What a nice way to end Schrödinger's birthday. Snag some candy. Hunker down and watch some moving pictures. It was an admittedly great way to end his birthday. That was what Xailah had been thinking up until the point, where she took a second- okay, third- candy. Xailah had just come from Muggle Studies, and Astronomy. Everything had been going swell at first; but she had unfortunately succumbed to temptation, while passing through the Astronomy area. She had wanted, not one, but two Earths- and a moon because... well, she just couldn't help it. Who didn't want two earths? And of course you can't have two earths and no moon. Her conscience had given her a slap on the hand and told her 'no'; but the familiar itch that was her kleptomania, won out in the end. It always did.
So now she had orange hair. Sort of. Her tresses wanted to take on the obnoxious orange hue, but her metamorphic nature tried to push the wretched color out. So it was orange- with splotches of inky black, and deep chestnut. She covered her face, as she walked into the ballroom. It was obvious that she was trying to avoid eye contact with the adults monitoring the event. She wasn't... embarrassed, not really- she was more sorry for (sort of ) getting caught in the act of taking more than one candy. Was the trick going to deter her from her bad habits? No. Did she learn anything from the trick? Yes- that orange was not really her color. The new librarian would remove the hex from the odd little Gryffindor, as the child passed through the cobwebs, and into the ballroom. Xailah would peer at the woman, like a dog that had just wet the carpet. Yes, I wasn't supposed to do what I did. Am I sorry for what I did? No. Absolutely not. But I'm going to look at you like a puppy, anyways, so you are fooled into thinking that I am indeed ashamed of my actions.
Happy to have the bright color removed from her person, Xailah would prance across the rest of the room, with her ball of cat rolling along beside her. The dreadful shade of orange, clashed terribly with her catty ensemble. Though, it surprisingly fit well with Schrödinger's pumpkin suit- so maybe the color wasn't that horrible. Alright, fine, it was pretty bad. She wouldn't be missing the color any time soon. Despite the constant sound of impending doom, that creaked through the air, Xailah found herself to be quite relaxed. Which was rather odd, when she considered the fact that all her former experiences in the ballroom had been rather negative. Maybe the settle acceptance of disaster that echoed through the room, was what put the beastling at ease. Be it intentional, or not, the organizers had not tried to hide the fact that something could go wrong- not that anything would be going wrong. For once, Xailah actually had faith that this would be one of the few staff-run events that would not end in ashes.
Or maybe that was just what she wanted to believe, since it was her cats birthday. The girl slunk around the room in her black cat ensemble, unsure of what to do before the movie started. Xailah had never been to- or really seen a movie before. She had only had a few glimpses of the moving pictures, while peeping into the shops in Diagon Alley. So the movie part of the event was more of a treat for her, than it was for Schrödinger. Xailah and her feline would linger around a table full of goodies. Over the years, the girl had grown cautious of snacks that were free of wrappers- and even snacks that still had their wrappers on. People were starting to get crafty when it came to lacing food. The Gryffindor would reach out for a stick of licorice, but retract her hand, once she began to eye the caution tape surrounding the snack table. I'll pass. It was better to be safe than sorry. Schrödinger grumbled at the feet of his mistress, as if he were a pouty child. "Sssorry Schrödinger, but I don't trust those snacks."
It was rather sad that she had to question the safety of food being served. A child should never have to check their snacks for questionable things. Xailah looked down at a pleading Schrödinger, before sighing. She stooped, picking up the fuzzy pumpkin. "Oh! I know! Lets go sssit down, and look through our candy." She exclaimed, in an attempt to 'cheer' the cat up. She bounced him a little on a her hip, in the way a mother would with a toddler. As she looked for a space to sit, her eyes would fall on a familiar form. "Oh look Schrodinger, its Pericles." A spindly finger would direct the feline to where a ghostly-looking figure stood. It would appear that Pericles had fallen for a trick, and was now trying to reason with the Librarian. From where she stood, Xailah could not see the pain, and disappointment, that was plastered on the eagles face. If she had, she probably would have thought twice about laughing. "Good going, Dralt." She gave the boy a one-handed (her other hand was supporting her glob of cat) golf clap, from across the room.

