It was Halloween. Bridget had limited memories of the holiday from her childhood, since her parents had never been particularly fond of it. There were far too many scary images running rampant around the holiday that they didn't want their young children to see, and they weren't too keen on their children getting a ridiculous amount of candy, so the Collins household never did much on October 31st. Halloweens at Hogwarts were quite fun, though, what with the marvelous feast held. It had also been the day of the Masquerade Ball last year, which was far from a pleasant memory, but Bridget was happy to replace it with memories of today.

She didn't know how she'd found time for helping run a club with everything else on her plate, but the time spent with her best friend was worth it. Today had been particularly busy, the two of them and Alan Vanes running around an empty classroom to hide all the clues and candy in preparation for the Scavenger Hunt. Luckily it was a Saturday and they didn't have classes to contend with. It was a little funny how she kept running into Alan through clubs, so perhaps now that they were both a part of the Scavenger Hunt Club's staff team they would get to know each other.

They were ready, and just in time for the arrival of the partcipants in this hunt. Alan's cat, Tiger, was curling around his owner's legs. Bridget glanced over their work one last time. There was the door, of course, already propped open to let the members in. Katrina was standing next to it so the members would know they'd found the right classroom. The room had plenty of furniture in it for hiding things as well as a pile of pumpkins and several ghosts (or really just white cloth hung from the ceiling), perhaps decorations or perhaps part of the hunt. The area to the right of the door wasn't very well-lit, she noted. An easy obstacle to overcome for anyone who knew the Wand-Lighting Charm. Professor Jensen was here as well for that very reason; they'd decided to incorporate magic usage into this hunt to make it a little more exciting and couldn't very well do that without a teacher present.

One by one the six people who would take part in the Halloween Hunt filed in. Once everyone was there, Katrina began her explanation. "Thank you all for coming. This hunt will be a little different from the last one. Instead of a race, you'll be trick-or-treating." The redhead paused, gesturing to the classroom's setup. "If you look around, there are clues. These clues will either lead you to a treat," she paused for emphasis. "Or a trick. The goal is to collect as much candy as you can in thirty minutes."

Katrina turned to Alan and Bridget, gave a nod, and announced, "Ready, set, go!" The Halloween Hunt had begun.
How This Works:
There are 12 sectors, as shown in the map above, and each contains one object/piece of furniture that is relevant to the hunt. You do not have to use an action to travel to a different sector; simply state what sector you're in. State your action like this:
Sector: C3
Action: Searching the small table for clues
To clarify, if you are searching one of the objects, the sector you are in has to correspond. The sector you're in also has multiple things that can be discovered with a wisdom roll that takes place each round. This is calculated with the result of a d20 plus your wisdom value. Critical failures are possible if the dice rolls a wand or someone has a race or ability that affects the critical fail range, but don't worry, no one will be stabbed as a result.
The dice roll is a 1-2 = The discovery roll is critically failed. A d3 will be rolled to see if your character takes a small amount of damage (reason up to the moderator), drops any keys or clues they're holding (you would have to spend the next round picking the dropped thing up), or is embarrassed from failing and suffers -2 wisdom on next round's discover roll.
The dice roll + wisdom value is 2-12 = Nothing happens. Nothing is discovered.
The dice roll + wisdom value is 12+ = Something is discovered. For each item in the room, there will be a certain number of objects they could discover (the number is shown in the parenthesis in the sector). Using tatsu, the moderator will have it choose one of the discoverable objects. Some of these discoverable objects are tricks, some are treats, and some lead you to a trick or treat.
The dice roll is a 18-20 = The discovery roll is critically successful. You discover all objects in that sector.
Spells that can be used (casting a spell requires a round's action):
Lumos - Cancels out the effects of dark areas and when used in light areas gives your current sector and all directly adjacent sectors +2 wisdom on discovery rolls.
Alohomora - Can be used to unlock locks without finding a key.
Note: No offensive spells can be used for any reason. Any spells cast to harm another student will automatically backfire.
Abilities and Races are not in effect.
Shaded areas mean that sector is dark. This area has -2 wisdom on discovery rolls. This debuff can be countered by casting Lumos or discovering a lamp.

