Using School Owl
Dear @Kaegan Chase,
I got your name right, right? I had to ask around a bit, but quite a few people seem to know it, so I'm hoping I got the right person instead of sending the poor owl to someone completely random. You do go to Hogwarts, right? In Gryffindor? That's what I'm told the lion crest means.
Anyways, if you are the right person, I'm Sylvie Everett. One of the Beauxbatons students that came a few days ago. You know, in the giant carriage? I'd say that's pretty hard to miss, espesily especially with all the new students in your school.
Well, apparently there's going to be a dance soon. It sounds fun...can't be too bad. I mean, getting a chance to dress up, either at a Masquerade ball or a Costume Party, is bound to be interesting. And...maybe you'd like to go with me?
I heard there's going to be a fall dance, and I was wondering whether you'd like to go with me?
Sinserily Sincerely, Sylvie Everett

OOC: Words crossed out with one line are legible, but take a moment to decrypt. Words crossed out with two are impossible to read, and are smeared out completely. Also as a note, Sylvie is pretty direct, and doesn't really waste much time getting to the point. Feel free to have Kaegan get annoyed by her efforts, or simply send curt messages. She's not giving up either way

Sylvie Everett,
Yes. Bravo. You've managed to get my name right. I can tell you're especially intelligent already. While I'm flattered that so many people know who I am, I believe that any person receiving a letter from you could be called 'poor,' regardless of whether or not it was meant for them. And look at that, correct again- the lion does stand for Gryffindor. I'm very proud that you've managed to gather so much information on the school you're currently attending. Knowing the slightest thing about your surroundings is quite an unusual thing to do.
I'm not quite sure if Beauxbatons students are educated differently, but here at Hogwarts, we use a thing called common sense. It generally states that, if you have no idea who a person is and have never spoken to them before in your life, you don't ask them to balls. While I'd be incredibly honored to attend a ridiculous dance with an equally ridiculous girl I've never met, I'll have to politely decline this offer. I do not intend on attending the Autumn ball, I do not intend on going anywhere near the Autumn ball, and I certainly do not intend on doing either of those things with you.
If you would be ever so kind as to refrain from sending me any further Owls, I would be much obliged. And please, work on your handwriting.

Kaegan also included a second copy of the letter, this one written entirely in French, in an effort to mock her. Neither letter had any visible errors.

Dear @Kaegan Chase
Impressive French! It's almost as good as mine. Anyways, it's good to see I got your name right, and your house. There's so many, and half the time I'm not sure if a house belongs to Ilvermoney or Hogwarts...I mean, I know that there's a Slytherin and a Horned Serpent houses, which are way to close to remember easily.
Also, even if you don't intend to attend, you can always change your mind. Really, it can't be too bad. It might actually be really fun! Besides, you seem like someone who could use something amusing to cheer them up! So...what do you say? Just send this owl back when you have a reply - and maybe feed him a treat? Because he keeps bothering me about it.
Sincerely, Sylvie Everett

OOC: In response to Kaegan sending her a French message, she deserted her efforts to write in English and is now writing in French. While her spelling improved substantially, her handwriting isn't much better, although perhaps a bit more legible.

SCHOOL OWL
Sylvie Everett,
Concerning the first part of your letter, I've found that an easy way to discern the two schools is to remember that you are at one and not the other. It sounds incredibly complicated, but I'm sure if you think hard it'll start to make sense.
In response to your second proposition, you're leading me to believe my French isn't as impressive as you claim since it appears you've misinterpreted the previous letter. Perhaps you should pay more attention to your classes, Sylvie. Often they teach you important skills, such as reading and basic cognitive functions. I believe I told you I wasn't attending the ball, correct? While I'm sure many of your acquaintances would love nothing more than to spend all of their time with you, I have a unique desire to engage in productive activities. It seems to be a reasonable assumption that the dance will have many people reminiscent of you- with equally unwilling partners- and there's a very slim chance any situation along those lines will "actually be really fun."
Let me assure you that I'm plenty optimistic and don't need something to cheer me up. You must just be putting a damper on my typically pleasant mood. It's not difficult to see how you could have that effect on people. At the moment, I don't care to waste any more ink (I've found it's quite more expensive than this correspondence demands), so this is the last time I'll say this: Laisse-moi tranquille, Sylvie.
Regarding the owl, I have good reason to guess that it bites people it dislikes. Food may not help your case.

