The mirror-like surface of the Great Lake began to ripple. It was was barely perceptible, how the chilly waters lapped the rocky shore. It was then, in the very heart of the lake that the waters would bubble as if the lake was boiling. A dark mast would pierce the unsettled surface and from the depths, while considerably deep one would not have thought deep enough to hide such a vessel. A great, black ship would breech the surface under full sail. A thick fog would seemingly roll off the deck of the ship and blanket the now choppy waters.
No sound, not from the ship. Just a single light seen only vaguely over foggy waters - a single lantern hung off the mast of the ship. Time would pass, nearly an hour. The sun would start to rise over the Scottish hillside and as the sun breeched the horizon a single horn would blare. That sound would herald their arrival and possibly draw bleary-eyed Hogwarts students from their beds:Durmstrang has arrived.
Simple four-man boats would be lowered into the rough waters. The spray had an icy chill that the Durmstrang students were accustomed to, much like the harsh waters. Given warnings and reminders to remain vigilant and that their behavior represents the school and their family, the boats would be lowered one at a time.

Running a hand through his gelled up black hair, Arjan smirked. The sun might only have started to rise but that did not mean he was still asleep or back to napping or whatever. No matter what day it was, he would wake up early. Today was no exception. The boy woke up early, exercised, showered and was seated nice and early. Admittedly, he had no idea what the plan was once they arrived at Hogwarts but that did not stop him from getting a few push ups in before they left Durmstrang. He was aching for a run, however. That would, sadly, have to wait until they reached.
Arjan Oberoi might have always considered Durmstrang the best magical school - based solely on the reputation that it had and whilst knowing very little about the others. And he might have considered Hogwarts unworthy of his time, because they seemed to allow anyone in. However, he could not deny that he was mildly curious about the British wizarding school after the interactions they had at summer camp. He would pretend otherwise, he would tell you that he had been forced to attend this trip but in reality, he was a little intrigued.
This was not something he had expected but... huh, it was only a few weeks right? Might as well check out the place. Donning his school uniform, he pressed his collar down to ensure it was perfect. There should be no creases. If there was anything he cared about, it was reputation. His, his family and his school's reputation. They were given warnings but he did not need them. Arjan might have gotten into fights a bit too much but he could control his anger for his reputation, if he needed to.
Leaning forward, placing his forearms on his thighs, Arjan sat the small four man boat - not really bothering to communicate with his companions right now. His hazel-brown eyes scanned the lake, taking in the view. Whilst he had chosen not to go to Hogwarts years ago, he had to admit that it was... not bad looking. He hated to admit it but... the view was kind of pleasant. The way the castle slowly came into view, its reflection in the lake, the sunlight shining over it... He might not admit it out aloud but it was actually not bad.

