October brought with it more than just cold weather and looming midterms but the promise of children being sugared up and set forth in groups of princesses and demons to adventure the halls in search of adventure. Trick-or-Treating had been something that many Muggleborn students were all too familiar with. The excitement and stories had filtered along to those that maybe were not as aware of this tradition within the magical world. While there were no neighborhoods to wander the streets of, walking up and greeting neighbors to ask for those sugary delights. There were Professors that wanted to make the castle feel the same, filled with the same joy and excitement of being able to get sugary treats for free. The professors and staff had been planning to make up for their lack of being able to go out on the town and trick or treat by setting up locations within the castle itself for the students to take advantage of.

By mid October students would see posters placed around and an announcement during one of the dinner feasts about hosting a Trick-or-Treat event on Halloween night. Costumes were welcomed but not required and of course students could bring either a pillowcase or some sort of container for their candy. It was sure to be a night of destressing from the looming responsibilities of school. At every location there was some sort of candy receptacle, and a label for how much was allowed to be taken from it.

A thin table had been set up against the wall in the Small Hall, catching the attention of those entering the Great Hall. On it, students would find a few trays of mini cupcakes. These cupcakes were a lot smaller than the usual size - around half the size, in fact. In front of each tray, there was a little placeholder that listed the ingredients in the cupcakes. Neither had egg in them. On the right, there were chocolate cupcakes and the left had vanilla flavoured cupcakes. The cupcake cases varied in colour but every cupcake had the same icing on it: a white blob with little black eyes. It was meant to look like a little ghost.

Barret like most children her age had arrived, wide eyed and frothing at the mouth at the thought of
consuming large amounts of sugar. She was quite proud of this year's costume. Growing up she'd always compete with her friends on making the most unnerving costume. With her large false yellow eyes with a black sclera. Her more humanly shaped body was hidden under a stack of homemade scaly coils. Her folded arms appearing to be the top coil.
Her excitement becomes incredibly apparent, but however a slight sadness and sorrow hides in the shadows. This year she wouldn't be traversing dark dimly light neighborhoods that had a cool fall smell in the air with her friends. She would not be dared to knock on the door of the more creepier houses in order to gain the extremely desirable sugary substance known as candy. Were they.. Even friends though? They didn't seem to mind excluding her out of jokes and activities. Sometimes she had gotten the subtle feeling that maybe they were annoyed with her... What could it be? The fact that she wasn't much of a social butterfly as them? Her hot headenesses?
Whatever really.. It's candy time! She happily walks forward to the tray... She looks down at the cupcakes...Oooh! Cute ghosts! Her eyes slightly sparkle at the view of something cute...She picks up one and smiles.. Thinking smugly about the fact that her smile probably made her costume look even more eerily. She looks at the cupcake, rotating it and observing it.. She observes the thick frosting at the top with both pleasure and sadness. She looks back on the other cupcakes. Why couldn't I Just take another.. or considering that this is chocolate maybe five... She looms over the chocolate cupcakes...No.. You can't there needs to be some for the other chocolate lovers..

Spooky day was here. Halloween. And it was time to trick-or-treat. It was later in the day, and Rose hadn't wanted to go trick-or-treating alone, so she had thought of people she would like going with. Eyre had said he was doing it with his dorm-mate. So she had then thought of sweet Aldor. She had met him at the Quidditch pitch and he had been anxious talking to her. Rose wanted to do something new with him, so she had invited him to trick-or-treat with her on Halloween, followed by the movie viewing. He had accepted and Rose had told him to meet her in the small hall, which was where one of the trick-or-treating locations was. So she was here, waiting for Aldor. She hadn't been waiting long, maybe a couple minutes at most. But she really wanted one of those cupcakes.

