After the mini heart attack Earl had gotten upon receiving the letter, and several days of begging his old man for a ride and some cash, he'd finally gotten his school supplies. It had taken a long time, as Mr. Gray refused to help him in the least bit, having crossed his arms as soon as they'd Appeared, and announced he'd be in the pub, if Earl needed him. Which wasn't much help, considering Earl had no idea where the pub actually was, how to spend wizarding money, or where to purchase his supplies.

He's spent the better part of the day getting directions and writing them down on his arms with a ballpoint pen he'd found in his jacket's pocket, having not had the presence of mind to bring a piece of paper. The letter with his supply list was in the back pocket of his white jeans, but he couldn't even bear the thought of writing on THAT. It was his first piece of the wizarding world, after all. Several hours later, and he was busy holding on to a floating cauldron filled with textbooks, and clothing. The nice man at the wand store had made it float for him, and then tied a string to the handle, allowing him to pull it down the street the way a child would pull a balloon behind them.

Speaking of the wand store, the minute Earl had seen his wand, he'd fallen in love with it. Slim and silver with a unicorn hair core, it matched him perfectly. The wand had seemed to agree, because he couldn't put it down, comforting warmth and the shower of silver and pink sparks which had come from the tip when he'd first touched it, keeping him from letting go. Now, he was humming as he walked to the bar, a gorgeous smile on his face, humming some song or other underneath his breath,

The moment he found the pub, lights shining from the dirty windows, peaks of pointed hats visible wherever you looked, Earl let out a relieved breath he hadn't known he'd been holding, walking in. And finding himself surrounded by people. His father was by the bar counter, busy downing a pint of beer, the silver spectacles peaking from the pocket of his expensive dress coat. After a moment's hesitation, Earl pushed his way through the crowd, muttering apologies left and right, face pink from embarrassment. "Are you okay?" he asked a man who was lying underneath the table with a flask of whiskey, shot glasses surrounding him. The man gave him a thumbs up, breaking out in song about...cabbages and someone's mother? Shaking his head, Earl walked the few paces which separated him from his father. "Dad can we go home?" he asked quietly, pulling at his sleeve.

"Sure. Took you long enough. What in the world did you need four hours for?"

"Well it's not my fault you left me alon-"

"Good heavens, is that Albert LeDoux?" A small sigh escaped him. Yep. He'd be in the pub for much, much longer.

Emile LeDoux was ecstatic. He had long dreamed of the day he would finally get to go get his own supplies. Although it wasn't for Hogwarts. no for him it was for Beauxbaton. The french magic school. Emile had always dreamed of going there. Every other wizard he had ever ran into was interested in Hogwarts. Hogwarts this, Hogwarts that. But not him. No. He couldn't wait to go to the French school. Even his father was a Hogwarts graduate. But his mother had gone to Beauxbaton and Emile had forever dreamed of going there.

After waking up too early for anyone in their right minds and then carefully writing out a few letters to Family members about the happy news, Emile had awoken his poor father and drug him to the kitchen to eat. The two left early but didn't arrive for a while because Albert insisted on taking the longest way, just so they could get there when the pub opens. It was too early for the poor guy and his wife was away on a trip.

The two wandered Diagon Alley, collecting all of Emile's supplies before finally returning to the pub. Emile was toting along a cauldron that had a lightening spell on it, courtesy of his father. Albert had promised one beer. one beer and that was it. But unfortunately there appeared to be an old friend here. Emile groaned as Al responded to Mr. Gray's words and quickly slid into a chair next to him.

Instead of sticking around to hear, what would probably be, a long boring conversation, Emile turned to look for a seat of his own. Luckily he had packed a book about Veela's just in case this happened. Always come prepared right? But he stopped when he spotted the cutest Pink-haired boy ever. Emile's heart leapt in his chest. Whoa he was cute.

The boy looked exasperated at Mr. Gray. 'His father?', Emile mulled. The boy was only about an inch shorter than Emile, the LeDoux's having all been short, with pale skin like snow, bright pink hair, and grey eyes. His eyes reminded Emile of a thundercloud, just about to let out a strike of lightning and some summer rain.

Emile would've said something but he was shy. Really shy. His second Cousin, Liz, always berated him to be more out there. But her words sailed right into one ear and out the other. Emile would much rather focus on school and books and magical creatures. He had been starting to research spell-making so that he could make his room always smell like the ocean. So instead of saying hello like a normal person, Emile just stared with big brown eyes.

After a second's incredulous hesitation, Earl let out a small, exhausted sight. Typical. Mr. Gray fought like hell to stay away from the wizarding community, but as soon as one of his old palls popped up 'magic is bad' was suddenly forgotten.

Shaking his head, Earl 'Sorry'd and 'Excuse me'd his way to a couch which was relatively clean, the only dubious thing being a questionable looking stain. His cauldron had floated gracefully over the heads of wizards, making quite a few of them chuckle, and causing a particularly stoned looking half giant to hide behind his much skinnier, much smaller friend and scream 'Get it away, get it away, get it away!'