Mentioning @Katrina Walker and generally all the others
When Katrina, who she recognized from their meeting in the Leaky Cauldron, mentioned treats, Miranda perked up. She didn't have too much of a sweet tooth, but given the proximity to Halloween, it couldn't be too bad to indulge a bit. But then came the twist. There was always a twist, wasn't there? It seemed every competition she entered had one.

Tricks. Even though the idea was clearly unexciting, there was a slight thrill at the challenge. And, of course, trying to figure out how a trick would work. Were they going to get hit by spells? Or was it something else? The room offered no clues from her current vantage point, much to Miranda's disappointment. But what would the fun be in not having a challenge? As long as nothing too horrible happened, that is...

Katrina gave the go ahead to begin looking, but Miranda didn't move at first. She surveyed the room, mainly paying no attention to the other competitors as she tried to focus. She only recognized half of them after all, and while meeting new people was always interesting, she felt a bit out of place already without having to add that. Where were the riddles, after all? The puzzles and questions she was usually so good at? Instead there was this...trick or treating. Which, don't get her wrong, was still a fun way to pass the time, but it wasn't what she specialized in. Oh well. Miranda would do her best to adapt.

Many items dotted the room, but, being the Ravenclaw she was, Miranda made a beeline for the bookshelf. It didn't really look like it could hide much, but maybe she'd come up lucky. Surely everything had to have at least one thing near it, right?

Henry rather took his time to the classroom as he let his thoughts wander else where. The month was October and shorty it will be Halloween, a holiday for both muggle and wizarding children alike to celebrate and have fun during it. Henry however couldn't remember many memories of Halloween when he was a child, he had a few from when he was six and a bit younger but after his min died that when the memories of trick or treating and Halloween fun stopped. His older brother was at Hogwarts during it and his father spent hours at the ministry, so the boy was left with just how twin to spend the night with. A year or two ago, Henry remembered going trick or treating in godric hollow with his twin but after they moved to the liverpool a week after their 10th birthday that had stopped to so when Henry got to Hogwarts he didn't have high hopes for the holiday even though his brother would always tell him how great Halloween's at Hogwarts was.

Last year the bot experienced his first Halloween at Hogwarts and it was pretty amazing according to the boy especially the feast, however he heard about the events at the ball which put him on edge this halloween a bit more than the rest maybe since he skipped out on the ball last year mostly because he was a anxious and shy first year, which was a good move to say something but this year he will be attending the ball. Henry actually didn't want to but he figured he should since Miranda and him were going together and now that some things have changed, he rather be at the ball just in case something did happen.

Henry entered the classroom and looked around to find the hosts of the event, mainly third years that Henry didn't know. He did however spot Alan Vanes who was a third year he seen one or twice before, Henry quickly looked at the girl by the door, whom Henry guessed was the founder of the scavenger hunt club; Katrina Walker, as Henry quickly spoke " sorry that I'm I late," before Henry walked to the center of the room where the others get assumed stood. Henry also recognized his head of house there to as he listen to Katrina talk about the hunt, in which Henry noticed the other third year there but couldn't recall a name so he figured that he probably never seen her around since they were in different years but he couldn't help but find her familiar to him but then he remembered when he saw her and couldn't help but let a glint of shiny green escape from his jacket. To most that would mean nothing but for some that meant something.

Looking around at the other participants, Henry noticed that most of the others he knew as he gave a quick hello to Robert, " hey Robert," before glancing over at Miranda and just smiling at her before looking away feeling awkward. Then there were the two that he didn't recognized, both girls and both looked to be second years like him. Still no matter when Katrina announced the start of the hunt, Henry would say to the rest of the participants in a normal voice " good luck everyone then."