Rose was wearing a black tulle dress and witch hat from her mother. She had no idea where it had come from, since she had been ignoring her mother's owls since the howler a week and a half ago. Rose had gotten at least five owls since then, and she had put them in the bottom of her dresser, refusing to read them despite her mounting curiosity. She had been ignoring her mother in general since the howler. But. When she got a package, she assumed it was from Margerie for her costume, but it was from her mother, with a note that started out saying that she loved her and that she wanted to give her this outfit for trick-or-treating. Rose hadn't bothered to read the rest, telling herself that it was surely remains of the lecture that she didn't need any help from Rose or Rose's Aunt Coco or her Great-Aunt Margerie. Little did she know that it was not. Anyway, it was quite a spooky costume while also appropriate for her age. The end dragged on the floor a little bit. It was nothing like how she had felt at the ball, but it made her feel pretty. Her bag to carry the candy with was just a cheap plastic basket that she had been using since she was ten. It was kinda designed to look like a pumpkin and was boring compared to her costume.

Anyway, those cupcakes were calling her. She hoped Aldor would get there soon.

Halloween, there wasn't many reasons on why Aldor would want to be here today, there was too much people, yet, this did not stop him, he promessed his friend Rose Moon that he would be there in time, and he was, he would be currently searching for her, slowly walking around, avoiding to talk to anyone, yet, going unseen was not an option, after all, his costume was not exactly a common one.

Even though he was there for Rose, he admits that he has a weakness for sweets, and even though he is kind, and tries to be discreet all the time, this year he actually feels quite proud of his costume, to those who enjoy reading like Aldor and to teachers or experienced students, spotting what the costume was, would be a really easy task.

This year Aldor decided to go for an extremly elaborated costume, a dragon, was his choice, but not any dragon he found, in fact, he chose one described as one of the most beautiful dragons. A pair of multi-colored eyes one each side of the head, and scales with a pearl like color, claws, a tail and a pair of wings that covered most of the back, of course, an Antipodean Opaleye.

The details were strangely accurate to how many books describe the creature, it was clear that this boy really liked this type of dragon or really liked reading, or both for that matter, to top the wonderful or terrifying masterpiece, he carried a stuffed animal, a little sheep, as a small reminder of the true nature of these beautiful beasts, the wonders hidden in the depths of those colorful eyes, they only hid a predator, yet, Aldor didn't think this way, he loved animals and magical creatures all for what they were.

Soon enough after wondering around for a bit, he spotted Rose, waving slightly as he lifted the helmet shaped into the dragon's head, he seems happy, happier than most of the time at least.

Thank you for joining me!
"Aldor!" When she spotted him, she quickly made her way over to him and enveloped him in a hug. It didn't last too long, maybe a second or two, but immediately she thought about every way that was wrong. Maybe he didn't like hugs. Maybe he was feeling overstimulated today, like Rose sometimes did. Maybe she would mess up his costume.

Either way, she brushed that off and said, "Hi, Aldor! I love your costume- it's very clever. You're a dragon, right?"

He looked happy. Not stressed. When she met him at the Quidditch Pitch, he had been so anxious and stressed and Rose had only wanted to calm him down. But now, he seemed truly happy in his dragon costume. And that made Rose happy. She was smiling, big. "Thank you for coming with me. I wanted to come but I didn't want to come alone. How are you?" She said it like she really wanted to know, like she really cared. Because she did.

Rose thought Aldor was good company to be in. He might not be the most extroverted person, but Rose found that as a good thing. She was sweet and shy and she thought he was a very good friend. Hence why she invited him to trick or treat with her.

Rose smiled. "The little ghost cupcakes are super cute," she commented. They were kinda close to the table, close enough to walk a couple paces to grab a cupcake.

"Chocolate or vanilla?" Rose asked Aldor, wondering which he would chose. Rose personally thought that a lot of vanilla cupcakes tasted like chemicals. These were magical cupcakes, of course, so they could be different, but Rose had always had a secret grudge against vanilla cupcakes. She would wait for Aldor to choose and take a cupcake before grabbing a small little ghost chocolate cupcake.

When it came to costumes for Ileen it was such a thing – sometimes she loved it and sometimes she absolutely despised it. It was probably the fact that she had been dealing with costumes because of the Fall Ball she had helped to organize, but this evening she had enjoyed dressing up. But it had also been a lot of work to spray her dark hair white to pass as a ghost. She had needed a whole tube of the remedy to make the dark color not only look ash grey. Wearing a fitting baroque white dress, she was all in all very satisfied with her appearance. Of course, it would have been faster if she already could do the magic to turn her hair and skin white, but like this she was more committed to the thing – everything she was putting more than just a little effort in should be totally worth it.

