Miranda quickly answered Nick's concern, which left him with a bad taste in his mouth. He thought they were having a good time, so it made him worry when she was acting this nervous. He wouldn't press any farther, though, Nick knows when he gets like this, he just wants to be left alone. Besides, this was their first time meeting, it's not like he had an obligation to know what was happening.

Nick stopped in confusion when Alina stopped walking the way they were going. He understood what she was doing when she sat down, though, and followed suit, sliding casually down the tree and down onto the ground. The grass was soft and cool, a nice change of pace from their casual walking. Plus, the view from this spot to the lake was awesome, the lake catching the light and shining beautifully.

Nick looked into the distance as Alina asked that question. He may be a wizard-born, but he and his family never had an ideal house that he needed to be in, at least his mom stopped it. " 've ne'er really thought about it. I mean honestly 'm glad the Sorting Hat didn' just kick me out." Nick said, chuckling a bit, "I guess that 'm just more ambitious than friendly, smart, o´ brave. What about ye, Alina? I mean yer definitely the friendly type."

Looking back to the ceremony, when Nick had predicted which house he would be in despite having no idea what house he fit into. Suddenly, Nick realized that was probably his seer abilities kicking in, and Nick felt stupid not realizing that until now. It was one of the first times he could actually control his power, and he didn't even realize it. That was over a year ago, though, so it was definitely a fluke.

Miranda let out a small sigh of relief when they started heading away from the lake, although she hoped her companions didn't notice. However, even if they did miss that, the disappearance of her formerly tense aura was quite palpable.

Their little trio quickly reached a small grove of trees that made Miranda feel slightly nostalgic, although the feeling was wispy and incomplete - like a notion without any realistic backing to it. She knew it was only a faint echo of the almost crippling feeling of home sickness that used to afflict her during the first half of her previous year, at least once the general excitement and joy of learning new things wore off. But the fact that it was almost gone was good, because otherwise she might've had to excuse herself from the little group much earlier than she wanted - even after her earlier discomfort, Miranda still found herself taking a liking to the Slytherin and Hufflepuff students.

"I definitely feel right in Ravenclaw," Miranda replied quickly, anxious to distract herself and learn more about the others at the same time. "I've always been a knowledge seeker, like my Mother. Although I do have a few of my Father's Gryffindor-esque traits as well." She grinned, her eyes twinkling mischievously. Bending rules and acting brave had never been problems for her - unless there was water or cats involved.

"I think I'm meant for Hufflepuff," she said with certainty in her voice. During her first year, especially before the holidays, she would have said no but in fact, she was as Hufflepuff as you could get and just had to realize that. She had been in denial due to the long lineage of Rosiers in the Slytherin house while at Hogwarts.

It felt good now to be an original. The breeze blew and it was a little colder and she looked up to see the dark looming clouds that were now overtaking the sky. "Looks like it might rain soon. Perhaps we should head back in?" Both Miranda and Nick seemed especially nice and she was glad to have met them. Maybe she'd cross paths with them again sometime but she always was a girl who liked the company of others but doubted if they liked the company of her. There were many at Hogwarts in particular that found her to be overbearing or annoying and if either of these two thought that, she didn't want to bother them by hanging around anymore. After all, she already forced them to the Lake and back.

Besides, now that it was her second year she also had learned something else. While she wanted to be that friendly, loyal, dedicated, trusting Hufflepuff...she was a girl that no one seemed to stay around for long. Why build a bond with someone when all they'll end up doing is let you down?

Nick smiled at the two girl's responses. While he doesn't know much about the two girls, he does know that the house you're in can eat away at certain people, especially if you have a wizard lineage. Luckily, these girls seem to embrace their houses with a strong level of peace and serenity. He did remember they were Second Years, so they all had a year to come to terms with their house, but he was still glad the two of them were at peace with it if they hadn't been before.

The sun was indeed being clouded up by the normal Scottish weather. Nick was actually quite surprised that it had been sunny early today, but of course, that was only briefly as the sun was always fleeting in this part of the world. He, of course, didn't mind as he was accustomed to this weather, having almost the same conditions in Stoneywood.

