The library was relatively quiet, a pleasing peace nestled as the morning sun began it's travel up into the sky, spreading colors of warm orange and a pastel yellow through the pane windows. Morning dew painted itself over the green fields of Hogwarts, giving the air a warm but misty feeling. Not many students were in the library that morning, around nine of them in all, each one minding their own business as some finished homework or read to pass the early time. The sunlight provided a more magical scene, finishing off the library's lovely architect with a sunkissed glow.
Aubren was one of the readers in the library that morning. A pile of leather-backed books scattered around her as she sat at the oak wood table, contently studying to increase her knowledge on Herbology to a full capacity. A book of plants opened in front of her, each page providing an ink description with a diagram of each process. It was easy to say that if anyone had to look for Aubren, one of the many places they'd look to is the library.
As Aubren sat and read a page talking about Dried Nettles, she heard whispers from behind her. Her head tilted up slowly, hearing the voices whisper hastily, each one shushing another. Slowly, Aubren closed the book and turned in her seat to look behind her, her eyes settling on the large wall like bookshelf. She sat, silently, listening again for the voices she had heard before.
After sitting in a silence, Aubren began to believe she was just hearing things until the voices spoke again, this time more clearly.
"Of course it'll work! It says it right on the bottle!"
"We'll pour it onto their broomsticks, it'll send the entire team flying like mad!"
At those words, a spark of curiosity ignited inside of her. Cautiously again, Aubren slowly stood from her chair and made two soundless steps towards the bookshelf, leaning against it to listen to the unknown group of speakers on the otherside. To her horror, she listened as they discussed their plans for the Gryffindor quidditch team, after what appeared to be the team "being humiliated infront of the school"
"Just pour it onto their broomsticks and watch them spiral downwards as they fly, Gryffindor will learn a lesson for thinking they can outplay us in a practice!"
At the words, Aubren found herself letting out a gasp. She regretted it instantly as the voices suddenly went silent, making her heart thump loudly like a drum in a cave as she tightly covered her mouth with her hand. She stood still, her blood running cold, waiting for the people on the other side to appear and give her what for. In her panics, she began to hear creaking footsteps from the other side, indicating that they began to move.
In fear, Aubren grabbed her study book and sped off in a fast paced walk away from where she once was, not daring to look behind her to see if the people followed. With the newly discovered information carved into her mind, she feared for her Gryffindor team, and feared for her own well being for getting caught on peeping the conversation. Admist her panic, Aubren hadn't been paying much attention to her surroundings, which caused her to turn a corner, get her foot caught against the corner of a table, and fall forward. She fell onto her side, a small rack containing rolled up parchment coming down with her with a crash. The sudden loud noises startled the other students, drawing their attention to her, each one equally confused of what to do and equally frightened.

Peeping and Reading
Eris found the library to be a place of peace, and calmness in the busy thing that was the young Gryffindor prefect's life. With Quidditch approaching, Eris had began to panic. She was going to be flying in front of the whole school on April Second. There was no room for mistakes. The whole team was counting on the red-haired girl, and she was counting on them. Eris knew how to fly, but she wanted extra tips. She needed to know everything, so therefore on her breaks, the library was no longer a place of peace. It was now a place of heavy reading, angrily turning the pages of books, and nervousness threatening to make Eris scream out loud. Which she wouldn't do of course. She didn't need to start another argument with the librarian.
The pile of books stacked on the desk Eris was inhabiting was nearly taller than the girl, and each one was read already. She had poured over the pages of each book multiple times, and still wasn't feeling overly confident in her skills. Groaning almost inaudibly, Eris set down the book she had been pouring over for the fourth time; Quidditch Through the Ages. Already, she felt herself losing interest. Maybe she would just have stop wasting time studying flying, and actually practice or read books that were of interest to her.
Stretching out her arms, Eris pulled herself upright in her seat, intently watching the other students around her. There was nothing of interest, so Eris was about to turn back to her stack of books and put them away. Her intentions to clear away the books vanished as she heard a smattering of impatient footsteps disrupting the vicious quiet of the library. The footsteps got faster, as if the person who was walking, was in a hurry to get somewhere or away from something. Whoever the footsteps belong too, they were about to round the corner. Eris craned her neck upwards, wondering who on earth could be in such a hurry in the library. A Gryffindor girl rounded the corner, and to Eris's dismay promptly fell into a rack of parchments. Eris let out a shocked gasp, staring at the carnage then at the girl on the floor.
Carefully, she stood and walked over to the girl. It was the prefect-y thing to do after all. She offered the girl a hand up and said sternly, "Why were you running in the library?" It was the girl's fault she had fallen. It wasn't exactly smart to be running in a place full of books and shelves.

