Looking Good, Feline Good

Interacting with @Melissa Carson and her cat, Kato. Mentioning Alina's portrait cat's Artemindora and Orion.
Alina had been there in the corridors for some time trying to do the inevitable. Getting a stubborn cat to listen was nearly impossible, especially if anyone knew THIS stubborn cat. Orion was a young kitten who thought he could do whatever he wanted and not listen to her or his mother. Alllllll his other brothers and sisters minded and did as told but he was a free spirit, ready to roam the vast and plentiful corridors of Hogwarts.
"Rion, please, for once in your existence won't you please TRY and listen?!" she pleaded with the small animal.
There was a defiant mew.
"Don't go roaming around. You'll get lost and your mum won't know where to find you. You need to be a good kitten and mind her."
Another defiant mew.
She sighed in frustration. This kitten was something else. "I'll ...I'll find a way to stop you if I must. I will. I mean it. You've got everything you could possibly need and want right here. She'll take you exploring someday, she will, but you just need to be patient."
Mew.
"I tried, Dora. I really tried. You're going to have to keep a close watch on him." She sighed, defeated now.
To any outsider walking down the corridors, it sounded as if Alina was talking to a kitten and in a sense she was. However, Orion and Artemindora weren't one's average cats. Instead, these adorable little felines were hanging on the wall, existing within the portrait. Alina referred to them as her 'portrait cats' since she came to visit them often and spend time with them. Artemindorus caught her attention during her first year and later, once having kittens and proving she was a girl, Alina changed the mother cat's name to Artemindora. She named the kittens after various constellations, the most ornry one being Orion, or Rion for short.

Running in the halls. Not something Melissa would usually do but she had to at the moment. She was just about to do the pet pampering errand when her cat, Kato, took her bag full of the supplies and ran off. "Really Kato?" she called out as she ran. "I don't have time to chase you!" The little furball suddenly ran around a corner just as Mel stoped down to catch her breath when she heard a crash. She panicked and ran as fast as she could. When she got closer, she saw a huge pile of dust. Oh my god what if Kato got hurt? the ginger thought. She didn't know what she would do without the little cat.
She scurried over to the pile of dust, hoping that her cat wasn't injured. Then, she spotted something moving. The dust...was moving? Is this like magical dust or something? she wondered. The girl looked closer and leapt back when a little head bobbed out of the dust. In its mouth was a bag. Melissa instantly recognized the head as her cat. "Kato! You gave me a heart attack you furball-" she exclaimed. The kitten drooped it's head and mewed softly. Almost like she was saying sorry. She's just so cute... How can I ever be mad at her? How could anyone be mad at the little cutie pie? she thought. "Aww," she said while stroking the cat, "Anyways, now you really need to be cleaned!"
The ginger carried her cat to the nearest classroom, where she decided she would pamper her pet. She quickly set down her cat and took out all of the supplies. "Okay Kato, stay still alright?" she told her furball. It didn't work. The kitten just squirmed around even more! I wonder if I can bribe her- Melissa wondered. She wasn't quite sure if it would actually work or not but it was still worth a try. "Kato, if you stop wiggling around, I'll give you a treat alright?" she asked, wondering if it worked as the kitten's ears straightened up. Then, she instantly stopped and sat up, waiting for her treat. "Really? Well, I guess you can have a treat then-". Mel reached for the bag and took out a little cat cookie. She giggled a little as Kato licked it off her hand. Then, she prepared the bath. She knew how much her kitten hated baths so she thought, If only if someone would help me with this... Not that anyone will...I think-@Alina Rosier

“Really Kato? I don’t have time to chase you!” Alina heard a girl’s voice said through the corridor. Then there was a crash and she crept down the hall to see the girl scoop up a cat that was covered in dust that a school elf was sweeping. The elf just began sweeping up the floors all over again, not even angered by it and the girl walked into a classroom with the cat, not seeming angered either due to the cat’s innocent act. Alina smiled and slowly followed the two inside the room.
There were others inside, all with pets nearby, grooming them. “I bet it’s nice to have an actual cat,” she said to the girl she didn’t know. “I’ve always wanted one. Right now I just have portrait cats.”
But the students in that room all had their own furry, scaled, or feathered creature. She was a little jealous of them all but knew if she saved up her money enough, she too could make the purchase of an animal companion.
“Are they hard to clean?” She asked the girl who just entered with her cat. “Does Kato like to get baths? Are they difficult to take care of? I’m thinking about getting my own furry critter someday.”

