@River Dewlight / @Xailah Alptraum
Peri pushed himself on with the mantra that there was more to the game than exercise and tactic. SWAG was strengthening, yes, but not just where one's magic was concerned. It strengthened bonds, and individuals forced to face their fears. River had gracefully succumbed to her fate, but from Pericles' perspective, that did not mean he had to leave her to it. The young heir could imagine the raw frustration she felt, falling from her own spell. Letting her hit the ground would just be adding... injury to insult? Her eyes were closed with surrender, his narrowed in concentration behind goggles. Realizing there was a chance he may not reach her in time, Pericles called out her name, barking "River!" above the whipping wind. A hand was reaching, fingers extended, straining against glove leather. If he could just get her to reach back.... Finally, his hand found her shoulder. With a backwards lean Peri pulled the Silver Arrow unto an upwards curve, and not a moment too soon. River was scooped from the sky, sitting sideways in front of its flyer.

The broom slowed to a stop once the boy dug his heels into its stirrups. As soon as they stopped, he held out a hand to help her down, meaning to hurry back into the fray as soon as he was certain she'd found her footing. "There you are!" Peri panted breathlessly, pitch near an octave higher from the exhilarating chase. "Don't you mind a little malfunction- that was just last match's win catching up to you. That'll mean better luck next game, yes?" One could only imagine the impact this game may have on the next. He supposed Xailah may give him a gentle ribbing later on for choosing to save their doomed teammate rather than contribute to the play. But no- he was wrong about his friend, and gladly so. Xailah called down to him*, one pale finger jutting like a lighthouse's beacon, pointing the way to his stranded aspen. Catching his breath with a gasp, Pericles promptly bolted towards it. He glided over the grass at an alarming rate, leaving it rustling wildly in his wake. The wand was pointed away from him. He could pluck the thing from the dirt without risking damage, assuming he wasn't driven down into the dirt along the way....

She missed again! Serena gripped her wand and went for a third attempt. Well, she was about to when she witnessed the boy get caught in another spell - one involving fire?! She quickly raised her wand to cast the extinguishing spell instead. Luckily, they quickly extinguished before she had to do anything. Serena sighed. No one should have been using fire here. Why was Hogwarts full of budding arsonists? They should be concerned. She was in her fourth year now and could not recall a single event where fire was not used by some stupid kid. It was so worrying.

Deciding that Alan probably had been through enough just based on that, even though it was only a small hit, she turned her attention to the other fourth year in the skies. It was not one that she knew particular well but she had seen her around the school on occasion. They shared classes, did they not? Perhaps. Serena really ought to pay more attention to these things. Nonetheless, she aimed at her instead. Gripping her broom with one hand, she leaned forward and zipped through the skies until she could get in range. Once she was close enough, she quickly raised her wand hand up towards the Gryffindor Prefect, "Expelliarmus!" She called out, hoping to disarm her instead.

Deciding to take his coat off in the middle of the game was a bad idea. Cassandra, the hot-headed no pun intended girl that he'd met on the train decided that it was a good idea to cast Incendio on him. What the hell was she thinking?! Was she trying to kill him?

Panic set in, and Eyre realized that he had no time to evade the blazing fireball that was heading his way. He closed his eyes tightly and gripped onto his broom with clenched knuckles, bracing himself for the excruciating pain that was in store for him. Right as it was about to hit, however, the intimidating boy from earlier did him a favor and threw himself in front of the attack. Once the strong breeze extinguished the flame before it was able to do any real damage to him, Eyre whooped out in celebration.

"Thank you!" He cheered with a massive grin on his face. He flew a bit closer to him, making sure that he was still on guard as they talked. "I'm indebted to you. You're a real one!" Eyre enthused. As he was surveying the scene, he saw a girl become immobilized. The opportunity to strike was too easy to pass up.

"...Let me know if you need anything from me, mate." He told him in a rush, before zooming past him and over to his next potential target.