Of course, they were all used to ghosts here and the costume was not necessarily scary, but Ileen still felt comfortable and anyone who looked at her with raised eyebrows she would meet with icy eyes.
The young Slytherin had no plans for this event, she just would go upstairs and look if there was anything interesting. Maybe she would meet someone she knew? Light-footedly she tribbled up the stairs from the dungeons to the Entrance Hall and glanced attentively at her fellow students who crossed her way.
A lot had changed since last year – for example, Ileen was trying to recognize her classmates, anticipate their behavior and maybe even see if they were doing well or badly. The positive influence quest was on her mind a lot and made her reconsider many situations. If that was good or bad was not yet to tell though…

When the young Slytherin entered the first floor and made her way to the Great Hall she noticed a small gathering in the Small Hall. Although crowds of people were usually a signal for them to stay away from this place, she stopped curiously.

Lea was a bat. Unlike the ball, she had actually sent a letter requesting a costume. And since her "costume" had been bat-like before, it seemed reasonable that she become full bat. If only the wings didn't try to constantly get in the way of things. They were just fabric, how had they caused so much of a hassle already?! Still, the girl had managed to find her way to the Small Hall, carrying her own bag to put candy in. After all, how else was she supposed to carry it? (Maybe with her wings- they could finally be of some use.)

It was pretty easy to find the candy here- the table with cupcakes easily catching the girl's attention. Light steps could be heard as she walked towards it, noting that her bag wouldn't really be of much use here. But that was fine, the cupcakes looked amazing anyways, so Lea could just eat it now. Although destroying the little ghosties did seem sad after all the work put in to bring them alive. But food was food.

Brown eyes would then notice the little slips of paper. Ingredients, she realized, after beginning to scan them. Her parents would've appreciated that, the tang of homesickness coming back for a moment. But her focus quickly returned to the sweets at hand, trying to decide which she would take. Ultimately, a chocolate cupcake with a purple case ended up in her hand, stepping aside from the table to set down her bag and sit down. Not bothering to find some sort of napkin, the hufflepuff would gingerly pull the case away from the cupcake, trying to make sure no crumbs spilled. It wasn't an easy task, but it was certainly an important one. Anyone who had been paying attention to the small girl would have noticed how she had sat down before standing up a minute later. She would brush off her costume, noting how few crumbs fell before marching off in search of more candy.

After all, it was Halloween- the night packed with candy and sweets (and the occasional scare).

Aldor would smile the same shy way he always had, and before he could even say anything, Rose hugged him, he simply jumped a little, but did not say a single thing, truly, he expected that to happen as soon as she aproached him, but if Rose was happy hugging people, he could handle it for a bit, luckily, she probably realized that maybe he wasn't fully comfortable with hugs and did not take long to let him go.

His friend complimented his costume, calling it clever, he really felt happy that Rose said this about his costume, after all, even though he heard someone else speak about his costume, he remained hidden under the dragon's head.

''Yeah it's- an Antipodean Opaleye it is- My favorite type of dragon-''

The boy remained silent for a moment, suddenly, Rose broke the silence by explaining why she invited him, asking how he felt today. Truly, Aldor was not in his best mood, being around so much people was not exactly his thing, of course, this time he could avoid this feeling with his costume, remaining hidden within the multi-colored eyes of the creature he decided to mimic.

''A bit overwhelmed- It was a long day, and trust me, it is not easy to convince me to be in events like this, so, lucky you, managed to convince me.''

Aldor would simply smile after this comment, even though he actually looked tired, he indeed looked really happy, first Halloween at Hogwarts with a friend? This was probably the best Aldor could ask for. After a bit of time talking about himself, Rose asked him what flavor of cupcake he wanted, he was ok with either flavor, as someone who baked, he did have a few things to say about vanilla flavoring, except when his aunt used it, somehow she made anything that had vanilla flavoring taste non chemical.

Before he could ask for a chocolate one, a scent he never realized was there before struck him, it wasn't overpowering, but now that he noticed it, it was really obvious.

''Oranges?- I-I mean uh, chocolate, I rather have chocolate, please-''

He simply chuckled quietly, as he tried not to think about it.