The voice that appeared over Aubren made her look up, wanting to see who it belonged to. When her eyes settled on the girl before her, she instantly recognized the girl to be Eris Elcan, a prefect specifically for Gryffindor. A tinge of fear sprung in her chest, making her speechless for a few seconds. The thought of getting in trouble by a prefect was the last thing she needed at the moment.
She didn't answer her question straight away, and instead took hold of her helping hand and stood up slowly, glancing at the cluttered mess around her. Before she could apologize over and over, Aubren quickly remembered what she had overheard, and a rush of worry hit her again, much larger than the small fear of getting into trouble. Frantically, she spoke quickly and quietly to the prefect.
"I overheard students talking about sabotaging the Gryffindor qudditch team before the first game, they were going to do something to their broomsticks. I don't know who they are exactly...but I believe they heard me listening."
Aubren ran her right hand through her hair to fix it before speaking again.
"They came after me, and I panicked... Her eyes fell to the floor, looking at the mess once again before kneeling down to pick up the fallen rack, standing it up again before she collected the parchment, mumbling an apology. The student's seemed to have drawn their attention away from the incident, focusing on their own tasks. Aubren didn't know that the prefect was on the Quidditch team, yet it felt better to let out the horrible discovery she overheard, to a prefect no less.

Eris smiled at the Gryffindor girl when she took her hand. When the girl was up on her feet, she carefully listened. Someone was going to prank the Gryffindor team, and sabotage their first match? The smile faded off of the girl's face, replaced by an angry look. She wasn't mad at the girl, of course, but she was deeply enraged at the idea of some idiot kids trying to ruin the first game of Quidditch of the year. Eris and the rest of the team had practiced so hard, and earned their spots on the team. Now somebody was going to take away their victory?
"Did you see any faces?"Eris said, voice hushed, as she studied everybody in the library with an enraged expression. Anybody could be someone attempting to hex the team. "We need to warn the rest of the team and Professor Cazarez." The prefect girl's chest swelled, as she pushed herself up to full height. With another person the affect might of been intimidating, but with the short-girl, pushing herself up did nothing to the Gryffindor prefect. It didn't make her look stronger, or more dangerous.
Eris frowned at any faces that were still looking over at the two Gryffindor girls, then turned back to the girl. "What's your name." She said, managing to make her tone sound less angry.

Aubren had just finished tidying up her mess when the prefect asked her another question. She drew her eyes away from the rack she just finished picking up to look at her, instantly noticing her angered expression. Aubren wasn't brain dead, she knew this was a problem, and telling a prefect about it was the best decision. Even if she did worry that the punk kids would find out she spilled their plans and would come after her.
"No faces. They did say the team humiliated them on a practice, however. Did Gryffindor play a practice match at all this week?"
Aubren said, the strong British accent making her words gentle and soft, even with her whispering. She watched as the prefect, a bit shorter than she was, stand herself up and puff out her chest, something that Aubren found secretly amusing.
Aubren felt a bit of excitement swell inside her, she wanted to help in any way she could. Besides, she was, in fact, the only one who had heard. She certainly didn't mind going off with the prefect to warn the team and Professor Cazarez. When the short Gryffindor asked her for her name, Aubren didn't hesitate.
"Aubren, Aubren Anson. First year." She said, nodding as though to confirm it.

Peeping and Reading
Anatole walked into the Library with a wide grin. This is one of the rooms he hadn't cared to visit before, and now one of his favorites. He used to love books, reading tales about winged horses and magical places (such as Hogwarts). They always fascinated him more than nonfiction, which seemed to retell tales of old. Sadly, he expected that they would make him read more of the nonfiction sort in his studies.
Well, the reason Anatole was exuberant was because he had found one club that just might be suitable for him: the Book Club. It hadn't officially formed yet, but he expressed a heavy, high interest and helped them decide their first book, a Muggle Title he considered re-reading. Part of him was curious if they even had it here. If so, they might have to change it to nonfiction, or maybe he would write a letter back to his parents to send his old childhood copy to the school.
Quietly but jubilantly, the Gryffindor boy wove through the shelves, curious as if they had fiction. Hearing the close, small hint of voices furiously whispering, he turned his head, his girlish hand on the binding of a book. It was a pair of Gryffindor girls, one he recognized as a prefect. Maybe the prefect might know where he could pick up the title.
Swiftly and silently, he approached the table.

