"The bird who dares to fall is the bird who learns to fly."

Vision NaNoWriMo - Planning
Main Character
Description
Name: Faith Ezenburke
Age: 13 Years
Dominant Hand: Right
Residence: Creorus
Faith has light, cool blonde hair, and it is about shoulder length. She keeps it over her ear on the right side but she keeps it behind her ear on the left side. It is relatively smooth and is very straight. Her eyes are a hazel brown color. They are more on the light side and, despite the average brown color, they are quite beautiful. Her eyes also almost look a little watery, and so they shine a little bit when light reflects off of them just right. At 13 years old, she does not yet have any scars. Faith is a skinny girl, but she is not small. In fact she is considered to be around average height, though if you know her well you would be able to see that she is closer to being above average. Overall, she is not the strongest person. However is she were to be in danger you wouldn't exactly call her weak. As for speed she can run quite fast. As with strength she is not the fastest person but if danger were to come she would be able to run for quite some time and at a decent speed. As a whole, Faith is good at most things pretty average at most things.

Personality
Best Qualities: Perseverant, doesn't give up, kind, loyal.
Worst Qualities: Doubtful, insecure, unsure.
Faith has many qualities to her, both good and bad. Unfortunately, she does have a lot of not so good features to her. For starters, she is very doubtful of herself. She rarely feels that what she is doing is right, and this makes her opinion easily swayed. This flaw in her personality actually influences the plot quite a bit. She is also very unsure of things, which adds to her doubting herself. In other words, she is very indecisive. She often doesn't know what the right thing to do is. You could say that she is insecure. However, despite the three of these she does have some good qualities. She is extremely perseverant, first of all. She might no think it, but to have all that doubt and still push through takes some extreme persistence. She doesn't give up. She is also really kind, almost always willing to help her friends, with her best ones being Owen and Blythe. As well as being kind she is also extremely loyal to her friends. This is shown with her 'friend' Meaghan. She follows and does things with Meaghan even if she knows that they are wrong, therefore being very loyal to her friend. That is, however, until the end of the book where their friendship ends.

Backstory
When Faith was younger, she used to live in Tramere. There aren't to many people in the town, as it is right next to the White River, but there were still a bit of people. However, Faith never did make many if any friends there. Even at school, she only really talked to people when they had to do projects or something. When she was outside of school, she was most often by the river. There was rarely anyone there, and while she had no desire to make friends, she started to feel a little lonely. At first she wasn't entirely sure what to do, but then one day it hit her. What better way to have a friend without actually having to meet them? Create an imaginary friend. And that is exactly what she did. She thought very carefully before she made any big decisions about her friend. At her school, she was always the youngest person in her class. She had always wanted a chance to be the oldest, and because of this she decided that her friend should be a year younger than her. She was also always considered to be odd or weird at her school because of her unusual antisocial personality. And from this she wanted to make her friend unusual just like her.
It wasn't long after the decision of an imaginary friend that they became best friends. Everyday at school she worked hard in anticipation of the adventures they would do when she came home. They would play in the river during the day and at night they could play in her dreams. She never told anyone about her unique friend, and for the first time in her life she wasn't alone. It was the best kind of friendship that anyone could have.
It went on like this for many years. Her parents often advised her to make new friends, to try things out, but Faith never listened. She was perfectly content adventuring with her invisible friend. Her parents, on the other hand, didn't think that it was the best thing for her. And so they began talking about moving to a different town. It would offer a fresh start for Faith, and for all of them at that. Faith was not overly pleased about it, but she kept reassuring herself of one thing. No matter what she would always have one friend. At least, that's what she thought.
It had been a wonderful day. It was saturday, so she and her friend had been adventuring by the river all day. It had been a successful day, and Faith was looking forward to continuing their adventures in her dreams that night. But unfortunately, that's not how it worked out. Something had gone wrong, and after waking up in the middle of the night, startled by what had happened, Faith wasn't sure what to do. She tried to hide her confusion and worry over the next couple days, but she didn't do it well enough. Her parents, not understanding, made the official decision to move. Having not been on her own in so long, Faith started to block out the memories of her old friend. The dream that night had scared her, and having to move without the reassurance of her friend she didn't know what to do.
By the time they moved from Tramere to Cresthill, Faith had completely blocked out the memories of her friend. She didn't want to think about them, she wanted to forget. Little did she know that forgetting would soon prove impossible.

