Walking into the Library, Siobhán didn't know where to start. She knew P for plants would be a good option, but also H for Herbology. Both she and Katie wanted to research why the plants had talked to them. It was such a weird phenomenon to Siobhán that she didn't know where to start. Then there's their prank idea. Waiting for Katie would be a good idea. Katie had wanted to come to the Library, primarily for homework purposes, but Siobhán hoped that when she was finished, they could research a little.
Siobhán had brought her favorite book with her to read while Katie did her homework. Although the book was by a muggle author, she loved it all the same; Pride and Prejudiced. It took many tries for her to fully understand the book and what it meant.
Prejudice, something that people are judgmental about without fully understanding or have experienced. The same could be said for the Blood Supremacists still about. They have not experienced what it is like to be of lesser blood, therefore their opinion is highly unjustified. There are muggle-borns in history that are even stronger than pure bloods.
Pride, a feeling that one can feel over one's personal achievements, but also a deep rutted respect for one's own personal views that are hard to change. If a pure blood is suppose to hate muggle borns, as they were raised to do, then no one can change their minds and they will do so with pride. Unless they are such as Siobhán and her friend, Katie.
Siobhán sat down in a cubicle, placing her book on the table in front of her. Katie and herself came from pure blood families, Katie's parents more sever than Siobhán's, but blood supremacists all the same. Siobhán and Katie want to be different than their parents. Siobhán knows that all magical blood is the same, even if some comes from muggles. She believes that even muggles are magical, they just don't have the ability to use it such as witches or wizard's do, but sometimes, their children can. Siobhán opened up the book to the page she left on and started to read while she waited for Katie to appear.

Katie arrived in the library, frowning. I'm so sorry! Katie cried helplessly. Your journal, it's ruined she said, holding up the coffee soaked journal tastters. Some obnoxious girl bumped into me in the hallway. My hot coffee spilled. I'm so sorry. she moaned. Katie was beyond upset with the girl who'd caused her drink to spoil, but the weight of the loss of their notes was hitting her harder at the present moment.
She plopped down into a chair beside Siobhán in defeat, salt setting the marred journal in front of them. I tried to salvage what I could, but I had just poured that coffee not a minute earlier. It burned through all the pages, and I had troubles rescuing the cover from being in any condition. she slid the journal over to Siobhán, so that she could see the extent of the damage done for herself.
Katie just couldn't believe people at times. Today already felt like it was of to an awful start. Herbology homework? Katie asked, looking at the different plant and herbology booms that Siobhán had gathered and stacked up on the desk. She had to prioritize her potions homework herself, but potions and herbology were similar. Maybe they would help either study today.

I'm not technically finished with my hallway thread, but it's only going to be insults for the rest of it, so... Oh well!

Siobhán jumped when Katie came rushing in and apologizing. She certainly hadn't expected it. Then her journal was dropped down in front of her. While Katie was explaining what happened to it, Siobhán picked it up carefully and inspected it. The leather was in bad shape, but it could easily be repaired if sent to the right person. The pages, however, Katie was right. There was no fixing those.
"It's all right, Katie. No need to be worried. In fact, you can stop looking so stressed out about it and calm down," Siobhán smiled at her. "The best thing about this journal is that it's enchanted with a spell my mother learned while working. If I write in this one," Siobhán pointed to the mostly ruined journal," it will appear in this one. It's a pretty clever spell if you want to do a secret communications device."
Siobhán reached into her bag and grabbed the other completely undamaged journal. "See? No harm done. What I wrote in that one is perfectly safe in this one. I can easily get the damaged one replaced." She held the journal out for Katie to take so that she may see if what Siobhán said was true for herself.
"Anyway, all these other books aren't for my homework, or yours actually. They're for our research. After you're done with your homework, I thought we could see if we could find why the wolfsbane talked to us. Also, maybe a little for the pranks." Siobhán blushed at the thought of pranking people. She hoped the pranks would be innocent enough that they wouldn't get in trouble.