---------------------------------- Faceclaim: Maarten Convens Male | 15 | Pureblood | Portuguese/Italian | Fifth YearKHEANU MARAVILHO MONDELEZ
"Your discomfort fuels me. I unsettle you, and that's exactly how I like it."----------------------------------
The dim, early morning light filtered through the murky depths of the Hogwarts Lake outside of Kheanu Mondelez' window. The day's travel has been especially rough for the boy. Used to the comforts of his family's luxurious life and the relative convenience afforded to him by the Durmstrang fortress, being shored up with sweaty, male bodies in the hold-turned-quarters of the Durmstrang ship was immensely taxing.
The boy has been awake for some time, the rouge that stained his lips and high cheeks already settling nicely into his pale skin by the time the first of his roommates even stirred. After five years of rigorous training in Durmstrang Institute, no chill seemed to permeate into his pores, anymore, turning his already pale coloring pallid under the faint light their submerged ship managed to catch. Kheanu always had a vial of red-colored stain in his luggage to bring back some life to his appearance, ready to face any day.
He sighed as he left the underbelly of the ship in favor of the upper deck. Kheanu could feel the vessel's soft vibration as it slowly made its way to the surface of the lake, near the end of its journey to Hogwarts. All around them, a large, impenetrable bubble magically shielded them from the crushing waters of the Great Lake, pulsing and quivering in response to the ship's steady upward movement.
The quietness of the early morning turned Kheanu's thoughts inward.
The last time he had an interaction with anything Hogwarts-related was over the summer during the campout. A puff of pride wove its way into his lungs as he recalled how he, as the Queen, led his team to victory during the Chess Combat games. A small smile raised the corner of his lips. He didn't think the Durmstrang boy he helped knocked out would ever forgive him ever again, but considering he hasn't encountered the person over the course of his four-year stay at the Institute, it hardly—if ever—mattered.
Aside from raw power and dark magic expertise, Durmstrang boasted a penchant for size and scale, as evidenced by its gargantuan fortress and an impressive ship. However, it did mean that most of its student body will have walked its halls without ever meeting one another. And now, visiting yet another castle, he couldn't help but think about the surrealism of that...
Of never getting to meet somebody in a lifetime. Having no one to share his accomplishments with.
Relatively alone on the upper decks, Kheanu allowed himself to think about genuine human connection. For so long, he has seen people as a means to an end, simply just tools for personal use and enjoyment. With his lithe build and otherworldly appearance, he wasn't exactly starving for attention. But there he was. Alone. And as the school's ship breached the surface and more students with their peers in tow crowded the deck, more and more lonely.
Kheanu chuckled ruefully as he raised his wand, muttering a Pluvia Velo to avoid the dirty lake water currently streaming down from above. "What a time to 'ave an epiphany, eh bello?" He whispered to himself, taking in a lungful of actual fresh air as he strode towards the side of the ship.
Hogwarts under the rising sun was picturesque.
From a distance, its stones glinted a pale yellow. Every crenellation, every brick, every tower was set in a dazzling contrast with the rolling, green hills that surrounded it. It stood like a sentinel, looming over an emerald lake glittering under the sun's rays. A cool breeze whipped Kheanu's platinum blonde hair around his face, and the sounds of gulls calling out to each other somewhere far above heightened the boy's sense of surreality.
He could never get used to Hogwarts Castle. It was the complete opposite of Durmstrang's dark stone and icy landscape. Its sprawling landscape called to him, and he itched to hold a broom in his hand just to see how beautiful it was from above. The melody of waves lapping the side of the boat as it drifted ever forward prompted the boy to close his eyes and take another deep inhalation, the sound instilling a strong sense of calm only it can ever provide.
A peace only interrupted by the steady drone of a single horn.
"[Attention, students! Boats fit four people at most!]" Kheanu was not exactly the most well-versed in Russian, but by the sight of the small dinghies being lowered into the deep green waters, he could guess what was being said. "[Alight in an orderly manner, and please, for the duration of your stay, remain vigilant and civilized. Every action you take and every decision you make will reflect upon your school and your family!]
When came his turn, Kheanu stepped delicately onto the wooden surface of the simple boat, eyes still trained onto the sight in front of him.
Well met, Hogwarts.

The murky water slammed against the ship, Charles was never one to turn down a adventure but after experiencing sometime on the ship and it's cramped quarters, he as to agree that ship life just isn't for him as he look up at Hogwarts which was lightly illuminated by the dimly lit sun. The boy never thought of Dumstrang as the greatest school ever and he didn't that Hogwarts would fit that definition either, no matter what students from either school said. Charles had a way to find the good and bad in places and people which explains how he never liked the idea of going to any of the schools and also why he didn't really have any friends at Dumstrang despite how social he was.
Dressed in his Dumstrang uniform and waiting to depart the ship, Charles was standing next to a group of fellow students who were talking amongst themselves even through he longed to join them, he didn't speak back because figured they wouldn't be so keen on talking to the trouble student of the lot. Charles had a reputation at Dumstrang for causing the trouble which led him to he quite lonely at the school which never really bothered him at least he didn't show it. So while he didn't have anyone to talk to yet, Charles knew that Ilvermorny would be coming to which meant his best friend; Fyodor Prior would be joining them and the boy couldn't wait to see him.
Charles looked around at the rest as of the students as the same warnings were given, he thought specify to him since he would possibly be the one to cause trouble and poorly represent Dumstrang, noticing the others in their wrinkle free Dumstrang uniform and some even with gelled back hair or stubs on facial hair on the ends of starting to grow. Charles's own uniform was the same as everyone else, in a wrinkle free and former sort of way but would it stay like that, possibly not.
The boy brushed a few strands of his blonde hair from his eyes, even though it was short it still found a way to fall in his eyes. It was funny how looks can be deceiving, Charles was only twelve who will turn thirteen in November but he looked to he around fourteen or fifteen. He was 5 feet and 5 inches, a bit taller then most his age and something that Charles always joke with especially with the ones older than him. The boy always found it assuming to mess with a fourteen or fifteen year old who was shorter than him even they never then and sometimes would show their angry onto Charles.
Speaking of the joker found someone, Arjan Oberoi @Serena Towers to mess with, a boy near him who was shorter by a inch or two but Charles knew he was a fourth year so he approached and slightly bumped him before pushing past and saying to the boy " sorry about that, I mustn't have seen you down there," Charles enjoyed his little games that he played as he stepped into one of the small wooden boats before it was lowered into the murky and choppy water.
Charles felt the crisp water spray on him, luckily it didn't bother him since after three years at Dumstrang he felt the cold bearable but also he was wearing a Dumstrang uniform something he never enjoyed or like probably because part of it was fur or because it was so thick that it would make you sweat on a hot day, on a day that today would most likely turn out to be.
As his boat roughly sailed across the lake, Charles looked up and saw the castle of hogwarts, so this was Hogwarts? Charles didn't know why he was there now, yes he was on the broom racing team and would probably race but why was he actually there? Did he know or was it just as much as a mystery to the boy as it was to the others? Well know or not, one thing was certain; Charles was at Hogwarts which only meant one thing trouble was also at the school.

