A Crisp, Fine Morning
Katie hummed to herself as she walked slowly asking the edges of the great lake. It was a crisp, Saturday morning, and what better way to spend it, then out in the fresh morning air. It was October, and She heard the sound of golden, red, and yellow leaves crunch underneath her soft boots.
She hadn't tested the water of the great lake, but sure imagined it was quite chilly. Katie didn't plan on testing the water for that reason. No point in getting her feet all cold and wet. A tiny dark Slytherin green snake pendant hung around her neck. She'd gotten it as a gift for her tenth birthday. Her pregnant was tucked under her robes and under shirt, so that no one could see it. It was beautiful, but the cooling feeling of the pendant against just her pale skin combined with the fact that she didn't want to go around and flash her belongings in others faces let out remain hidden from the rest of the world.
Katie remained so lost in thought, he surroundings melted away into a colorful goo that looked like when a bunch of paints had mixed, but only a little bit. She fingered the locket as she walked.

A Crisp, Fine Morning
On this fine Saturday morning, Cheryl had thought that it would be nice to take a stroll by the lake. The girl loved the cool October weather and the beautiful changes of color on the trees. It always reminded her of home. She had pulled her long, brown hair back into a ponytail to better feel the breeze on her face. As she walked along the edge of the lake admiring her surroundings, she noticed another girl walking around the lake. It seemed to Cheryl that the girl was zoned out and messing with a necklace of sorts hanging from her neck. Cheryl thought to herself that it might be nice to try to talk to the other girl. As she approached the girl, she noticed that it was a Slytherin pendant that the girl was messing with. 'Ah, another Slytherin. It's nice to see one like myself out here.' Cheryl stuck out her hand to the girl and introduced herself. "Hi there, I'm Cheryl Gorham. I see that you are also in Slytherin like myself. What's your name?" While waiting for a response from the girl, Cheryl thought to herself that she might have come on too strong. Cheryl shook the idea out of her head and smiled brightly at the girl. There was no way she came on too strong. She was just being friendly and polite.

A Crisp, Fine Morning
Katie had been initially startled when she first heard the go-to speak. Cheryl, she had called herself. Cheryl was a nice name. Katie had always liked names that began with the letter C though, so that could be just her bias speaking.
I'm Katie, Katie Palsorette. I go by Atie on occasion though. Katie replied upon meeting Cheryl. If you can't tell from the robes, I'm in Slytherin, and a first year at that. she added, hoping she did not sound too excited or eager. Nice to meet you Cheryl! Katie finished. Cheryl definitely seemed to be nice and friendly, and Katie could always do with another friend or two.
An added bonus was that she was also at the great lake with her, implying that Cheryl also nice walks in the fresh morning air. She smiled brightly at Cheryl hopping to not come across as awkward. Katie had never been the best at making friends out acting as the stereotypical, normal girl. She was just a little bit too eccentric to pull normal off. Katie really hoped that Cheryl wouldn't mind though. Siobhán and Hildegard, her two friends, at this school did not mind after all.

Cheryl was surprised by the girl's bright and energetic response. Honestly, she believed that the girl would turn away or be put off by her approach. Cheryl was someone who always had been eager to make friends and tended to talk quite a bit. That always seemed to annoy and irritate people, so for that reason, Cheryl didn't have many friends.
Katie however, didn't seem put off or annoyed in any way at all. In fact, Katie seemed just as energetic and friendly as herself. It was good to know that the girl was about as friendly as she was. She was also pleased to hear that Katie was also a first-year like herself. She felt that Katie might be a good friend to have.
"Nice to meet you too, Katie! I too am a first-year. It's always good to see a friendly face around here. So, what brings you out to the lake, if you don't mind me asking?" Since they had both been walking outside, Cheryl came to the conclusion that they both had an interest in the lake or being outside in such beautiful weather, which meant they were bound to have at least one thing in common. This brought a smile to her face since she didn't know many people who also enjoyed being out here by the lake.