Xailah didn't know the full extent of Rubys anger. She could really, only tell that the snake was... off. There was a lot of negative energy brewing around the child. But it didn't bother her- whatever Ruby was going through, they could work through it together. Ruby didn't need to be alone. She didn't need to fall into the trap she was making for herself- like Xailah had. Xailah could relate on a personal level, as far as negative emotions were concerned. She was a negative person, a beast by nature- but the lack of a gentle hand, and a shoulder to cry on, had caused her grow bitter over the years. An absence of affection could do horrible things to a growing child. But despite being a pessimist, she too believed that the game could be flipped in favor of the prefects. Why couldn't it be? Their chance of winning was just as good as everyone else's- if not better. They were working as a team, and from what she could tell, they were one of the few that were. Xailah smiled gently, nodding to Ruby. "I think we can turn this around too." They might have been one prefect down- but that could be incentive to try harder. Incentive to avenge their fallen teammate.

Golden eyes quickly scanned the field of play. The iridescent sheen of her slotted pupils, bounced desperately, in search of a splinter of aspen wood. It wouldn't for her to find the wand. She would identify something pale, falling. She locked onto the thing, not wanting to lose sight of it. Once Pericles finished playing knight, and succeeded in lowering River to the ground safely; Xailah would call out to him. There was no reason to rib him, helping River was still a contribution to the game- despite being eliminated, River was still part of their team, was she not? "Hey, Pericles-" She shouted, snickering violently. A shrouded finger jutted in the direction of the fallen wand. "I found your wand. Best grab it before sssomeone else does."

She held her pose long enough, for the blonde bird to see exactly where the pale wood was. "Try not to lose it again, yes? Because I will be the one taking it, if you do. And you won't be getting it back." She made a grabbing motion with her hands, slender fingers wiggling. She would watch for a moment, to make sure he was at least going in the right direction. Turning for a second she would look at all the other faces in the pitch. Somehow May was still on her broom. Xailah could have sworn that she saw Ruby hit her again. The badger must have had buttocks of steel, or something. Xailah would see two other faces, both were directed towards the metamorph. Xailah arched her brow disapprovingly, at the boy- Flash. He and another fourth year, were going to try and eliminate her. Xailah wasn't going to make that an task easy for them. She would try to evade both incantations.

The Hufflepuff kept reassuring herself this was a game, but she sensed Ruby's anger, and it did not make her feel any better. Xailah didn't, of course, cast Petrificus Totalus because of anger, but merely because May was attacking her best friend, yet Ruby did it because of the incident in the corridors, when they bumped into each other and the Slytherin Prefect wasn't in a good mood. Well, I got unlucky. May thought. I guess my luck is going down and down now.

It seemed like Flash Holmwood was trying to get Xailah off her broom, somewhat making May feel grateful. What didn't reassure her was that someone-a prefect- had been eliminated from the game too fast, May thought. And nobody is targeting Ruby huh? Well, it seems that when I get out of this mess I will-

But something cut her off her wheel of thoughts. May felt as thought she was going to fall of again, her broom tilting off almost going upside down and the feeling of a kick in the back hitting her full on. YOU UGLY LITTLE-

May's anger toward Ruby Cazares right now was intense, almost unbearable. She wanted to shout at her, jinx her with Incendio, cast the body-bind curse to her instead and make her feel what it feels to be petrified. But still one round. At least she hadn't fallen off her broom.

Alan was flying at full speed to catch the spell and knew he was successful when he saw the familiar red element that started lapping at his collar, singing both his skin and leaving a hole in his shirt. The Gryffindor would hiss in pain, biting his teeths together as the air seethed through them. The burn quite painful but Alan was happy nonetheless that it had hit him rather than a first year; he was older than most on the pitch and he could take it. But he hoped nonetheless that he would never have to experience it again. And once again at the thought of fire, his thoughts wandered to Ruka inevitably as he remembered all of the burning scars that littered his arms and Alan couldn't help but wonder how he could deal with the pain. He shook his head, shoving those thoughts away as he had a game to focus on.

For now Alan would have to focus on the game and hope that he was not hit by any more spells. He remembered two of the people that have been trying to hit him with a spell which were Serena and a girl he did not know. There was also the purple haired girl but she had been called off the pitch by Aurelia due to her foul move. Seeing as Serena was the bigger threat of the two girls the Gryffindor would utter another incantation. It was a spell used to make objects fall and move towards the ground. He had no idea how it would affect the game but he was assuming it would allow an easier out than a knockback jinx and possible less painful too. His decision was made, now he only had to succeed.

