Pulling up with a success, Søren was beginning to think that this wasn’t so bad after all. Sure, he hated dumping his face into the tub, but the feeling of absolute win was nice for once. At Hogwarts, it always felt like he was losing. No close friends to speak of, abysmal grades, a terrible arcane track record. A win at apple popping… or bobbing or whatever it’s called would be a small achievement and nothing to write home about – he wished he could be comfortable enough to write home – but it could be the catalyst for an exciting year. Hopefully one without secret danger balls and common room spider attacks.

He deposited the apple elsewhere and continued to eat from his first, observing the rest of the competition. It seemed the majority were on the board for points and the lack of disgusted looks probably meant that rotten apples had been avoided for the most part. The same boy from before was on the ground, though Søren had no idea why. This didn’t seem like the type of game where wresting could come into play. However, he could totally imagine Ami knocking the boy onto his behind.

As he looked on at his rivals, he grew accustomed to the feeling of chilly water on his face. It was a wonderful sensation, reminding him of the cooling globes he used on his skin every night before bed. Hm, maybe this water could be good for him. That, or he would wake up tomorrow with a face full of acne that not even a Cure for Boils potion could settle.

@Lucille Williams has been skipped this round.

Seemingly wanting to get revenge on @May Moonstar on behalf of his new (?) Gryffindor comrade, @Henry Knight reached for his wand to cast the Tarantallegra on the poor Hufflepuff. Neither Ami nor May noticed his action, but it didn't matter all that much; the spell missed May completed while her face was in the tub, fishing around for an apple, so no harm was done, and Ami wouldn't have to slap the living daylights out of the Slytherin second year.

Speaking of May, she managed to retrieve another good apple, tearing her head out of the water with such force that she nearly fell over backwards. And as if that same energy had been transmitted over to her, @Callie Jensen acted similarly, making Ami wonder if the two girls were okay. Were they having seizures? No... they seemed to be alright, for the most part. Maybe they were just super excited to be dunking their faces into cold water over and over again. "Careful there, you guys," she called out as she passed by. "I'm glad you're excited, but I don't want you to crack your skulls open from falling, y'know?"

While @Miranda Everest seemed to be successful at first glance, upon closer inspection, she would realize that she'd actually bit into a rotten apple. Shooting the girl a sympathic smile, Ami said, "Tough luck... I can grab you a water bottle if you wanna wash the taste out." If Miranda said yes, Ami would grab one of the left-over water bottle from the bottle flipping event and hand it to her; if not, then she'd simply shrug and move on. The smell from the apple was quite gross, but the damage had been done- the apple would be deposited into her bowl, and unfortunately, she'd lose a point. At least she didn't swallow any of the rotten bits, right?

@Zykeal Lane had accepted her hand up, which Ami took to be a good side, and it seemed that he had chosen to sit and quietly observe his fellow classmates' actions. She couldn't say it was the smartest idea, as there was no possible way that he'd get one of the prizes now, but hey. Who was she to judge? Had she not given up in a similar way during the Egg Race last year, after nearly shoulder-checking @Søren Silverwood into another dimension? At least he wasn't hexing anyone else, anymore...

Speaking of Søren, he didn't seem to be faring too well. Apparently, he seemed a little too eager to go for another apple, and like Henry before him, he toppled into the chilly water, being submerged up to about his shoulders before Ami sighed and pulled him out. "Jesus Christ, you guys," she grumbled, untying her still-slightly-damp flannel from her waist and thrusting it towards Silverwood for him to use as a towel. "You really just want to use my clothes as towels, don't you?" Under her breath, she added to herself, "I really should've brought towels."

Henry took his head out from the tub water as he ran a hand through his hair to push any fallen strands of hair out of his eyes, he saw that his spell has missed May dramatically as he silently cursed himself. Henry also took that the fourth year, Ami, he thought he name was did seem to have noticed him but he saw that Zykeal had and was currently observing the situation so Henry knew that he had to try again but before he could think of anymore, Henry saw the other second year with seeming smooth skin tumble into the tub and felt bad for him since that's what Henry did as he spoke over to him " are you alright there, man?" Henry then saw Miranda come up with a rotten apple making Henry step back abruptly but keep his wand hidden in his jacket sleeve with his hand as he then spoke to Miranda " you didn't bite any piece of that off did you?"

