Backdated: Late August, 2020

Just a note because this is backdated we cannot use any of the information concerning the squib rights movement that we would have learned at school. If you learned it outside of school that's fine to use.

Angélique, or Angel for her friends, sat down at a table outside of Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor while waiting for people to show up. She wasn’t sure at all who would show up, but she would be grateful if even one person did. The whole month of August so far had been spent being forced to interact with her insufferable cousin Santario. The girl who had single-handedly managed to steal the title of heir right out from under her. Her fist clenched at the mere thought of the girl who was younger than her by only a handful of months.

No, today is supposed to be a good day with friends no need to think about her and spoil it. A hand reached up and flipped some of her honey hair off her shoulder as she looked up at the server who approached. “Just a few more moments if you would. I am expecting some other people.” The summer day was pleasant, not too hot, with a lovely breeze that flowed through the streets every now and again. This allowed her to dress in a pair of white shorts, a cold shoulder short-sleeved black shirt with two white stripes on each sleeve, and black flats. She looked around for anyone she might recognize besides her grandmother, who was currently shopping for both Angel and her cousin.

Sylvie was more than happy to have escaped the dryness of the place she'd been staying at for the past few weeks. After all, once the initial shock of being near so many animals had worn off, it had become a bit dull. The two Everest elders simply ignored her unless they had no other choice, and Miranda had spent the majority of her time hidden away in places Sylvie couldn't locate. The only point of interest was the younger of her two cousins, Cedar, but it was mostly in avoiding the pranks he set up in a seemingly endless amount. It was truly testing the edges of her already strained patience. At least back in France she could go for a walk, perhaps see some sites - but with the Everests, the most Sylvie was allowed to do was go for a short hike around the farm. And there was nothing more unbearable to someone as action-loving as she was.

However, after a week or so of having Sylvie almost literally bouncing off of the walls, it had been decided that all of the children, Miranda and Cedar included, could go to Diagon Alley for a much needed chance to explore. After using the Floo Network to arrive, Sylvie had done her best to leave her cousins behind as soon as possible and range out on her own.

That was why she found herself walking along the street, gazing around at the storefronts with her typical wide-eyed excitement. It was, after all, something new to take in. But it was outside the Ice Cream Parlour that she chanced upon a truly welcome sight. Sitting at one of the tables outside was none other than Angel, one of her friends from Beauxbatons. As was the norm for Sylvie, she didn't bother questioning the luck that had led to this meeting. Instead, she simply accepted it for what it was and was glad with that.

"*Salut, Ange!" Sylvie called, waving to make herself easier to see. Her enthusiasm leaked into her words, which were a smidge louder than was necessary, not that she cared. "**Je n'ai sais pas que tu était ici!"
*Hey, Angel!
**I didn't know you were here!
Note: Sylvie knows English as well, but she tends to default towards French.

Angel looked around, ready to give up that she would see anyone she knew her; maybe they got busy and decided not to come. It was a hit to the ego when people bailed out at the last minute; it made her think that maybe they only pretended to be her friends, but if they didn’t want to come, they should have just said no. It was as simple as that and her feelings would have been much less hurt. She rested her elbow on the table that she sat at, and her face rested on her hand.

However, only a few minutes later did she hear someone call out to her and in French no less! Angel perked up and looked around, her green eyes landing on one of her friends, one of the ones she wasn’t originally expecting to see here. “Sylvie, such a pleasant surprise! My Grand-mère is here doing shopping for my dreadful cousin that goes to Hogwash. Please sit, have some ice cream with me if you aren’t too busy. What are you doing here?” Angel was over the moon to finally have someone to talk to; waiting for her grandmother to shop for her cousin was so boring because she wasn’t getting anything, so why should she want to go help?

"Jacqueline, je vous y trouverez dans 30 minutes."1 Her grandmother's stern, authoritative voice seemed to be heard for miles around. Many heads turned at the sudden loud noise, but when they saw who it was, everyone quickly got back to whatever they had been doing before. Jac sighed to herself but nodded, knowing that's what her grandmother was expecting.