Walling around the room, he stopped real quick to say hi to Alan when he was close to him, Henry did like him mainly because he found the third year kind and easy to talk to as he spoke " hey Alan, are you going to offer any help to anyone," that last part was meant as a joke as he laughed a bit before pointing to the pumpkins and heading there but that's when he saw a friend who he enjoyed bickering with; Heather.

Henry couldn't help but smile at the blonds hair ravenclaw as he spoke " I didn't suspect to find you here ravenclaw," ravenclaw the nickname that he gave her the day they first met last year, " I don't think height will help you this time ravenclaw, looks like you have to rely on your smarts and cunning to win this."

Henry approached the pumpkins and leaned down as he begun to search them before speaking again to Heather " what do you think these tricks are anyway Heather?"

Robert had mixed feelings about Halloween. He had never been one of those people to enjoy getting scared, but the free candy was quite nice. Because of this, he had always been the type of person to spend Halloween night dressing up in a costume and begging strangers for candy, rather than staying at home and watching a horror movie. Reminded of that now, he was determined to find as many treats and as few tricks as possible. Surveying the room, he tried to find somewhere to search that didn't already have people there that might have already found the things hidden, but also seemed as un-spooky as possible. The whole left corner of the room was obviously out of the question, being darker than the rest, as was the pumpkin pile and bookshelf that already had people there. Recognizing the one by the pumpkin pile as Henry, he waved back. "Hey, Henry, how are you?"

Continuing to look around, he saw a rug in the middle of the room, a couple "ghosts," and a small table. He couldn't imagine candy being hidden under a rug, at least no candy that he would want to eat, and while the ghosts seemed pretty harmless, they still seemed more likely to hold tricks than the table. Nodding to himself, he walked over to the small table and began inspecting it. Firstly, he looked at the space around the table for any sort of them. Satisfied with what he'd found, he then started looking at the top of the table, followed by getting down on his knees and looked under. Noting anything taped to the bottom, he also tried to gauge whether or not there was a drawer, hidden or otherwise, that might hold something. Lastly, he inspected the legs, knocking on each of them to see if they were hollow.

Honestly, over the past two years, her reputation as being the cold, scary professor was getting dragged through the mud. Why students came to her for such things, she would never know. She clearly was not stern enough if they came to her with some event ideas and she agreed to supervise these things, even though she had her own mountain of work to do. Perhaps she needed to work on that... Say no more often. But... After everything that seemed to happen to the students, how could she really say no? They deserved a bit of fun. And if there was one thing that she had learned, it was that the wand-lighting charm can literally save your life here at Hogwarts. Who knew light was so powerful?

Hjørdis figured that these sorts of activities would provide fun whilst also giving them additional practice time with spells that apparently can save their life. It was a win:win situation. Well, as long as they behaved. Of course, that did not mean she wanted to be disturbed, however. The Head of Slytherin sat on in the far corner on some random furniture that may or may not have been a part of the hunt, as far away from all of the noise and children as possible with a book in her hand, a pen in the other to take notes with and a small notebook in her lap.

She was paying very little attention to the students, trying to drown them out. However, occasionally, she'd look up her book and observe, just to make sure they were not causing any trouble. But as long as they were not dying, she expected not to be disturbed. Hell, even if she was sitting on top of an object that they wanted, she was not to be disturbed. Hopefully today would just go smoothly, they would have their fun and then everything could be cleaned up and she could go. If she had to actually intervene, there would likely be hell to pay for whichever fool made her intervene in the first place.
OOC: Just throwing a post up to say she's present. If you need an interaction, tag me. Otherwise, assume she just leaves after the event is over + cleaned up.