A few minutes passed, in which Earl had pulled out a book from somewhere; the turquoise feather he'd been using as a bookmark was sticking out from his pink hair where he'd put it absentmindedly. Every now and then, his gray eyes would flit to where Mr. Gray and Mr. LeDoux were sitting. And then he noticed him. And his heart stopped. A flush lit his freckled cheeks a light pink as he ducked behind his book, the only thing visible being the tips of his cotton candy hair. Wow. Okay. Suddenly, it became a lot harder to focus on the black and white writing right in front of his eyes.

What...how...? Huh?? Wow.
He dared another peak, willing the blush to die down desperately. It didn't. Of course it didn't. Why would it? Earl's heart was beating right out of his chest, and he could feel a fit of nervous giggles coming by. Oh boy.

Six minutes passed (he'd counted), until he was able to get himself under control enough to lower the book. He was far enough across the bar from the boy that his laughter wouldn't have been heard. His skin had by then turned back to its porcelain white. There was only one difference. Earl wouldn't be finding out exactly what Edward had been doing outside of Bella's window, and why in the world she wasn't weirded out by that. It would have taken a miracle and a half for him to focus on the book again.

Waving the tips of his fingers at the boy, Earl set the book down, slipping his index finger between the pages. His bookmark had gone God knows where. "You with him?" he mouthed, nodding towards Mr. LeDoux with a smile. Motioning the other boy over, Earl prayed to anyone who was listening for a shred of composure and dignity. Perhaps this would be a good time to remind everyone what Earl looked like, at that particular moment. Legs tucked underneath himself and book on his lap, a feather poking from between the mess of pink spikes and curls, light painting his skin in shades of silver and gold, a smile lighting his gray eye. The hint of eyeliner could be seen underneath his eyes, something his dad would have been furious if he ever noticed. Designer clothes, his body lying on the couch gracefully, the picture of comfort despite his surroundings. In one sentence, he was nearly inhumanly beautiful, and he knew it.

"Hi!" he beamed at the boy. "I'm Earl."

Gray eyes met brown ones, causing Emile to shiver. He stared at the other male, book still in his hand. The boy appeared startled at something and hid behind his book, making Emile scrunch up his nose in amusement. The boy looked so graceful, laying on the sofa. Emile knew he probably looked terrible compared to the other boy.

Emile didn't put a ton of effort into his looks. Today especially. He had just wanted to get out of the house. His trail of thought was broken by the beautiful boy motioning towards their fathers and mouthing "You with him?" Huh? Oh! His dad. Emile nodded slightly, a small smile appearing on his lips. He finally remembered the book in his hand and pulled it up to his chest. He looked at the cover, all of it in Veela.

Despite his self-worthlessness, Emile did look fairly good today. Brown hair was slightly gelled up and fell in one big curl into his face. He had a few larger moles littering his face, smaller ones squeezing in between. His skin was pale, but not porcelain like the other boys and his lashes were unusually long. He also wore designer clothes, not really picking them out on purpose, it was just what was laying around. The only special thing about him was a gold chain around his neck that held a small locket. Inside of the locket a picture of his Mother and Father was placed.

After he put his book back into his cauldron he looked back at the male. He was mesmerized by his pink hair. He self-consciously brought a hand up to his boring brown hair and continued to stare. Then the boy motioned for him to come closer. Emile nearly tripped over himself moving over there. The boy introduced himself. 'Earl...' Hearts basically erupted over Emile's head. That smile too.

Everything about him was amazing.

"Oh! I'm Emile! Hello!"The taller male cursed his accent. It wasn't extremely thick, but you could definitely tell he was from France. He cleared his throat after his pause. "Is that your father talking to mine? Did he also go to Hogwarts like my father? They seem to be good buddies. I wish they would stop talking though. Dad swore ONE beer and now here he is talking to some stranger. It's quiet infuriating."

Emile felt like he needed to put on the best display of English. English had been one of the hardest languages he'd learned, second only to Veela. There were so many little rules that you had to follow and they didn't have feminine and masculine words like French. It was all very confusing to him. But he had finally mastered it and could speak like a natural speaker. At least he thought he could.

Emile was scared to sit next to the boy but new that it would be awkward if he just continued to stand around and talk. So he sat. He placed his cauldron on the ground in front of the couch and looked at the boys book. A low soft giggle escaped him. "Twilight ay?" he asked, holding back more giggles. God he had forgotten how much Twilight amused him. He had read the books recently after him mother forced him to take a break from academic books.

Bella cracked him up. Taylor Lautner was hot in the movies though.