Side Characters
Character #1
Name: Owen
Age: 12 Years (Recent)
Dominant Hand: Left
Residence: Ezazia (Half-Fantasy)
Owen has golden blonde hair that is about medium length. It is very smooth and is swept to the right, though sometimes it falls over his eyes. His eyes are a very distinguishable white color. At night it almost seems like they glow. Because of these features it is often hard for him to blend in if/when needed.

Owen has many features to him, both good and bad. Overall, his best quality is that he is really smart. This allows him to string together pieces evidence and other things so he can figure out what's going on, even when people don't tell him, most of the time. He is also brave, and he is not afraid to go head on into danger. He is also kind, though mainly to Faith. These can be considered good qualities, but they can be considered bad as well. Since he is good at figuring things out, this makes him an ideal target for Levi or the forgotten fantasies. Mostly because they don't want anyone figuring out what they are up to.

While not everyone is aware, Owen was the imaginary friend of Faith. They would go adventuring together all the time, and he took it upon himself to protect her. This caused him to become more brave, as had gotten used to protecting her. However, after that one night with Faith, it became seemingly possible to contact her as she blocked out all the memories. It was then that Owen realized that he was half-fantasy. With no way to protect Faith in Creorus, he decided to start protecting against an evil that was starting to rise after so many years. He wanted stop the forgotten fantasies so that if Faith ever decided to reopen her memories, nothing like that one night would scare her again. Little did he know that the way to protect her from the evil was to do it with her.
Character #2
Name: Blythe Stormshade
Age: 15 Years
Dominant Hand: Ambidextrous
Residence: Falenia (Seiag)
Blythe has light, honey blond hair that goes a little farther down than her shoulders. She keeps it behind her ears on both sides and it gently rests on her back. It is very straight and silky. Her eyes are a dark blue-grey color that compliments her light hair. She wears a white button up shirt that is kind of ruffly with light, khaki colored pants and black slip-on shoes. They have laces in the front and are easy to run and move around in.

Blythe has a lot of good qualities, as well as a few flaws. She is knowledgable about things, though mainly about mythical creatures because of her 5 year Seiag training. She is also very encouraging of her friends and is an easy person to talk to. This means she is also very kind and trustworthy. However, she still does have some flaws. Because she is so kind and encouraging, it kind of blinds her when someone is evil or bad. In other words she encourages practically everyone, so she doesn't notice if someone is acting suspicious.

Living in Falenia, Blythe devoted most of her life to being a Seiag. When she was younger, she originally wanted to go to Ezazia. She had heard of it before, along with Creorus, but wasn't sure how it was possible to get there. For a while she and her sister, Brooklyn, were really interested in the subject. They studied how both the places worked, but once her sister started her Seiag training, Blythe's interests turned to that as well. It was around this time that her father left, and he never came back. Neither of the girls ever had a close relationship with their mother, so Blythe basically relied on her sister. She didn't think she would ever be connected to Ezazia in any way, which for a while she was upset about but slowly let go of it, but that changed once she met Faith and Owen.

"The bird who dares to fall is the bird who learns to fly."

Vision NaNoWriMo - Planning
Setting
In the world where Vision takes place, there are three places that people call home. Creorus, Ezazia, and Falenia. They are all surrounded by an ocean, making them continents or in Falenia's case, an island.