Spooky season. While she'd never been the one to be overly excited about the holiday, Heather didn't dislike it, but rather never experienced a Halloween to be remembered. Back when they lived in Italy (and her father was still alive), the following two days- First and Second of November, held a much bigger meaning. Those are the days when the population of Italy commemorates their deceased loved ones. Even though they weren't sure where, or how was Carmen, Mr. Moretti always used to light up a candle for his sister during those times. Sorrowfully, Heather noted that she, too, should at least pay a prayer for her father this year. But, instead of holding hope that he was somewhere alive, she knew for sure how his fate turned out to be.

Finding the classroom, after an excruciatingly long search around the castle, she greeted Katrina Walker, who had been waiting at the door to greet the students. She'd recognized the older Gryffindor as the leader of the Scavenger Hunt Club- as she recalled when she signed-up for it. "Hello! Here's the Halloween Hunt taking place, right?" Without waiting for an answer, the girl entered the old, abandoned classroom. It was decorated adequately- with pumpkins and cloths which should resemble ghosts placed around. Heather liked that- it gave away the spirit of Halloween, but also an aura of fun; not overly spooky, so that everyone could enjoy it. While she wasn't the first to arrive, the girl gleefully noticed that she wasn't the last, either.

Glancing around, Heather took notice of two older students- a Slytherin and a Gryffindor- who were presumably helping with organizing the hunt, and then she noticed Professor Jensen. Greeting them all, the Ravenclaw then turned her gaze towards the other participants. Noting who of her acquaintances were there, she saw Miranda, her fellow Ravenclaw, and friend.

"Hey, Stellina," she smiled at her, using the nickname she'd given her during their first meeting. "Ready to find some candies?" Next, she took notice of Henry Knight, one of her closest friends. They started off on a wrong foot last year, but after the summer they've gotten closer than Heather would have believed at first. She was glad- Henry was a good child, and an even better friend. Nodding towards him, the blonde walked towards him.

"Hey there, it seems like our paths cross again." She said, jokingly. "I don't think height will help you this time, Ravenclaw, looks like you have to rely on your smarts and cunning to win this." "Sounds like you don't believe me to be adequate to take part in the hunt? Shall we make a bet then? Who'll find more candies today." Heather mused, letting out a quick grin. Then, on a more serious note, she added: "Honestly now, I signed-up for this hunt mainly because... I want to prove to myself that the hat didn't make a mistake when placing me in Ravenclaw? I guess," she said, wishing to add something more before she heard Katrina beginning to speak and explaining to them how everything would take place today.

After the Gryffindor finished talking and everyone started wandering around the room, Heather's attention was quickly caught by two, beautiful paintings placed in a corner (A4). Moving closer to them, her eyes started to wander over the texture of the canvas, silently enjoying the way colors combined. Then, her eyes moved from the framed paintings to the surrounding around them, in search of anything that could be of use.

It was Halloween. Oh, how she loved this day. The costumes, the sweets, everything about today was wonderful and spooky. The Roberts family had always gone all out for this holiday, once they even painted a skeleton on their door.

Sadly, this year everyone's spirits weren't that high. There certainly had been a lot of negative energy going around and it was slowly nagging into Aurelia.

Still, Halloween at Hogwarts was something special. With the decorated great hall and the delicious feast, there was always something fun to look forward to.

Ah- her stomach was already growling. Only a few more hours. But first, there was somewhere she was expected.

A few weeks ago she had signed up for something called the Scavenger Hunt Club. Now was finally the day she would go on her first game. Hopefully, it would bring her mood up a little.

Aurelia walked into the supposed meeting place and greeted Katrina at the entrance. It was decorated nicely for the occasion and she couldn't wait to get started. A couple of other students had gathered as well and she announced her presence with a quick:"Good luck everyone"

Then, she found her way towards a certain pumpkin pile that had been drawing her attention. Her fingers slid through the grooves and she was thinking of tactics. She wasn't searching for anything in particular, but she knew there must be something.