Before the end of his last visit, Yefim was sure that he would never go to the United Kingdom again. Why would he? It was a crappy place, with crappy people who were no fun. They all spoke English and zero Russian, and totally whined about every little thing. In Moscow, Yefim was a bit of an outcast, even shunned by some, but he could find the niches where he belonged. With his friend Mik, who never left his side no matter what stupid things he got into. Niffler, who seemed to go along with whatever stupid idea he cooked up. There were others who flocked to him, either because he was strong or because he was so confident. Either way, he hadn’t found anyone like that on his trip to London during the summer. They were all cowards and freaks.
One thing made him want to return to Hogwarts, even though normally he wouldn’t hold a grudge for longer than a second. Giants. Goblins. It was gross. They were roaming the halls like they were people, and from what he had heard, it was even worse than that. Dhampirs and Werewolves too, an absolute shock. They were basically a school of monsters. Yefim couldn’t just let them be happy and secure about that, the more they started to think that they were people, the more bold they would get. They needed to be put in their place, or at least made to feel bad.
That was why the offer to go to Hogwarts for broom racing snapped Yefim to attention right away. He had been practicing his English some, and training nonstop. He knew Durmstrang was better than Hogwarts. It was exclusive to purebloods, afterall, and it also was his school. Him, the icon meant to bring the next wave of cleansing to the world. An auspicious title for a worthy school. Hogwarts should feel blessed to have such a powerful figure visit their disgusting halls, though his holy judgement would not be kind. Still, they should be welcoming him with open arms, since he was what they deserved. Perhaps he wasn’t as strong as a giant, but he could still make them hurt.
It was obvious when the ship started to breach, even with the grace in which it pierced the water’s surface. From inside the watery displacement gulped all around them, the portholes showing the running down of the murky dark water giving way to the crack of dawn around them.
[”Come on Mik, I’m hyped!”] Yefim flashed a grin to his best friend as he stood up and jumped up and down in place.
He would be brimming with evil energy, ready to unleash his dreaded glee on whatever poor soul dared to cross his path. There was a call to represent the school properly, but Yefim knew what that meant. Don’t get caught, don’t get punished. He could manage to do mostly harmless torture to the nerds who were out in broad daylight. He almost felt bad for anyone he caught alone.

She was running the perimeter of the lake as she had every morning at the cusp of dawn. The brisk Scottish air was thin, making it harder to breathe. The emergence of the ship was unexpected. she knew that Durmstrang would arrive, but she expected them to arrive by carriage not by water and not at this hour. She would stop at the rocky shore of the lake and look on as the rowboats were lowered into the choppy waters. She pulled the hood up on the sweater she was wearing, a plain white sweater and a pair of black yoga pants. It covered her wind-swept tresses that were finger-combed into a high ponytail.
She was in no condition to meet a ship of foreign hotties. Thankfully, she was not in the market for romance. She was in the market for alliances. There was one thing she could be certain of -- none of them were half-giants, in fact they knew the potential dangers of part-giants if the rumors regarding an altercation in St. Mungos were true. Furthermore, the reach of the death witches was not likely so far as to have reached the other triwizard academy.
She was not entirely certain what a school of super models could do in the face of pure evil, but if nothing else they would make effective meat shields and decoys. "Some entrance," Erin would announce to the first ship to reach the shore. She would grab the nose of the ship and pull the craft onto the shoreline before they could exit the vessel. "I was expecting fireworks and gaudy carriages," she commented.

Arjan was keeping to himself for once, not really bothered by the people around him. At least, he did not really care for foolish little kids. Unfortunately one of them seemed to have different plans. He quirked an eyebrow as the short weak looking little boy bumped into him, claiming he didn't see him 'down there'. Arjan was over five foot eight - at least three inches taller than this punk. Hell, he was five foot eight on his fourteen birthday - over a year ago. He was probably a few inches taller by now but had not bothered to measure his height since. It was more accurately around five foot nine or ten.
Rolling his eyes, all he did was stand up straight. The younger boy was foolish as well as weak, it would seem. Towering several inches over the little kid, he smirked, flexed his giant biceps and cracked his knuckles, "It would be a shame if I swung my fist without seeing your stupid looking face down there," He responded back in Russian, making it very clear that if he wanted to do this, Arjan had absolutely no problem decking him. Breaking noses was, after all, a specialty. There was a reason that he spent far too many hours exercising and practicing martial arts. Fighting was not uncommon to the boy. He was trying to be on the best behaviour right now - this was the only reason he had not thrown the kid into the lake instantly - because it was important to represent Durmstrang properly.
At the very least, he wanted to make it to the castle without getting into a fight but if someone else started it, Arjan would have absolutely zero issues ending it.

Charles had a problem with walking away or staying out of trouble even through they were asked to properly represent Dumstrang and their families Charles couldn't help but mess with a few fellow Dumstrang, it was in his nature almost as he turned on his heal and spoke to the boy whom Charles now saw he bumped into the wrong person, shit, Charles wasn't new to fights and if he was at Dumstrang then he would have already punched him and then get punched back like way worse but he wasn't and he rather not piss off the headmaster by fighting the first day they arrived so he just spoke calmly " did you say something?"
Charles may have been worried about fighting the extremely muscular boy but he was used to getting in and out of fights so he looked calm as he felt the morning sun on him, which was sort of uncomfortable thanks to his Dumstrang uniform. Charles however never being the bigger man and having to deal with an annoying older brother simply stated " typical, you always resort to fists in a situation," that was kind of typical for Dumstrang kids even through Charles wasn't that smart he still knew better then to just throw punches at everyone that bumps him or makes a stupid comment but apparently not everyone did that especially people two or three inches taller than him.
Charles then gave a half smile before saying " if your to afraid of the headmaster to do anything then there's no need for me to stay," Charles turn on his heel before saying over his shoulder " see you around, goblin," alright now Charles was just teasing him since he clearly knew he was taller than him but didn't really care as he took a few steps closer to the boats and was ready to board.

interactions with [OPEN TO INTERACTIONS]
position slouched in a boat, antisocially
It was the buzzing of the boards and shuffling of fabric that roused Johann from his light doze, the gentle peace that had befallen the ship broken by its sign of an arrival incoming. The wooden floorboards beneath him shuddered slightly with movement, the night-murky water gradually lightening from through the porthole windows as the walls began to physically convey their rapid ascent out of the Lake and hint at dawn. He felt as if dipped in honey- maybe it wasn't a good idea to have stayed up so late over the night of travel, but he hadn't taken rest alone and without the steady presence of his companions since summer camp, months ago.
A sense of bitter apprehension filled him as he forced himself to look respectable, swinging on the familiar weight of Durmstrang's outer jacket and adjusting the belt buckles. He pressed his fingers to the chilled glass, the fur collar warm and thick against his shoulders as he waited for the ship to breach fully in a no doubt intimidating manner.
The last time he had visited the United Kingdom had been an experience he simultaneously could not forget and yet wanted desperately to. He was off all day after the water fight, the fatigue of a hand badly dealt and stress of travelling back with his grandfather still gone making him absolutely miserable for hours on end. The Chess Combat had been a humiliating experience- made worse by the fact that he had been alone to lick his wounds. He would have to do that again, except in a proper competition, and he didn't have any of his friends there for moral support. He didn't even know much of the other chosen students either- if they were straight-laced or willing to put up with someone like him. The Quidditch Tournement had been a grand victory for Durmstrang. Not that he'd say that he expected it, but he expected it.
But- the other two schools were following along in this venture. Johannes had something with the American babe, Rett, at the summer camp. Hell, he had shared his first kiss with the other, an electrifying nervous feeling that had left him half-dazed. Except. After that, they never corresponded again. Maybe it had been on him, for never asking for the other's method of contact, maybe he scared off the boy. There was no slow and steady wins the race, they cut straight- er, not so straight- to the chase. Some coward part of him hoped desperately that Rett had not come, if only to spare his wounded heart.
But he was getting so sentimental- maybe it was because he didn't have anyone around to take his mind off things- and it wasn't going to fly. They had maybe only half the ship submerged now, slowly growing higher with every passing minute. Great, heaving galleons of cold water poured away from the magically sealed buble of air that protected them, sloughing off with splashing sounds that chruned the water as if butter and replacing the air with thick curls of fog. If he had been with his friends, perhaps they would have snuck on deck to watch the ship rise from underneath the safety of magic, maybe they would have stared out at the open scenery with laughter caught between their teeth as they lean up precariously against the railings.
The booming, recognisable noise of the foghorn ran him to his core as he headed towards the stairs, fiddling with the golden clips of his gloves, the supple leather dulling his sense of touch as Johannes crossed upwards. The cool morning mist greets him like an old friend, shrouding their surroundings in darkness as they moved forward, illuminated by the singular golden glow of the lantern by the mast. Simply-made boats that can fit four are prepped as instructions are being called out- as if they could forget- and Johannes moved quickly to take claim over one of the seats offered. At least this time he remembered to spell his hair again, the reminder of its original colour at summer camp felt disgusting.
Johannes was a troublemaker by reputation, he didn't help his group earn the title Hellhounds for being angel children, but he wasn't a complete idiot. 'Best behaviour'. 'Representative of Durmstrang.' Oh, he would be on his best behaviour. Of course, he would- at least in the eyes of others. Those who knew him by reputation would scoff at the thought of it.
They were probably right to do that.

Oh, his father wouldn't be too pleased. Illya's gloved hands had slipped into his pocket, something was in it. But that was just consequence to anyone who was dumb enough to let their guard down around him. The teen had spent some time sweet talking a girl on the boat, whom he had dutifully taken a beloved writing utensil of her for when she wasn't looking. ❝ Turtle shelled, pops might like it for Christmas. ❞ he hummed. He was happy to finally see the place that his father had so dearly talked on and on about.
His old man was an old professor at Hogwarts, but he spoke fondly of the place ever since it fell from his lips. Unlike some of the students, Illya humbled himself on the outside. In many cases, he cared very little about reputation right now and mainly wanted to speak to the locals of this magical establishment. Friends? Perhaps.
But he was curious, eager, and willing to throw himself into a conversation with another person not from his school if he could. His father knew English and taught it to him little by little, but he was going to be rusty. As the view came to being, his eyes settled on the scenery before him with a twinkling in his eye. A castle? Interesting. What did a castle hold in fairy tales? Riches.
Maybe he could make a gain of this trip after all. It would be more than just behaving, acting haughty, and speaking fancy words to sound smart. All he needed was a silvertongue and a quick hand, he could make off with some things from a foreign land. Then, he could return it right after and call it a day. But he was surely going to take one or two things in the end.
Theft wasn't good, in many cases it was morally wrong, but he was careful with the things he plucked. They were often small things, but it was just enough of a feeling of accomplishment. It usually was returned in the end; he had a diverse enough collection. Plus, some people knew he was a thief, some people didn't.
As he got closer to the boats, his brown eyes glazed over a few of the unoccupied or somewhat occupied ones. That led him to enter a boat with who seemed to be someone a year younger than him. He eased into the boat and sat next to the student without real thought of refraining himself. Ah, how rude of him. Illya spoke Hungarian and English, that left him with two routes in hopes that the boy spoke one or the other.
He pointed upon the ground in front of him, looking at the boy with a bemused expression. ❝ Sorry, can I take this? ❞ He spoke in English, coupled with a heavy accent indicative of his magyarian descent.
