Day of Rain
Ravenclaw v Hufflepuff
Moderator: @Dan Palmer
Date: October 24, 2020
It was pouring rain on a brisk Saturday afternoon, this would be the second day of seemingly endless rain. There was an eastern wind that was blowing hard. It was as if the sky itself was telling the wizards that today was another bad day for a match. However, this was one of those rare moments were the stadium could be packed. Not just with fellow students and professors but also the eager and interested faces of their most welcomed guests: students and staff from Ilvermorny, Durmstrang and Beauxbatons. After Hufflepuff's flawless victory last year, the other houses will have to try even harder to break that winning streak.
The announcer (an NPC run by the moderator of the thread) would step into the middle of the pitch and greet the roaring crowd. This was going to be an amazing competition of both brain and brawn. The Captains of both teams were eager and not the sort to back down from a challenge: @Neculai Lazar and @Quinn Healy, each likely hoping for a swift and easy victory, both teams would enter the pitch and perform their customary flight around the perimeter of the ring. The crowd would cheer, perhaps a few would heckle. This was going to be quite the match.
There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.

Day of Rain
Ami didn't think she had ever been more nervous in her entire life.
She had tried out for the team on a stupid dare from @Cecily Quinn and @Amadea Campbell (and @Ruby Cazares, but we don't speak of her here), but things had snowballed and she found herself falling in love with the sport and her new team in the blink of an eye. Sure, she was athletic and a borderline jock, but her instincts usually pointed her to fight, not flight.
As she stepped out onto the field with her broom on her shoulders, as if she didn't have a care in the world, she glanced at @Quinn Healy nervously. Her expression betrayed her true emotions, and she was clearly terrified of what was about to transpire.
"Quinn... hey, Quinnie," she muttered, running up to his side and elbowing him in the stomach gently. "Quinn, I don't know if I can do this." Her stomach was turning somersaults over and over, the single apple she'd managed to choke down tumbling about painfully. She could hear the dull rumbling of the stands, and the thought of everyone's eyes on them, on the players, was almost too much to bear. All she could do was pray that Ethen would catch the Snitch as soon as possible, and that she wouldn't actually have to be put in. Was that selfish? Yes, of course it was selfish. But she could only assume that @Alexx Séverin would be watching, and well... the last thing she wanted to do was embarrass herself in front of Alexx.
"Goddammit, why am I so good at everything..."
Rubbing the back of her neck, she glanced towards the Ravenclaw team worriedly. Cecily was a co-captain now, and this would be their second match against one another- that is, if Gobstones actually counted as a match. But this time, she was determined to emerge victorious; they were the Hogwarts champions for a reason, and they had a reputation to uphold.

Day of Rain
Howard stood at the exit of the changing rooms listening to the rain pound the Quidditch pitch. Although the lack of sunlight bode well for his sensitive skin he did worry what it meant for the team. The strong winds and stinging rain would be hard to play in. After making a few final adjustments to his equipment, Howard made his way out to the pitch.
The bright colors of his new game day uniform would dull quickly as they became soaked. With broom in hand he made his way over to his fellow teammates. A mix of nerves and excitement coursed through his chest as he came to stand beside them. It was his very first game and although he would start it on the bench, it was a bit overwhelming. After a nod to his teammates Howard mounted his broom and kicked off. He had too much energy built up to head to the bench right away.
The conditions were worse than he could have imagined. The high winds blew him all about, making it hard to fly straight and forget trying to see anything. Howard silently wished his teammates good luck. Only the gods would know how any of them would keep an eye on the various balls. After a few quick laps Howard would return to the ground near the Hufflepuff bench and stand at the ready.

Day of Rain
Annie took in her surroundings from the shelter of the changing rooms. The rain had been going for a bit now and it was also quite windy. How.. lovely. She shifted her weight in her legs, her broom clutched at her side before the teams were signaled to head out. The girl gazed at the other students in the stands or benched, it was almost worse for them since they weren't moving. Everyone was going to get soaked and cold really quickly which wouldn't be enjoyable but it is what it is.
As soon as she set foot onto the pitch she got a chill going up her spine. Her uniform was damp and she was going to be surprised if she didn't come down with a cold for however long they were going to be out in this awful weather. As they all stood in line staring at each other and the other team waiting for the match to start she glanced around at her own team. The summer game had all taken a toll on them, some people ended up leaving the team, for unknown reasons but she had stayed.
They were her family, she knew they were a strong unit, but only if they stuck together. She gave her head a firm nod, wiped the bangs that were plastered to her forehead with water out of her face and mounted her broom. Now she waited for the whistle so she could kick off and make her team proud.

This weather was less than ideal for a Quidditch match, but it didn't stop Aaron Jones from beaming as he made his way onto the Quidditch field. The season had finally started! After nearly two months of practicing on his new Moontrimmer broom, he was more than ready to keep Hufflepuff's champion status going! He had stepped down as Co-Captain last month, but it wasn't because he was planning to quit the team. Although he had distanced himself considerably from Captain Quinn lately - his heart and soul was still in the game and he would give it his all.
Aaron mounted his broom and took a lap with the rest of the team, flying close to the stands and feeling his chest swell at the cheers of all the people. He knew his friends were out there offering Hufflepuff their support - and even better, there were the foreign students from the other schools too! Aaron was nervous, but also excited to show them why Hufflepuff were the Hogwarts champions and would continue to be so! It was a lot of pressure - even if he wasn't a captain still, he wanted his team to do well and win! He never wanted to give up Hufflepuff's winning streak!
Eventually, the lap was over and it was time to get into position, so Aaron did exactly that. The normally bright smile on his face morphed into a look of concentration. It was time to get serious. Ravenclaw wouldn't stand a chance. He had practiced in the rain before, and it wouldn't hinder him today!