"If ye guys wan' tae go inside, go right ahead." Nick said as he crumbled a fistful of dirt in his hand, "I haven' been caught out in the rain in a while, sae I think 'll wait for it tae hit." He didn' mind getting drenched in water, in fact, he found it particularly enjoyable. It was a weird enjoyment of his, but not one he tried to hide like some of his other hobbies.

Nick did have some sense about the rain and proceeded to tuck his notebook in the inner pocket of his robe. He may like being covered with rain, but his notebook certainly didn't. "Well if ye guys do plan tae leave, it certainly was a pleasure meetin' ye n' I hope our paths meet again." Nick said, taking time to make direct eye contact and smile at each of them. He didn't know if these girls would go or not, probably the former since they probably weren't as weird as him, but he did enjoy the time they spent together.

She looked up to see the clouds rolling in and she knew what kind of clouds they were. They were the sort of clouds that were going to bring a LOT of rain and quite quickly too. It even already smelled like rain and she drew in a slow deep breath to take in the freshness.

Alina wasn't sure what Miranda, the Ravenclaw, wanted to do. She seemed a little timid or distant at the Lake and she wondered if that also meant she wouldn't like the rain as well. She looked from Nick, to the girl, and then back to Nick to see him tucking his notebook inside of his jacket pocket and that made her smile. "Why Nick Stewart," she said playfully and with a smile. "Are you one to dance in the rain?" By that, yes, she meant actually dancing in the rain, but she also meant it figuratively as well, to just enjoy it.

"If you don't mind, Nick, I think I'd like to stay out here a little while longer too. I've always enjoyed both the sunshine on my face as well as the raindrops. That is...if you're not sick of me yet."

And already it began to sprinkle just the smallest bit, barely showing its presence out in the Scottish Highlands.

Miranda gave Alina a curious look at the other girl resolutely announced she was a Hufflepuff, though she offered no explanation as to why. However, even though the Ravenclaw's curiosity was aroused, she knew better than to ask. Not everyone was comfortable sharing enough to sate Miranda's thirst for knowledge. Years of having her questions deflected or denied had shown her that quite obviously.

As she mused on that, the wind picked up slightly, and Miranda glanced up to see dark clouds gathering overhead. The sight made her expression become one of annoyed acceptance. The outdoors were wonderful...up until the point that water started falling from the sky. Then she didn't stick around for long.

However, Alina and Caelan didn't seem to be going anywhere, at least not right away. As much as Miranda would've liked to stick around and continue talking to them, she wasn't going to put up with water for it.

"Sorry, but I think I'd better head back inside," she said in an apologetic tone, turning slightly in the direction of the castle. "I have some homework that should probably be done sooner rather than later." Miranda waited to see if either of the others had anything to say, then turned with a wave and started back towards Hogwarts, hopefully before the rain began to fall too hard.

Apologies for the abrupt exit on Miranda's part - as much as I would've loved to continue the roleplay, I've made it a strong part of her character to avoid wet situations as much as possible, so it wouldn't make much sense if she stayed.

Nick was prepared for the two girls to say goodbye to him, so he began to start relaxing into the tree he was still sitting down by. He was still pretty in it to wave a genuine goodbye to Miranda. It was a bit abrupt of her to leave like that, but homework was her reason, and she was a Ravenclaw after all. He hoped that she would enjoy herself in her endeavours.

The pre-rain air and earth started to relax Nick more as he turned to Alina, who was surprisingly not leaving. He didn't mind, he was happy to find another person to spend time in the rain with. "Heh well maybe not dancing, but it's quite fun in a way isn' it?" Nick said, "Though I do think I wuld like tae see sum Alina Rosier rain dancin'."

As the sky darkened with the clouds, it was amazing that Alina still shined like a beacon of sunshine. Nick hadn't been sad or anything today, but his day was made a lot brighter by these two girls. Of course from Alina's natural cheerful demeanour, but also Miranda's genuinity and chillness. It was a shame the interaction with Miranda drew to an abrupt close, but at least he would spend at least a bit more time with other people.

