Dear Haley,

It looks like we were all forced to write these pen pals then, anyway my friend and I talked about the hogwarts houses and before and how ridiculous they are, I mean what are they named after? Ilvermony houses are named after creatures but what are hogwarts houses named after?

So you a first year? I'm guessing your 11 then? I'm 12, turn 13 in November but Dumstrang schooling starts when were 10 which explains the year and age difference compared to other schools. I never been to hogwarts through and I'm quite excited to go, what is hogwarts like?

Dumstrang is basically a school full of musty body odor and sore losers, I never minded not having friends here since I have friends at different schools. Dumstrang however doesn't have houses, were in two different dorms based on gender then in those dorms are different rooms at different levels. Your room and level depends on your status at the school, I'm a broom racer so I'm in the middle level and my git of a older brother is at the top because he's "perfect", any other questions about Dumstrang?

Quidditch is awesome! I tryout for the Dumstrang team but didn't make it because I never passed the ball or whatever so instead I'm a broom racer. What team do you like the best? I love the team Falmouth Falcons!

Anyway I better go, my combat class is about to start and I would hate to be late, so write more later I guess. Also I almost forgot but I sent a picture of myself with the letter just in case we ever meet so we know what we look like, the still photo was moving but my git brother jinx it to not move anymore so it's still now anyway I hope you like it.

Dear Haley,

So the houses are named after the surnames of the Hogwarts founders that's cool I guess and sorry about writing so late, the rest of the first years just got back from their survival training in the woods and some of them are a bit shaken up but the experience but what do you expect when you go into the forest with a group of 10 year's old for for a week with no adults, I'm happy that I only had to it once and never again.

What is Hogwarts charm? And Hogwarts enthusiast uh? It's sad that we start at 10, really I rather have not especially since first years have to do that bloody survival training their first week and my gut of a brother wouldn't stop teasing me about it.

But you don't always have to have good memories at school, whoever told you otherwise is wrong Haley. The only good times I have here is when I'm on a broom and that's it, everything else is awful I guess. I only go here because my father and grandfather wanted me to go, not like I wanted to come here but then again all the schools have their bad qualities

Private tour? Uh I may take you up on that, I'm assuming your a pureblood then since you so much about Hogwarts?

Anyway I should it's not only late and I need sleep, my older brother won't stop annoying the first years about their survival training, I better go try to stop him.

don't worry! I also had a lot on my mind the last days. I don't know whether I should find the survival training exciting or scary. It is crazy how much our schools compare to each other. But I still miss the sense/reason why 10-year-olds are sent into the forest alone...

It is hard to describe, but I think you will understand what I mean once you are here. It is just the feeling you got when you are walking around this big place and always discovering new things. I send you some photos of Hogwarts, maybe it helps to explain my strange enthusiasm.

Under this circumstances, I would probably also be happy to start at school later. Somehow everything you say about Dumstrang sounds totally absurd to me.
I guess you don't have such a good relationship to your brother either, when he's teasing you all the time? Why is it so important for your family to attend this school? Would it be an option for you to change schools?

Sure, I'd be happy to. Um... no, my father is a Muggle. But since I've known about all this, I've been trying to ge to know everything I could about Hogwarts. But I do have other things to occupy myself with!

I'm afraid I have to get back to my essay for potions...I don't want to get in more trouble after I'v been late to class.

Nice pictures but I'm afraid I still don't know what you mean by hogwarts charm. All I see in those picture is a empty corridor or old castle, it seems alright but dosen't look like much to brag about not that Dumstrang is any different.

The survival training is a week all trip into the forest that all first partake in their first week of schooling, it's almost like a test to see everyone's strengths and weaknesses but no one ever died during it so it's not so bad. My family either attended Dumstrang or Hogwarts (they were also always sorted into slytherin house). My father went to Dumstrang so he wanted my brother and I to go to, while my cousin goes to Hogwarts but is the biggest git about it and always complains about going there while his younger brother is still too young for school.

Transferring? I come from a strict pure blood family where transferring or giving up doesn't exist, as for my brother our relationship is mutual. I hate him, he hates me and nothing more, we really are polar opposites.

