Lana carried the scissors by her side as she walked to the abandoned bathrooms, her heart pounding at an unusually fast rate. She turned the corner sharply, her shoes squeaking against the freshly waxed floors.
Why she felt the need to do this, she couldn't say. Maybe it was an identity crisis, maybe she had finally lost it.

"No.." She muttered, shaking her head as she walked. "I'm fine, truly-" Though the more she tried to convince herself she was okay, the more it registered that she wasn't.

Lana pushed open the door to the Abandoned Toilets, her eyes scanning over the broken and tattered sinks. She rushed towards the mirrors, her reflection staring back at her through the shattered glass. Her eyes were black, the bags under them heavy. She ran a hand through her hair, her fist gripping the scissors securely in the other.
A small drop of blood fell to the floor from holding the blades too tightly, though her expression kept still.

In a split second, she drew the scissors up towards her head, the blades centimeters away from cutting. She clamped down, a large piece of black hair falling softly to the ground. She exhaled quietly, a moment of relief falling upon her.

She begun to cut more, her hair now short and choppy. Despite how eager she'd been, it didn't look terrible. She smiled faintly in the mirror, dropping the scissors to the ground. They made a clang sort of noise as they fell, the sound echoing throughout the stalls.

She was now left to sit, staring at the scar on her palm.

Paisley had been to the abandoned toilets before, and she hadn't planned on going back any time soon. Some strange things had happened there to say the least. Toilets flushing on their own, noises, people being found in the stalls, it was all very strange and supernatural. She enjoyed the magical school for the most part, but the abandoned toilets were a different story.

Nevertheless, as she was passing them on the way to class, she felt a tugging in her stomach. There was more to be explored in there, wasn't there? Her inner Gryffindor shined through, and she felt the familiar need for adventure. She stopped in her tracks and stood a yard or two away from the door.

Then she heard a noise. Her past experiences within those lavatories brought her to the conclusion that there were definitely ghosts in there somewhere, and she had to do something about it. Who would be in the abandoned toilets at this hour? It was time for class, wasn't it? Looking at her watch, Paisley suddenly realized it wasn't. In fact, classes had ended several hours ago.

All thoughts of going to class out of her mind, Paisley hurried into the bathroom, her footsteps making barely a sound as she walked across the tile. She held her wand out in front of her, not at all comfortable with using it.

When she entered what she saw frightened her. There was a student in there-but they didn't look like a student at all. Their eyes were dark and shadowed, and blood ran down the hand. Bits of their hair was above the rest, and still more hair littered the ground around them. Paisley tucked her wand away and instead approached the student.

Her reflection in the mirror looked startled, and she quickly changed it to look as if this were perfectly normal. "Do you need a bandage for that?" she asked plainly. She didn't want to come across as rude, or mean, or annoying, but she easily could have.

Katrina had no homework and found herself wandering again. Then she heard it, the snap of scissors, coming from... the abandoned bathrooms? Curiosity piqued, the third year entered, hand against the pocket where her wand hid. At least, it sounded like scissors... it could have been anything really. A sword, some sort of spell, maybe the squeak of the broken sink handle.

When Katrina did enter the bathroom, she found a student what looked like clipping her bangs. Another student, Katrina vaguely recognized as Paisley or something, offering to bandage the cut on her hand, probably from reckless scissor cutting.

You do know that bangs are easier to cut when someone else does it. Unless you are going for the reckless angry cut, I mean.” Katrina’s voice echoed through the almost empty room.

Katrina had tons of experience when it came to hair. She was often styling it and dying it, messing around with new looks. She also knew that cutting hair was a pretty permanent thing and this girl was likely going to regret chopping off her bangs in a few moments.

Katrina left tending to the wound to the other girl, the brown haired one, and decided to help with the hair.

Katrina walked over to where the girl was and sat just past arm reach away. “Do you mind if I help it out a little? Even out what’s left of the bangs a little?” Her tone was a bit softer now, a little wary as the girl was close enough that she could lunge over if she wanted. Katrina took her responsibility of being a senior to them pretty seriously.

