Broom Race
"A first here at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, an interschool race between Durmstrang, Beauxbatons, ilvermorny and Hogwarts!" There was a cheering crowd that erupted in shouts and applause as the students made their way to the starting line. The announcer was a middle-aged gentleman with salt and pepper hair and a gem-colored robe with a long billowing cloak that flapped behind him. His voice amplified with the Sonorusm his charming American accent could be heard throughout the grounds. "I am your announcer, Lazarus Plott. Many, well all of you have most certainly heard of me," his ego as ripe as ever. "And I am elated to enhance this competition with my dialogue," he rode his broom upward. The winds were hard, as they often were at this time of year. His cape spread like a sail behind him as he addressed the crowd from above.
"I am going to iterate the rules of racing once again for those that are unfamiliar with this unforgiving sport." The chatter of the crowd never died down, but the sonorus charm allowed his voice to carry over the clamor. "The objective of the race is to get to the end," an obvious statement but there was always something more to it than just that. "First IF multiple make it to the end," the operative word being if. It was uncommon for multiple racers to make it to the end. While there were some rules, the basic expectation that nobody would be murdered. That certain spells deemed "too dangerous" would not be used. The actual race itself, high speeds on the shaft of a broom through wooded areas, residential zones and sometimes facing varied threats such as Whomping Willows or even dangerous creatures that are not only unpredictable but also aggressive.
"While the goal is always to get there yourself for the sake of honor and glory, being the first... or in some cases the last," yes it was that dangerous and that was why there were mediwitches on standby. "The goal is for your house, or in this case school to win. Look at your housemates. Look at your schoolmates. Victory is not only yours, but also your schoolmates." Indeed, there was an incentive to protect your own. To work together. For there to potentially be a leader among the pack.
"Everyone on their mark." A look of determination would flash over Headmaster Plot's eyes. "Get set," he lifted the tip of his wand skyward. "GO!" As he shouted the final word, a blast of crimson light would shoot from the tip of his wand like a red rocket and burst into the sky. That was the signal to GO.

Broom Race
The announcer guy finally started talking, though Yefim was glad that Mik decided to join him at his side. He gave him a huge grin, the kind that came from pure excitement and wanting to share it. He added in a thumbs up for good measure, assuring him that they had this in the bag, since that was the unequivocal truth. There were no teams any more, just individuals with either grace or malice. A goal to reach, obstacles to be surmounted. They were all going to be easy, and certainly the goal line would be full of Durmstrang students, leaving all the dainty Americans and Frenchies in the tree branches. He could tell by looking at Mik's face that he felt much the same, that wasn't something either of them had ever quarreled about, they both knew Durmstrang was the best school on the planet, and raised the best students. There was no room for failure.
The second that the announcer dude said go, Yefim was moving. Fast. His broom wasn't shiny, slick, or fancy, but it was as fast as he needed it to be. He would be throwing all caution to the wind, because of course he would, and try to set a precedent by barreling ahead as fast as his broom could possibly go. Besides wanting to keep an eye on his buddy, he wouldn't be looking around at the competition. He was elated to finally put that pent up energy into becoming a human bullet. He wasn't worried about stupid obstructions, he would just masterfully fly through them of course.

Charles mounted his broom as he tried not to pay much attention to the other's much nicer brooms, however he got pulled back by a boy's comment about being ready to die. By the looks at him, he seemed to be a Hogwarts student which was technically the only school Charles wanted to see lose and not just lose. Charles shot the boy a half smile as he shouted toward him " only ones dying today is you Hogwarts students who will get slaughter in the race, I'll make sure of it," Charles then placed his feet on the ground and was ready to push up as a man named Plott gave the usual rules and stuff that Charles heard before numerous times so instead the boy decided to look around at his competition.
Seeing the Hogwarts student he bumped into making a comment but ignoring it as he never cared about side comments about himself before before shouting to Enzo in french " see you at the end Enzo," Charles then shot the boy what looked like a friendly and joking smile which was out of character for him as he spoke again " don't die up their Enzo, I wouldn't perfer to have fire whiskey alone during the Dumstrang win today," Although there was something in the boy's
back of his mind telling him to help Enzo if he needs it even though they were in different schools, confused Charles then heard the French of another boy who appeared small and skinny according to Charles who doubted the others skills and not liking his skills to be offended, Charles shot the boy a half smile as he shouted to him in French " maybe speaks in a language where the competition can't understand," Charles shot another half smile at the boy before continuing " Dumstrang experience is also far greater than the yours shorty, maybe focus on yourself rather than think you know your competition which you don't frenchie."
Charles then pushed off the ground and started flying away from the boy before he could reply to the Dumstrang. As Charles leaned down on his broom and position himself low on the broom to give him more speed he decided to shoot mostly to agitated the others " Hogwarts will be slaughtered," Charles then spoke to himself in low Russian " focus on what's in front, never look behind only forward," taking a breath he continued " eyes ahead, back straight, grip not that tight, relax and breath," Charles looked in front as he sped up in the race and was planning to win but also occasionally cutting in front of the fellow racer to annoy them.

