Pitter-Patter
It was like any other day in the Hogwarts library, the tranquil silence fitting for the weather outside. She listed to the rain pitter-patter softly against the window beside her, streaks of water running smoothly down the pane. Her eyes drifted earnestly back to the paper in front of her, the empty page glaring back. It was made evident to Charlotte that buckling down in her classes would be no easy task, though the only thing she could do about it was try. Yet still, the lengthy three-hundred word essay due to her Transfiguration professor tomorrow didn't seem too enticing.
Nonetheless, she picked up her quill solemnly, her hand steady as if to begin writing. Though she didn't, and instead just hovered her writing utensil above with no intent to actually do something. Her mind seemed to be blank, any recall of moments or lectures in her class seemingly gone from her mind. She supposed researching the topic you're planning to write about played an important role, so the point in trying to do so without any factual knowledge was simply nonexistent.
The young Hufflepuff then arose from her chair, pushing it towards the desk as she stood up properly. She walked gracefully towards the shelves, her steps light in hopes to not disturb anyone. A few heads seemed to turn in her direction, though soon quickly returned to themselves. Charlotte carried on, a delicate hand raising to pluck a book from the shelf. It looked relevant enough, causing her to open it slowly. Her eyes skimmed through the paragraphs, glancing over diagrams and definitions, only to bit her lip as she frowned. Was she really that dim-witted?
Law of Conservation of Mass?
"I don't even-" She spoke in a mutter, her voice faint yet still audible to those close enough. She closed the book softly, a sigh escaping the girl's lips. Preparing last minute was certainly something she'd never try again.