Thank goodness! Katie said in relief, as Siobhán told her about the spell on her journal. She had been pretty concerned. Hey Sib, is it alright if I call you Sib? Either way, I was wondering if you got a response from your parents back yet. I know it's early, I'm just curious. Katie asked, knowing that since Siobhán had sent the letter of just last night, they probably wouldn't get a reply for closer to two days at a minimum.
Oh, I met this person who sells cool mood boards! Katie added, For first years, they're free, but I've says been altruistic, so he said he'd accept some of my character art! Katie said excitedly, with a bright smile on her face. Katie rarely smiled, but when she did, it was a bright, genuine smile that someone had once told her was more effective than a perfectly brewed cheering charm. They had probably been exaggerating though. That person had been a member of the Wizengamot who had been having dinner with her parents . She had wanted legislation passed and her parents to support it. Did I tell you about my character art yet? Katie asked, grinning. She could easily go off on a tangent about it, but I'd Siobhán had already heard it, well then, Katie wouldn't force Siobhán to listen to the same tangent twice.

It'd be weird to call her "Sib", since her name is pronounced Shiv-Vaughn. I kept forgetting to ask if you knew how to pronounce the name correctly. I'm sorry.
After hearing the nickname, Siobhán wrinkled her nose in distaste. "Please no. I'd rather not be called that. Shiv would be fine if you prefer. I was thinking about a few nicknames for you as well. Nicknames like Kat or Kitty. I don't know why but every time I hear the name Kate or Kat or something similar like yours it makes me thing Kitty. Is that weird?" Siobhán blushed a little and looked down at her book.
She knew that Katie was anxious to get a letter with information from her father. They both were. It would hold imperative information so that Katie could know what to do from here on out. Looking back up at Katie,"Hopefully, I'll get a message in the mail tomorrow morning, possibly at lunch. I'll bring the letter straight to you so that you can read it. I won't even open it. It'll mainly be for you anyway."
Character art? That sounds interesting. Katie hadn't mentioned it before. It made her think of the old gentleman back home, muggle of course, who would sit on the pier everyday of the summer, drawing people in a weird style that she didn't know how to describe. "Character art? You haven't said anything about it. What does it entail exactly? Are you selling portraits of people?"

Sorry! Shiv it is then. Katie replied bashfully. I've heard people use Kitty as a nickname for Katie, but or isn't my favorite. Kat is great with me, though I actually wouldn't mind Ati either. I think I'd actually prefer being called Ati. It's different from the name my parents have me and not as sophisticated or in your face look at me. I like Ati. she said with a brighter smile.
Alright then. I'm looking forward to it. As for character art, you basically make art out of keyboard characters. Over the summer, I saw a flyer for a muggle keyboard. I memorized the characters and then his the flyer from my parents. I make scenes out of those characters now. Katie said, grin, widening, as she talked about her character art. Katie could become quite animated, quite quickly about the things she loved and was passionate about. What is a "keyboard" anyway? Like what does it do? she asked Siobhán, quietly, embarrassed by her lack of knowledge about the non-magical works. Even though they were both technically pure-bloods, Siobhán seemed to know a great deal more about muggles, because get parents weren't as strict.
Katie wished she'd had "blood-traitor" parents for the first time in her life. Would they love her? Would they but her extra presents? Would they let her hip to a muggle primary school? Would they let her make muggle friends? Would they take he to the beach on holidays? Would they give her lots of hugs? Katie looked back up at Siobhán to see if she knew what the mysterious keyboard did?

"Surely you've heard of a piano keyboard? That's the first thing that comes to mind anyway. I believe my mother found this weird machine once while she was talking to a friend at work. She said it was a typewriter. It allowed muggles to write letters without actually writing the letters themselves. It was odd to learn about. She said that that was a keyboard. I suppose the characters you're mentioning would be the letters? I'm not completely sure." Siobhán wasn't entirely sure that she had answered Katie's question, but he tried.
"If I'm wrong, what do you suppose it is?" Siobhán asked. Pianos really were the first thing to come to mind. Her family owns a huge own made of mahogany and panted black for contrast against the décor in their house. She didn't know how to play it, despite her mother trying to get her to learn how to. The only thing that interested her about it was the way her mother played it. Like it was a long lost friend who she's finally seen after many years. "Either way, though, it made me think that muggles are so lazy. What's so bad about writing a letter by hand? It makes it more personal, right?"

