This is the spectator thread for the Ravenclaw v Hufflepuff Qudditch Match moderated by Dan Palmer.
The stadium was packed with familiar and unfamiliar faces alike. The previous day another match was held. The rain was no less forgiving today than it was yesterday. A torrent of rain would saturate the grounds as well as the cheering crowd. Hufflepuff won last year, a flawless winning streak against not only the other houses but Durmstrang also. Lead by a part giant, a seemingly impenetrable wall of muscle, would this be another year of straight victories? They had lost their star Seeker, Serena Towers but they had replaced the present fourth year with a formidable Seeker who might make a name for themselves still.

The crowd would cheer as the teams made their way onto the pitch. A lone announcer in the heart of the field. The two teams would make their customary round along the perimeter of the Quidditch Pitch. Even soaked from the rain, they looked determined and focused. This was going to be an amazing, soggy match.

Solomon Lear, the Headmaster would be among the curious spectators. He was seated in one of the moist bleacher seats. An umbrella in hand, the rain would fall around him in thick streams. He was not looking at the pitch but rather the crowd, he looked concerned. Nervous even.

It was a fact that Bloom had not been a part of any Quidditch-related games or events. She grew to keep to herself after her unfortunate falling out with Ben. But after a long talk with her family, she had the support she yearned for and wanted to be back to her old self again. Luckily, over the summer, she attended the BBQ and stargazing which made for a great change in the right direction. Now... She was going to go to her first Quidditch event and see how it is played at Hogwarts.

What better than to go to her first game when it was... raining. Bloom wore her uniform with pride and added a scarf that her mother knit for her over the past year as well as an umbrella. Even with an umbrella, she was sure to get wet. My first outing to Quidditch and I'll catch a cold, she thought with a sigh. Nevertheless, she wouldn't be alone.

She knew a few familiar faces that were on the team. She hoped to see them shine against Hufflepuff, a house that she had other acquaintances in. A part of her wondered if she would make new friends or rekindle with old faces that she was close to or acquaintances with in the past.

You always care about what others think of you, she echoed to herself. Her older sister helped her realize this in the beginning of summer. It was true. Bloom wanted to feel well... wanted. But she needed to want herself and accept herself first before anyone else could. Bloom took a deep breath.

"LET'S GO RAVENCLAW!" she shouted. Her heart felt like it was on fire with all the pride that was spoken.

Fyodor placed his hands in his pockets as he walked to the Hogwarts Quidditch Pitch, the rain falling upon his head lightly. Why they didn't postpone was beyond him, though Charles and him had agreed to meet each other at the game regardless.

If he was being perfectly honest, he didn't even have any particular interest in Quidditch, as it was just a school pride tradition to attend the games after school. Though it felt weird, showing up to a match that featured a different school. What was he supposed to do, cheer for them? There was no way, no way in hell.

The slight drizzle that was present before had now transformed into pouring rain, the large water droplets hitting the cheeks of his face.Mighty fine day not to bring his umbrella..
He approached the stands slowly, taking a seat far from the others. He knew the area would be filled soon, causing him to only wonder where his Russian friend was.

He grabbed his wand carefully, pointing it upright. "Pluvia Velo."
He spoke softly, casting the Umbrella Charm as quickly as possible. A small whisp sort of shape formed above his head, the rain smoothly falling to the sides of him rather than drenching him like before.

"LET'S GO RAVENCLAW!" A girl near him shouted, her determination and pride enough to startle him. He rolled his eyes, focusing back upon the Quidditch Pitch. Now all he had to do was wait.

How interesting it was that while the broom racers were in town, there was also time to sit in on some Hog Wart Quidditch. Yefim had mixed feelings about the sport now, he had once been attached to it like glue. He still felt close to all the teammates he trained endlessly with, and knew that his time spent with it wasn’t wasted, but many of the players who were there that day during the finals against Hufflepuff quit soon after. How could they handle the humiliation, to still keep playing after being beaten by an inferior team?

It was that indignation that had Yefim eagerly attending the game of his greatest nemesis, the evil giant himself. He evoked the image of a Siberian troll, uprooting trees and eating little children who strayed too far from home. That’s what they had leading their Quidditch team, a menace!

Even though he technically learned better English to show off to an older student, he also was sure to load up on insults as well. That was the more important part, and he had even made a list and practiced them. He wouldn’t be caught without some choice words for anyone who was dumb enough to stick around and listen to them. He was glad to provide.

There weren’t many people there yet, and the match hadn’t started, which wasn’t too unusual for Yefim. While some might have categorized him as the lazy type, given his laid back approach to most things, he was actually so energized that it made him impatient. Once he got an idea in his head, he was already living in that reality, and it was up to time to catch up to him. Until the game started, he would be taking a seat somewhere in the front, not having specifically asked Mik to join him. He was going to have his eyes glued on Quinn Healy anyway, so anyone that tried to get his attention would probably just get his knuckles instead.

Charles kept his hands in his pockets as he ran over to the stands of the quidditch pitch, he still didn't know why he was attending this match. One reason was he was meeting Fyodor there, but why there at a game between two hogwarts houses in the rain. Charles was still taken back on why they just didn't reschedule the match but from what he seen hogwarts was a weird school so they did weird things like hold quidditch matches in the rain.

Charles reached the stands as he begun to climb the stairs of the stands, luckily he wasn't too soaked thanks to the black jacket he was wearing as he had the hood over his head and hands buried in his pockets, the rain wasn't to bad for him. However when he looked out at the pitch at the players, he couldn't help but to laugh a bit as he spoke in deep Russian " won't be long till one of them falls of their brooms," Charles continued up and spotted Fyodor, finally after the long walked in the rain.

Charles started on his way to him when he saw someone else, a fellow Dumstrang not that Charles cared so he pushed his shoulder past him when he heard cheering from another girl apparently for Ravenclaw, Charles just rolled his eyes at her as he came to stand next to Fyodor before he spoke " perfect day for a quidditch match, do you think Fyodor?" a hint of sarcasm could be found in the boy's voice as he continued " hogwarts should do know when to hold their matches."

Bloom was searching the audience with her chestnut brown eyes only to find that there were more from the other three schools than there were from Hogwarts. She knew that all three schools: Durmstrang, Beauxbaton and Ilvermorny, were to visit Hogwarts for the month, but she would have thought it would be more of a Hogwarts turnout than anything.

Bloom could feel the judgment that was being passed around. When she cheered, she could feel that all the eyes were on her, and not in a good way. Was it not appropriate to scream for the team? Perhaps it was not because she cheered. Maybe it was a mistake.

Perhaps this was going to be Bloom's big change to revert back to her old self. She wanted to be back to the independent and the imaginative girl that she once was. Bloom took a few steps towards the closest person to her. It was a Durmstrang student and he seemed to be chatting with a Ilvermorny student. Bloom overheard the Durmstrang student talk about how Hogwarts should have held the match than keep going in the rain.

"Quidditch is played rain or shine. Right now, their stamina and strength through hard weather will challenge them," she said, giving reason as to why Hogwarts always plays no matter the weather. They've even played, from what she heard, when it was extremely foggy. Now that was something she wished she saw-- the Seeker needing to find the Snitch would have been epic to see.

"I'm Bloom Silverton. You must be from Durmstrang and you must be from Ilvermorny. Welcome," she said to both individuals, being polite. No matter how many times they came to the school, she never had the galls to approach them. They were different in some way. Durmstrang folk looked so serious while Ilvermorny had a laid-back vibe. It was like the unknown for Bloom.

The Quidditch Pitch was one of the few places Falentra hasn’t been before. The place was ridiculously big. Expected...but still bigger than she initially thought. It had never crossed her mind to ever venture to such a place. The sport wasn’t really an interest of hers so she had no intention of wasting her time with it.
Although over the past few months, the subject had become more popular. Either that, or her selective hearing had expanded. The truth were, whether she wanted to accept it or not, was that Howard White had joined Hufflepuffs team. She had done some research since. She wanted to know what each position did and how dangerous they were. Bit by bit it, would seem the Slytherin had taken quite the liking to the sport, despite not really knowing too much about it just yet. Maybe today would be the day that was to show her true colours and passion for the sport.

The Slytherin had finally made her way up to the stands, and thankfully the seats before her only held a few students, some of which she hadn’t seen around before. It was probably those from the other schools, but she didn’t take much notice straight away. She was too busy scanning around at what was below. It was quite a way up, now that she had finally reached the top.
If there was something she had learnt already, it was that she wasn’t planning on joining the team anytime soon. Heights didn’t seem to fit all to well with her.

With a quick swish of her long black coat, she would make her way to the front seats, wandering careless passed those before her, not really bothering if she knocked into them on the way to her seat. If there was to be any other years taking up all the front row, she would have been sure to politely ask them to move. Thankfully, for her punctuality being on her side for once there was no need for such a thing.

She sat herself within the front row, her posture straight for a change. She shuffled around uncomfortably as she awaited any further announcements. Normally she would have throw herself back and just relaxed in her own world, undisturbed. But she was too alert and on edge today. Her coat hugged her frame, soaking in the warmth she had needed during this vile weather. It hung loosely just above her knees, and her roughed up boots sat loosely around her ankles, accompanied by some ruffled up grey cotton socks.
Like her face, the rest of her complexion were just as pale. Her boney legs that were covered in bruises from god knows what stood out like a sore thumb from her choice of colour. It was very rare she wore vibrant colours. The odd hues of greens were thrown in here and there to show off her house colours proudly, but today she went all out black although a yellow streak of paint would have been noticeable alongside her left cheek, just along her cheekbone to show her support in Hufflepuff.