Physical Description
If looking at a map, Creorus would be on the far left, or in the west. It's population is not overly high, quite unlike the earth we know, and so the towns are relatively spread apart. The people who inhabit this place, called Creorans, live in one of the 9 towns. Cresthill, Astraden, Riverward, Faldin, Tramere, Willcoast, Ravenport, Vernstone, or Streid. The northern part of Creorus is taken up by the Tasione Woods, which is mainly made up of beech trees. Both Cresthill and Astraden are located in these woods. Cresthill is in the northeastern part of the forest, slightly more isolated from the rest of the towns, and has the second lowest population of them. Astraden is located in the western part of the forest, closer to the center of Creorus, and is one of the more populated towns. Almost exactly to the east of it is Riverward. Riverward is right on the edge of the White River, which goes along the whole east side of Creorus, and the Tasione Woods. This area is mostly grassland and takes up a large piece of Creorus. Almost exactly in the center of Creorus is Faldin. This is the more populated town and is by far the largest. Directly north of Riverward is Tramere. Tramere is in more of a marshy area, just below the grassier area and right next to the White River. Willcoast, another of the more populated towns, is right next to the ocean and is one of the more populated towns. Streid, the last of the towns in the grassier area, is in the far southwest. Finally, in the far southeast are Ravenport and Vernstone. They are some of the smallest towns due to the mountains around them and the river behind them.
Ezazia is just to the right of Creorus. In between them is something called the void. It is basically empty space that separates reality from fantasy. The void is hidden from view on both sides by a light mist, which is how in Creorus it got its name "White River". Time acts very weirdly in the void. Sometimes it feels like a long time for the person inside of the void and it's really been like no time at all. Or it could feel like a really short amount of time for the person inside the void but in reality it is a really long time.
The people who inhabit Ezazia are called Ezazians. They live in one of the six towns. These include Lannerfield, Morzen, Segress, Herthendale, Burnspring and Esris. Tyren is a town as well but no one actually lives there. The very northwestern tip is mainly grass. This is where Lannerfield is. It is not an overly populated town as it is cut off from the rest of Ezazia by the Cobalt River. This river runs from the northwestern tip down just before the to southwestern tip. In northern section on the east side of the river, there is a mixture of grass and forest. In the tip there is a canyon (currently unnamed), which looks like it is pointing at the town Morzen. This town is one of the most populated in Ezazia. A little farther down the map, but still in the north, is Segress. This is a tiny town, not very populated, the rests on the east side of the Cobalt River in the middle of a valley. Along the valley is a small mountain range. Inside one of the mountains, almost centered in the middle of Ezazia, is Tyren. This town does not have anyone living in it, but it is really important. Now in the southern part, a little more to the east than the west, is Burnspring. It sits on an island in the middle of a lake and is the rulering town of Ezazia, so it has the highest population. In the southeastern tip is Esris. Down there it is really marshy, but Esris still has a large piece of the population. And finally, in the southwestern tip, is Herthendale. This is one of the least populated towns due to its remote area.
It is surrounded by mountains, which makes it really hard to get to.

Insight
The place in Ezazia, called Tyren, is where the imaginary creatures live and dreams of children take place (Tyren expands to another “world” when you enter). There are many portal type things in Tyren that each lead to a different “portal world”. The portal worlds are all different landscapes, so there might be one that leads to big grassland or a forest, or perhaps an ocean or a mountain range. There are certain people who are chosen to go and watch/check out things that are happening through the portal worlds. These people are called dreamwatchers. Burnspring, the leading town of Ezazia, has a device that tracts the dreamwatchers when they go to the portal worlds. This way if there is a problem, they can find the dreamwatchers and get them out. However if nothing goes wrong, the dreamwatchers will come out and report if anything bad is happening in the portal worlds. If there is something wrong in the portal worlds, they will fix it before a kid from Creorus has a nightmare, basically. They can’t have kids have a nightmare because Ezazia needs to keep the dreams and spirits alive. Ezazia is considered the “dream world”, because without the dreams and imagination of the kids then there is no Ezazia (it fades). Because of this, they have to put up extra precautions. There is a spell, almost, that makes it so that kids cannot interact with each other once in the portal worlds. They could be right next to each other and never know it, because the spell keeps the kids from seeing anything that might interrupt their dreams.

"The bird who dares to fall is the bird who learns to fly."

