2020, Stage 1 Group C: Hufflepuff vs Slytherin

Both terrified and exhilarated, Alexa stepped up onto the dueling platform at her side. Being partnered with Alina made her feel very comfortable: she knew the other girl was a perfectionist when it came to casting spells, and Alexa herself had worked tirelessly even before becoming a dueling team member on her own spell craft. She was ready.

She turned to face her opponents. Her heart in her throat, she raised her wand as she prepared to cast her first spell of the duel.

He walked upwards to the dueling platform. The long sleeves of his Hogwarts school robes rolled up revealing So that they might not prove to be too cumbersome in the duel. He would personally have preferred a different outfit for dueling, one that did not sacrifice as much mobility, but he had the time to commission such an outfit yet. Until then this would have to do.

Other than that he would have his loose hair organized into a small pony tail, going to about the top of his neck. He was calm and had a cold, almost blank look on his face. Whilst his wand was in his right hand. There was a soft breathing but that was all that could outwardly be seen. Though on the inside there was the rapid beating of his heart. As he felt adreanaline coursing through his body and excitement starting to rise. He could personally not deny that he enjoyed duels and combats like this. The feeling of adrenaline coursing through him, it made him feel alive. Which was something that few things did these days.

He sent a brief glance towards the spectator stands, getting a soft smile on his face for a moment as he saw an albino girl was watching the match. One which quickly returned to the cold/blank look focused at his opponents. He had met Rosier once before, but not the other. Alexa, as he thought about the name a momentary cocky grin appeared on his face before disappearing as well. For a moment he pondered whether he should call out 'there could only be one', but he was not that immature.

He could engage in some pre-battle jabbing and psychological warfare, but it was not his expertise and he would probably embarrass himself so he opted out of it.

He then looked at his side to Ileen, the brown-haired girl he had only met once before during the summer trip with Aida. He supposed that made them friends in some sort of way ? He did not know, and neither did he know if she would be reliable. She certainly seemed to be so during pre-battle planning but he had seen enough Slytherins opting out in the fight club to realize that they were not well-suited to combat. Though he supposed that she had volunteered for this and this was willing, rather than an illegal fight club.

Realizing his mind was wandering, Alex took a deep breath and readied his wand for quick spell movement. Ready to lash out at once when the sign was given.

Ileen closed her eyes and slowly inhaled three times before she followed her teammate to the dueling platform. She was way less nervous than she had expected, just the right amount of adrenalin to keep her alerted and focused.
The young Slytherin hat tied her long brown hair into a high ponytail to keep it from her eyes. She would not allow any external influences to get in her way or to distract her. No. She had worked hard to be perfectly prepared for that day and now she was ready to give everything she got.

As she stepped next to Alexander she briefly glanced at the spectators and caught Aidas gaze. A slight smile appeared on Ileen’s lips and she gave the Ravenclaw girl a hardly noticeable nod before focusing again. It meant a lot to her that the pale girl, her fellow knight, was watching. Now she would try even harder to not betray their knights honor.

The smile was still on her lips as she seized up their opponents. She had never talked to any of them, but it wouldn’t make much of a difference anyway. This was nothing personal, it was a sport, a way to get practice, just in case.
Ileen’s brown eyes sparkled as she tried to catch Alexander’s gaze. She had only met him once before she had joined the dueling team. They had spent some time on Aida’s trip together and besides he was one of her friends' person of trust, she respected him - a fact that made him a rare person among the Slytherins. Her smile deepend. “Ready when you are.”
Looking back at the two Hufflepuff girls she raised her wand, ready to get started.

Dueling Club. It was something that caught her interest because while she was a social girl, she hadn’t really been involved in any of the clubs and organizations at the school. And while she was the daughter of a former Slytherin quidditch player, brooms weren’t really her thing. It seemed maybe there wasn’t a place for her - until Dueling Club.

She had her hair pulled back and up in a high ponytail so that it would be out of her face and she could be aware of all her surroundings; part of that evasive maneuvers abilities. She also sized up her opponents and remembered the boy from her first year, meeting him briefly. Alina had left sorry for him, as he didn’t seem to know how to have fun but she hoped maybe he’d find some enjoyment in dueling. The girl, she didn’t know.

Alina looked over to Alexa though with a bright smile. Glad to be teamed up with one of her best friends she knew they were a good match. When the moderator said to begin. She lifted her wand and took immediate action.

The spells were shot amazingly fast — both teams seemed to be prepared for a rough start. A couple of flipendos here and there and a few support spells were shot. Alina went straight against Alexander, hitting him hard with a Knockback Jinx. There was a fierce badger warrior behind the pretty face of hers. Her ally, Alexa, tried hard to evade all the spells sent her way. She even managed to send Ileen into a wild dance of polka, but was eventually hit by both — a knockback (from Alexander) polished by a sweet disarming (from Ileen), which sent her wand few meters away. Go search for it, girl, you'll need it!

Alina did not like to see how both of the Slytherins teamed up against Alexa. Typical of the snakes. She narrowed her eyes but was determined to keep her focus and not let her frustration get to her. "I'll cover you, go find your wand! We've got this!" she said to her fellow Hufflepuff and stepped in front of her. She knew very well that this meant their opponents would now be teaming up for her next so she presented her wand and casted her next move quickly.

”Expelliarmus!” Ileen was only fast enough to cast her own attack before she had to dodge the counter from the Hufflepuff girl. With some satisfaction she saw her own spell hit and the wand tore out of Alexa's hand. The last tips from Bridget during their joint practice lesson had probably put the finishing touches here.
But she didn't have time to rejoice for very long, because almost at the same moment she was also hit by an attack and her feet started to dance uncontrolled polka. She fought it with clenched teeth, but without success. Crap. Well, it would have to go like this. Worried, she looked around for her team partner, who had been hit by a harder spell. “Are you alright, Alexander?” But she also knew that they were not allowed to spend long licking their wounds. The young Slytherin did her best to give them a short time and lifted her wand despite her dancing feet.

"Tarantallegra!" Alexa shouted, pointing her wand at the Slytherin girl across from her. The spell zoom forward and found its mark, but another spell, cast by the boy, hit Alexa in the chest and sent her flying backwards! Landing heavily on her back, her breath whooshed out of her lungs, and for a moment she couldn't breathe. But she didn't have time for that. Rolling over, she scrambled around and, on all fours, pointed her wand at the boy. She opened her mouth to say a spell, when the girl shouted something she didn't recognize, and suddenly Alexa's wand was flying out of her hand onto the floor somewhere! She gasped, and Alina said she would cover her while she looked, so Alexa scrambled off the platform and began searching furiously for her missing wand.

He felt a brief flash of satisfaction as he saw how the red-haird Hufflepuf got hit by his Flipendo spell.
He was far less satisfied when he felt as if he was punched hard in the stomach and took in a sharp intake of breath. Now that was certainly going to leave a bruise, or was if healing magic wasn’t a thing.

Then he heard Ileen ask him a question and he raised an elbow at her dancing, before quickly realizing it must have been the dancing feet spell. As a response to he question he gave a thumbs up, not wanting to waste time and immediately after continued with the plan.