Lana stared blankly at the floor, not hearing the Gryffindor enter. She was visibly out of it, though she raised her head slowly at the sound of a voice. She made no facial expression, and instead glanced down back at her hand. There was certainly blood, though Lana didn't consider it to be an issue.

She wiped at the thick red liquid with her sleeve, standing up to meet the eyes of the girl in front of her. Despite how unusual the scene was, the young student seemed to be unfazed. Lana cocked an eyebrow, though she shook her head simply.

"I believe I'm fine." She said candidly, breaking eye contact to glance at the mess she'd made. It was quite a disarray around her, pieces of hair scattered around the bathroom, as well as a single pair of silver scissors lying still upon the cold tile floors.

She didn't know whether to walk out or question the girl. Both seemed pointless, as where would she go if she left? She had nowhere to be, and no one to talk to. Though this girl seemed much less than interesting, meaning she couldn't get a show out of her either.
She had reason to believe that the girl was concerned, as any rational person would be. Lana knew if she were to walk upon something like this, she'd leave without a word. Though this wasn't Lana we were talking about, and instead it was-

Her train of thought was then broken, her eyes now fixating on an older girl. She seemed to be looking at Lana quizzically as if she had made a huge mistake. Lana interpreted her tone as if she knew better than her, like she was incompetent or something.

She figured to ignore the girl, hopefully, the silence would answer the question for her. As she approached, Lana eyed her suspiciously, half-contemplating to move away.

"You, what's your name." She asked plainly, pointing a finger at the first girl directly. The question seemed more like a demand, though, not as a genuine question.

"Paisley." she responded, as if deflecting a blow with a sword. Her face had no difference in expression. Her eyebrows were set in a straight line, her jawbone relaxed. She had been prepared for this question, and she handled it quite well. If the girl would show no kindness, or even decency, neither would Paisley. "Paisley Brown." She added in her last name, just because it sounded nice.

At the same moment she said this she felt the nice facade come down. With a quick glance at the rude girl she could see who they were, and it all made sense. Of course they were like Dipper. She would have to watch out for this one. If she didn't get on their good side bad things would happen, just like they did with Wren. Paisley practically shuddered as she thought of that nuisance of a girl. She hoped that this girl was better than that, at least by a little. You could sink no lower than Little Dipper, it was the reason for their nickname, after all.

Paisley didn't say anything else to the girl, but instead eyed her suspiciously. She wondered who they were and why they were here, in the abandoned toilets, and most of all she wondered if they had any friends nearby. Or at all. Paisley said to herself. She nodded at the other Gryffindor, for the first time realizing they were there. What was their name again? Serena? "Hi." she said, not adding in anything more. There was nothing else she had to say.

"What about you? What's your name?" her voice was flat, almost monotone. She was good at keeping a straight face when she wanted. This statement was definitely more of a command than a question, but she kept her stance simple. She didn't want to look angry, just a bit...what was the word....menacing? Intimidating? Not like a little weakling? Yeah, that last one was definitely spot-on. She didn't want to look like a complete wimp.

Still, she maneuvered closer to her housemate instinctively. Something about this place-and this girl- gave Paisley the creeps. She definitely wanted to get out of here, but not before she fixed things. Something was definitely wrong here, and she had every intent of putting it right.

Paisley.

Paisley, paisley, paisley...

She muttered to herself, trying to associate the name to any possible connection she could have. Her name seemed to be unfamiliar, causing Lana to become uninterested in her name at all now. She then focused her gaze to the third year, the space between them a little too close.

She stepped away from the two casually, her eyes still stuck on the older female. She had seen her before, distinctively from the blue streak that appeared in her hair. Had she anything peculiar about her? Lana couldn't tell. Though if she did, she made sure she'd find out eventually.

She looked back to Miss Brown, her expression still stonefaced. She knew she was doing this on purpose, to potentially look intimidating in front of someone as ghastly as Lana. She'd seen it before, students trying to act as if they're at the same level as her. She knew this wasn't true, though, as no one would have to go through what Lana herself did. She was strong, and the others were all weak.

"Lana Monet." She replied shortly, adding onto the sentence. "Daughter of Lady Elizabeth, heir to the dark family."