Henry then took note that Callie and May brought up to more apples a bit to excited for this but never less, he still felt like getting some pay back for Zykeal when he should have been minding his own business instead and bobbing for a apple, instead he felt like helping probably with all his thoughts on his hidden life and family which prompted him to help. Henry then quickly looked around at everyone as he gripped his wand tight in his left hand but kept his wand and hand concealed in his jacket sleeve as he watched Ami help the boy who just fell into the tub get dry which would have served as the perfect moment as Henry barley rose his wand so it was just pointing at May and muttered under his breath "Flipendo," before ever so slightly tracing the wand movement for the spell.

Henry then placed his hand with his wand hidden in the sleeve on the edge of the tub to hide it some more before dunking his head into his tub and letting the icy water surround his face as he pretended to bob so no one would noticed what this mischievous twelve year old just did.

Oh. No.

Miranda spat the apple from her mouth, barely paying attention as the rotten sphere bounced and rolled its way away from their little group. Disgusting.

She'd feared it would happen, and apparently it had. Her apple - which had looked normal from the outside, had been rotten. And Miranda had bitten it. Eurgh. It was horrible, without a doubt.

Although, it made sense. Now that Miranda thought back, the apple had seemed a little darker in shade than many of the others. She should've known something was wrong, but she hadn't stopped to think about it, and was now paying the price.

The red-head - Miranda had to find out her name - offered her a water bottle, which she gratefully accepted with a murmured thanks, swallowing large gulps in an attempt to wash the taste out. It didn't work too well, but it was better than nothing. With a sigh, Miranda walked over to where her rotten apple had rolled, and picked it up gingerly, holding the sobbing wet item at arm's length. She dropped it into her bowl with a sigh, knowing she'd lost points for it.

Seriously, who's idea had that been? Not only did she lose a point, the whole thing was overly disgusting. Miranda shot the red-head a wary glance, wondering whether it had been her idea.

With an even wearier sigh, she turned back to the vat. Now, because of her mess-up, she was even farther behind. That meant Miranda had to work even harder to get ahead. And, you know, try not to mess up again. That would help too.

Apple bobbing was a brilliant way to spend an afternoon, it was simply a shame people like Henry seemed intent on ruining it. He may have been trying to be subtle about it but Callie had certainly taken notice of how he hadn’t pulled up a single apple in quite some time. It was as though he wasn’t even trying in the first place, which struck Callie as rather odd. It wasn’t exactly difficult to bring up an apple. However she didn’t voice any of her suspicions and instead moved herself back towards the marked spot. Henry may not have been bothered about winning but Callie certainly was. She hadn’t had any awful luck yet! There was still a chance! Although she couldn’t quite shake the feeling that something..strange was going on. As she waited for her turn Callie seemed significantly quieter than usual. Instead she waited patiently while tugging at the sleeves of her shirt, keeping an eye on Henry. He was acting strange and something was up, Callie was almost certain or it.

Regardless when her time came Callie stopped her fidgeting to wander up to the spot, silently praying she wouldn’t bring up a rotten apple. Judging by the look on Miranda’s face, biting into them didn’t exactly seem like her idea of a good time. So eventually with significant less..enthusiasm compared to her past attempts Callie pushed her head under the way water to bob for another apple.

Until now, Søren had never experienced the feeling of water gushing up his nose. He was always careful when swimming, never jumping off the tall board or diving too deep. This was a whole new confrontation. He pulled himself out of the tub, gasping for breath and rubbing helplessly at his nose that just wouldn’t stop burning. “Not really,” he sputtered back to his classmate, attempting to hack the water out of his system. Unable to find any comfort, he decided to accept that this was his norm now. His life would clearly continue on forever with a stinging sensation somewhere in his sinuses. Ami approached, offering her clothes and making some wisecrack. It was his sentiment to retort, but the pain in his nose and the water in his eyes kept him from doing so. Instead, his accepted her flannel with a, “Thanks.” After gingerly wiping the water from his skin, he tossed the flannel back to the girl.

Of course, his winning streak came to an end. He remembered one other girl keeping up with him, and she probably pulled ahead with his failure here. On the bright side, someone had pulled up a rotten apple, though he couldn’t see who through his blurred vision. Huffing, he blinked away some of the water and went in for another try, slowly.

