby- but Lea had never been known for blurting out emotions.