Florian wasn't expecting any of the other non-Beauxbaton students to speak French and he was a bit taken aback by the Durmstrang student who could. 'I guess when you are a guy as flirty as that... you simply have to speak everything...' he thought, remembering the events of the prior day. Well, no matter, it's not like he told their team anything others didn't already know. Beauxbaton simply was the best at broom racing, no doubt about that. They just had to prove it now.
Florian waited expectantly for the telltale sign for the race to begin and he quickly sped off as he heard the "GO!" escape from the American's lips. He absolutely loved the feel of the wind through his hair and he gripped his wimpy school broom tightly, hoping its lack of speed wouldn't betray him.

There might've been someone waiting for Nick in the stands, but the stands were starting to get rowdy so he couldn't tell. Instead, he heard a boy with a thick accent say something to him. He turned to see it was the boy who had bumped into two of his fellow Hogwarts students, seeming to hail from Drumstrang. "Heh, we'll see." Nick said simply, not wanting to tick off the slightly scary boy.Mentions: @Henry Knight (Charles Alluring) & @Aurelia Notrésvace
Then they were off and Nick quickly brought his broom to a fast speed as he approached the forest. He looked back at Aurelia, the girl who he had seen die and had given this awesome broom. He knew he had to have her back this race, it's the least he could do. For once, he'd try to be a good guy and help a fellow Hogwarts student if she needed it. For now, there was some forest up ahead, and it looked dark. Not wanting to take a chance he calmly took out his wand. He was going pretty fast so, not wanting to chance anything, Nick made a little loop with his wand and stated, "Lumos!"

Interacting with @Thora Larkston [Karilyna Kawahara] and @Opeila Winters [Theodore Duncain]
Phyllis was hovering comfortably in midair, mostly ignoring her competitors. There was something about being on a broom that calmed her giddiness and helped her focus. Hearing her name yelled over the wind, she turned to find Karilyna cheering her on. Lifting a hand into the air, she waved back with just as much enthusiasm.
Stuff was happening, starting. And... Merlin, no. Why was Plott the announcer? She thought back to him throwing glitter on her and wrinkled her nose. Couldn't they have picked someone--anyone--less annoying? Oh well. Soon enough she'd be far enough away she wouldn't be able to hear him anyways. Instead of feeling a little more nervous at his emphasis on how dangerous this sport was, she felt a rush of adrenaline. This was going to be awesome.
With the jet of red light shooting from his wand (wow, he was competent enough to cast spells), they were off. As much as she would've liked to, Phyllis didn't shoot off as fast as her broom could go. She loved the thrill of going super fast, but somehow she'd figured out that maybe wasn't the best strategy, and besides, Theo was on some rickety, pathetic old school broom. There was no way she was going to leave her friend and teammate in the dust like that. They were going to win this together.

The girl was unimpressed by Alexei's charms, which he shrugged off as he began. He began at his maximum speed, seeing as it was better to get and maintain a lead than be worried about coming back from behind. The pretty girl he had flirted with seemed like a threat, and while romance was important to him, doing his school proud was more so. He pulled out his wand and shot off a spell.

A ghost whisper of good luck from fair Lucas- the knot of tension curled tight within his mind's eye loosened ever so lightly at the well-wishing and in any other situation perhaps Johann would have done the same, but the race was soon to begin and the Dragamior second-in-line had already departed for their own broom. Mounting his own broom, Johann kept an easy hover at the starting line, staring intently down at the self-satisfied announcer outlining the rules towards the hyped watchers and readied racers.
Jeez, they sounded like such a prick- he hadn't seen this 'Lazarus Plott' type of guy like ever in his life but they sounded like a Marvel movie villain more than a headmaster. He was all one for dramatics- that cape swing was immaculate- but this was a very tense moment. If he'd have to assume, Plott would be one of those trash villains who monologued more than they did the deeds they described. 3/10 Johannes would simultaneously avoid them out of sheer mercy towards himself and take great fun messing with them if only to take them down a notch.
Didn't matter anyway. As 'DC Universe's pit of Frankensteining' wrapped up his brief speech about things that Johann had already been warned about plus an extra dash of 'what if', the intense feeling of surrealness surrounded him once more. The sky overhead was overcast and the wind chilled, looking paper blank and impossibly big. The race track was up ahead. His grip upon his wand and broom handle tightened as a chill ran through him, whether from the weather or the nerves it wasn't clear. Not for the first time today he was glad for his jacket- a stolen one, pilfered from one of his Hellhound's trunks. It was warm, it was familiar.
Pointedly staring away from the spectator crowds watching from the safety of their seating area- after all, he knew near no one there anyways and refused to be discouraged by those sitting who happened to know him- he stared down Plott-of-land darkly with anticipation. A countdown. The flash of red.
Now, now, now- Takeoff.