Aubren wasn't paying much attention to their surroundings. She was too busy thinking back to what she had overheard. She was positive that she saw no faces, in fact, she didn't even bother to turn around and look to see who was chasing her. At this point, she wished she did. She pondered more on what the voices sounded like, and by what she heard, she confirmed that the voices had to be boys.
As to where they went? She had no idea, they could have, perhaps, slipped away when the prefect showed herself, or...they were still in the library. It was highly doubtful they would remain there, but it was plausible that they could be.
When she heard footsteps approached, she looked away from the angered prefect and at the person approaching them. She saw that it was a boy, a Gryffindor by the looks of him. Aubren's lips tipped into a frown, her cognac eyes looking at the boy with her guard raised. After all, this could have been one of them that gave chase.
"May we help you? Aubren asked, starting the conversation to somewhat alert the prefect of the new arrival. It was doubtful it would be one of the kids planning to sabotoge, Aubren didn't recognize him to be on a Quidditch team.

Anatole zoned out for just a second as he stood there, hearing the last seconds of their conversation. Like a game of Wax Museum, Anatole suddenly came back to life. "Oh, me?" He looked at the prefect, then back to the other girl. "I was wondering where the fiction section is. It's very much a Muggle book I'm looking for, if that helps you?" Anatole tried not to admit that he heard the tail end of their conversation by utter accident. It did seem like he had equal right to access it, however. He was a Gryffindor, and he was aware of what Quidditch was due to Rosie always discussing it. In fact, he planned to attend the next Gryffindor match. It would be his first, and he was sure it wouldn't be all too gruesome if it was mostly first years.
The two of them looked nice and pleasant, surprisingly. He decided that he would be honest with them, just saying that he heard them. Why not?
Anatole pulled up a chair, leaning in toward them and lowering his voice to a whisper. "Also, what were you discussing? I just got a little curious, if you don't mind." He sat down, clasping his hands patiently.

Aubren blinked a few times. All the boy wanted was to find a book. A surge of relief seemed to escape her as she let her guard down, besides, closer up, she did recognize him a little from seeing him around. She highly doubted he was behind the scheme, his voice didn't match the one's she had heard.
She wore her uniform without her clock that morning, the sun now higher in the sky made the library warmer by a good couple of degrees.
She decided to tell him, settling on the matter that having a mind set of three would be better, she even thought he could help in some way. Aubren leaned forward, her arms crossed over each other on the table. As she leaned, her layered brown hair shifted from her shoulders, the tips touching the top of the table ever so slightly.
"I overheard a small group of students discussing plans to sabotage the upcoming Quidditch game. They're going to hex the player's brooms and cause them to spiral downwards." Aubren set her voice into an equally shared whisper, her beautiful shaded colored eyes gleamed with fright. It was a scary thought to imagine what sort of injuries the team players would get from a deadly spiral.
"We were about to warn the team. Then again, I don't even know who these people were. They talked about getting revenge for the Gryffindor team humiliating them in a practice game. What I do know, however, is that they're using a hexing potion, one I can imagine coming from Potions."
Aubren explained, giving their surroundings quick uneasy glances. She seemed to realize an obvious fact even the Gryffindor boy could realize, the fact being the students that saw her snooping know what she looked like. The realization seemed to allow the fright in her eyes grow.
Aubren turned to the boy across from her, talking yet again in the whispery tone.
"It may be a bit much of me to ask, but would you mind helping us? It may be for the best, after all."

Sorry for the late reply! I had a lot to get to the past few days.
Anatole watched the two exchange a glance. They must have been laughing a little bit to themselves. Surely, two girls (who looked like good friends, well, Anatole thought everyone sitting together and chatting happily were good friends) wouldn’t dare let him into their conversation, right? It seemed private, and could have been about girl stuff for all he knew.
Wait, Aubren was actually letting him lean in? This was a first.
Her hair draped off the sides of her head like a curtain, refusing to hide the light of her face. Her voice lowered to a whisper. Well, Anatole knew this was serious.Did he get himself into something he didn’t need to be in?
The girl’s eyes widened as if she was telling a ghost story, yet she was oddly scared too. “Th...that’s insane!” Anatole commented, his voice quivering a little. It’s true, it was insane. Even though Anatole’s knowledge of Quidditch came solely from what Rosie told him, he knew it could be fatal if they just happened to fall the wrong way. Especially first years, like him.
"No, no. It's nothing." He heaved a sigh, looking at her with a smirk. "I'll help."