Goblin' It Up
With the spoils of the night in the pockets of her scientist lab coat costume Molly followed some other students towards the ballroom for the final event of the evening. She had to admit to herself that although she had trick or treated solo she had a lot more fun than she had been expecting and she couldn’t help but admire other students’ costumes. Some of them had really gone all out and the atmosphere was wonderful.
As Molly continued towards the ballroom she entered a dimly lit tunnel, the passageway looked completely different and for a moment Molly had to remind herself that she was still inside Hogwarts castle. A few cobwebs clung to Molly’s hair as she turned around taking the entire tunnel in. One of them caught along her cheekbone causing her to jump and scramble at her face to make sure that there was no spider crawling along her face. Molly was sure that she appeared completely foolish to any peers that were still in the tunnel with her. She only stopped flapping when she was quite sure that there was not spider crawling on her. Molly wasn’t particularly scared of spiders, but it was instinct when you thought something was crawling on you to try and remove it as quickly as possible.
Molly’s heartbeat finally slowed down as she emerged from the tunnel and her eyes took in the spectacle that stood before her. The staff really had gone all out and Molly thought that it was fantastic. There were old trees stood before her and Molly felt as though she had just entered the forbidden forest, fog from the tunnel flowed out and hid Molly’s feet so she had no idea what she was stepping on and she silently prayed that nothing would grab her feet or trip her up. With her being the clumsy oaf that she could be it was possible that she would trip over her own laces and it would not be a part of the trick or treating at all. Molly therefore walked more cautiously than she would normally, probably appearing scared to anyone who was watching her.
The room really was a feast for the eyes, there was so much for her to take in, jack -o-lanterns floating alongside skulls. Although it was possible to see the room was dimly lit, it felt like when you are tired and falling asleep but insist on keeping your eyes open. When your peripheral vision starts to dim and blur before you finally allow yourself to slip into a slumber. It was then that Molly noticed Professor Karr who offered her a choice of five bags. After consideration Molly settled on the spider bag, given her slight freak out on her way in she thought it would be ironic. After making her choice she thanked the professor and then moved out of the way for other students to make their decision and she made her way further in.
Seeing the moving pictures from the old projector Molly instantly recognised the movie of Nosferatu, it was one of Molly’s mothers’ favourites. Molly had lost count as to how many times she had seen the movie on Halloween night, but it made her smile lightly.
Seeing the buffet spread out under the skeleton Molly collected a drink and then moved over to the collection of pillows and blankets. Grabbing a solo pillow, she moved it off to the side away from some other students already gathered. It was not that she wanted to be antisocial, but she did not want to interrupt them either. She settled herself on the ground a took a sip of her drink and watched the pictures being cranked by Robyn the Librarian. Remembering the candies, she had obtained from the Library whilst trick or treating, vampire kisses. She pulled one out of her pocket unwrapped it and popped it into her mouth. All in all Molly had really enjoyed the evening and thought that the professors had done a wonderful job.

It had been a while since Jo had gone on an errand. At this point, there weren't too many things that could drag the tired second-year out of her dorn. Halloween, however, was one of those rare events. Even so, she managed to be late as she was stopped in the hallway and reprimanded for running. Ugh, prefects.
Entering the tunnel, Jo realized she had almost forgotten the splendour of Halloween at Hogwarts. Despite being Muggle-raised and knowing more about Muggle holidays than many other pure-blooded wizards, Halloween in all of its Western grandeur was still quite foreign. In Japan, Halloween was no more than some vague concept of children dressing up and getting some candy for it. There were no elaborate decorations, no haunted houses, and certainly no smoky, spider-web-filled tunnels. Considering what happened at the Blossom Ball, Jo certainly wasn't too keen on going up against or even thinking of insects - even to the point where she has stopped her macabre beetle collection. (Rafael D'spacito would be proud, she thought with chagrin.)
As she entered the room, a professor offered her a goodie bag. After careful consideration, Jo selected a bag with a ghost theme, hoping that the insides wouldn't be ethereal and inedible or, even worse, moudly and rotting like the food ghosts were said to eat. After thanking the professor, Jo tucked the bag away in her pocket. Any tricks or treats inside would just have to wait for later.
The skulls and jack o'lanterns hanging from the ceiling made the girl squeal with delight. To think that someone would go to all this work, just for a single day! It really would be a special Halloween. The black candles were certainly a nice touch, and Jo couldn't help but appreciate even the terrifying tunnel.
The film that would grace the screens of Hogwarts today was...Nosferatu! The brunette almost jumped with recognition. Although she herself regarded the old black-and-white movie as nothing more than "old people nostalgia", she had many a good memory involving a crackling hearth, spicy pumpkin juice, and lying on the sofa with Lady Aithne as the titular vampire crawled about the screen. Lady Aithne loved the drama and flair, and Jo herself could look at the Gothic costumes and set all day. Despite their sour reunion last Christmas, something inside Jo told her that today was going to be a good day. Candy? Scary things? What could go wrong? Well, a great deal of things could go wrong, as she had learned the hard way during her time at Hogwarts, but she's just have to cross those bridges when she came to them.
It was good that Jo had arrived when she did, for looking at the restless students alone was enough to tell that the film was about to begin. Hastily collecting some food and sweets (well, to be honest, mostly sweets), Jo sat down to enjoy the movie. If another student came along to say hello, that was fine. If not, that was fine too. At the moment, all was right in the world. That didn't happen very often, and Jo was determined to do anything not to spoil her very rare, very awesome day.

