Bad Moon Rising
September 2nd, 2020
Miranda rubbed her eyes as she walked without a set destination. She was simply wandering for the sake of wandering, an odd situation for some, but not for her. The Ravenclaw found that as the full moon neared, she tended to get restless and got a bad case of wander-lust. Although, there were many more changes that seemed much more obvious, but as long as Miranda stayed away from mirrors, they didn't seem to bother her. Well, as long as she kept away from mirrors and other people. Which was a hard prospect at a school filled with other students and professors.
The changes wrought upon her from the nearness of the moon were obvious to anyone that knew what she normally looked like, and probably people who didn't either. Her eyes, normally a clear blue, seemed to glow eerily and her skin was shallow and pale.
She turned a corner, rubbing her shoulder absently. Although Miranda was wearing her school robes, she could still feel the raised edges of the scar that marred the skin there. If she were to remove her robe, it would reveal a criss-crossing patch of red and white scars with puckered skin at the edges. It generally looked disgusting, and was a reminder of the more negative aspects of her condition, so Miranda tended to keep it hidden. It only served to make her thoughts stray back to the night of the attack, and her own stupidity.
Although, she tended to think of that anyways when the moon was full, at least until she finally transformed and was distracted by being in a building full of other wolves. Fortunately, her distraction didn't come from fear, but from the exhilarating feeling of the power and strength that was afforded to her because of her new form. So although the repercussions could be fierce, there were still positives, however small.
And that was what Miranda did best - focus on the positives. And she wasn't alone, either, not with all the other werewolves that could be found around Hogwarts. That was a pretty good thing, because she probably wouldn't have come back for her second year without the support of her friends.
But now wasn't the time to think about that. Miranda forcibly shook her head as if that could knock the thoughts out, then continued down the corridor, trailing her hand alongside the wall.

Bad Moon Rising
Wren sat quietly in the corridor window, looking out at the mountains beyond Hogwarts. The sun glowed red as it sunk lower and lower into the ground, casting its final beams of light across the sky. She knew she shouldn't be sitting in the window, as it was on the second floor, but she couldn't help it. The first time she came here was to think, and now she couldn't help coming back. It was quiet, with a little wind from the window, and she didn't have to worry about getting seen as she was hidden in the shadows. Sighing, she looked back out the window. She couldn't really decide if she liked Hogwarts. Everyone seemed very distant, and she couldn't shake off the feeling of her muggle school. After her first night with Paisley, everyone had been talking about the two girls who had "wrecked the hallway". That had been the worst night of her life, and it just gave everyone a chance make fun of her just like at her muggle school. I really don't like her...
Her head whipped around quickly as the sound of footsteps started behind her. Situating herself so that she couldn't be seen, she tried to make out the person coming. It was a Ravenclaw girl, judging by the blue on her school robes. She looked older than a first year, and was most likely a second year. Her skin was shallow and pale, and her blue eyes were very dull. She seemed tired, and worried, as she walked aimlessly through the corridor.
Wren knew she probably should say something to her. Ask if she was okay, or something, but she didn't know if she wanted to. After all, she might be one of the people who knew about the "incident". I might as well, get it over with. A strong gust of wind blew through the corridor as she quietly walked over to the girl.
"What are you doing?" she asked, a little more hostility in her voice than she meant. She ran over the many things people usually say when they first meet her, wondering which one the Ravenclaw would use. Aren't you one of the girls who wrecked the hallway? That one was always annoying, and a little embarrassing. But "why are you eyes different colors?" was most definitely the most common one. Even at her muggle school they asked that. Because she was blind in her right eye, it was a different color than her other eye. White instead of green. Wren waited for the girls response, wondering how this would go.