The tour sounds nice then but your a half blood? I didn't expect that, don't worry I don't have prejudiced against blood status but does it feel weird to have less magic than your peers? Was your mother disowned for marrying a muggle?

Nice picture by the way, you look pretty cute. Are you on the broom racing team for Hogwarts? Isn't it true that you guys just created a team this year? I love broom racer and I'm one of the fastest on the Dumstrang team.

Anyway I better go, classes about to start and broom racing practice to get to, looking for to any other owl I guess.

that is not too bad, everyone is different and has others prefer. Just because I love Hogwarts and think it's beautiful doesn't mean that everyone else has to feel the same way.

It's good that no one has ever died, but the fact that it's worth mentioning doesn't speak for it. At least not in my opinion. I think it would be terrible if they put me in the woods for a week in my first year, but I guess you get different and better prepared when you go to Dumstrang. Maybe I would not find it so bad then.

Oh, wow. I guess your family is pretty strict. I always wished I had siblings, but if I read it this way, maybe it's better to be an only child. I had never experienced it that way before but well, you can't choose your family, huh?

Haha, it is amazing how this cliché is still anchored in our society. It has improved over the last decades but I think we will never be able to leave it behind. First of all, my mother was not denied, of course. Fortunately, I could not imagine growing up in a family with so little tolerance and respect. We are generally very open in our family and tolerance, respect & kindness are very important to us.

To answer your other question, it doesn't feel weird and I think it's simply because I have no less magic than my peers. I have never felt at a disadvantage because of my blood status or to have less magic. Actually, I'm always relatively ahead in the classes. At least I could surprise a pureblood with the fact that I am not one.

I really hope this is not a problem for you but you can always be honest with me. I have experienced this some times before and have learned to deal with it.

Thanks, that's sweet. No, I'm not in the team yet but yes you are right, this year a team will be founded. In any case it would be worth considering but unfortunately I don't have that much experience yet.

I guess your right everyone just has different opinions but I'm sure their are amazing things at Hogwarts to! Like the quidditch pitch, I head you guys have a great quidditch pitch, could you send me a picture maybe? Sorry I'm just a big quidditch fan sadly I'm not on the Dumstrang team but I'm a broom racing which is also great, well it would have been better if my brother didn't snap my broom in half during the summer holiday.

Having a sibling can have its perks, like being an only child. My brother and I before Dumstrang were training partners, which means we would go on morning runs together and practicing sparing each other. But things change and now that were both at Dumstrang, he's a asshole git and I would prefer to be an only child. My younger cousin who lives us also has an older brother, around my age except he attends Hogwarts as a slytherin; Colin Alluring is his name and he's a bigger idiot than my brother actually. I sometimes feel bad for my younger cousin but at least he spends most of the year away from him at home even through that isn't any better.

Your lucky to have a family like yours, pureblood's like that are hard to come by in the wizarding world. My family is somewhat strict but their based on traditions and all that crap besides the facts they have high connections in places like the ministry and are pretty wealthy, not like I ever cared since from when I was a child I would either do lessons or train. Fun wasn't something that thrived in the Alluring household but after my first year when they started ignoring me, I got to have some fun. I mean I left them for half the summer this year and stayed at the leaky Cauldron which was pretty cool.

Blood status never matter to me so don't worry I don't care. but isn't true that you had half the chances of becoming a witch by being a halfblood and if you didn't have magic then you would have been a muggle right? Not a squib which is probably worse.

I hope to see you at Hogwarts and just because you not on the broom racing team doesn't mean we can't go flying together! What if you gave me a tour and I take you flying?

As soon as I have some practice and am allowed to apply as a team member, I will definitely try to do so. But broom racing is also great, at least I think so. Yes, I guess I can be happy about my family, but I think there are everywhere advantages and disadvantages, right? Mh I don't know, I just wish I knew more about my family. I just think in our family history there were not always good times. I know that there was bad blood between my mother and her family, but that's in the past. Nevertheless I would like to know more, but nobody tells me anything... Well, maybe I am just too curious? But I am afraid that my family is like yours too. That my mother might have been disowned earlier because of her relationship to my father.

Oh wow, my parents wouldn't allow it but as soon as I'm older I would like to be away from home and travel around alone. What did you do all the time at the leaky cauldron? It is in London, isn’t it?