The first bit of rain finally started to come down, just sprinkles for now, but the downpour would come eventually. Nick fondly thought back to when it would start raining while he was writing in the tree back at home and he would take shelter at the local diner and warm up with a black forest doughnut or two. "Naw, yer an interestin' lass, I couldn' get bored o' ye. 'd be glad tae spend these last few moments of non-torrential downpour with ye." Nick said with a contempt smile on his face.

And just like that, probably even before Miranda really got into the Entrance, the rain began to fall, just a few drops at first but it quickly picked up speed.

It was a nice rain and Alina looked up, allowing it to hit across her face and she smiled. "As much as my grandmother wanted me to be a dancer, it didn't really take off," she admitted. She knew lots of dances and could be quite graceful but it still wasn't going to make her join the On Pointe Dance Club at school or anything like that. Her grandmother made her and her sister practice often and long amounts of time and nothing they did was ever good enough. It kind of turned her off on ballet, at least.

"So what shall it be? Dancing or a game of tag?"
she smiled to Nick. That, of course, wasn't their only two options, but they were two options that stuck out to her in that moment. "And just fair warning...I'm a pretty fast runner." She said it nonchalantly like it was information that everyone should just know, like it was common sense.

While she waited his response, she went to a tree and held out her wand, casting the umbrella charm over her bag and kept it going so it wouldn't get wet due to the rain. "You can put your journal here too, if you'd like." He seemed protective of it.

Alina suggested playing tag, which surprised Nick. He hadn't played it since the boring neighbourhood parties he and his mother would attend many years ago. It did seem like something that could be fun with Alina though, so he decided to accept. "Why not both? A game o' tag with a dash o' dancing? That could be fun." Nick said happily as the rain continued to fall around them.

The rain around them was quite pleasant. Fall rain in the Highlands was always cold, feeling colder than snow surprisingly. It was quite funny to think about, that frozen water seemed to feel warmer than cold rain. Obviously, that was because of size and velocity, raindrops are bigger and fall harder than snow, but it was just a nice little thing to think about.

Nick instinctively put his hand in front of the pocket holding his journal when Alina suggested putting his journal under the Umbrella Charm. He quickly brought down his defences, it wasn't an attack or anything, just a suggestion, but his parental instincts kicked in. Granted it was an inanimate object, but it was one with extreme sentimental value. "Naw, it's fine. 'd probaly forget it was there anyway." Nick casually to Alina, trying to play off how much he actually cared about the journal.

The rain was starting to drench through his hair, so it was time to start enjoying it before the rain started to become annoying. "Well if we are havin' a quick game of tag, n' yer such a fast runner, than YER IT!" Nick said before starting to run away from the girl. He didn't go too fast, since he did believe Alina's claims that she was fast and didn't want to be tagged immediately actually trying. He also made sure to add a couple of spins and twists to dance a bit.

She didn't realize he'd start the game so suddenly and was surprised as he took off, running and sort of dancing all at the same time away from her. She laughed, glad that their game had begun!

"You better watch yourself, Nick! You might just fall on the wet grass before a girl can even beat you over to where you are. Now that I think about it...it might save you the humiliation." Now was Alina the fastest girl there at Hogwarts? Probably not. But if the school had a sort of track team she would probably be one of the front-runners if she chose to participate.

That was something that came from being a twin, and a competitive twin at that. She wast he first to be labeled on the ultrasound, the first to be born, the first to talk and the first to talk. She and Bella always had competitions on who would get somewhere first or climb the highest tree limb. All those moments had her ready. "Alright, here I come!" she shouted before running toward the boy.

It wouldn't be fair though if she took off in a straight run because that gave her an advantage. The closest distance between two points was a straight line. So she too did some twirling and enjoyed how it made the rain fall down on her face as she came after him. It was ridiculous but it was fun all at the same time and made her laugh more. "Is this the normal way of tag in Scotland?" she shouted so he could hear her through the rain.