After a good bit of Trick or Treating, Dan and his bestie @Andrew Vance, had come to the ballroom for the movie night. Batmandy was acting very... skittish. But, Dan Joker was not complaining. Andy was all over him, almost to the point of constant hugging. Dan's face felt a little warm, as if he was blushing. He probably was, to be fair. His crush was insisting on getting as close as possible to him, and he was LOVING it.
The interior was plenty creepy, and a thing or two made him jump, but overall, he was just having fun. Loki, on the other hand, was not a fan of the spooky atmosphere. He could feel claws digging in as Loki arched his back and hissed at various things. Dan repeatedly had to calm the kitty, sighing each time he had to. He wasn't sure if Loki was scared of the things, or if he was trying to scare the things off, but either way he would need a Reparo spell for his outfit, with all the claws going into it.
When they finally arrived, there were, of course snacks, and, to Dan's honest surprise, a really old timey crank movie player.
This was a thing Dan simply could not understand about the Wizarding world. Sure, he loved it, and magic was SUPER convenient, but why was everyone such a technophobe? What the hell was so wrong with a blu-ray player that they went to primitive crank handle dinosaurs like this?
As Dan began to help himself to some food and lemonade, he took a Jack o' Lantern grab bag, since carving gourds and pumpkins originated in Ireland, and he originated in Ireland, Dan felt a sense of connection between him and Jack o' Lanterns. Loki hopped off of him and curled up on a pillow. It was clearly evident that he had had enough excitement for the moment, and wanted to have a break.
Dan could hardly blame him; he'd hidden kitty treats in all the trick or treat rooms so Loki could trick or treat too. And the kitty mister clearly enjoyed himself, but now that all the exercise was finished, he was ready to crash. Which was fine by Dan. He'd still feed the mister some of his favorite salmon chewy treats as they watched the movie, but he mainly just wanted to curl up beside Andy and watch a movie. He didn't remember which movie it was going to be, but unless it was scary as in scarily bad, it didn't much matter.
Then he got wondering if it was going to be one of the old slashers like Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street, but he doubted it. It was probably going to be something like Hocus Pocus. The absolute worst Dan could imagine this lot shelling out for was Beetlejuice. But, maybe they'd get lucky and they'd get something like Nightmare Before Christmas.

OutfitIt was a bit awkward to walk in but the costume look cool either way; since it was a armor Knight costume. Henry smiled at Miranda's reply saying that trees were better and he looked at them before saying " they are definitely wicked, I wonder how they got them here?" Henry then saw Miranda take the mummy there bag and couldn't help but say " that's a cool one, I wonder what's inside," Henry then saw a friend enter the great hall. He watched as Logan shared a cupcake with her cat; Sherlock who was wearing a shark hat.
Even though Henry was there with Miranda; his girlfriend he couldn't help but want to go sit with Logan also since she was alone. Henry nodded to Miranda when she spoke before speaking himself " I don't really know, would a closer seat be better? Or are they all the same?" Henry wasn't looking at the seat when he saw Sherlock run up to him and awkwardly he bent down in his Knight costume as he reached to pet the cat " hey Sherlock, aren't you cute but shouldn't you be with Logan," Henry then looked over at Miranda before speaking " he's my best friends but I wouldn't touch him hey since he can be a bit weary around new people."
Henry then reached for a cupcake on the table and broke a piece off as he gave it to the cat before smiling " I think I found some seats, uh this way Miranda," Henry then used the cupcake to lure Sherlock to follow him as he occasional gave him a piece to keep his interest. Henry the approached Logan who was sitting alone, Henry gave Sherlock the last piece of the cupcake before speaking " I love Sherlock's costume Robin," Henry smiled at Logan before joking " But I haven't quite figured out yours through, are you a crazy cat person?" Henry laughed a bit before speaking again " Sherlock found me so I thought I would bring him back to you, you know I think he did that on purpose he's definitely smarter then he shows."
Henry then smiled over at Miranda before speaking again " mind if we join you Robin? I don't know much about movies but your seat seems like the best one unless your waiting for someone else," Henry then sat on his knees next to Logan and petted Sherlock for a bit before speaking " so do either of you know anything about this movie player or movies?"