Zykeal sat there, stood there, whatever he was doing at the time it was just observing the surroundings of the contest that was happening. After Henry had missed his original spell, it seemed, no one besides him had noticed his inaccuracy at the moment. The Slytherin persisted though and tried again, Zykeal wanted to call out to object to the continued confrontation that the boy insisted on inflating, but, he stayed quiet and twisted the white wand through his fingers and watched to see what would happen next. Observant eyes stayed wary upon his peers and he watched as they dived for apples and did their best to win the contest.

This wasn't something Zykeal was interested in, in fact, he enjoyed watching others cast spells and learned from everyone their style. It was his passion, after all, his obsession to exceed those around him when it came to spellwork. For now, he'd watch the girl Callie, seeing that she was indeed leading the competition at the moment and wondered if he should offer her a little kick into the ice-cold water to try and even out the competition some. It would be funny, but, it wasn't like him to envoke such a punishment for one who didn't deserve such things. The thing was, even though she seemed to act in slight in defense of May, he couldn't be sure.

A hum came from him then, a tune of a song, his Irish accent being pushed forward as he sang the song to himself, "In Dublin next arrived, I thought it such a pity" he continued, "To be soon deprived a view of that fine city" and smiled as he watched the contest as he tapped his foot jovially, content with watching the contest and the spell being cast, "Well then I took a stroll, all among the quality" and his voice picked up a bit as the beat in his head strengthened, "Bundle it was stole, all in a neat locality" and he continued the song, singing it to himself as he kept an observant eye upon everyone else, ready to jump into any more confrontation that presented itself to him.

@Lucille Williams and @May Moonstar have been skipped this round.

Ami really just couldn't catch a break. She'd been hoping for a nice, clean game and some wholesome fun, but apparently these second years were a lot edgier than she remembered them being. Maybe she should've thought of a more engaging game...? Sighing slightly, she wondered just what she'd gotten herself into, and decided that maybe she just... shouldn't do stuff like this in the future. What was the point in putting yourself out there if no one appreciated it?

Her jaw dropped open in surprise as she watched @Henry Knight attempt to jinx May while her back was turned, which was just about the rudest thing Ami had ever seen. "Hey, what the heck?" she exclaimed, marching over to him. "What's your problem, kid?" she yelled, her cheeks starting to flush with anger. First @Zykeal Lane, and now him? Reaching out before she could even process what she was doing, Ami grabbed Henry's wand from his hand, tucking it into the waistband of her jeans. "You'll get this back at the end of this, if you apologize to May," she said sternly, leveling a glare at the Slytherin.

Over on the other side of the metaphorical pond, @Callie Jensen seemed to on a roll, following up her string of successes with yet another good apple. Maybe she had some apple magnet in her mouth? She didn't doubt that there was some sort of magical device that could attract apples to you. @Søren Silverwood seemed to bounce back from his unfortunate tumble as well, grabbing another good apple with the grace and precision of a professional apple-bobber. Plus, on the bright side, it didn't even look like his nose had grazed the surface of the water!

Unfortunately, falling face-first into water seemed to be a recurring issue with this group. @Miranda Everest fell straight into the tub, and Ami immediately hurried over to her side, quickly pulling the girl out. "Goodness gracious..." she murmured, handing Miranda her now-comunal flannel-turned-towel. "Tough luck, man," she commented, remembering that she'd been the one who had gotten the rotten apple just moments before.

Glancing around, Ami desperately tried to come up with a quick and simple energizer that would renew the second years' interest in the game. "Alright, uh..." she called out, before the idea had actually formed completely in her head. "We're gonna add one little twist, okay?" Clearing her throat as she stalled, she blurted out, "I know you're all... pent up and angry. I get it. So, after you bob for an apple, you're welcome to try and slap me as hard as you can. Anywhere you want! Whoever I think slaps me the hardest will get two bonus points."

... maybe they thought bodily harm was funny? Who knows!

Before Henry could see if his spell hit, he felt his wand pulled from his grip as he turn and found Ami who spoke to him before dealing with another who fell into the tub, Henry didn't care about the game anymore and at the moment his mind was clouded with thoughts on his hidden life and family which worsen his anxiety and overall made for rash and irrational thoughts and behavior as the anxious boy felt his heart pound and head throb, the hair on his arms stood up on ends as he ran a quick hand through his hair as the anxious twelve year felt nauseous to as he started to walk toward Ami.

