"Heather!" Miranda exclaimed, her features breaking into a wide grin. While she was surprised to see the other Ravenclaw there, she realized she shouldn't be - Heather seemed just as adventurous as she was, so it was no wonder she'd try the same thing. "It's so nice to see you here! And as for candies..." Her smile became teasing. "Definitely. I've never been beat at a treasure hunt before, tricks or no tricks."

Her words proved especially true, at least for the moment, when soon after beginning her search of the bookshelf, Miranda investigated a small mirror sitting on one of the shelves. Internally wincing at the destruction of property, even if it could be fixed later, she peeled back the frame as a last ditch effort to discover somewhere to look for treats. Fortunately, her breach of etiquette paid off: hiding inside the frame was exactly the prize she sought.

Flushed with triumph, she raised her head to check on the progress of the others, but couldn't see much from her vantage. However, it seemed like others had found items as well, but if those things were tricks, treats, or clues, she couldn't tell. Instead, Miranda decided to focus on a trio of craft ghosts in the corner of the room.

Groaning, Heather backed away from the paintings. She felt like she was so, so close to finding something, but sadly, in the end, her search wasn't successful. Well, better luck next time. Deciding not to waste any more time, the girl headed towards the small table, located on the opposite side of the room (C3). There, she noticed another contestant, no older than a first year, who also seemed to be also a fellow Ravenclaw, judging by his robes.

"Hey!" Heather greeted, cheerfully. "Erm... Good luck!". As she busied herself with searching the table, the blonde noticed Henry going towards the darkened area of the classroom. On his way there, though, he stopped next to her."Did you have any luck this round?" Heather couldn't stop herself from asking. Now that she thought about it, she forgot to check if Miranda found anything...

Raising an eyebrow at his proposal, the blonde Ravenclaw pondered Henry's suggestion. True, if she didn't have a partner, and were to win, she would be the only one who would get the prize. But, the prize wasn't what she came there for; and besides, having a team was more fun than working alone! "Si, sure. But," the blonde finally replied, gazing questioningly towards the three older students who were sitting at another table in the back of the room. "isn't against the rules to team up with someone?"

Suddenly, her track of thought was interrupted by her Slytherin friend once again. As expected, he started teasing her about her height, but Heather decided to simply shrug. "I mean, you may laugh at me, but I know you wish you'd be as tall as me." Letting out a small grin, the girl watched Henry advance towards the dark corner, before returning her attention towards the table. Hopefully, this time her search would prove to be more effective.

Robert was a bit disappointed at first by what he found after inspecting the table. The only thing remotely of interest was a face that had been etched into the table leg. At first, he wasn't even sure if this was part of the hunt or not. After all, it did seem like kind of overkill to deface school property, just for the sake of a scavenger hunt. However, he then remembered where he was. In a school with enchanted paintings, talking doors, and trick steps, it probably would not be too big a deal to just magic it away after the hunt was over. After all, it did seem like a big coincidence that the drawing was of a considerably creepy face during a halloween hunt.

Deciding that the face was in fact a clue, the Ravenclaw sought to figure out what it could mean. It was (technically) a piece of art, could that be a clue to search the paintings? People also carve faces into pumpkins, should he look at the pumpkin pile? The face was carved in wood, should he search the trunk, other table, or bookcase? Really, all he could figure out from the face was that he probably should not search the ghosts or rug.

He was shaken out of his thoughts when another Ravenclaw, judging by her robes, approached the table he'd been inspecting. She quickly wished him luck and then started inspecting the table he'd just finished looking at. "Yeah, you too!" he quickly replied, before going back to wondering where to search. Bookshelf, pumpkin patch, or painting? he wondered quietly to himself. He still didn't really feel like going into the dark part of the room, more now because he was worried about not being able to see as many details than because he was scared there might be something spooky there. He'd seen earlier that two people had already inspected the pumpkin patch, meaning there was less likely to be something still hidden there than in the other two potential hiding places. So, it really came down to which subject he was more interested in, art or reading. The answer was quite obvious to the young Ravenclaw as he made his way over to the collection of some of his favorite objects in the world.

[font= Spectral]The pumpkins turned out to be-
quite uninteresting really.
All she had figured out was that there were fourteen... so yeah. Great help. Fourteen didn't seem very magical at all and much less like a clue. Maybe just mere coincidence?

The boy who was also searching in the pumpkins didn't seem to have much luck either.

Or did he? She wasn't paying attention to him. For all she knew, he was just another sneaky Slytherin. She was starting to debate whether to team up with him or not but it seemed as if he had already decided to pair up with a Ravenclaw who seemingly everyone was swarming around. Oh well, for all she cared he could slither with the smart girl, not like she needed a partner. She could do this on her own.

As the Ravenclaw left the paintings Aurelia took her place. What could these represent? Then she attempted to lift them to see if there was maybe a clue behind. Or was that a too obvious hiding spot? Annoyingly slowly she inspected each of the paintings and carefully placed them back on the wall. She also tried to talk to them. This was a big magical castle after all.