Logan squeaked as someone started to talk from behind her. "Haha, very funny Charm. I did not bring any costumes with me so I decided this was going to have to do. Aunt Hannah on the other hand insisted that Sherlock look his best anywhere he goes and I received his little hat a couple of days ago." Just the thought of the box of clothes she had for the cat surprised her. Sooner than later she was going to have to bring a trunk just for Sherlock's clothes.
Logan took Sherlock into her arms and pat the open set of blankets beside hers as an offer for the two of them to sit down. "Did he find you so you would bring him back to me, or did he find you because he knew you were going to give him food after I told him he wasn't allowed any more of my cupcake?" The Hufflepuff questioned as the wiped a crumb off of the cat's almost clear whiskers. Said cat only turned his head away in protest as he started to lick his paws clean.
Deciding she needed to at least seem a little less rude, the young Hufflepuff looked up at Henry's girlfriend. "Hello, I'm Logan," she introduced herself with a smile as she looked back at the movie playing. "As this movie isn't Disney, I can't tell you much about it. If they play a Disney movie at any time I can tell you about it though." Not having a television in their home limited how much the Baird children actually watch, but her brothers had befriended a few muggle children down the road from their home and often the three Baird children would go to their home to watch movies.

"Maybe they were transfigured from something smaller?" Miranda suggested, studying the branches that laced together over their heads. "Or are they illusions?" She eyed the nearest trunk with a curious gleam to her gaze, suddenly tempted to go over and touch it. However, she abstained and instead moved on to other things.
"All the same I think," she replied when Henry asked about the seats, but if he answered, she didn't hear it. Instead, the whole of her focus was centered on one point - the cat that had just ran up to them. Well, had run up to Henry. But that was close enough. And it wasn't even a bad looking cat - in fact, if Miranda had cared about such things, she would have thought it looked quite pretty. Yet it still changed nothing. It. Was. A.. She hated cats.
Miranda dimly heard Henry talk to it, calling it Sherlock (the name rung a bell somewhere - maybe from one of her books). He then turned to her, and she struggled to fix her face into something more agreeable and hide her disgust, although perhaps he would catch sight of her semi-pained expression before she more or less hid it. "Oh, okay. Then I guess I won't touch him." She smiled half-heartedly, still eyeing Sherlock carefully. It looked like she was going to have to put up with the creature for a while longer, especially seeing as Henry began using a cupcake (who knew cats ate cupcakes? Certainly not her) to lure him into following as they searched for seats.
Their final destination was a girl with long brown hair and a friendly expression, who looked up when Henry spoke to her. It was obvious the two of them knew each other from elsewhere. And the cat. While Henry and the girl - Robin? - spoke, Miranda continued to keep a careful eye on Sherlock, just in case he got too close for comfort.
However, her attention was diverted when the girl suddenly spoke to her. And...oh, her name was Logan.
"I'm Miranda," the Ravenclaw replied with a more natural smile. "It's nice to meet you." She took a seat on Henry's other side. "And uh, movies? I know pretty much nothing about them. They're a pretty foggy subject..." Miranda trailed off, then shrugged, her cheerful demeanor returning slowly.

@Pericles DraltRobyn was standing by the projector, not wanting to sit quite yet as she would be for awhile using the hand crank projector to help the students experience the glory of Nosferatu. Students wandered in to the ballroom, some looking more spooked than others as they walked through the doors. The costumes ranged from brilliant to mediocre to nonexistent. She wasn't really judging. All she had thrown on was an orange and black suit. Probably the most minimal effort outfit compared to how she normally dressed. Students that needed de-hexing were quickly dealt with as she sent them towards the snack table or to the movie area afterwards. There weren't a ton that needed help, and she was fine with that.
She did spot Pericles as he walked in, but didn't really pay any mind to him. The student that had called out her rose and almost exposed her intentions behind the flower. A studious one that she planned on keeping her eye on within the library. Not necessarily because she thought he would get up to trouble. But because she wanted to witness how brilliant he would become. It surprised her though, when he headed straight towards her. Her hands were folded in front of her, nodding in greeting when he approached. "Mr. Dralt. I-" Her greeting was cut short in astonishment as he pulled down his mask to reveal the hex of her own. A quill gone rogue.
It took everything in her not to burst out laughing, expecting that no one would try and take two quills. Her lips pressed together, in what might look to him like utter disappointment, but it was actually the only thing keeping her from absolutely losing it as if someone cast the tickling charm at her. She stayed silent, slowly nodding her head as Pericles begged for forgiveness for his mistake. It was as if he had just committed a murder, rather than succumbing to a trick of trick or treat. After a moment, she raised her wand and pointed it at his forehead. "Scourgify." The ink quickly disappeared off of his forehead. Her left hand came to rest upon his shoulder, gentle and comforting. "You were already forgiven before you walked in here. It was just a silly trick, it held no real meaning. I apologize if it seemed like I would actually be mad. I suppose greedy is a pretty strong word."
Her left hand removed itself to pull one of the quills from earlier today out of an inside pocket. "I snagged one earlier myself. But, since you enjoy them so much." She couldn't help but lightly giggle. "Have this one. Come by the library tomorrow and you can get whatever leftover quills there are if you want to get all four colors as well. Thank you for taking ownership, but truly it was just a trick. I hope you're not haunted by this moment for more than tonight." A small smile as she started to turn towards the projector. "I have to get this set up, but go ahead and enjoy yourself tonight. You've earned it." A cheeky wink was sent towards him before she fully turned her attention to the projector in front of her.