Vision NaNoWriMo - Planning
Main Plot
In this story, it actually starts out with Blythe in a dream that Faith has. In the dream, it is the day of Blythe's Seiag ceremony. At this time it is also her birthday, so she is turning 15. It starts out with her and her sister, Brooklyn, heading out to the ocean. It is almost evening, and it is now that Brooklyn gives Blythe her birthday presents. Still in the dream, Blythe has her ceremony and almost immediately has her 'test'. When she has an interaction with her soon to be dragon, Faith wakes up.
At first she doesn't know what to think. She doesn't know if it was real and if it is whether the girl was in danger. She tries not to think about it, though it proves progressively hard, and she mainly focuses on hanging out with her friend, Meaghan (who really is a bad influence). However, this time is short lived. On the day of the town bike race, she gets a prophecy (#1 Below). During this she sees a griffin, which she only assumes is the one it speaks of. When she wakes up, she doesn't know where she is. It appears that she is floating in the air, all alone, but she's not. A young boy is there with her. He is vaguely familiar to her but she doesn't know why. They only talk a little bit, as Faith is a little bit weary of the boy, but even in the short time that she is there she decides that there is something weird and oddly familiar about him. She tells herself that she doesn't want to think about it again but still she keeps questioning it as well as the prophecy.
For a while they stay in a forest. Faith is still a little nervous of the boy as he still hadn't revealed anything about himself. One day she asks him who he is, and he finally reveals his name to be Owen. That night, she is thinking over everything that has been happening. As she's falling asleep, she suddenly remembers that he was her imaginary friend when she was younger.
After finding a scroll with a legend of something called a Seiag, the two of them set off for Falenia where they meet Blythe and Brooklyn. By now the shock of who Owen is has started to wear off. They tell the two girls about the prophecy and ask if they know anything that might help them. Eventually they realize that none of the griffins on the island are that in the prophecy. Now friends, the four go back to Ezazia together where they create a group called The Uprising. The Uprising is basically trying to stop the forgotten fantasies, who they think are the main problem. During this time the forgotten fantasies find the group and convince Faith to join them. What they don't know, however, is that the real problem is a member of the Uprising named Levi (who's name if you rearrange it is Evil). While Faith is gone, Levi is trying to take over The Uprising and trying to get rid of Owen who is starting to figure out what he is up to. Once Faith comes back, however, he has to stop because he knows there's no way to do it when she is around.
Soon after she comes back to the Uprising, Owen figures out that Faith is the griffin in the prophecy and that it wasn't an actual griffin at all. It was a symbol, because when she was younger she loved griffins. A little bit after, Owen finally tells Faith of his suspicions about Levi. But she won't believe him because she trusts Levi. A little bit after the meeting, where they had their argument, Owen and Levi go off by themselves for a little bit (not sure of all the details yet) and Owen doesn't come back. Levi says that he wanted to leave The Uprising and Faith, still to upset and angry about their fight, doesn't realize that Owen wouldn't do anything like that.
With Owen gone and Faith only just come back from the forgotten fantasies, Levi is the new leader of The Uprising. At this time, Faith still trusts him. One night Blythe gets a second prophecy and tells it to Faith, who continues to have dreams about it. Meanwhile, Owen can see into her dreams as he was once her imaginary friend. While all this is going on, Levi keeps leaving The Uprising and coming back with 'signs' or 'messages' that the forgotten fantasies are gaining in power.
One day Faith remembers a small, wooden box that held adventures from when she and Owen were younger. Thinking that it could help them somehow, she brings it to Blythe (not Brooklyn because they still hadn't told her about the second prophecy yet). But instead, everything is gone and there is a card with the word 'Evil' with the 'i' as a phoenix feather. At first it baffles Faith, as she doesn't understand what the word 'Evil' and a phoenix feather could mean. But that's when Brooklyn remembers the meeting where Owen and Faith had their argument, right after the meeting and right before he disappeared. She remembered that Owen had called Levi 'Evil'. Originally she didn't want to believe it, but that night she got a dream where he asked for help (or something) and she decided that it was time to confront him. She asked Levi about the day Owen 'left'. He responds by telling her who he really is, but he gives her no further information. After that, Faith, Blythe, and Brooklyn realize that they need Owen to figure out the second prophecy. Deciding to risk leaving Levi with The Uprising, the three of them set out to found him. It takes them a little bit, but eventually they do.
After they find him, they are able to figure out the second prophecy and head over to the side of the canyon, as it is mentioned in the prophecy. When Levi arrives, a battle erupts. After Faith accidentally sets off a trap, Levi tries to attack but their powers as mentioned in the prophecy kick in and they are able to defeat Levi.

"The bird who dares to fall is the bird who learns to fly."