Ruby would cast Flipendo at May another time, but she would be deprived of the satisfaction of seeing the girl go down. The spell freezing her in place seemed to guarantee that the Knockback Jinxes wouldn't do anything to her for the moment besides hurt a little and irk her, but no matter, she had now learned that it didn't work. The look of rage in the Hufflepuff's eyes was enough to tell Ruby that she had made her point and didn't need to waste any more time on the girl if it wouldn't even do anything. With a final look of haughty disgust, she turned away, gaze darting around the rest of the pitch. Pericles had gone after River, saving her from a nasty fall. Xailah seemed to have found his wand and pointed it out for him.

However, it seemed the Gryffindor prefect who Ruby was fond of was being targeted. She located the sources—one of them being the boy who was talked about earlier. What had his name been…? Racking her brains, she frowned slightly until she came up with an answer. Flash. His name was Flash. It was a shame that it had to come to this so soon. She would have liked to have met him under different circumstances. But the regret only lasted for so long until it gave way to the standard coldness. “Flipendo,” she cast, aiming at the boy. He had targeted her friend and regardless of whether it actually hit the Gryffindor or not, that made him a target of hers. Besides, she needed someone more interesting to target than May.

A jet of light shot past her, but swerved miles off target. The Gryffindor whipped her head around to see the boy that had attempted to Flipendo her become the victim of a blazing fireball. Scarlett sucked in a breath as she glanced in the direction of the fireball and saw a familiar purple-headed girl. Cash? Why was Cash blatantly grabbing the rules and smashing them into pieces? Now, Scarlett was all for breaking rules. But there were dhampirs here. Scarlett decided vengeance wasn't needed as she winced at the fire and turned her rickety school broom round, just as a flash of brown caught her eye.

In an instant, Scarlett was twisting and turning down towards her wand - her wand! - hand outstretched to grab it like a Seeker trying to grab a Snitch. Of course, Scarlett was not a Seeker, and she was not Seeker material, so there was no saying to how this would play out. For now, hoping and praying was the solution as she reached out for her wand, her saviour, in this instance -

WHAM.

A shockwave, a blast, a force slammed into her with the power of a sledgehammer as all her breath was knocked out of her. Scarlett's grip tightened as she recognised the effect of a Flipendo, immediately knowing who was the caster of the jinx. Beckett. In a raging fury, Scarlett whirled around to see Anastasia, a cold gleam in her pretty brown eyes. Scarlett glared at her. When she got her wand - which would be soon, she could feel it - the third-year was the first person Scarlett would be coming for.

It wasn't long before Willow was able to claw her way out of the blindfold, ripping it off and throwing it away as if the mere existence of it disgusted her. She still wasn't moving, eyes rapidly blinking to readjust to seeing in the light again. She heard Flash before she really saw him talking about them being able to conquer anything. Her head nodded slowly, even after attacking him he was still loyal to her. Truly the best brother any one could ask for. "We can do this, yeah."

Her gaze moved from him to the battle field as he mentioned taking out the older students. It was logical in the sense that they were more powerful, and illogical in the sense of making herself a target to someone that was... more powerful. Slowly she got her broom moving again watching spells fly across the battlefield. She wanted to be calculating about this. She was hoping the star seeker on her Quidditch team wouldn't take it too hard when she pointed her wand at Serena and shouted out "Flipendo!" Willow could only hope that Serena was one that would leave betrayals of this kind on the Quidditch Pitch since they saw each other so much whether it be in the dorm or in practice.

River fell, her eyes closed on instinct, preparing herself for the impact of the ground below. She barely noticed the voice calling her name through the air as she suddenly felt a hand grasp her shoulder and she landed on something. Though it was definitely not the ground. She opened her eyes with confusion as they met the face of Pericles. He swiftly lowered to the ground and set her down. «Thank you», she sighed as her feet met the floor of the pitch. «Now go win this thing!», she said and smiled quickly to him as he set off back into the air. She turned around to walk over to the edge of the field where she wouldn’t be in the way. She sat down on the ground with a soft groan as the pain from her own spell started seeping in. Luckily it wasn’t worsened by the fall. Truthfully she was quite surprised anyone had turned to help her out, especially in the middle of a game like this. Pericles was kind, and he was aware of his priorities, which the red-head was very thankful for in this moment. So she sat there, observing the rest of the game as she tried to further process what had just happened.