"Oui, grand-mère."2 The young girl had just told her grandmother she was going to Floreans Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour. In reality, she was going to go look at Quidditch supplies - but her grandmother didn't need to know that. Jac knew that if she found out, she would tell her that she should be occupying her mind with other, more "ladylike" things, so the girl just chose to not tell her at all.

The pair went their separate ways, Jac going in the direction of the ice cream parlour in the beginning but then turning in the direction of the Quidditch supplies store instead. Ignoring the many admiring glances she received from the people around her, the soon to be Beauxbatons first year opened the door of the shop and walked inside, her posture perfect as she wandered from case to case of Quidditch things. After what seemed like only seconds, eight and a half minutes had gone by and Jac knew she had to leave the store if she wanted to get to the parlour on time.

Giving one last longing glance at the brooms in the front display window, Jacqueline hurried off down the street. Arriving at the shop, Jac saw a table with two other girls sitting at it and walked over, giving them a quick smile when she heard them speaking in french, Jacqueline's native language. "Puis-je m'asseoir ici?"3 she asked them politely.
1 - Jacqueline, I'll find you there in 30 minutes.
2 - Yes, Grandmother
3 - May I sit here?
OOC: Sorry if these phrases aren't exact, my french isn't very good.

"Merci!" Sylvie exclaimed in response to Angelique's offer, bounding over to take a seat. She almost tipped the chair over in the process, but recovered without breaking stride and continued talking again. She wasn't normally so clumsy, but the inherent relief from finding one of her friends on what had been an interesting yet mostly uneventful trip wasn't helping. "Est-ce que tu as vraiment dit qu'un de tes cousins va au Poudlard? Ça c'est intéressant! Mes deux cousins sur le côté de ma mère va aussi! Mais ils sont plus ennuyeux qu'épouvantable." She shrugged, her smile not fading a bit. It took her a moment to finally remember the question Angel had asked her in the first place, but she then responded with the same excitement as with all her other words, even if it it wasn't exactly needed. "Je suis ici parce que mes parents ont avais décider d'aller à l'Afrique pour voir une portion de la famille le bas. Apparentement je ne suis pas "convenable" pour ce type de visite, alors ils ont mis moi avec mes cousins."

Movement from beside her made Sylvie turn her head, and she somehow smiled even wider upon hearing the french words being spoke by the fair-haired girl. She glanced at Angelique for a moment, then back at the newcomer. "Bien sûr, tu peux! Il y a beaucoup d'espace pour les autres!" Sylvie gestures at some of the empty seats at their table, then settled back into her own chair.
1~ Thanks!
2~ Did you really say that one of your cousins goes to Hogwarts? That's really interesting! Both of my cousins on my mother's side go there as well! But they're more boring than dreadful.
3~ I'm here because my parents decided to go to Africa to see a portion of the family there. Apparently I'm not "appropriate" for that kind of visit, so they left me with my cousins.
4~ Of course you can. There's lots of space for others!
Also, don't worry about your french Allie. It's my second language, so I'm probably getting some stuff wrong as well.

This was Madeleine's first time in London, and she had been having a great time so far. She didn't get the opportunity to travel a whole lot, but when she did, she always wore her mother down to taking her sight-seeing. Today had been no exception. Her mother had taken her all around the Muggle city to look at the landmarks - something Maddie really loved to do. Architecture and old buildings and pretty sights were like her bread and butter, and London was full of beauty!

Now Maddie had been dropped off in Diagon Alley - a famous wizarding location at the heart of the city - to meet up with her best friend Cassanora. The two girls had bonded a lot during their first year at Beauxbatons. Even though they did not share a passion for dance like most of Maddie's other friends, they had bonded on other levels. Once they met up, the two girls spent an hour or so window shopping (mainly Cass showing Maddie around) before they were due to meet up with Angel. Maddie had been owling her this summer and learned that they would be here on the same day, so they were all going to meet up for ice cream!