The dark family, the bloodline most people feared years ago. Supporters of the dark lord, evil wizards and witches. Her name was powerful, a strong one at that. She knew most at this school would be unaware of their feats, yet she still flaunted it proudly.

Her eyes flicked to Katrina, finally choosing to speak to her. "And you are?"

Katrina realized several moments too late that she was being too motherly. If an older student had treated her like that, she would have immediately recoiled. Instead, Katrina regained some dignity and strode back over to the other girl, the lioness.

The feeling of awkwardness faded as the two of them exchanged names. Katrina almost laughed, almost. It was so unnatural to see two other people doing what she always did. They were both acting so conserved, so, in order to fit in some, Katrina masked her emotions as well, leaving with a slightly gentler expression than they both bore.

Paisley, the lioness, introduced herself and Katrina silently noted that she moved a bit towards her. Perhaps it was self preserving, after all, Katrina’s spell casting was a year higher than hers. Or perhaps it was just because they were both Gryffindor. Anyway, the small gesture meant a lot to her.

Katrina met Lana’s gaze as soon as it was set upon her. Since her gentle side had been effortlessly revoked, she instead went with a more reserved tactic, “Walker, Katrina Walker,” It was likely they would recognize her name from rumors, but Katrina was beyond caring at this point.

So, what spurred the new hair cut?” Katrina’s offer of helping the new do was still available. She kept that clear with the tone of her voice, but she was far more careful to keep from being any level of condescending. Maybe if she could get to the root cause she could help more than with the physical things.

Lana acted formal, though not for the sake of intimidation. This was just how she spoke, how she carried herself. Mysterious and chilling, one could describe her as. She knew she frightened them, even if they tried to mask it.

Though she couldn't help but feel as if these girls had the intention of helping her, giving her the feeling of being patronized. She was just fine, and even if she wasn't these two students surely wouldn't be of any help.

She currently had two options; she could walk away now, leaving them only to wonder about how deranged she was. Or she could stay, possibly frighten them more than she already had.

It was pointless really, conversing with them. They probably thought she'd been mad, in which case they'd be right. Though, still, something about them intrigued her, the way they hadn't run away yet.

Katrina Walker seemed more familiar, though she didn't bother with trying to rack her brain for information. Just a plain Gryffindor, she thought plainly.

It was only then that she noticed the amount of dry blood on her hand, the color now dark red almost brown.
"I did what I had to." Lana replied, her eyes locking with hers.

To be honest, she really had no reason as to why she'd done such a thing. It felt necessary, despite having perfect hair before. It felt unnatural to be pretty, therefore ruining her features felt almost like an obligation.
And although she didn't regret doing it, she wasn't as satisfied as she was moments ago. No, now she was back to the hate-filled Ravenclaw, the girl everyone knew to stay away from.

"Why are you both in here." She asked quietly, though not so faint where it was inaudible. She'd await their responses, knowing they wouldn't have good enough reasons anyway.

"Something's wrong." Paisley leaned against a sink, a plan coming to her mind and causing her to smile. It wasn't her usual naive smile, but one that could be taken as someone with a plan in mind. "You're upset. Why? You don't have to tell me, of course, but wouldn't it be wonderful to have an ally in the school?" it had become abundantly clear that the only way to this girl's head was through herself and her own thoughts of what were 'right'. How Paisley was going to do that was a different story.

Her plan had been to insult muggle borns, but it wasn't going to work. She couldn't bring herself ot say it. She just knew too many to be able to be that mean. It would feel as if it were a betrayal to everyone she knew.

"Tell me about your views on blood-status. You come from a pure-blooded family, don't you? It's confusing, trying to remember who likes and who doesn't like muggle borns and all that." she asked, hoping this would have the right effect, and not completely ricochet back to her. There was no telling what would happen; this girl was utterly unpredictable.

then Paisley turned to the other girl in the room. "What about you?" she asked. It was a simple sentence; there was nothing more to say anyhow.

Paisley was a person-reader. She tried to get glimpses of people's thoughts and emotions through body language and words, and most of the time she did. But this girl, Lana, wasn't it? Was like a window that refused to open. The shades were drawn, curtains were closed, there was no way to pry her way inside. Unless she used the ultimate tool of all: herself. So that was exactly what Paisley planned to do.
