Alina liked the Hospital Wing. There was something comforting about a place that's sole purpose was to make someone feel better, to mend their ailments, whatever it may be. he area was big, the beds comfortable, everything immaculately clean. Often music could be heard, either from the Head Nurse playing or having enchanted to play on its own. Other times, the group of elves that assisted Head Nurse Dupont sung in unison and they did so beautifully.
Another reason that she liked it so much was that she hoped to study to become a healer upon leaving Hogwarts. Alina was someone that always wanted those around them to feel happy, to feel empowered, to feel wanted, and to feel loved. Healing seemed to just naturally fall into that.
Still, as she laid there on one of the beds she really wasn't thinking how much she liked the place. Instead she was a little dizzy. She had come in for some assistance after yet another fall from a tree. At first she thought she was okay, but the bruise on her head kept bleeding and bleeding until she had become lightheaded.
Still, she was in good hands with the staff elves. Her favorite of them all were Jolly, the happy one, and Rookey, the youngest one. Alina closed her yes, trying to focus on the soft soothing guitar music that was playing in the background. As of the moment, she was the only one in the Hospital Wing aside from the elvish staff.

Katie had just stumbled in to the hospital wrong after twisting her able. She'd been on the way out of the Slytherin common room and dorms, when she'd tripped and twisted her left ankle.
She hasn't thought much of it, but it had hurt to walk and it had taken all of her effort not to wince in pain as she slowly made her way up to the hospital wing. She personally thought it felt more like she'd dislocated it, but Katie wasn't sure, as she wasn't a healer.
As she made her way into the hospital wing, she noticed another girl was already in there. Mind if I sit here? she asked the girl, taking a cot next get her. They're was nobody else in the hospital wrong except for the two of them and the house elves, but it made no real sense to sit as far away from each other as possible. Seemed like it works get real awkward real fast if they did that. I think I dislocated my left ankle. Katie said with a grimace. At first I thought it was just twisted, but it hurts to much to just be that, and I had to lean on the hallway walls on, putting pressure only on my right able all the way here. she added, to clarify.
Oh. I forgot to mention my name. I'm Katie. Katie Palsorette. A Slytherin first year. Katie added, unable to hide the pain from her ankle behind her words.

Alina shook her head, indicating that she didn't mind if the girl came and took the cot beside her, answering her question. The girl then went on to describe what brought her in there and she felt awful for the girl, not liking that she had to help support herself against the corridor walls just to get there. At least she was there now and could get fixed up.
Then she smiled a little at how the girl introduced herself because it was the very same way that she would introduce herself to everyone. First name first, followed by the first and last name. She wondered if this girl always did the same. "Alina," she told her. "Alina Rosier. Second Year, Hufflepuff," she said and felt bad for the girl for being in so much pain.
She leaned on the small beside table where her bag rested and she pulled out a small cellophane bag full of lemon drops. "Would you like one? It's my life's philosophy that lemon drops make just about everything better." They were her favorite and she was never ever without them.
Then to make sure the girl knew she wasn't intruding with the conversation, she decided she would share why she was there. "I fell out of a tree. Again," she said and glanced over to the one of the elves who gave her a quick glare. She had been in there a few too many times for that and they had pleaded with her to stop climbing trees. "It really wasn't that horrible of a fall but I did hit a few limbs and branches on the way down and I've got Von Willebrand Disease. It's a bleeding disorder where my blood doesn't want to clot so I bleed and bleed and bleed..."
For the moment though there was a bandage on her and the elves were checking on it regularly to change it out when needed.