Melissa snapped out of her thoughts when a girl started talking to her. "Oh! Um...well cats are sometimes little mischief-makers but other than that, they're adorable," she told the girl. Then, after she let the other girl finish talking, she added, "W-well portrait cats are um kind of good because they don't make a mess." It felt really awkward for Mel to talk to the girl because she was basically a stranger to her. It was just so...random. "Um, sometimes they are. It just depends on whether they like it or not," she informed the girl. Then, the stranger asked if Kato liked baths. Wait how does she know Kato's name? I never told her! the ginger thought. Honestly, the girl just seemed to go on and on with questions so Melissa just decided to wait for her to finish and then tell her the answers.
When the girl finished, the Ravenclaw said, "S-so uh Kato doesn't really like baths just like other cats but she's usually cool about them. No, they aren't hard to take care of because they know how to take care of themselves perfectly fine. Kato really likes attention though but it might just be her." When she finished, the little gray furball beside her started squirming around again. She really wants another treat, doesn't she? she thought. She took another treat and the ball of fur suddenly stopped, ready for another treat. It took the tread and stayed still again. I wonder how long this will last...
"Hey uh, could you help me with cleaning Kato?" Melissa asked. She really didn't want to but she had to. No way she was going to be able to do it all by herself. "You don't have to, of course, but I would really appreciate if you did-" she quickly added, not wanting to make the girl feel like she had to do it. Waiting for her reply, the ginger started to fill the water bin with some warm water. She then proceeded to soak and towel with the water. If Kato doesn't want to bathe in the water, then I'll just wipe her down, she thought.@Alina Rosier

"I overheard you having some difficulty with her...him," she paused, not sure which gender the cat was, "out in the corridors when I was talking with my portrait kitten. He's a handful in himself and I have to worry about him running off but thankfully I don't have to worry about keeping him clean." He was a portrait, after all.
Alina smiled at the cat and looked back up to the owner and smiled. "Looks like my intrusion wasn't so awful after all, I'd love to help! I'm Alina, by the way, Alina Rosier." This girl was probably going to think she was the most psycho person in all of Hogwarts with her talking to portraits but in all honesty, Alina couldn't understand why most of the students and staff DIDN'T talk to them. Sure, they weren't an actual person by an account, but they had thoughts and feelings, concerns and worries (well, some of them) and personalities. She enjoyed making friends with them and hoped in the years to follow after her graduation there would be other students who would come along and keep them company.
"Your cat is perfect, by the way." She told her. "My favorite kinds are ones just like this and black cats." And that wasn't to say that other cats weren't wonderful, but those were just her two personal favorites.

As Melissa listened to the girl, who just introduced herself as Alina, she realized that she didn't tell her her own name. "Nice to meet you, Alina! My name's Melissa, Mel for short, by the way," she said. Then, she added, "O-oh thanks!" What else could you say when they say your cat was perfect? Then, she picked up Kato and gently put her back down in the tub. Surprisingly, the little kitten didn't mind. Oh wow I never knew Kato didn't mind water! she thought. Mel would always think that her little furball didn't like water like all the other cats so she avoided bathing it. They keep themselves clean anyways so it would really matter.
When the ginger started cleaning the kitten's fur with the soaked towel, Kato finally minded. A hiss that almost seemed too loud to be coming from the small grey furball erupted. Oh no Kato please don't scratch me! she thought as she continued to clean the cat. Suddenly, she remembered that Alina was still standing beside her. "Hey um could you grab a few cat treats from that bag over there?" she quickly asked, motioning towards the little bag. Melissa didn't want the other girl to think that she was just ignoring her and didn't want her here. Waiting for the girl to get the treats, she turned her attention back to Kato.@Alina Rosier

"Oh no," she said with a soft gasp because the cat had suddenly become irritated. "Either she doesn't like being out of the warm bath water or she doesnt like being rubbed down," Alina gave a soft laugh as the girl began to comfort her animal.
"I feel the same way back home sometimes after swimming in the pools. Sometimes I just dont' want to get out," especially the mermaid pool which was heated to the perfect water temperature, as well as the air within the room.
She did as instructed, stopping her conversation for a moment to get cat treats. She almost grabbed the wrong bag but checked the wording on the front of the package. "Here you go, Mel," she smiled, handing the bag over to the girl. "Food is usually a good distraction, isn't it? And suddenly she had the urge for a lemon drop but didn't go rustle through her bag just yet. She wanted to stay there and be present just in case the girl needed her again for treat duty or whatever else might present itself.
Alina looked around to some of the others grooming their pets in the area and she spotted a table with brushes. "Ooh, will Kato let you brush her?" she asked before waiting the answer and skipped over to have a look at the ones available. One was placed back and full of pet hair. No thanks. Others were ready for use. She picked up one that was soft, but not so soft it wouldn't work through the cat's hair, but also not rough at all so not to disturb and irritate her. "Maybe something like this would work?" she brought it over and placed it down on the table.