"There she is!" Maddie pointed out in her native tongue, seeing her honey-blonde friend Angelique sitting outside of the ice cream shop. There were a couple of other girls there too, but Maddie didn't immediately recognize them. She and Cass had hooked arms at some point during their browsing, and now Maddie used that leverage to hurry her best friend towards the shop.

"Angel!" Maddie greeted, gracefully seating herself at one of the chairs beside her. The table was perfectly big enough to accommodate all the girls, with one spot left for Cassanora. "I'm so happy to see you!" she said, before turning her attention to the other two occupants of the table. Up close, she recognized the brunette (Sylvie) from school, but the other girl (Jacqueline) was unfamiliar to her. "Hello, I'm Madeleine," she introduced politely. "Do you both go to Beauxbatons, too?"

Spending the summer holidays in the UK was something Cass had grown used to by now. Her father had been a professor at the British school of magic for well over a year now. For most of her life she had known him to be a busy man, often away from home and working long hours. He claimed it was to provide for them. Recently though, she had grown weary of the way his mind seemed to just go on and on about his profession. Nevertheless, she did try to enjoy the time she got to spend with him. Recently having made trips to New Zealand and Rome, there had been fond memories she collected. There was of course the woman. A colleague of her father she had the pleasure of meeting earlier this month.

Cass silently gritted her teeth as she felt her arm getting tugged on by Maddie. 'Nora had almost forgotten where she was for a second. Her head snapped back to her friend as Mads locked arms with her. "Hm?" The Browne girl huffed a bit absent-mindedly. Staring at some bookshop they passed by, Cass made sure to show Maddie her excitement for later. "Ice cream first though, as promised." She smirked a bit towards her friend.

Ever since they met in their first year, the two of them had grown a liking towards one another. Being friends ever since, had allowed them to survive their initial year of the French Academy. There were quite some differences in their interests though, despite being friends. Maddie was all about dancing, Cass was often envious about just the way Mads was able to walk and move around with precise elegance. She often found herself a brutish bookwielder in her presence, though that title sort of made her grin a little when she thought about it. Cassanora liked books and potions. Studying was her subject, nothing specific about it. She would simply hoard as much information she could gather.

Still, she was her father's daughter. Fits of crazy were not unlike her. She liked having a bit of wild fun now and then and music- ah, music! She loved it so much. The young Browne would dance to every catchy tune, though not as professional as Maddie would have done it. The thought of her performing any of her dad's moves next to Mads seemed funny in her mind. A small giggle escaped her breath before her friend called out to someone.

Following after or rather, dragged behind her friend. Cass grinned towards the assembly of girls. "Hello there" She spoke softly, suppressing her excitement a bit. She smiled towards Angel and turned to meet the newer faces. "Cassanora, at your service." 'Nora made sure to curtsy a bit in jest before taking place on the final seat at the table. As Maddie began asking the others some questions, Cass silently tugged a bit on her braid. Pursing her lips together as she tried to read what the others were like, briefly trying to lock eyes with Angel and see how she was feeling today.

Angel smiled as Sylvie took the offered seat even if it was done less than gracefully, something she would not point out. An off-handed shrug would be given when the comment of a cousin going to Hogwarts was cool. She certainly just saw it as the more significant notion of her aunt’s defiance and thinking she was better than everyone else. Angel laughed softly when Sylvie said she was not appropriate to be taken to Africa with her family. “Knowing you, you would try to go run with the lions and almost get eaten!” She laughed harder, knowing her friend to be stubborn but adventurous, always wanting to be outdoors, and not a soul in the world who could tame the girl, which is probably why they got along so well.

A question posed asking if another could take a seat, and Sylvie answered before she could, so she accompanied it with a nod. “Yes, there are plenty of seats, please join us!” It would not take long before she heard her name in the familiar voice of her friend. “Madeline! Cassanora!” She squealed in delight and immediately wrapped her arms around Madeline’s shoulders after the girl sat down, pulling her into a swift hug before releasing her. Her life was now complete with her friends, her lifeline. She didn’t know what she would do without them. She caught Cassanora’s eyes and gave her a truly warm-hearted smile as today was the best day of August for her. "I'll try to catch the server's eye so we can get some ice cream now!" She would look in the window of the shop and after a moment she would finally catch the eye of their attendant. With a small, polite hand gesture letting them know they were ready.