Day of Rain
River listened to the drumming of the rain heavily hitting the ground outside. If it hadn’t been for the stormy day, she might have felt her nerves building more forcefully. But this wasn’t the case. She really didn’t feel too nervous, and the weather only helped keep her calm. She’d always liked the rain, and storms in general, though if one looked at this situation, it might really not have been the best time for a stormy day. Considering they’d be high up in the air on their brooms.
It was all routine now. Walk out on the pitch, give the audience a glance to get a feel of how many had decided to come out on a day like this, and the head for the bench. She walked out with her head lifted and shoulders back. Once she reached the end of their cover, she felt the rain soak into her uniform and weighed her hair down. It fell in strands down over her face, sticking to her droplet-freckled face. Carrying herself steadily to the bench of the second string players. She greeted the other players already placed there as she found a seat and placed her new broom next to her. River tilted her head back, taking in a breath of air as she felt the rain beads fall onto her face.
Part of her expected this game to turn out just as the previous ones had. So far, there really hadn’t been much need for her on the field at all, and it wasn’t all bad, she did enjoy keeping up with everything that was going on from the comfort of the bench, but of course there was always that twinge of hope that she’d get to play this game. At the same time, she didn’t want anything to happen to Neculai, but if anything was to go down, she’d be more than ready to step in for him.
So she sat there, keeping her attention on the players on the pitch, readying herself for any unexpected turn of events.Action: Benched

It was Elias' first-ever real quidditch game. His first-ever time stepping onto the pitch for an official Ravenclaw quidditch match as a member of the team, of course, he'd come to watch the games during his first year, but this was different... even if he was just going to be sitting on the bench.
Making his way towards the Ravenclaw team bench with rain splattering onto his face, the young wizard could not help but beam. He was here. Finally. For those who knew him well, ie: Thomas, Callie, and Eyre, this happy expression may have seemed a tad out of place. As he took his seat on the bench, Eli couldn't help his bouncing leg. Anxiety and nerves ran throughout his body as he sat, anxiously awaiting the start of the match.
Glaring around the pitch until his eyes landed on the opposing team's bench, Elias made unfortunate eye contact with one Reid Kovacs. Something about the fourth-year Hufflepuffs face irked him immensely. He just looked extremely punchable. Making a mental note of this, the Ravenclaw continued his glaring, (although it was probably a tad strange when paired with the relatively bright and uncharacteristic smile on his face), and would likely be doing so until the match officially commenced.

Today would be Miranda's first official game as a Ravenclaw Chaser. And frankly, she felt like an entire swarm of butterflies were stampeding around her stomach (do butterflies stampede? It sure felt like it. Really, the whole saying was kind of ridiculous. It felt more like a pile of rocks had settled in her gut, weighing her down). It didn't help that the rain was coming down like bullets, getting in her eyes and limiting her vision, not to mention soaking her robes and making them even heavier.
She glanced around at the stands, wincing at the sight of how many people had showed up, even if it meant braving the insane weather. If Miranda failed today, she'd be doing it in front of not only Hogwarts, but Ilvermoney, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang as well.
Miranda turned her gaze to the Hufflepuff team, most of who seemed excited or at the very least grimly prepared. They were last years champions - had even taken down the famed Durmstrang team. Not exactly the best odds for her first match. This was going to be a difficult game, and Miranda could only hope she'd stay on her broom long enough to see most of it.

Cecily was more on edge than ever as she stepped out onto the Quidditch pitch, broom in hand. It was the perfect storm for her stress levels to be through the roof.
1) It was the first game of the season. Sure, it wasn't like Cecily was out of practice or anything-- she had been on her broom every free second she got this summer-- but she was entering the pitch with a new team at her back. She trusted them all, of course, to play their hardest, but she wasn't sure they had quite clicked yet. After playing a whole season with last year's team, she was used to knowing just what her teammates might do. But with new players in almost every position, she wasn't quite as confident. Which, of course, wasn't to say that she didn't think this team had the potential to beat the Hufflepuffs into the ground (not literally...probably). She believed strongly in her team. She had to, of course, because
2) she was officially the co-captain of Ravenclaw's Quidditch team. She still couldn't entirely wrap her head around it. She was (sort of, kind of, mostly) in charge of the entire team today, with the help of Neculai. And this was her very first game with that kind of pressure, something she was not prepared for. Not to mention the fact that
3) The game was against Hufflepuff-- the winners of last summer's interschool championship. Because if it wasn't bad enough, they had to play the objectively best team in the school. At least she had heard that their roster had gotten shuffled since last summer, too, so perhaps Ravenclaw stood a better chance than Cecily thought.
These thoughts racing through her head, Cecily gripped her broom tighter and took a deep breath. They could beat these badgers, easy. They just had to keep it together long enough for Neculai or River to find that elusive golden snitch.ACTION: as strategised.ReducioSTATS:
