Haley was happy about the common trip and that Alina was so helpful. She listened excitedly to her words and had to laugh when Alina mentioned the drunken portraits. "Okay, I'll remember the tip: Portraits as orientation help but stay away from the drunken people" she laughed again and was grateful for everything she could learn from Alina

"Oh, how exciting! I also hope that I will discover one of the secret passages. Somehow crazy what this castle hides in it" Haley said to herself more than to Alina. Every time she walked through the corridors of Hogwarts she could lose herself in endless dreams. She still found it hard to believe that she was really here.

When they arrived at the library, Haley couldn't stop being amazed. With open mouth and big eyes she looked around. "I can totally understand why you are attracted to the library" Haley spoke in amazement. "It's beautiful!" Haley continued to rave. She knew right away that she would spend a lot of time here, not only to gain new knowledge from all these books, but also to do her homework or enjoy the peace and quiet in one of the comfortable sitting areas.

"When did you start getting used to all this? Not wanting to pinch yourself every time you discovered something new and incredible at Hogwarts?" Haley asked cautiously. She hoped Alina would not think she was crazy, but she could hardly imagine that she could ever lose this feeling. "I think I'll never get rid of it." She said slightly ashamed now.

"I'm not sure I am used to it," she admitted. "Maybe that's why I make my map...gives me a chance to forever explore the castle because it still intrigues me."

She smiled, liking that she found someone who appreciated it as much as she did. Haley deserved to find a friend in the portraits like she did Poppy and she deserved to have portrait cats and find hidden passageways. She wanted to be a friend to this castle just like Alina did.

"The Library sort of reminds me of mine back home," she said, fishing through her bag again. She wanted to show her new friend a photo if she could find it. "It's one of my favorite rooms there. Only, this library is slightly smaller and doesn't have the self rotating globes.

"There's a lot of fascinating books in here but some that are as dry as your great grandmother's hands," she paused, not sure where that remark came from but shrugged before going back to her search for the photograph. "I swear it's in here somewhere...." she muttered, still searching.

"Ah!" she finally said and a few students looked up at her since her voice raised louder than it was. "Sorry," she mouthed to them and really was. She then pulled out the photograph to show to her friend.



It was then that she realized her determination to find the photograph and upon looking at it now that she was a little homesick herself. Not so much for the home, but the happiness that was created for the first time that Summer but Alina knew that happiness no longer existed.

Haley appreciated it very much and was happy that Alina felt similar to herself. The girl became more and more likeable to her and she had a feeling that a great friendship would develop out of this. She smiled at the thought of how they went together on the search for secret rooms and corridors or sneaked through the castle at night in a forbidden way.

Haley was curious about the picture that Alina wanted to show her. She could not imagine that there was a more beautiful library in this world than this one. She watched Alina patiently as she rummaged in her bag.

"Wow!" Haley marveled. She didn't know what to say for a few moments. She looked at the picture, tried to catch every little detail. "I love the giant globes. They look amazing!" Haley couldn't stop being amazed "And the architecture! The dome is magical." Haley wished she had such a special room in her home, but she couldn't create anything special. But she would do anything to be able to visit this library.

"Are there any more of these incredible rooms at your place?" Haley grinned softly at Alina and was curious what else Alina could tell her.

Haley was a little bit sad that she couldn't tell Alina something great from her life but Haley just couldn't find anything exciting. Since her father is a Muggle, they hardly have any special magical things or rooms at home. And also otherwise they lived in a very modest house with a small front garden, the back garden was beautiful and huge but in Haleys opinion not half as special as the library she just got to see.

"Probably none as great as that one," she shrugged. "Although one pool in particular, the mermaid pool, is my favorite but I haven't got a photo of that. And the Ballroom is rather nice." Still, it was mostly just a big open abandoned home and that wasn't very nice. Maybe Haley was thinking that her new friend here had it all but in terms of what was important, Alina had very little.

"I do warn you though, for every book in this library that you find fascinating, you'll find the never next to be the most dullest thing you've ever read in your life. Always seems to be the way," she said and shook her head. They walked in further and she caught sight of the one corner where her and Clifton would always sit and where they shared a dance together. She closed her eyes, trying not to let the memories come flooding back because they were too hard.

She turned and opened her eyes to see in front of her a long table and there was a fellow Hufflepuff sleeping away. "Oh no." She knew that sometimes the librarian didn't mind the resting students...as long as they didn't snore, but this girl was drooling all over one of the books and she had to do something.

Alina shuffled back through her bag and ripped out a bit of paper from a notebook, crinkled it up into a ball and threw it right at the girl's face. It hit her dead on, bouncing off the cheek, but still didn't wake her. "Looks like we've got ourselves a heavy sleeper," she sighed, pausing for a moment after looking back into her bag. She then brought out one of her lemon drops and tossed it across the space, once again hitting the girl right on the cheek and this time, being a heavier object, caused her to wake up. "Shhh, over here, hurry!" she said and grabbed Haley's wrist gently and tugged her over away from the study table.

No use getting someone all mad. All she was doing was helping! "Act normal."

Haley was surprised about how it was most normal for Alina to have such an incredibly huge home with all those extraordinary rooms. But when you grow up in one place all your life, it's just a habit, Haley thought. She did not judge her new friend for it, but was still very interested in what she told her.

She eagerly listened to Alina's words and nodded her approval every now and then and had to laugh softly. In one moment Alina suddenly stopped and looked sadly into the nothingness, Haley at least could not see anything. Haley thought about if she should ask but she felt that this was not the right moment and after Alina quickly got back her composure they discovered a sleeping girl.

Haley had to suppress a laugh and made a disgusted noise for a short time when she saw how a big amount of drool ran from the girl onto the book.

Haley watched Alinas trying to wake up the girl and started looking around to see if she could find something better to throw, but unfortunately without success. After Alina finally made it, she grabbed Haley's arm. Haley didn't know what happened until she found herself at the next corner of a bookcase.

When she heard Alina's words to behave normally, Haley couldn't suppress her laughter "You are funny!" she tried to say more quietly "I think it was quite normal to save the book from drowning." Haley laughed quietly again. "Actually she should owe you a pack of lemon drops" Haley said with conviction.

At that moment, Haley knew that they would experience many other things here at Hogwarts. She was looking forward to it immensely. Haley was always up for an adventure, even if she sometimes had to break the rules. Nevertheless, everything always stayed within the limits and it never ended very badly.

"Well, which person or object will we save next?" Haley smiled at Alina.

"Ooh, we could be like muggle superheros but in magical form," she said and gave that some thought. "I wonder if anyone DOES need saving. Do you think any of the professors are here against their will? Do you think the ghosts can or want to be ...elsewhere? Do you think the elves want to be free that work in the kitchens or hospital wing?"

So many thoughts went quickly through her mind. "What if the Giant Squid in the Great Lake was enslaved there?" she gasped. "That would be absolutely awful!" And suddenly she was feeling awful. It extended to so much more. The Monster Book of Monsters that had a reaction if you didn't open it correctly - was it any sort of alive? Did any of the plants in the Greenhouse in Herbology not wish to be there?

"Or I wonder if there's any injustices that could be righted, any inequalities that could be corrected. Maybe the professors are getting unfair pay compared to that of other wizarding schools..."

Alina placed her bag on the table in front of them and pulled out a notebook to begin to write down some ideas. But then she then looked up to her friend and smiled widely, "...or maybe it's me that's going a little overboard," she said more softly. That was probably it. That was usually it. Sometimes Alina could come on a little too strong. "...Maybe something like random acts of kindness would be better. Or just picking something new to learn about often. Have our own sort of Explorers Club."

Haley had to laugh, Alina got so involved in the topic within a few seconds that they arrived at enslaved giant squids from drooling books.