Norina had never seen a Quidditch match before. Sure, she knew all about the Muggle sports such as basketball and soccer, but she didn’t know the first thing when it came to the wizarding sport. Well, other than what she had head from her peers and what she had learned in class, of course. Straightening her jacket and pulling the hood over her head, she entered the rows of spectator seating and glanced over the students that were already present.

She felt the heat rise to her cheeks as she realized that she didn’t recognize a single student there. Sure, she felt bold enough this morning to attend a sporting match that she knew close to nothing about, but she started to feel the familiar sensation of nerves creep back into her stomach.

Pushing those emotions aside, she walked up to the rest of the spectators. She hadn’t had the pleasure to meet any of the students from the other schools, and she noticed that there were already a few students from the guest schools watching the game. Opting to get a better view, Norina made her way to the front row next to a fellow Hogwarts student.

Taking mental note that the student was a Slytherin, she noticed the yellow streak of paint on her cheek and felt a sense of comfort wash over her as she took a seat next to the student. Repositioning her bright yellow rain jacket, she turned to the student, “Difficult day for a game isn’t it?” She furrowed her brow as she looked through the downpour and towards her fellow housemates that were fighting the storm. “Probably not the best weather to experience my first Quidditch match though,” she added as she glanced over to the other students, noting their lack of entertainment while watching the game.

Just like yesterday, the rain was heavily pouring over, making it hard for Heather to even walk properly. Why in the world the Quidditch game was still going to be held today was a mystery for the tall blonde, but nonetheless, she was excited about the upcoming match. Her own house, her Ravenclaws were going to play today! The night before she couldn't even sleep; and, while this wasn't something new, the smile she couldn't seem to wipe off her face and the hope she felt in her soul were something she'd lacked in a long time. Heather could proudly say that she was looking forward to this day, and not even the bad weather could break off her spirits.

And, of course, while she cheered for the Eagles because they were her family, there was someone in that team, someone who Heather liked a tad bit more than the other members- Miranda, her friend, was going to play in her first match. The blonde couldn't even fathom to imagine what emotions she must be going through. Their opponents, after all, were spectacular- the same Hufflepuffs that beat the other houses and won against even Durmstang, the same Hufflepuffs she supported during the last match she attended. Well, it seemed like the tables have turned now.

Finding a place where she could easily see the field, the blonde bit her lip, her umbrella protecting her against the drops of rain. With her necktie wrapped around in a makeshift ponytail, Heather noted that, despite the heavy weather, it wasn't as cold as one would believe. That, or maybe she'd finally made the right choice when dressing up.

A sudden craving made the girl stop in her tracks; did she have the time, before the match started, to find something to munch on? Because, frankly, she couldn't even eat properly that morning, and the gum she was currently chewing on did little to help her with her hunger. Despite the discomfort she was beginning to feel, the blonde didn't have time to ponder on this idea for much longer, though, because the two teams made their way on the field. Spotting her favourite chaser against the sea of blue, Heather quickly jumped on her feet.

"I'm rooting for you, Miranda! Go Ravenclaw!" She shouted, though she doubted her friend could hear her; the sound of the pouring rain and all the other voices, coming from the whole stadium, faded her cheers into the background. Still, she held her free hand up high, waving it around.

After a few minutes, when the whole atmosphere had calmed down once again, Heather sat back down, tightening her hold on her umbrella. Blowing a bubblegum balloon, the girl looked around, taking in the spectators of the match. Durmstang, Ilvermory, Beauxbatons, and Hogwarts- all of them were around there, some of them in groups and some of them, like her, alone, waiting to find someone to talk to. She was happy being there either way, but having someone to share her joy with seemed much better.

With an amused sneer and a smile Valentin picked out where Yefim was sitting easily from the characteristic shape of his hat.

«Тебе не спрятаться от меня в этой шляпе». [“You can’t hide from me in that hat,”] said Valentin in Russian as he sat next to Yefim without asking if the seat was taken. Valentin was glad that even though Yefim had technically quit quidditch, the boy was still clearly engaged with it. That part of Yefim’s spirit had not died, which brought great consolation to Valentin. The white niffler’s life revolved around his team mates and for someone to quit the team threatened to vanish one of his greatest treasures.

Stretching his back, Niffler scanned the crowd to see who was attending. People were in general sopping wet or using various types of umbrellas. Valentin had brought nothing. He was pretty sure he had his wand on his person, but he was not about to use it for even a Pluvia Velo. Besides, Valentin was used to flying in much more inclement weather than this, so he did not see what the big fuss was about. Instead, Valentin looked under the brim of Yefim’s hat trying to catch the boy’s eye.

«Когда барсук мычит?» [“When does a badger go ‘moo?’”] asked Valentin jokingly.