The participants continued their searches. Everyone decided to explore a new part of the room this time; was that a good strategy, or would giving each area a closer look prove worthwhile? Bridget supposed only time would tell. There was one notable difference between right now and a few minutes ago, though: everyone was talking to each other. And not just mindless chit-chat either; it sounded like two of them were forming an alliance. A tall Ravenclaw girl asked if such a thing was allowed, the question directed at Katrina, Bridget, and Alan. Bridget would be the one to answer. "Teaming up is perfectly acceptable. Just know that while you might be looking for things together, you'll have to figure out how to split whatever treats you find." Since most areas only held one or two candies, it would be interesting to see whether an alliance would help them find more candy or cause a disagreement over who got to keep what.
Sector A2:
While Miranda, satisfied with her discovery of a piece of candy, left the bookshelves to investigate some other part of the room, the bookshelves wouldn't be abandoned for long. Robert, in true Ravenclaw fashion, decided to check out the books. Beyond simply the appeal of books, it was a good idea; considering this was a scavenger hunt, there were plenty of ways books could be used as clues. Robert would examine the titles for any sort of hint or pattern they provided, and he would find one; from the top left-most book to the one on the very bottom and furthest right, the first letter in each title combined to spell 'check under the rug'. It wasn't candy, but the clue could certainly prove quite useful.
Sector A4:
Aurelia seemed to be onto something in her thought process for approaching the paintings; Hogwarts paintings tended to move and talk, so maybe they had some useful information for her. The painting could indeed talk, although what it said wasn't very helpful. "What are you looking at?" Would it be worth trying to get the painting to give her a hint, or was it simply in too nasty of a mood to be of any help?
Sector C1:
Henry Knight would be the first to brave the shadowed corner of the room. It certainly didn't look too inviting; you could hardly be expected to see anything useful in such terrible lighting, and considering it was Halloween, it seemed the perfect section for a nice jump-scare. Henry, however, had a solution to this. It hardly came as a surprise to Bridget when her duelling teammate whipped out his wand and incanted, "Lumos!" The spell went off without a hitch and it would no longer be so hard to see in the top right corner of the room.
Sector C3:
Heather would take over Robert's inspection of the small table. Unlike Robert, she would find something a little more useful than vandalized school property. Perhaps her height did indeed provide her with an advantage as she would peer down into a rather beat up lamp and find a nice piece of candy.
Sector C4:
This was a Halloween scavenger hunt, so ignoring the ghosts simply wouldn't be right. Miranda perhaps thought something similar as she approached the white sheets. Pushing aside the fabric, she would discover a small plastic cauldron filled with not one but two pieces of candy. The Ravenclaw certainly seemed to be having luck finding the treats so far.
Conclusion:
The participants seemed to be having a bit more luck finding treats. Miranda, at any rate, seemed to have excellent observation skills. She nodded in approval at Henry's Wand-Lighting Spell; it was a smart move, and while this was hardly the battle of wits that duelling was, it would still be to his benefit. And considering there were clues scattered around the room among the tricks and treats, maybe the participants who hadn't yet found any candy were now on its trail.
Candy Count:
Miranda: 3
Henry: 0
Aurelia: 0
Heather: 1

Henry smiled when Heather agreed but couldn't say more since she asked if they were allowed and to his surprised the moderator that answered was a fellow dueler on the slytherin dueling team. Henry smiled to her before turning back to Heather and saying " it looks like were allowed, so what do you say partner?" Henry gave a joking smile at the word partner to Heather before continuing " anyway I'm not a big sweet person so you can have most of the treats, I'm mainly just interested in finding the most and what better way than to team up with a ravenclaw," Henry smiled at his friend before continuing in show what a low whisper " I haven't found anything yet, what about you?"

Although to his delight, the spell worked and the tip of his wand lit up giving off a glow which made it a lot easier to see and hopefully find some sweets. Henry noticed an girl staring at him, he thought she looked familiar but couldn't tell so just ignored her as he spoke to Heather " I'll search over here," with that Henry wandered deeper into the area as he looked for any space that could hide a treat. Henry looked from the trunk to the long table and decided to check the long table first as he thought of checking underneath but first wanted to check on top as he shined his wand above the table in search of a treat.

Per usual, Katrina was ecstatic about the hunt. Especially since this time she had both Bridget and Alan to help her set everything up. They had been able to create a much more engaging hunt with both Tricks and Treats for a Halloween twist. In addition, Katrina had convinced Professor Jensen, the Slytherin Head of House to oversee the event so they didn't get in any trouble for using spells.

Katrina introduced everyone to the event and set them off to start finding things. This was a much chattier group of students, making alliances and getting to know one another. One girl, Miranda if Katrina had it right, had already found 3 Treats. Nothing too spooky had been found yet, but Katrina still had hope.

The Third-Year rested against the wall and gave away no secrets. She would leave the finding to her fellow hunters. It seemed this hunt would be even more of a success than the last one. Now she just needed to start planning for the next hunt, hard to find an idea to top this one, but she was sure she could manage.

With nothing more to do, Katrina would sit back and watch her members get to work.

Miranda grinned in triumph as she once again discovered more candy, this time hidden in a plastic cauldron within the folds of the fabric covering the ghosts. She took the piece, tucking it into her pocket with the other one she'd found near the bookshelf. But just as she was about to turn around, the Ravenclaw spotted a second flash of color she'd missed in her quick grab. It would seem that luck was on her side, because only a moment later she'd added a third treat to her collection. So far, her hunt was going much better than she'd hoped. Three candies already, and she'd only searched two different items. Hopefully her lucky streak would keep up.

She glanced around the room, wondering how well everyone else was doing. Surely she wasn't the only one finding things. Her corner of the room didn't let her see much, but Heather was near enough that Miranda caught sight of her taking something from a lamp hanging over a nearby table. Whether it was candy or not however, she didn't know.

"Any luck, Heather?" she called, curious as to what exactly the other girl had found. Also, it felt weird to be surrounded by so many people and not actually speaking to any of them.

Whether or not the other Ravenclaw answered, Miranda would soon move on to another area, this time a large stack of pumpkins that portrayed the Halloween Spirit quite well, just like the ghosts did. Maybe that was a clue that it also hid more candy?
