The next round of spell flinging went... well, only marginally better for the Badgers. @Maria Dee looked like she'd bitten into something very bitter, and made no attempt to even cast a spell this round. Recalling the shade of blue of the spell that had hit Maria just seconds ago, Dee's face morphed into a sympathetic grimace. Tongue-tied, eh? Literally.

While Maria looked ready to use her time of forced silence to make sure no other spell hit her, the Slytherin team had switched their focus to the same target: @Autumn Ivy. There were two flashes of blue this time, shooting towards Autumn, one from @Erik Tharaldson and @Illowy Magnard each.

Autumn had cast her spell at the same time, and Dee had to admit she was mildly impressed: Even while facing two third years basically on her own, both of their spells streaking towards her, Autumn managed to keep her calm and let another shower of green sparks rain down on the podium. And yet, it wasn't good enough. While one of the Knockback Jinxes missed her, the other struck true, and Autumn's sparks narrowly fell short of Erik, their intended target. It had been an extremely close thing, but Dee doubted that provided Autumn with any comfort. It wouldn't have for her.

Those Badgers really needed to work on their aim.

So close. She had been so close.

If only she had aimed a bit better. If only her target had avoided her spell a bit less successfully.

Autumn bit her lip. This was not good. This was really, really not good. The knockout felt equally bad, but she found that now she was more disappointed and angry than physically hurt. She could feel her body get more tired as she went along. Both "filipendo"s had taken a large toll on her.

And as easy and nice giving up would have been now, there were people, and there was Autumn's pride. She had to think before she acted. However, thinking before she acted had not helped her too much to this point of the duel.

She racked her brain for any tricks she could pull, any new ideas. However, she did not have too much time. She had to think fast. So that's what she did; think fast.

Since her “silencing” Maria had been put in fight or flight mode. Initially the knee-jerk reaction had to regurgitate the wonderful food the house elves had prepared and to avoid anything coming her way. That all changed however when it was her teammate that became the sole target. So they were trying to pick them off one at a time. A grunt of frustration resonated from Maria’s throat. She felt frustrated and helpless. They needed a plan. Looking to Autumn, she hoped to offer some sort of encouragement. Thus far, all their spells were misses. But they had to keep trying. Maybe they wouldn’t win, but she definitely wanted to wipe the smug look off the boy on the other team.

Dealla didn't even want to know what the Slytherins had done to receive this kind of luck in return - they must have sold their souls to the devil or something along those lines. Both @Maria Dee and @Autumn Ivy had decided to dodge for their lives - and still their opponents didn't seem to be able to fail. Two flashes of blue hit Autumn square in the chest, a lighter streak from @Illowy Magnard's wand first, closely followed by one that seemed to crackle with energy from @Erik Tharaldson, almost as if to make up for missing the round before.

Autumn was thrown back through the air like a rag doll, and would not be getting back up anytime soon.

The only plus side: Maria would feel the spell that had tied her tongue loosen and wear off - she was back in the game.

Maria's unease had turned into full blown panic when she saw that they'd taken down Autumn without so much as a scratch on them. The Huffle's eyes darted between the two, her neurons firing on survival mode. She'd only been hit once, which meant if she could only land a hit and outlast the two may she'd stand a chance. Part of her, however was beginning to doubt that was possible. But no, she wouldn't go down without a fight. For her housemates, teammates and for Autumn, she had to at least try.

Maybe it was bad luck, maybe @Maria Dee's composure had run out now that she was facing two arguable stronger opponents on her own, but whatever it was, things were not looking up for her. The spell she had tried to cast at her opponents instead exploded from the back of her wand, hitting her square in the chest - and suddenly, she felt like someone was tickling her, finding all her weak spots and exploiting them mercilessly in an attempt to force her to laugh. Her focus might be a bit splintered next round.

@Erik Tharaldson, although he didn't have to dodge any spells or suffer from other effects, seemed to have lost focus as well: His spell, although cast correctly, had likely been intended for Maria. Instead, it seemed to fly more in @Illowy Magnard's direction! Was this an attempt at revenge for the mocking going on between the two of them?

Luckily, his partner sidestepped the misguided spell easily, and it seemed she was truly on top of her game today, for the green flames from her wand actually hit their intended target: Maria, who now, on top of being tickled, also had to deal with the green flames eating at her sleeve.

Dee sighed, deflating a little. She'd hoped for a good match, but this... It would take a lot of luck and skill from Maria to turn this duel around.