Vision NaNoWriMo - Planning
Side Plots
Side Plot #1
While all of this is going on, there is a lot of stuff happening that is not about Faith. Specifically, this is about Levi. Throughout this book, it doesn't really seem like he has many 'evil plans' that go into his actions. This, of course, is not the case at all. He actually has quite a few plans going on but he is really good at hiding his true plans.
When you first meet Levi, he just seems like any other character. Nothing special, just another normal, average human. But once you get to know him, you might not think that he is quite that normal. While it seems bizarre, he is actually a forgotten fantasy. But before we continue, you should know a little history about the forgotten fantasies.
A long time ago, Ezazia and Creorus worked basically the same as they do now. However, there was this group of fantasies (also known as Ezazians) who wanted to change the way Ezazia worked. Instead of bringing a sense of security and creativity with imaginary friends, they wanted to give nightmares and make night a time for fear. Because of this, they gave themselves the name, The Shadows. This also came from their ruler, who once was half-fantasy like Owen, so this means they were also an imaginary friend. Their person (as it's called) was on a dark path, and The Shadows ruler soon became known as the Shadow Ruler. The Ezazians, however, knew the affect on Creorus, if The Shadows took over, would have an affect on them as well. They would not fade, because the Creorans still believed in it. They felt it still existed. Instead of fading, Ezazia would become more like a shadow of darkness instead of the world of creativity they were. Needing to put an end to everything, one of The Shadows named Rogue, who had been working as a spy for Ezazians, banished The Shadows to the void. No more power over the world (most of The Shadows had some sort of power or something), no more control, forgotten. And so earning the name forgotten fantasies.
Now that you know the history of the forgotten fantasies, we can start to dive deeper into Levi's real plans. Once in the void, time appears to stop for the person. Whether it just feels like they are in the void for a long time and they aren't (like what happened to Faith and Owen) or it feels like a short time and actually a long time had passed. This is what happened to the forgotten fantasies. When they were banished to the void they lost their powers except for a few of them, Levi included. These were the ones that could get out of the void, at least until the barrier broke, and get into Ezazia.
While all the forgotten fantasies wanted revenge, Levi had a slightly different idea. He wanted revenge, but he also wanted power. He wanted to rule both sides of the void, but he knew it wouldn't be possible with the leader of the forgotten fantasies around (not the Shadow Ruler, an alternate leader). And so he started to make a plan. He purposely pretended to work for the new leader, making sure that they trusted him completely. It worked, and he was able to escape into Ezazia where he put his next plan phase into action. Of course, he was kind of side-tracked when he met this small group of kids. Faith, Owen, Blythe, and Brooklyn. They had just made a group called The Uprising, and Levi saw it as an opportunity to gain powers faster. Joining the group, he quickly gained the trust of everyone but Faith in particular, which he was excited about because she was one of the leaders. At this point he worked as a double agent, telling the forgotten fantasy leader he was spying and working with The Uprising. Very early after he joined, the main four shared the prophecy with the group. Levi instantly knew this was his chance to take over the forgotten fantasies and soon befriended Faith. However, almost immediately after this movement he began to greatly dislike Owen. The boy knew way to much, he felt, and would surely figure out his real plans.
After the forgotten fantasies (the small group with magic still that could get through) convinced Faith to join them, Levi instantly went to work trying to get rid of Owen. He tried practically everything, but once Faith came back he knew it was no use trying. He needed her, after all, to use her gifted powers as mentioned in the prophecy to defeat the forgotten fantasies so that he could take over. Unfortunately, Owen now majorly suspected him and after a meeting between the three of them, he told Faith his suspicions. To his advantage, Faith didn't believe him. Levi was then able to convince Owen to go somewhere with him (still haven't decided on where), and trapped him. Without him in The Uprising, he was able to take over the group.
While Faith and Blythe were busy with the second prophecy, Levi was working very hard to lead The Uprising and plan his attack on the forgotten fantasies. Still, no one had suspected him yet. Quite often he would go and see Owen. After realizing the boy could enter Faith's dreams (because he's her imaginary friend), he began having him gather information from the girl. At first it was extremely difficult to get any information at all, but eventually Levi resorted to his special power. Mind reading. He quickly gained information. To cover up his disappearance, he would say that he was looking for any signs of forgotten fantasy development. He almost always came back with one, but they were all created by him. He was hoping that this would 'activate' Faith's given powers so that he could take over the forgotten fantasies.