While she was not nearly as passionate about dancing as Madeline was, she found that it kept her limber and helped her control her broom during broom racing. Cassanora would have been her savior when it came to studying. Angel always felt like studying was far more of a chore than a hobby unless it came to languages. Once you got Angel talking about languages, it was hard to get her to shut up sometimes. Though none of it compared to her training for broom racing, not even in the slightest. Feeling the crisp air hitting her lungs in the early morning jogs she took before breakfast, having the handle of her broom fit flawlessly in her hands, and finally the feeling of being free as she took to the sky When she was up in the air, it was like nothing and no one could stop her or get in her way, she was free of everything. Free of the weight she carried placed continuously there by her grandmother, free of the hatred she held for her cousin, free of the expectations in life, just free.

"Thank you," Jacqueline told the girl in French, which seemed to be the language the two other girls were most comfortable with, since they had been speaking quite fluently in it just a bit ago. Jac sat there for a few seconds quietly, unsure of what to do. Both other girls appeared to know each other well. . . but the girl had never had a hard time joining in on conversations. Right as she was opening her mouth to say something, she heard someone coming from behind her, calling out a name.

When Jac turned around, curious, she saw two other girls approaching their table with bright smiles on their faces. The one who she guessed had called out the name had a very graceful manner in which she did everything, from sitting down to introducing herself, the mark of a good dancer. The other girl had acted a little quieter so far, but there was something about her that made her seem intelligent. The two were quite different, from what Jac could see, but they seemed to be close friends.

"I'm Jacqueline," Jac said, introducing herself with a charming smile to the rest of the girls at the table. In response to Madeline's question, she added, "I was accepted around a week ago, so this September will be my first time at Beauxbatons. I've heard great things about it, though." Jac hoped she could get to know these other girls, it would be nice to know other students when she arrived, even if they were a year ahead of her.

Angel told the group she would get their server's attention so they could get some ice cream, probably the reason the rest of the girls had gathered anyway. Jacqueline nodded. Maybe it hadn't been a bad idea to come to the ice cream parlour so much earlier than she needed to, because now she had time to actually talk to these other girls instead of having to leave in a few minutes. Remembering her suspicion that Madeline was a dancer, she turned to the girl and asked her about it. "Do you dance? I've done it since I was very young." It was a little straightforward, but Jac would explain why she had guessed that if she was correct.
OOC: I decided to keep everything simple by not using the actual French words. . . :P

True, it is quite a bother to write french :S So I guess I'll just use bold
Sylvie couldn't help but look up in surprise when yet another voice spoke up in french, this one vaguely familiar, as if she'd heard it before. Almost immediately afterwards, a tall girl with warm brown eyes and dark brown hair, and another brown eyed and blonde haired girl sat down. It was the first one, who'd introduced herself as Madeleine, that had spoken.

The other girl was quick to introduce herself as Cassanora, but Sylvie was distracted from fully digesting that by Madeleine's question, which seemed to be directed towards her and Jacqueline. The younger girl answered first, saying she was a soon-to-be-first year at Beauxbatons. Sylvie's face immediately split into a broad smile. The blonde-haired girl seemed nice - she would be a good addition to the student body. And who knew? Maybe she and Sylvie could become friends!

"Hey, I go there as well!" Sylvie exclaimed, as she tended to do most of the time. For her, there were two levels of loudness: loud and very loud. She didn't really do quiet. She also tended to say what she thought as soon as she thought it, more or less. "That's really cool! I guess I'll see you there when first term starts!" Sylvie turned to face Madeleine and Cassanora. "And I guess you both go to Beauxbatons too, then? I think I've seen you both there last year!"