None of the participants in the Halloween Hunt wasted much time in getting started. A few welcoming remarks were exchanged, but otherwise everyone started looking around. With plenty to explore and the clock ticking, the sooner they started, the better. Bridget, Alan, and Katrina had retreated to the back of the room, sitting around a table. From here they were out of the way but available should anyone need any help. Should anyone ask, there wasn't a secret stash of candy hidden at the table; in fact, there was nothing around them (OOC: Sector B4 has nothing to be discovered).
Sector A2:
Miranda Everest would make her way towards the bookshelf, a Ravenclaw at heart is seemed, drawn to the books. However, it wouldn't be books she noticed, but rather a mirror on the top shelf. This was a Scavenger Hunt, so Miranda decided to see if the mirror itself was a hiding spot. It was. Prying the corner of the frame open, she would discover a candy prize, the first treat of the hunt.
Sector A3:
While most of the participants decided to split up, Henry Knight and Aurelia Roberts would decide to investigate the same thing. It was hard to tell whether or not they were working together, but maybe they had the right idea. It was Halloween, after all, so surely the pumpkins hid something.

Once they got to the pumpkins, though, they decided to investigate different things. Henry would turn the pumpkins around and be met with a gaping hole; the pumpkin had been carved to display a rather grotesque face and Henry hadn't found any candy. Aurelia took a different approach, instead counting the pumpkins. In instances like this, every detail could be important. There were fourteen pumpkins, but what did that mean? Was it some sort of clue or had she just wasted her time counting?
Sector A4:
Heather Blair Moretti decided to check out the paintings. It was a good train of thought; the painting itself could hold some sort of clue and something could be behind the frames. However, Heather was either unlucky or didn't have a very good eye, because she didn't find anything whatsoever. At least she got to admire the pretty paintings.
Sector C3:
While the other participants clung to the right wall, Robert Toukmond decided to journey to the other side of the room. He chose quite the logical thing to investigate--a table could hide plenty of things. He would notice something on the table leg. Upon closer look, it was a creepy face that had been etched into the wood.
Conclusion:
Bridget watched the participants investigate the room. One of the girls, the shorter of the two blonde Ravenclaws, had located a piece of candy, but no one else had found a treat. The hunt was only just beginning though, and there was plenty of time left on the clock.

Henry would smile at Robert before saying " I'm fine and you mate," Henry would then start searching the pumpkins but not before he would say to Robert " good luck mate but with your brains I'm sure you find something," as Henry begun to search he noticed Heather examine the paintings and listened ad she talked before speaking himself " prove? I think you already proved yourself to be a ravenclaw Heather. I mean you did pick up on something about me during our second meeting last year," Henry hinted to the night they broke into the library last year and she halfway figured out that he was a werewolf but he wasn't about to say that since not everyone in that room knew about his secret.

Henry would reached in the pumpkins as he saw another girl also seemed to be searching the pumpkins as well, however he would feel a hole but sadly no candy, just a horror looking face that was actually quite good. Henry would get up and join Heather by the paintings before he would lower his voice a bit as he spoke " what about if we team up instead ravenclaw?" Henry posed her the question and for some reason hoped that she would say yes as he continued " with our smarts and cunning combine I'm sure we'll make an bloody brilliant team," Henry would smiled at Heather before laughing a bit running an relaxed hand through his hair.

Henry would look around the room for a while when he saw that Miranda was examining the book shelve and couldn't tell but seemed to have found something, anyway Henry would look back at Heather as he joked " can you see anything from up there Heather or does height really do have no advantage here," he playfully and lightly pushed his shoulder onto hers before looking around again and trying to decided where they would hide candy.

Seeing the dark corner, he would lightly elbow Heather in the side as he spoke " dark corner in a well lit room, seems like a good spot to a hide a treat," then regretting saying that Henry then spoke " or a wicked place to hide a trick but what's the risk," Henry would then advanced to the dark corner and until he was surrounded by the darkness, Henry would pulled out his wand and muttered " lumos," as he lit his wand and prepared himself for what he will find.