The night was in fully swing as students had slowly begun to make it to the final stop of the Trick-or-Treat Spooktacular night. It had seemed to be a success with students picking their final treat bags, stopping over by the snack table, taking in the decorations in awe. There had obviously been a lot of work done, and the students were absolutely eating it up. It was exciting to watch the plans finally be executed, come to life, and then be enjoyed by all who participated. A couple of the participants even entered with hexes. It was a relaxing night, one of laughs and sugar rushes. The fun would start to wind down with a movie to help cooldown the evening.
Robyn was in the middle of the room near the projector, she twirled her wand up to her next and recited the incantation to help amplify her voice. "I'll be starting the movie in just a few moments. Please make your way over to the... movie area if you wish to watch." With a quick counter-spell, the amplification was over. The students would make their way over to the area with all the pillows, blankets, and cushions. Or they could watch from the tables behind Robyn as she did the hand crank projection. There were a couple of speed tests in the beginning of the movie, but quickly she found the proper speed of cranking it.
Kateri took no time in leaving her duties at the door, pulling up a chair beside Robyn. "Do you need anything to drink or eat?" A hushed whisper, barely louder than the movie. Robyn looked over at her with a small smile, "No, I'm good for now. I'll let you know if I need anything." For now, they sat back to enjoy the movie together tending to any additional students that walked through the doors a bit late.

"Good going, Dralt."@Robyn Finley | @Xailah Alptraum
The insult to injury was the fact that Pericles' friend was observing his blunder. He'd glanced about with a start, and on spotting the source of the call, two fluttering blinks denoted his shock. There was no smile nor eyeroll, only an abrupt averting of his stare. He was doing his very best to hold the librarian's gaze without grimacing. What was easily interpreted as a mouth pursed in disapproval had his stomach in knots, chin fighting to remain aloft despite the odd urge to duck. There was a flicker of uncertainty when her wand rose, though the moment a familiar incantation was uttered, that freckled face scrunched in anticipation. No soapy mouth: just his forehead scrubbed free from the accursed ink.
The bony shoulder Robyn touched was tense, eyes round as discs as the librarian of all people apologized. No real meaning? Was he not greedy, but in fact overreacting to the trick? Pericles looked to the quill she produced with a gawk. It was, as if by magic, the very same shade of mulberry red which had enticed him upstairs. The lad was reluctant to take it, and had he been speaking with a peer, it was plain Peri would have refused the thing outright. Instead his mouth moved soundlessly, a half-formed apology uttered without sound. Being greedy shouldn't see him rewarded with the very thing he tried to take, should it? Let alone an invitation to enjoy the night, and take more in the morning! But the prefect's wibble-wobbling morality over squish quills soon subsided. Robyn had dismissed the slight with firmness, finality, in a matter so eloquent that the young wizard could only utter a calm quiet "Thank you Miss Finley. I will."
That kind wink was answered with a twitchy smile before the boy slid away. He had a clear objective, and approached the metamorph with all the weariness of one who has just survived an inexplicably harrowing experience. As soon as Peri was in mumbling reach, retaliating rib met a wounded endearment: "You needn't mock me. I was trying to get an extra quill for you, you numpty." With a dramatic gesture, he held out the mulberry quill, its spongified feathers flopping tragically towards Xailah. "And you oughtn't call me Dralt, either. Everyone calls my father that and it makes me feel dreadfully old."
