It was a cold, brisk night. The crescent moon hung lazily in the sky, and the light that drifted off of it reflected onto Paisley's weary face. Her true expression had been uncovered, and only her emotions shined through at that moment. Her face was fallen into a deep and thoughtful frown. Her nose was upturned towards the clear night's sky, and she was thinking about nothing and everything at the same time. It was wonderful to stand there for a moment, feeling so small in a world so big.

It was like a picture. Not a wizard's picture, a muggle picture. This scene she was creating captured one moment; one feeling. One simple expression on her face that seemed to last eternity. It was a noir delineation of outward peace but inward turmoil. Her conflict right now was internal, a battle with herself and her mind alone. No one could join her in this battle, it was one she had to face by herself.

Paisley was up here because it was dark, and tucked away in the upmost corner of the school. Not many teachers came up here, at least, that's what she thought, so she assumed it would be the safest place to be while breaking curfew. She had needed some air, and needed to feel the night soak her up once again.

Speaking of breaking curfew, Paisley had no idea of what time it was. Her gaze flicked down to her watch and then back up, as if not looking at the time would make it not exist. "Elven, wow." she muttered, but still didn't move. There was no reason to. She'd much rather stand here, stock-still, than make a scene by moving.

The seconds ticked by, and a cold wind swept across the owlery, causing her to shiver. It was like she was encased in a snow globe, condemned to standing still forever, while beautiful things happen around you. At last she broke free of her reverie, and turned to look down the winding stairs below. She stood at the top, blocking the entrance to the owelry.

The young Gryffindor didn't expect to find anyone else up here, but then again, she didn't expect to find herself up here either. Perhaps the night would be full of surprises, or perhaps it wouldn't. Either way, Paisley would stay up in the owlery. It was good every once in awhile to break the curfew, wasn't it?

Starlee rushed through the halls of the castle trying to hold back her tears. She needed a place to get away that was as far away as possible from the Slytherin Common room. What location sounded better than the Owlery? The common room was underground and the owlery was high in the sky. Total Opposites. Plus, surely there would be no one up there to hear her wails. It would just be her and the owls. Granted, the owls could and would certainly be irritated by her sobbing, but that was not something that Starlee considered in the slightest.

She continued making her way through the large front doors of the castle and out onto the grounds. She was beginning to lose her stamina quickly from all the running and she almost tripped over a large rock. Luckily, she was able to catch her balance back just in time, saving her the possibility of adding insult to injury. However, the trip still caused a little squeak of anger to come from her, as well as even more tears to flow down her cheeks. 'Can't I do anything right?' Her bubbling self-loathing was coming to fruition as she continued to make her way to the owlery.

She finally reached the bottom of the spiraling stairs to the owlery and marched her way up them with her eyes half-closed, as she attempted to fend away more tears. She spiraled up and up, holding onto the railing for guidance. It felt like forever, but she finally reached the top landing and she turned to face the entry, dashing forward. In her rush, she failed to notice the girl standing in the center of the archway and, subsequently, Starlee collided headfirst into them. This collision caused Starlee to fall back onto the landing, igniting pain in her bum. Normally, Starlee would feel bad for possibly hurting someone else, but she was too angry to care.

Her face turned bright red and she turned to look at the other girl, her eyes still glistening with the tears from her earlier inner turmoil. "Wha- What are you doing here?" She managed to choke out, trying her best to hold her feelings in. This was a new face to her, so Starlee felt as if she had to be confident here. So she stood up, brushed off her robes, put her hands on her hips, and said "And, now that I think of it, why in the world are you just standing in the doorway? People need to get through ya know!" She made no effort to help the other girl up in her anger.

Was there a specific reason Lana had been roaming the corridors at such a late hour? No, not particularly. Could she be caught by someone like a prefect? It was possible, though then again she had her ways of sneaking around the castle. She knew the perfect hiding spots, places blind to the eye if not paying too close of attention.

Sleep was a word that didn't exist to the deranged Ravenclaw, resulting in her face always looking as if she could drop dead any second.
She moved swiftly in the halls, her eyes peering for any sight of Professors. She knew the punishment for breaking curfew, and despite her being unafraid of such consequence, she wasn't particularly in the mood to go on and explain herself.

She clutched her black robe around her, turning the corner in the direction of the Owlery. It wasn't far from her Common Room, therefore it would be easy to get back if things went south.

Lana swore she could see someone in the door from down the hall, though she wasn't quite sure. Often her eyes played tricks on her, causing her to consciously second guess every decision she made.
Upon growing nearer, she found that she had indeed been right, her eyes glued onto a girl with what seemed to be dark blonde hair. Lana approached her slowly, clearing her throat to make her presence known.

The candles that produced light seemed to flicker as she stepped closer, the air suddenly chilled. It was as if the room was now tense upon her arrival.

"You. Why are you up."

Her question was plain-spoken; no real emotion behind the inquiry. She didn't bother in asking if she'd been crying, for one of two reasons. For one, she simply didn't care. She refused to sympathize with others, as it was probably something they deserved. As for the second reason, it was blatantly obvious, therefore there was no reason in pushing the envelope any further.

Lana's eyes then flicked to the girl on the ground, visibly shaken up. She didn't bother helping her, because why should she? Lana instead looked away, her eyes tracing the brick patterns for a moment.

"As for you." She paused, glancing at her robes to decipher which house she'd been in.

"Gryffindor. Get up, will you?"