I'd love a lemon drop! Katie replied, smile brightening. Usually she want big on candy, but lemon drops were a weakness of hers. Though she viewed it more as a strength than a weakness.
That sucks! Katie added, as she listened to Alina describe her illness. Is it hard top live with? she asked, hoping that didn't sound too insensitive. She didn't mean to sound insensitive at all of course, but She could understand how it might unintentionally come across as exactly that.
Katie shivered as she felt the temperature drop a few degrees. Katie preferred warmer environments in the fall, and cooler weather in the spring, though she wasn't exactly sure why. Probably had something to do with preferring less change and more consistency in life.
Sooo... Katie continued, This is my first time in the hospital wing. Is it always this empty? she asked. Somehow Katie had expected the hospital wrong top be bustling with life as people came and went all the time for their various ailments. In fact, She hasn't seen a single house elf here, even though she knew they always worked in the hospital wing, so their was bound to be at least one or two on dirty at any given moment - even now.

"It's not too hard to live with. Well, maybe it should be. I'm not supposed to run, or climb trees, and it was recommended I not do things like quidditch or broom racing or football or dueling. I'm not supposed to do games of tag or race others or skip or jump..." she paused. "Well, you get the point. I'm not SUPPOSED to do much of anything but one can't treat themselves as a delicate flower or porcelain doll and still fully appreciate life, now can they?"
And that's where she got herself into trouble.
The girl asked if the room was always so empty and she glanced around, seeing one of the elves in the distance filling out some paperwork and she smiled. She looked around more to see the enchanted guitar playing softly in the corner. It was soothing music and a great addition to the space. If she ever had the ability when she was a healer, she'd have something similar to calm her patients. Maybe a violin, like her sister played. Maybe a piano like she played.
"I haven't been here TOO many times, but the times I've been here its always just been one or two others. USUALLY they like to get students in and out quickly but my guess is they're backed up with paperwork or something right now," and she pointed to the elf they could see in the other room, the sort of office area. "I like it here though. I plan to volunteer if they ever open that up. I think I might want to study to be a healer after Hogwarts. Have you thought about what you might want to do?"
In the beginning of her first year she had no idea but she came across soooooooo many first years with either great talents or already figured out life ambitions. Maybe Katie was the same as those ones.

I'm not quite sure what I want to do when I get older. Katie said, truthfully. Of course, Katie had classes that she liked and preferred, but that didn't equal a career. my favorite classes so far would have to be Herbology, History of Magic, and Potions, though I enjoy Charms also. I might want to become a healer as I enjoy healing types of magic, but I really am not entirely sure. Katie added.
It wasn't as though Katie hadn't thought about her future. She had. A lot. Her perfect pure-blood parents wanted her to be on the Wizengamot using the family seats, and/or be the next minister of magic. Personally, She had no interest in being the minister of magic, and one her parents inevitably found out that Katie disagreed with their pure-blood supremacist views, they'd be noticed and not let her anywhere near the Palsorette seats if they could help it.
Katie smiled over at Alina. Huh. It makes sense that they'd want the kids to cone in and out quickly so as not to cause a backlog of students waiting to be treated. she added, upon hearing that the hospital wing was usually pretty empty.

"So how's things going so far here? You know, besides the ankle," she said and hoped that the girl was feeling better now that it was up and she wasn't moving it around or walking on it.
"I know a lot of students seem to get a bit homesick at first. Where's home? What's your family like?" Alina felt she could learn a lot about a person from those questions but then again, that wasn't always the case. If someone asked her to talk about her family come last year this time she would have had quite a different story to tell than she did now.
And one's family didn't always dictate the way they were. Her father was a tribute to that, as was she. They were sort of the black sheep in the Rosier family and she didn't mind that.
"It's kind of nice they announced a dance so early on this year. Do you think you'll go? What do you think you'll wear?" From her understanding there was two sort of separate spaces to occupy: a masquerade ball and a costume party sort of thing. One could go fancy and dress up and dance and all that jazz, or one could decorate pumpkins and wear a costume and do traditional Halloween traditions.
It was then that Alina realized she was asking a lot of questions and smiled to the girl, hoping she wasn't coming off as annoying.