By the time Faith found the card ('Evil' was to represent his true self and the phoenix feather represented Owen) and confronted him, Levi had already taken over the forgotten fantasies. Unfortunately for him, he would never get his revenge on everyone (though at this point specifically Owen who he had grown to hate).
Side Plot #2
While everything is going on with Faith, as well as Levi, Owen is having his own problems as well. This mainly is before Faith remembers him, starting after she blocks out the memories of them together. At this point in his life, Owen did not know what to do. His whole life was devoted to protecting Faith, but how could he when he had no connection to her? Not really sure what to do, he kept trying to contact her, but it was starting to prove impossible. With Faith blocking out the memories, she was also blocking out any form of communication. Because of this, he eventually gave up and decided to go to Burnspring. He knew that it was rare for imaginary friends, like himself, to be in Ezazia and not the dream realm, but he thought that maybe the leader could help him out.
It took a little bit to get there, but once he reached the town his prediction was correct. They were utterly shocked and confused that an imaginary friend could survive outside of the dream realm. At first they weren't sure how to him, as they were still unsure about the young boy. However, they gave him a place to stay while they tried to figure out what to do. During this time Owen was still worried about Faith. He knew she would need a friend when she moved, but he was still struggling with the fact that it couldn't be him.
Eventually, they leader and other people in Burnspring came to the decision that Owen was half-fantasy, where they are imaginary friends that almost have two lives. Meaning, if their 'person' were to forget about they would not fade, like other imaginary friends. Rather, it would seem lie they had a whole other life. Shocked at the news, but thankful that they had figured it out, Owen asked again if there was anything he could do to help protect Ezazia. The night before, he had made the decision that if he couldn't protect Faith, he would protect Ezazia which in a way would be protecting her world as well. At first they refused, but he asked again. Like the last time, they refused. They were about to ask him to leave when he remembered something. The night that Faith started blocking out the memories, the night this all started. He immediately told them about what had happened, and they were just as shocked as when they met him. After a little conversing with the council (made up of all the leading or highest ranking people in Burnspring), the leader almost reluctantly agreed to let the boy help them.
He was beyond excited, but in the back of his mind he wondered if he and Faith would ever meet again.
After getting his first assignment, which was to gather as much information as possible about what was going on, he quickly set out in search of clues. It was slow going at first, as he didn't really know what he was looking for, but eventually he started discovering things.
And so it became a ritual. He would search for information and bring it back to Burnspring. Eventually, the council began to trust him as he reported more and more. One day after Owen had given them a bunch of information, the council began to worry. Something was oddly familiar and as they were beginning to piece together the information. After a lot of figuring, they eventually came to a decision. That the forgotten fantasies had returned. Owen instantly knew this meant danger, even though he didn't know that much about Ezazia yet. Deciding it was the only way to help, he quickly learned all that he could about the forgotten fantasies.
It wasn't long after this that something completely unexpected happened. He found himself seemingly floating in the air. A girl was laying there, whether asleep or not he could not tell. But despite this, he instantly knew who it was. Faith. Having not seen her in years, he wondered if she would remember him, but his question was soon answered as she woke up. She looked a little panicked, and her confused look when she saw him instantly told him that she did not remember. It was really disappointing for him, but he decided to deal with that after they figured out where they were. He had never seen a place like this before, but he had a suspicion of where they might be (maybe it is possible to hear both sides, Creorus and Ezazia, from the void but it is not clear so you can't hear specific conversation and things like that). He wasn't sure how long they were there, but one day he woke up and he was back in Ezazia.
Faith was no where to be seen.
It was at things point that he realized that he needed Faith's help. She had told him that there was a prophecy or something, but he needed her to tell him what it was so that they could figure it out. Deciding to go and get her and bring her back to Ezazia with him, he soon found her. At first she was extremely unhappy, and for a moment he thought that she would refuse. But after a little persuading he finally got her to come. It was almost enjoyable, being back with her, but he still was trying to think of a way for her to remember him. While he thought about this, he tried to get her to tell him what the prophecy was. It took a little bit, but eventually he did. He was still trying to figure out how to get her to remember him when she woke up in the middle of the night. She seemed a little panicked at first, but Owen was overjoyed that she had finally remembered him.
Now with that job down, for the rest of the book his main job was to protect her. He didn't want anything like that one night where she blocked everything out to happen again.