Rose had no idea what he said, though it sounded sophisticated. But apparently it was his favorite type of dragon. "Cool." They had talked about their love for animals at the Quidditch Pitch, if her memory served right.

She smiled brightly, feeling as lucky as he suggested. "Lucky me." It was totally fine for him to be overwhelmed. Rose had curled up and read a book before this, so she had saved enough extroverted time to last her until the end, though she wouldn't really want to touch anyone by the end- good thing it ended with a movie, something that didn't require much social thought. She was also lucky it was a Saturday, meaning there were no classes today. She couldn't fathom how certain people could be the light of the party or, even stranger, get energy from social interaction. Extroverts. How strange they seemed to her. And she could only imagine how strange introverts must seem to extroverts.

"That's okay, you can just stick with me," she offered, sounding like she understood. Because she did. She was just a little bit protective over Aldor, since he had mentioned something along the lines of nobody liked him, so she guessed that he got bullied and didn't have many friends. She didn't want to prod him about his long day, since she didn't want to intrude on Aldor's personal business.

Oranges? Where did that come from? Rose's mind drifted to the conditioner she used in her hair. She could smell her own orangey-ness, especially when she came fresh out of the shower. She blushed a little bit, not knowing how obvious it was, but it was disguised when she walked a couple paces forward to get two chocolate cupcakes.

She handed one to Aldor. "Do you care which one we go to next?" If he said no or didn't provide a suggestion, Rose would say, "Okay, maybe we could go to the Flying one?" Since their talk at the Quidditch Pitch, Rose's eagerness for playing Quidditch had subsided and she was now on the dueling team. But it would still be a fun time there, guaranteed.

Percival didn't know what he was supposed to wear. Sure, he had seen his housemates work on their respective costumes all week. Some even put in almost a month of work into their costumes. Yet here he was, without a costume and with little clue how to go about this entire thing. Percival's family had never encouraged dressing up for Halloween, and the entire thing felt foreign and a tad strange. Though the act of dressing up had piqued his interest. Which was why the boy stood in front of his bed in the common room trying to think of a simple and easy costume he could put together under ten minutes.

Percival's eyes fell on his bed, specifically, on the familiar white fitted sheet that lay underneath his comforter. An idea clicked in his head, and he decided he would go as a ghost. A simple design that wouldn't be too much effort. The boy pulled the sheet off of the four-poster bed. Knocking off the pillows and the comforter with little care. Bundling the fabric up into a ball the boy walked into the center of the room. Percival spent the next couple of minutes carefully laying out the white sheet on the stone flooring. Once satisfied with the positioning of the sheet, the boy stood up from his crouched position and went back to where his trunk sat.

His hands gripped the leather straps, pulling the lid of the trunk up and out of his way. The boy wasted no time digging through his trunk to get to the bottom. Percival pulled out two items a pair of sunglasses, that he had stolen from the common room, and a knife, that Selim had loaned him. Percival looked at both items before placing them down onto the ground next to him. With his hands, he gently closed the trunk.

The boy picked up his items before going back over to the sheet. He doubted the quiet boy would appreciate what he was about to use the knife for, but desperate times called for desperate measures. With that in mind, Percival cut out two identical holes in the white fabric for his eyes. The boy stood up, bringing the sheet into his arms as he did. He brought the fabric over his head hiding his entire body except for the eyes that peered through the two holes he had cut out. Though that would soon change, as Percival picked up the heart-shaped sunglasses and put them on his hidden face.

Standing in front of the mirror, Percival gave himself a once over. He looked like a plain white ghost though the sunglasses, in his opinion, brought his plain costume to another level. The boy quickly re-hid his knife taking care of avoiding tripping over the bottom hem of the sheet. Now ready, Percival made his way to the Great Hall. He noted everyone's costumes, some were very elaborate while other's were more simple. The boy was pulled out of his gawking as he noticed a small crowd gathering in the Small Hall. His interest peaked, and before long the boy changed courses and walked closer. Percival looked about trying to figure out what was going on, and in his scanning came across a somewhat familiar face. "Ileen? Nice costume." he said slightly surprised at seeing the other Slytherin.