Right! That's what it was! A type writer keyboard. Katie responded. You know, I've been worried about what'll hasten with my parents lately. What if I don't win the case? I know they'll be that much worse if they keep custody, because they'll be upset I drew negative attention to them. Katie said in a soft whisper, making sure that nobody could here them. Well, I've always liked to have a backup plan, Kate says, without a hint of sarcasm in her voice. She jotted down a quick list on a spare piece of parchment:
Katie slid it acts the table for Siobhán to see. Here, Katie said, without a hint of morbidity in her voice despite having just written a will at eleven years old. Will you please sign on the bottom line? she asked Siobhán. As a witness? she finished, peaking up from the table at Siobhán to see how she would react.
@Siobhán Moore
Katie's Will:
One galleon, six sickles, and three knuts (all of my school fund personal money), all of my pranking supplies, all of my herbology and Potions notebooks, journals, and textbooks, and all of my plants in the Palsorette greenhouse go to Siobhán Moore. Siobhán, you are a great friend and I'm glad I could know you for the time we did. Enjoy the plants in my greenhouse, they are all in a section titled Katie, so you'll know which ones are yours.
All of my books (not related to herbology or potions) go to Hildegard Schneider. Hildegard, I have loved being your dorm-mate and I wish we had had more time together. I suspect we could have been excellent friends. Enjoy your books!
All of my clothes are to be donated to less fortunate muggle-borns who need them.
Signed: Katie Palsorette

Siobhán looked down at the paper in front of her and read it slowly. Then she read it again. She didn't know if an official Will was necessary, even under the circumstances. Siobhán had high hopes that everything would go well and that Katie was just being overly cautious. Which, she supposed, Katie had a right to be overly cautious in this situation considering the circumstances.
She looked over the Will a third time, hoping that this time it will actually sink in that Katie is that worried about what could happen. Even if something did happen, Siobhán would know that she'd take good care of all the things that Katie is giving to her in the Will. It would be her guarantee.
"If you think this is a requirement, for just in case, I'll sign. But I do think it's not really needed." Siobhán sighed. She had high hopes, but then again, not everyone tries to look on the happy side. Some people like preparing for the worst, even if the worst is death. "My father is a competent man. He'll know what to do, who to contact and what needs to be done. Everything will be okay." Siobhán smiled lightly as she signed the Will and handed it back over to Katie.

Thanks, Katie said gratefully as Siobhán signed it for her. I have high hopes for the case too, but I'm nervous anyway. Katie added.
Katie knew she could be pessimistic, but after years and years with her parents who magical Great Britain viewed as "perfect, law-abiding, and compassionate", optimism did not come naturally to get. Katie had always had an analytical mind. She analyzed all sorts of different scenarios for how a situation might play out and acted needed I what was most probable, and prepared for the second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth most probable.
At the time, she had thought herself to be a realist, but sure realized she was more of a purist based not on her actions but her attitude and perspective towards bad and negative things. She half expected the worst case scenarios and when they happened, she felt partially numb. She supposed her pessimism had probably saved her life a few times over.
I want it to all be over soon. Do you think I'll have to testify? How will I get out of school to do that? Katie asked with concern. And we both know it'll be unfeasible to wait until Yule break when I have to tag along with my parents to a bunch of stupid parties filled with rich pure-bloods who share their horrid views. I don't think I can manage it maintain a bluff that long without slipping up sarcasm. Summer break obviously won't work, and every other time, I'm at school. There's no way for me to testify even if in need to. Katie said, starting to hyperventilate.
