Bloom was filled with ego. She thought that she was able to get a pass quicker and while it was successful, half of the water had spilled out. She was not alone in not getting enough water in, however. It seemed that her other teammates also did a quick pass. All were successful, but the mount of water they were supposed to get into the bucket was halved as well.

The score was the following 16 vs. 39 units. They were more than half below the other team and they needed to make sure to keep the water flowing.

Bloom laughed at River's mention of wondering how sponges worked. It was definitely new to those who never had to hold or use a sponge. Most wizarding households used magic to clean their home. It was like walking into a factory on some days when she went home on cleaning days. Her mum always did the cleaning on Sundays where her home was filled with moving objects left to right.

"Let's try not to be so quick next time," Bloom called out to @River Dewlight with a smile. River was a year younger than her, but she seemed nice enough to maybe get to know. For someone who was a third year, she was strong. She was not only on the Quidditch team, but she was also a Prefect. Bloom remembered her days as a Prefect and wondered if it was as exhausting then as it is now.

Steady, Bloom thought to herself. She was now going to do a standard pass, one that was much relaxed than the quick pass.

Although her team seemed to be starting to get the hang of the game, Cecily was still disappointed to see that their rivals still managed to have far more water in their bucket than her own team. Cecily's let out a sad laugh as Willow teased their team on the mechanics of a sponge. Although it hadn't occurred to her, maybe the younger Hufflepuff was right. It certainly seemed like the other students on Cec's team were incapable of getting water into a sponge. She just laughed it off, though, reminding herself that this was supposed to be fun. And, yes, Cecily might have been a bit of a harsh competitor, but there was no reason to get upset over such a simple game that Willow had put together for their enjoyment. Plus, she was here of her own accord, so it wasn't like she really had any excuses.

As the sponge was passed down the line, Cecily held her breath and grabbed ahold of the sponge, moving it across her body as quickly as possible in an effort to avoid a good soaking. The other team, though, was perhaps not quite as lucky-- as Cecily surveyed their progress, she noticed that both Kat and the infamous Ana Beckett were drenched. That couldn't be comfortable, especially in a rapidly chilling autumn in Scotland.

It seemed like the students were finally getting a hang of their rhythm, and actually learning how to pass the sponge with water in it. She was very proud of Cecily being the first person on team 2 to actually get a decent of amount of water in the sponge. Team 2 seemed to be going a decently paced speed, making some pretty standard passes overheard. So far, none of them had gotten a single drop of water on them. That couldn't be said for Team 1, where the only dry person was Amadea. She briefly wondered if maybe not telling them that this would involve water was the wrong move. None of them really were wearing clothes that were suitable for this, getting water dumped on them in a chilly Scotland. She made a note to inform the students next time she held a water activity that they would be properly informed of the consequences.

Ana seemed to be on an unlucky streak, as she put the sponge in the water and started to pass it she once more dumped a decent amount of water on her. At least she was being more careful this time and definitely didn't lose as much water as she should have. Karma really wasn't the comment to Kat go. At least they were still in the lead. Both teams were just about halfway, and it was honestly still anyone's game. Especially with Ana fumbling so much, and team 2 not knowing how to put water in a sponge. "Team 1 is still in the lead! Let's go team 2! Learn how to use that sponge~ Team 1... uh... be more careful with your passes?" Unbiased commentary was hard for Willow, and she genuinely wished they both could win.

Kat and River would be at the start of next round for their teams~

𝓐madea tried to pass her sponge as quickly and carefully as she could, in order to keep the most water in the sponge as possible. Unfortunately, this round for her team was not as successful as past ones had been. They dropped the sponge, losing a lot of the water that could have really set them ahead in the competition. Even more, unfortunately, the other team had done quite well during this round, which meant they were quickly catching up. Amadea was not about to let that happen; her team had started out so strong and it would be such a shame if they lost at this point in the game. So, she prepared for the next round.

"Let's go you guys," Amadea cheered. "We got this!" Her competitiveness was only building as this game went on; when she had first stepped onto the playing field she had been a little bit intimidated and slightly scared about how this was going to go. It was such an odd event, a sponge pass, only something you would find at a field day. It wasn't like Amadea had much practice passing sponges in her everyday life and she had been nervous that she would be the weak link in the team. Thankfully, it seemed like this wasn't too difficult and her team was doing quite well. They could totally win this thing, but they had to keep it together for long enough and fend off the other team. They could do this.

Looking at the score that was rapidly rising, Bloom could tell that their team was gaining up on them. They were a few points away from being in the lead rather than more than half below. It was time for the tables to turn. Bloom knew that having her ego rise was not going to help. She did not want to do a quick pass in case water drips out of the sponge. The whole point was to fill the bucket up with units of water.

She overhead @Amadea Campbell keep her team's spirits high. Bloom gave a chuckle and gave her a tilted smile. "Are you sure you got this? We're catching up pretty fast," she said, sticking out her tongue, playfully.

Bloom looked to her teammates. "Maybe we should do another normal pass? We have been doing better doing that than the quick pass," she said, slightly taking the lead of her team. Bloom had a light competitive streak. It was not as strong as others, but she still liked the feeling of winning and why not when they could have a chance to do so?

Bloom took another sponge and passed it across to the other side.

The 'fit

Ana squealed again. Just because she had already been drenched didn't mean it was any more pleasant the second time around. She shivered, cursing inwardly at her choice of outfit. She was so over this and had resolved to dominate the other team to avenge herself. She hated this so much and wanted to go inside and drink a scalding hot cup of coffee and possibly hide in a pile of blankets.

God, coffee sounded good right now. She was more than awake, seeing as she had just had two rounds of cold water dumped on her, but coffee was always a good idea. Or hot chocolate. That also sounded nice. Or even tea, despite her general dislike of leave water. Granted, under that logic, coffee could be considered bean water, but it was still better than tea. Hot chocolate was always good, but she didn't consider it to be in the same category as coffee. It was almost a dessert, but not quite. Hot chocolate and coffee together was always nice. She was definitely going to get her hands on one or both of those beverages once all this was over. And she had changed. Was it too late in the day to drink coffee? Definitely not.

River nervously watched the sponge pass down the line til it finally reached her. She was surprised, but happy to feel it was quite a bit heavier than the previous rounds. She quickly squeezed the water out and into their bucked before she began heading back to her beginning spot, the front of the line. As she ran she gave a quick glance to the other team, who seemed to have spilled some water on a few members. Perhaps they would actually have a chance of climbing the ranks to win this thing? It wouldn’t necessarily be the proudest achievement of River personally, though she didn’t know what the other players thought about that. Oh yeah, I won this thing by filling a sponge with water and trying not to spill any of it as I sent it onward to the next student, didn’t really sound like the most impressive thing to boast to anyone over.
Snapping out of her thought she pushed the sponge down into the water and tried to make it soak up as much as possible. She wanted no repeat of her previous attempt, as it was, to say the least, feeble. As she had gotten as much water as she could as fast as possible, she sent the sponge onward to the next in line hoping to avoid any spills on the way.

Cecily watched as the sponge she had filled with what she hoped was a decent amount of water flew down the line of students on her team, ending with River squeezing every last drop into the bucket at the end of the line. The blonde grinned as she watched Team 2's bucket fill up faster and faster. Sure, they had gotten off to a rocky start, with some members of her team apparently not quite adept at using a sponge, but she could tell now that they were finally catching up. No longer did Team 1 have nearly twice as much water in their own bucket! And if Cecily's team could make up so much lost ground so quickly, there was still time for them to make a comeback.

As the sponge hit the end of the line, Cecily scooched over in line to make room for River, who took a spot at the beginning of the convoy. Grabbing the sponge from the other girl, Cecily moved it across her body as fast as she could without spraying water everywhere. After all, she had no wish to pull an Ana and get drenched-- twice. Even Kat, on the other team, seemed to be dripping. Cecily just hoped that she, and the rest of her team, was luckier than their soaked opponents.

The match was getting incredibly close. Team two was finally figuring out how to work a sponge, team one Ana finally wasn't dumping all of the water on herself and fabulous leather jacket. Seriously, Willow was impressed with how bad her choice of clothing was with this event but how lovely that she looked anyway. Katrina started her team off well getting at least a little bit of water in the sponge, but definitely not as much as she should. Was she worried about getting the water on her? The pass to Ana went well, and even then Ana managed not to dump it on herself and did a successful pass to Amadea. Who then struggled to get it into the bucket by squeezing out some of it onto herself. Willow couldn't help but giggle, they were almost there!

On the other team, River seemed to finally learn how to use a sponge and absolutely filled it. So much so, that maybe it was too heavy for her to pass as she dumped half of it on her head as she passed it over. River had just poured a river onto her head. Luckily, the next two passes went easy and no more water was lost. They could've won if not for the initial drop. For an underdog team they were making a tremendous comeback.

Amadea and Bloom would then move to the front for the next, and possibly final round. Unless someone dropped a sponge. Seriously, Willow just wanted people to keep them in their hands.

Katrina figured that the game was coming to a close as the second last two people ran to the front of the line. It only increased the pressure. She really really wanted to win this. It would be the first thing that Katrina had won since coming to Hogwarts. She might even get a little credit for it. Probably not, but a girl can dream.

As the sponge neared her, Katrina was actually focused. She took it, dunked it in the water and took it out and let it start going down the aisle. It was only then that she realized that she probably hadn't squished it hard enough because it had been pretty light. Did that mean that she had just ruined her chances of winning? But as she looked to the opposite team, she saw nearly half of the water dump on someone's head. Nope, it seemed like they were pretty close.

Katrina watched as the last two people made their way up. Last round. They could do this. Katrina was going to be very careful this time. No water would drop out of it this time. She needed to be so careful so that they could actually win.