"Wooow! Take it easy," Haley laughed to her, "take it easy, one after the other." Haley spoke more quietly now, after all they were still in the library. "I find accidental acts of kindness and our own kind of research club is a good start! Who knows where this will lead us, maybe we will free a squid one day" Haley winked at Alina.

She thought it was very cute how Alina went over the top and didn't think it was bad at all. Haley's fantasy also went over with her sometimes and could understand her friend only too well.
"I guess it is best to start with little things, like saving books from saliva or finding secret passages and rooms or scurrying through the castle at night without being noticed..." Haley loved the idea of being able to explore the castle without having a crowd of students coming towards her every few meters or blocking the view of possible interesting things. "Or..." Haley broke off and had to laugh "I think I'm losing myself now".

"I guess we'll agree on that and some day we can tell many exciting and funny stories" Haley smiled at her friend with conviction.
She took a sheet of parchment out of her bag and noted "The stories of" She thought about it for a moment and then looked questioningly at Alina "What should we call ourselves? Do you have a cool idea?"

She made a dot above the unfinished headline and wrote down information about today's date, time and place and noted "Founding day, how Alina full of heroism saved a girl from trouble and a book from drowning".
She had to smile and remembered the words she had heard so often from her mother "Haley, you have so much nonsense in your head".

Alina had to smile at her imitating her mother. Her mother sounded much like her own grandmother growing up and several of the childminder/governesses that her and her twin sister Bella had growing up. Thankfully Juliette was never that way, that had been her favorite of the governesses although right now she wasn't a current fan the way she was toying with her father's emotions and leading him on this perhaps futile wild goose chase.

"The world needs more nonsense. Too much in life is more serious than it needs to be. We're here to enjoy this," and even with the important things in life - if you focused too much on the negative or worried too much about something, then the problem only strengthened and became worse.

"One of the earliest books I can remember reading was Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. Despite being a perhaps total child perv, he wrote words that pertain well here. You're mad, bonkers, completely off your head. But I'll tell you a secret, All the best people are. Sad others don't always see that though... Maybe that's what we should call ourselves, just Bonkers, like a sort of two person club name? Or we met outside talking about flowers. We could be The Wild Flowers," But she looked to Haley and knew they weren't the best.

"My first pet was a little canary. I named her Bird so...while i may be a bit nonsensical, I'm not always very inventive," she laughed.

Maybe Haley had some ideas for their name. Either way, it was fun knowing that not only did she make a new friend but they would make sure to find time to interact with one another as the year progressed. That's sort of how her and her good friend Rose Moon got so close - but theirs was being study buddies as Charms partners.

"Yes, girl! that's just the way to think!" Halye was very happy that Alina thought like herself. We are here to enjoy this, Haley repeated in her head and knew that she would note this quote down on a list later.

"Oh yes, Alice in Wonderland. I agree with you!" She nodded in agreement with Alina and when she finished her sentences Haley looked at her seriously "We are all mad here. I'm mad, You're mad." And tried to grin as wide as the Cheshire Kitten always did.

"I don't think Bonkers is so bad, but we can still think about it a bit and decide that later " Haley had to laugh out loud when Alina told her the story with the bird. "Bird!" she laughed further and was afraid for a moment, they were still in the library and Haley had been too loud for that again. At the same moment she heard annoyed murmuring and whispered "Excuse me!

"I think I should leave the library for now" Haley smiled embarrassed. Haley looked at the clock and was shocked how much time had already passed. "I'm sorry, but I really have to go! I have to finish an essay for tomorrow." She hoped very much that Alina would not be angry on her.

"I was really pleased and thank you for the guided tour! I hope to see you again soon!"
She didn't want to be rude and now leave so suddenly, Haley felt the bad conscience coming up in her, but she had no other choice. She didn't want to make a bad impression in the first weeks because she didn't do her homework.