“Emile,” Earl said, the name sliding off his tongue. It sounded like music. A finely composed piece, which people from all over the world came to listen to, crowding on the benches of a royal conservatory. “That’s a pretty name.” His eyes followed the lines of Emile’s face, taking in every fine detail with a smile. Gosh, this boy was beautiful. There was a certain air about him, which made Earl’s heart beat wildly in his chest. If one looked very, very carefully, they would have noticed our small boy had forgotten to breathe, the way he often did when faced with something particularly lovely.

A smile fluttered across his lips as thin fingers tucked a strand of pink hair behind his ear. “Yeah. I had to drag him over here, and now he doesn’t want to leave.” Even the way the stranger spoke sounded like music, strange vowels bouncing off his tongue, seeming that much more elegant and distinguished. If Earl looked like he’d been ripped out of a black and white photograph, this boy instead seemed full of life, of class. As if an artist had captured him within the frame of a painting, and he’d gotten bored and popped off the canvas, out in the world to charm people with his laughter and easy grace.

For the first time, our young kid noticed the other boy’s outfit. Expensive, good looking clothes. And he was willing to bet he knew who’d made them, the designer being someone whose work he’d followed for years. “You look good,” he blurted out. He didn’t realize his mistake, being used to speaking what he thought without a filter. And just as suddenly as he’d moved on to the topic, he moved away.

“Yeah, I think they were friends,” Earl mused, turning away from the boy to look at their parents. Mr. Gray was sitting on the bar stool, straight backed with his elbows tucked in, the picture of class and wisdom even while surrounded by drunken men, the stench of booze, and raucous laugher. “My dad left the school behind as soon as he could…I don’t think he liked it there very much.” That might have been the understatement of the year, considering how many speeches Earl had been forced to endure over the years, all revolving around one thing: the wickedness of wizards.

He was broken away from his thoughts by the boy’s laughter, directed towards the book. Earl flushed a bright pink, attempting to stuff it between his leg and the armrest of the couch, blocking it from view. What a great first impression, honestly. “I’m not…I mean…uh.” He bit his lip, looking away as embarrassment seemed to colour the air around him. The books got so much hate. There were so many people who believed they should have been used as kindling and nothing more. “I don’t…they’re not, I mean they’re not b…” he seriously had nothing intelligent to say in his defense. He thought they were quite good, if he were to be honest. They portrayed depression really well, and all the people in there were described as ridiculously hot… He might have been crushing a bit on the werewolf, but no one was going to talk about that or he’d die.

“So you’re French?” he tried, desperately hoping to distract the young man from his reading selection. “Je parle couramment français. Mon père m'a fait apprendre. Apparemment, les messieurs parlent plus d'une langue.” (I speak French fluently, my father made me learn it. Apparently gentlemen speak more than one language)

The other boy seemed so nervous. Emile had no idea what could possibly be making him nervous. Certainly it wasn't because of himself. Nobody was nervous around Emile. He was kind looking and round faced and quiet. Not exactly intimidating. Earl also seemed all over the place. He hopped from one topic to the next. Almost too quickly that Emile couldn't keep up.

First it was a comment on how pretty his name was. Blush immediately lit up his face but the boy moved onto talking about their fathers too quickly that Emile didn't get a chance to comment on him or thank him. He looked back over at their fathers, flicking his eyes between the two. They seemed to have known each other well since Emile's father was like Emile. Quiet and reserved, sticking to his books and work. Albert looked quiet laid back and was just as well dressed as Emile. The two's facial features even looked the same, except for Albert's shockingly blonde hair, a staple of the Le Doux family, along with the big chocolate eyes.

He was quickly drawn back to the pink-haired boy when he called him good-looking. Emile choked. He let out a series of loud coughs as he tried to clear the saliva that went down the wrong pipe. When the coughing had subsided to small wheezes here or there Emile finally looked up. His eyes were impossibly wider than they had been.

"Sorry- what? I uh- oh. You are cute too." He blinked at his word choice, like even he didn't expect the word CUTE to come out of his mouth. His face was even redder. His hand quickly covered his mouth to stop from anything else coming out of it. He huffed to himself and was glad of the change in subject. He could get back to teasing the male about his book choices. That was until the made spoke to him in perfectly good French. Yes it was accented, but it was still like music to Emile's ears.

"Tu parles aussi français ? C'est tellement génial ! Je veux dire que c'est tellement plus facile pour moi de parler en français. Oh. Je connais un tas de langues. Pas seulement l'anglais et le français. Je connais l'allemand, un peu d'irlandais, et la véline aussi ! Ma famille vient de France et je vais à Beauxbatons cette année. Tu vas à Hogwarts comme ton père ?" (You speak French too? That is so awesome! I mean it is so much easier for me to speak in French. Oh. I know a bunch of languages. Not just English and French. I know German, a little bit of Irish, and Veela too! My family is from France and I am going to Beauxbatons this year. Are you going to Hogwarts like your dad?) Emile hadn't realized it, but in his fast spoken and over-excited French he had unintentionally scooted closer to Earl. The other boy was just so COOL! Emile wanted to know everything there was to know about him.