Kaegan declined to include a copy in French, gathering that it's harder for Sylvie to speak in English and hoping to scornfully discourage her from sending more letters.

Dear @Kaegan Chase
Actually, I'm in neither! I told you, remember? I'm come from Beauxbatons, not Ilvermoney or Hogwarts. But don't worry, I've met loads of people who have to ask me my school when they first meet me.
And no, I didn't misunderstand a thing. I stick to the same fact - your french is amazing, for someone coming from Britain. But I really think you're not thinking the idea over. I mean, the ball is a costume one for heaven's sake! There's bound to be interesting things to do! And what do you mean by productive, exactly? Studying? If others can make time for the dance, I'm sure you can to. And from what I've gathered, you don't seem like one to get detention often.
Besides, everyone can use something to cheer them up! No one's happy all the time, you know. And contrary to what you might think, most people say I'm very cheerful and fun to be around...which leads me back to my main point: the dance could be fun!
And who would ever believe that food wouldn't help? I fed some of my breakfast to the owl, and he's infinitely happier now!
Sincerely, Sylvie Everett

OCTOBER 12, LATE EVENING
SCHOOL OWL
Sylvie Everett,
Merlin, did neither parent teach you how to comprehend a simple sentence? I couldn't care less about what school you attend, or was that not clear? I have informed you repeatedly of my dislike of both balls and of you, yet somehow you're not deterred. This is a waste of paper, ink, and an owl.
Of course, I don't receive detention, because I don't take part in ridiculous activities that are in place merely for the sake of squandering an evening. If I'm to be honest, anything is productive as long as it's apart from you and your pathetic excuses at entertainment. Spending hours at an event that would benefit me in no way is laughable, if not entirely out of the question. I have no interest in attending, either alone or with you, of all people, and I pray that this will finally begin to dawn on you a few letters late.
I've started to run out of ideas as to how to phrase this in a way you could easily understand. Shall we use less than three letters, Everett? Will that suffice?
The answer, I inform you for the third time, is no. Quite a straightforward response to anyone whose brain wasn't left at Beauxbatons. I used to be quite pleased to receive mail, but now I'm on the verge of strangling the owl every time I see it has a letter. Please, do me and the bird a great favor and find some other unfortunate person to hound.
I don't think I'm better than you, I know I am.

Dear @Kaegan Chase
Please don't hurt the owl! It's not his fault. He's a dear, really (well, once you give him a treat, that is). But I can send a different one, if you'd like...maybe that annoyingly creepy one that stares at me every time I come up to the owlery.
Anyways, let me phrase this in a way you understand: going to the dance will be enjoyable! Besides, if you find my letters so annoying, just agree. Then I'll stop pestering you until the 16th, so three days. I mean, how is it you're so annoyed about it? Surely you can't be so grumpy all the time...
So...what do you say?
Sincerely, Sylvie Everett

SCHOOL OWL
Sylvie Everett,
Fine. I'll stop declining your offers, and in return, you won't bother me for as long as it's physically possible for you. On that note, while I'm highly honored that you'd spend hours of your life aggravating me when you could be doing anything, anything else, I intend to set some rules before you let this go to your head.
To start, after this is over, you'll leave me in peace. Nothing would make me happier than never seeing another letter with your handwriting on it. Secondly, no matter the scenario, I will not attend another ball with you. This is a one-time occasion- no need to thank me. Last, whatever you insist on wearing, please ensure it covers your face. The least you could do is spare me the dignity of being seen in your company.
And, in one last futile attempt to change your mind, under no circumstances do I plan on making this event pleasurable for either of us.
I don't think I'm better than you, I know I am.

Dear @Kaegan Chase
Finally you see reason! And don't worry about your rules, I'll do my best to follow suite! Although, you might change your mind on some of them afterwards, you know. Don't write me off too quickly!
As for your temper, I won't worry about that too much either. We're going to a party! Who could be grumpy during a party, really? Definitely not you.
I'll meet you in the Small Hall, then, on October 16th!
Sincerely, Sylvie Everett
