A Second Chance PV: Henry Knight Finished

"What, pancaked? Well yeah, I tend to pancake a lot." Callie shrugged and offered a simple smile in response. Of course it was a term she particularly adored thanks to her own adventurous nature and inherent clumsiness often getting her into situations where it was fit for use. Plus it had the added benefits of reminding her about the glory of pancakes which could only be a good thing. "It did?" Callie seemed more surprised than anything but quickly tried to suppress her own shock. Henry wasn't exactly a person she'd ever thought of as being Ravenclaw but then again she hadly knew the boy. So it wasn't entirely fair to judge him so harshly, even if she was still undecided if she even liked him to begin with. He was quiet, awkward and often said things that made her angry but at the same time incredibly polite about it, which was perhaps even more infuriating for Callie. How could she dislike someone who was so...polite about everything? Thankfully his apparent tendency to brag about his own capabilities provided more than enough material to justify Callie's mild disliking of the Slytherin boy.

"It's whatever, I promise I'm not as dumb as I look! Or act." Callie defended rather quickly even if her heart wasn't entirely in the statement. She may have had stellar grades across the board but even then Callie had little confidence in her own capabilities. The girl was far too wrapped up in her own head and compared herself to purebloods far too often, even if she knew doing so was completely illogical. Bloodline didn't determine how smart you were, how hard you worked did. This was something Callie was more than aware of but yet she continued to feel less than some purebloods. Not that she'd ever voice that sentiment to someone like Henry though. Only her closest friends got a conversation along those lines. "You've gotta go to the hospital wing stupid! You've got a broken wrist!" Callie huffed and lightly jabbed the bandaged area to prove her point. "Why on earth would you not want to go? Maybe you lost a few braincells on the way down."

"You didn't have to say it, it was implied." Callie pointed out with a mild smile on her face, clearly not at all offended by the statement. She was often regarded as a clumsy idiot who couldn't shut up and didn't find the image anything to be ashamed of. Callie knew she was much more complex than that even if she still had her own insecurities about herself that she kept buried underneath her confident exterior. When Henry brought up the idea of glasses making someone smarter Callie couldn't help but laugh at the utterly ridiculous idea. "Come on, only people with thick heads truly believe that!" Callie exclaimed once she got her laughter under control. "Glasses don't make someone smart, how hard you work does! What matters is up here." Callie tapped her head to emphasise her point further. "Or at least that's what my mum always tells me and I think she's pretty smart."

Callie remained unconvinced at Henry's claims of having all his braincells intact or the fact his arm was completely fine but the boy was clearly very stubborn. Or too stupid to admit he needed help, one of the two. His attempts to change the subject didn't go unnoticed by the surprisingly attentive girl but Callie didn't press the matter any further. She was still quite unsure of the boy and to her his attempts to be nice always seemed to be slightly coated in malice, even if he claimed such things were unintentional. To put it lightly she wasn't entirely sure what she thought of the boy but kept her own reservations about him under wraps. Callie was many things but first and foremost she was polite and cheery, that wasn't going to change anytime soon. However she was also honest and wasn't going to sugar coat things for someone like Henry. "..We did get off on the wrong foot." Callie confirmed rather quickly. "How about we stick to being friendly for now?" She asked with a polite smile. "Friends seems like such a big word for now. I don't mean to be nasty and horrible when I say that its just.." Callie sighed. "Let's just say trust needs to be built up, don't you think?"

"Looks can be decieving, so I don't really buy into that sort of stuff." Callie shrugged quite simply, clearly unconvinced by the claim that glasses made someone look smarter. As far as Callie was concerned glasses were nothing more than a nuiscance she kept breaking time and time again. "Besides, glasses are a pain! I break em' constantly. You don't know how good you've got it!" Callie retorted rather lazily although she did find the story about messing around with his older brother quite heartwarming. Callie did the same thing with her own older brother Adrian, although their antics usually involved significantly more injuries. It's safe to say that children with very little sense of danger coupled with a farm and a sense of adventure isn't a stellar combination. Callie has the scar on her forearm to prove it from an unforunate accident with a piece of equipment during one of her and Adrian's ill advised antics.

Thankfully Callie didn't seem too offended when Callie shot down his attempts at friendship. Even now she wasn't entirely sure how she felt about the boy, sure he could be quite nice but he also held a capacity for being extremely annoying. At one point Callie even likened him to the human equivelent of a dirty sock. "...Sure!" Callie eventually piped up even if she was a little reluctant. Might as well give him a chance, right? "Not tonight though..I promised Phel I'd study with him! I kind of took some of his breakfast when he wasn't looking so I owe him. How about tomorrow? I should be free then! If that transfiguration homework doesn't mess with my head again.." Callie offered with a small smile. "I should probably get going though if I want to get to Phel in time though..he really doesn't like being late! See you tomorrow?"