Bad Moon Rising
Miranda hadn't really expected to see anyone, especially not so close to curfew. In fact, she'd almost been banking on the fact. So when a sudden gust of wind blasted a new, unfamiliar scent into her face, she jumped. Barely a moment later, a slightly hostile voice added a sound to the smell.
A quick glance showed no one nearby, but then Miranda noticed another girl, perhaps a year younger with straight brown hair and a scar along her face walking towards her. Although, the strangest thing about her wasn't any of that - it was her eyes. One was a normal, cold green colour, but the other was an impassive white.
Although she tried not to, Miranda couldn't help but feel she was staring a bit. But maybe the girl was used to it, living with such odd eye colours. At the very least, hopefully she didn't take it the wrong way.
"I, uh, what?" Miranda asked, flustered. She'd done her best to avoid people all day long, but now it seemed her efforts were in vain. The Ravenclaw glanced up and down the corridor nervously, perhaps searching for a way to escape - alas, even if she spotted something of use, she didn't take it. "Oh...just walking. Down the hall. Is that-is that not allowed?" Her last question was a bit less rambling, and more piercing, as if waiting for the girl to reply with the wrong answer, whatever that could be.
She very badly wanted to ask about the girl's scar and eyes, but felt that it would quite possibly be rude and no doubt extend their conversation. And with the nearness of the moon, along with the generally sick feeling she had reflected in her manner and appearance, that wasn't what Miranda wanted - or needed.

Bad Moon Rising
Wren could feel the girls eyes lock onto hers. She forced herself not to look away as the Ravenclaw studied them. After years of people doing this, she had learned to work with it. Everyone had different reactions, and it was always better to see what they do before reacting. After what seemed to be several minutes, the Ravenclaw looked away. Wren expected a comment about her eyes but instead the girl turned to answering the earlier question.
"I, uh, what?" she stuttered, as though she couldn't remember the question. Wren instantly felt bad about her hostile tone. The Ravenclaw didn't seem mean at all, and she hadn't been doing anything that was against the rules. She let her expression soften a little, but before she could say anything the girl continued.
"Oh... just walking. Down the hall. Is that-is that not allowed?"
"No, of course it's allowed." She paused for a moment. The girl looked really eager to ask about her eyes, but she also seemed to be holding back. She looks worried. Wondering why the girl was worried, she suddenly remembered the Ravenclaws pale skin and dull eyes. Glancing out of the window, she spotted the moon, glowing in the midnight colored sky. Suddenly the dots connected in her head. How do I keep meeting werewolves? What is it, four that I know now? She wondered how the girl would react if she mentioned it. After all, some people really hate it while others are proud of it.
"I know this is kind of abrupt, and random, but..." started Wren, deciding to take the chance, "I noticed that you looked worried, and I realize that it's almost the full moon." She knew that, if the Ravenclaw was a werewolf, she would catch on to what she was saying.

Bad Moon Rising
Miranda startled a bit at the other girl's implication, then smiled sheepishly. "Is it that obvious?" she asked, even though that wasn't necessary. If the girl had guessed so easily, than yes, it was obvious, no question about it. She shifted slightly, rubbing her shoulder again. For a second, Miranda's gaze trailed towards the window, then jerked back.
She most likely only had a dozen or so minutes before she would have to go back to her common room to get picked up...perhaps she could lie and say she had to leave right away, just to escape? But no, that wasn't how Miranda worked. Lying was something she only did in extreme circumstances, and while this wasn't comfortable, it hadn't quite reached such a desperate point yet.
"And if you don't mind me asking, why is it you're up and about so close to curfew?" Miranda asked. The other girl couldnt be a werewolf, because she wouldn't have looked so healthy...right? After all, Miranda did her best to find out who belonged to her race in the school, and it would have been pretty unlikely that this girl had slipped through her searching.
Briefly, Miranda debated introducing herself, just to have something to say. But no...that would probably extend their conversation, something she didn't really want to happen. Best to keep their meeting short and brief. There would be less chance for Miranda to mess up in her sickly condition and say something she regretted if she went not. So obviously, the best decision was to leave. Go away. Turn, wave, and then walk down the corridor, out of sight.
She didn't.
