Elizabeth had just come out of Transfiguration class and she was feeling rather moody. She wasn't sure she was able to handle even the slightest sound today which made her wonder why she had decided to go to the Study Room of all places.
The cause of her moody state was a mystery, but she had a feeling that it was partly because of that one particularly annoying classmate in Transfiguration that she had sat beside.
Stupid move.
She sat down at a table, throwing her things carelessly on the table, and pulled out her homework. Being as lonely as she was, it become a habit of hers to eavesdrop- a terrible habit -even when she tried not to.
"I think he likes me!" She heard from a group of fifth years.
"No way!" Another one squealed. "What makes you think he likes you?"
Elizabeth stopped listening. Weirdos, she thought rolling her eyes. What's so great about romance, anyway?
She was about to start her homework, when she heard a group of people burst into giggles. One distinct giggle made her groan, and drop her head to the table, so that her forehead was just barely touching it.
She knew all too well that that giggle belonged to Ravenclaw Amy Vandertramp. That brat. Pureblood, know-it-all Amy.
She lifted her head, breathing in deeply, and tried focusing on her Transfiguration questions, though she kept accidentally catching little bits and pieces of Amy's conversation with her friends, which caused her to mess up with her writing more than she could bare.
"I'll bet ANYTHING that Isabelle has a crush on Andrew!" She chirped excitedly. Elizabeth scratched out crush from a sentence.
The voices seemed closer. "And I'll bet anything that Elizabeth Down will fail every course!" Amy dropped her stuff on the table beside Elizabeth, and sat down. Elizabeth rolled her eyes.
"You just Adore bugging Slytherins, hmm?" Elizabeth said with a sarcastic sweetness. "You just live to see their reactions. It's a mystery why you weren't put in Slytherin, yourself."

One would have thought that coming to the Study Room would have guaranteed some level of quiet. Perhaps she'd spoiled herself over the years with the Library where she typically studied. However, today there had seemed to be an influx of people, which was how she found herself here today. Her course work was neatly organized before her as she scratched and scribbled away at her work.

From the corner of her eye, she recognized the slightly familiar form of one of the first years from her house. Though while she didn't know the girl, Illowy had quietly taken it upon herself to try to look out for the younger slytherins. After all, one could never be too careful in Hogwarts, and it was the responsibility of the upperclassmen to look after the younger ones. They were meant to be like a family after all, and family looked out for each other.

Pale eyes watched dicreetly as the ravenclaw girl made her way over to the other snake with an obnoxious thud on the desk, all while clearly trying to bait the other girl. Illowy bit the inside of her cheek, deciding to hang back for a moment and not interfere if the girl was capable of looking after herself. Either way, Illowy was going to leave with a bitter taste in her mouth, the short scene reminding her of the bully she'd endured when she was a first year. Perhaps that was why she had such a soft spot for the younger students.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.