Things are going well, she replied. Katie didn't mind Alina asking a lot of questions. But I'm not homesick at all. she added. Homesickness is for people with a home, and a home is a happy place you both live in and feel safe in. Katie answered truthfully, with a hint of pain in her voice. But let's not talk about my parents. Katie said.Interacting with @Alina Rosier
As she was listening to Alina ask her about the dance, Katie had to suppress a snort. Dance? If I show up to the dance, somebody better call the aurors, because I'll have been imperioused. Katie said sarcastically. I am not find out dancing, as I'm a huge introvert, and I have mixed feelings on traditional celebrations. I've never been big on Halloween as my family celebrated Samhain instead, but I do not wish to celebrate that either, because I don't wish to be reminded of my parents. Katie replied honestly, hoping that Alina would not judge her over her lack of enthusiasm to celebrate. She knew a lot of people were looking forward to it. Will you go to the dance? Katie asked, turning the conversation back onto Alina.

"Yeah, I'm going," she said simply at first. And truly she was excited for the dance but it just wasn't the way it was supposed to be - and she had to do her best to get over that.
"I'm going with Logan Zarcovich," she said of a Gryffindor who was in first year like Katie but she didn't know if Katie would know him. "He asked me when we were still friends and we've since uh...become a couple." Talking relationships wasn't the easiest thing for Alina since she had her heartbroken the year before. Well, actually that Summer before the school year began actually so it was still fresh.
"Already got my dress. It's a bit over the top and I hope Logan doesn't mind," she laughed softly. "He calls me his princess and says he's the stable boy so I went all out with this really fancy white ballgown dress. It'll be so different from last year's. Last year there was to be a Blossom Ball but the professors cancelled it so a lot of students got together to have a Secret Blossom Ball. My date asked me rather late and we didn't have the fancy attire everyone else had so not to feel singled out we decided to have our own Secret Secret Blossom Ball in the Hufflepuff Common Room."
She smiled thinking back to the moment with her and Clifton Troublefield. That was probably one of the best moments she had there at Hogwarts. All her moments with him were wonderful. The two of them had built a bond that was so strong but now that was gone. She blinked, that setting in, and slowly started to feel sad again. She reached over to take another lemon drop from the sidetable next to her.
"I certainly get having family that's a bit TOO much," she decided to change the subject. "Not parents though... when my mother was alive I barely saw her. She stayed in her room and when she didn't she was just there. She didn't interact with us at all. Just...an empty shell of a person. My father he was always off on business or pleasure and when he would come home he'd bring a different woman each time. He had gotten better over the Summer and we really started to connect and he was there and it was wonderful but...its back to normal now, I suppose," she said quietly. He had left weeks before the school year began and Alina hadn't seen nor even heard from him since.
"Anyways, it's my grandmother who was very strict that Bella and I be a certain way, sound a certain way, dress a certain way. She's very set in her old traditional pureblood values and insisted that everyone follow it exactly as she saw it or else." Or else was everything from stern words, public humiliation, no meals for two days, a sharp word, a slap across the face, or worse.

Katie could totally understand the not liking family. My parents are traditional pure-blood too. Katie she sadly, It wasn't until I came to Hogwarts that I saw just how messed up and backwards their beliefs were. she added.Interacting with @Alina Rosier
I imagine I will spend Samhain with Siobhán. She's a first year Hufflepuff and we have grown close. Katie said. To be honest, she said I a low whisper, I think I might like-like her, but I have not said anything yet. I value our friendship too much to risk her not reciprocating the feeling, and I do not want to rush anything as a first year either. she said, in a low whisper. Siobhán was quite attractive though, and had a beautiful personality.
But don't tell her I said that if you meet her. Katie added, Even if I do tell her someday, if want to take things slowly. Katie didn't want to rush headfirst into things quickly, especially as a first year. She did not even know why she was telling Alina this, but she felt like she could trust Alina and Katie could relate to Alina both in interests and having a less than perfect family.
@Siobhán Moore just tagging you, Siobhán, since I mentioned you in this RP, so it's only fair. We are doing a friendship/mentorship thread in the hospital wing, and we were having our characters get to know each other better. I'm tagging you for OOC purposes, but don't feel pressured to do anything.