Henry stood right in front of the fourth year as he felt his nerves and anxiety crawl over him and float over his head, he ran a quick hand through his hand and opened his mouth then shut it again. He was truly nervous and his always looking anxiety didn't help especially when he add to talk to people, particularly older people, specifically older people who were armed while he was defenseless which pit Henry more on edge as he begun to speak to her " I would like my wand back, this event clearly has it's winner even if everyone slaps you in the face," Henry held his hand out as he continued " so give it up so I can leave this blood event," Henry would then snatched his wand back as he muttered to her " thanks," his anxiety and nerves clearly showing that he was more nervous, nauseous, and terrified then anything else.

Henry would then place his wand back inside his pocket and begin to leave the event as he thought he heard singing and saw that Zykeal was actually singing and watching, Henry didn't watch to long since he was a moody tween with too much on his mind plus anxiety to make matters worse as he walked away and was now a few feet away from the event, Henry noticed a rock on the ground and got a idea.

Granted be was weak and barley had any strength to him so while he was intelligent, that didn't matte1r to his strength or muscles both he has none of but that didn't stop the boy from picking up that rock and throwing it at the person with the most points to give the others a chance, he threw it as Callie as hard as he could before running out of the grounds and away from Ami as fast as he could.

Unknown to the other and more than a few feet away Henry was hiding behind a few trees and boxes laid out in the grounds, he only wanted to see if his rock hit Callie and help the others at any point.

The humming of the Irish tune continued, he watched once again as the spell from Henry was cast and it missed due to the actions of the moderator of their game, Ami. Honestly, the snatching of one's wand to Zykeal was completely off-limits, if the girl were to have touched his wand, he probably would have exploded and declared the girl a mortal enemy. Fortunately, that wasn't the case and he watched as the girl confronted the second-year Slytherin and listened to the conversation between the two. Henry seemed flustered to him, angry, and quite unsure what to do in the situation he was currently in.

As he monitored that series of events, he also noted that the others seemed to be fairing quite poorly beside the one girl who he had mixed feelings about. This wasn't anything new, the group at large simply didn't seem to do well at the muggle game and it was no surprise to him that this event was a complete failure from the beginning. Hell, the bad luck to be involved in any sort of match with May Moonstar was doomed to end in a confrontation regardless. Once again, he overheard, the girl Ami demanding that if the other boy wanted his wand back that he would have to apologize. Well, that seemed like an empty thread because he also received the same and he hadn't bothered.

A few of the students fell in the water again, Callie, seemed like a pro at this game and he couldn't help but to interrupt his light singing and humming with a smirk to be played across his features. From the corner of his eye, he did notice that Henry had made a movement towards Ami and possibly had gotten his wand back from her. Still, though, he hung back, observing the boy and his actions for reasons that only he felt clear in knowing. It was as if those golden hues of his were there for recruitment, almost, and not just a game.

Turning his head back to watch Henry, he noted that the boy seemed really upset and considered walking over to calm him down. Instead, the boy seemed to stomp off and head out of the games area. This seemed, strange to him, as the boy could have just come over to him if he needed a 'friendlier' face around him. Puzzled by the action, he remembered that Slytherins often started plotting in their head when they got angry or upset. Zykeal stayed observant, as always, watching the contestants of the game and the actions that they took for the time being. The only other change in his actions as he watched Henry walk-off was to set his wands hilt within the palm of his hand, stopping the spinning and keeping it ready.

Although Zykeal had the flickering thought of kicking Callie into the ice-cold water to spice up the competition in the game, he had no intention in proceeding with that train of thought. No ill-will also was within the Gryffindor's heart towards the girl; this is why his next action took place. It was a flicker of a projectile that crossed his vision that caused a reactionary flick of his wand; a twin-peak mountain being quickly sketched into the air as the projectile flew towards the girl Callie.

"Immobulus," he said, very quietly, almost to keep the spell to himself. Zykeal had learned the spell in his first year, a proficient prodigal charms learner and it had helped him even freezing a mosp while at the ball in the first year. Zykeal knew exactly who had thrown the object, he just hoped his accuracy was good enough to stop the foolish action of the Slytherin boy. This wasn't how you handled things, it wasn't right, and it could truly hurt someone who didn't necessarily deserve it.
