Eden Gardener, Second Year Hufflepuff
Appearance
[quote]Eden Gardener is a slim, linear boy with rather above-average features as he stands a tad taller than most boys around his age. Like the majority of most Gardeners, the boy carries the silvery hair of his father's. His eyes a deep ocean blue that send those who stare for far too long at them flowing and crushing amongst furious waves during a storm. One of his most distinguishing features is his sharp, clenched jaw.
At Hogwarts, Eden cloaks himself in the formal, necessary uniform. However, when it comes to dressing himself up, he tends to show off his family's wealth through golden embroider robes and vests of the highest quality. He has already displayed his wardrobe in his own dorm room, trying to impress those around him, making it clear that he is superior to them.
Eden ironically finds yellow an oozy colour and doesn't fancy it at all. This has been a rather ongoing annoyance since attending Hogwarts and being sorted into House Hufflepuff. Due to this eye-irritating situation, he is often seen tending to his uniform, trying to hide away the bright colours and blend them in with the black of his robes. Unfortunately, he has to stick to his yellow scarf in Winter but prefers to sneak in a generic black woolly one whenever possible.

Eden Gardener, Second Year Hufflepuff
Personality
Ambitious - Cocky - Compulsive Liar - Curious - Elite - Envious - Formal - Fraud - Intimidative - Over-confident - Hypocrite - Proud - Selfish - Wroth -
Being born into a family with not just wealth but also a famous name has given Eden every handed opportunity to be confident and cocky. Be it in his gestures, ways to speak or even behaviour during class, the boy tends to never fail to mention who he is and won't hesitate to threaten his Professors if they cross his arrogance.
There's no denying that Eden is intellectually capable. Be it from the fact that he was forced to learn about anything and everything since a young age, to the fact that his ambition to strive and be educated at Hogwarts has been his only source of drive. He spends most of his time reading and revising topics that no one would even bother reading about unless told otherwise.
It is no hard task to realize that the boy has his shields raised up every second of the day. He tries so hard to impress everyone with his confidence that it only makes it easier to bypass such defences. Eden is always in his head. He might be cunning and daring, quick to act, but every decision he makes is usually always evaluated. Only to end up regretting them later on. Causing more anxiety and stress.
Recent events have also lowered the boy's self-esteem. Being told that he's perfect and everything his parents ever wanted, only to disappoint them once he had finally reached one of his goals in life, turned his joy and pride into ashes on a windy day. However, he still tries his best to persuade everyone into have them think that Eden is the pride of his family.

Eden Gardener, Second Year Hufflepuff
House Gardener
House Gardener’s roots go back to the 10th century where they first served as royal courtiers to noble lords spread across what is now known as England, keeping their magical identities safe and hidden, but never failed to show how proud they were among their fellow witches and wizards who thrived to make the community stronger than that of mere humans who wore golden crowns simply because their fathers did before. When Hogwarts was constructed and opened up its doors for students, the Gardeners sought to educate the younger members of its family and plant their legacy by contributing in whichever way possible they could to the academy.
Ever since joining Hogwarts, every trueborn son and heir was sorted into House Slytherin and this became a particular detail of the House. Whereas the women of the household are often sorted in Ravenclaw. Henceforth, this House became a sort of feminine emblem in the family, making these two Houses favoured by the family. This record has been broken however as one member has been sorted into House Hufflepuff, bringing shame and dishonour upon the family name.
The sigil of the House is a dark green hand with green thorns twirling around it on a jet black background. Symbolizing the loyalty, solidarity and cunning nature many members of the house have portrayed throughout the centuries.
A Gardener can easily be identified by their unique appearance. Pale white hair, glass-blue or purple eyes, sharp features and a thin physique. These traits were mostly congenially inherited through familiar marriages within the House itself, however, this is a medieval method, and the Gardeners have now revolved to marrying outside their own household. Regardless, they try their best to keep it in the family and look for distant relatives for marriages.
The isle of Gweal has been the foundation of House Gardener for centuries, seeing as its solitude position and stray away from muggles is a key factor to why it was chosen in the first place. Myth has it that long ago, the ground was enchanted to provide the Gardeners with herbs and plants of the highest quality. The family also took into consideration the importance of remaining incognito from the muggle world, making sure that their lands remained invisible to the sight of such mere humans, the Gardeners proceeded to make use of the common muggle-repellent spell.
The Gardeners allied themselves with Grindelwald during his rise, supporting his foreseeing and morales against muggles. They believed that he was exactly what the wizarding world needed to become better and even more powerful than mere muggles. They actively participated in his meetings and tried to rally other pure-blood families to his cause. House Gardener also provided competent duellists that fought Grindelwald's wars. Still, at least three of the house's members died fighting throughout the entire campaign. They almost worshipped him and his beliefs.
During Voldemort's rise, however, they decided to switch sides and fight for what seemed right to the patriarch of the family, who was beyond following Gardener traditions. This historic change wounded the family deeply, having it split up in two different factions within the family causing hysteria and disagreement, which led to a quarter of the family being wiped out, due to Voldemort and his followers losing the war.
Backstory
Born to the head of House Gardener, the great wizard Edward Gardener, and his wife, the fair maiden Pryselys Gardener on the 13th of November, 2008, on a freezing, dark night, Eden is claimed as the heir and pride of his household for being born first, and, being a boy. Ever since he was a child, the boy has been groomed and educated on matters of leadership, diplomacy and most importantly, his intellect on magic - as is the tradition of the Gardeners.
As time passed by, and little Ed proved to be everything that his father ever wanted, the boy started to become draped in gold and given everything he asked for. As a reward for his efforts. Although it’s natural for every child to have a phase where they think the world revolves around them - Eden never matured from this stage and started to show a fussy, bossy attitude since the tender age of three.
In his later years as a child, Eden served as a ward to his auror aunt who specialized in teaching him the art of duelling. Throughout this phase, Eden learned a whole lot - to the point where he was even told about the Three Unforgivable Curses and what purpose they served. However, he never got to use magic in a practical manner as this could have led to disastrous ambitions. Everything was theoretical and his lessons also mostly focused on the formality and etiquette of duelling. This is in no way affected Eden's learning and prior to attending Hogwarts, he still had no clue about how to properly cast spells or perform simple magic.
His aunt was not the only person who accompanied him during these years...
The manor House Gardener live in also accommodates the ghosts of previous Gardeners who serve as ancestors to the current living members. It is said that they are kept alive through the usage of portraits as well. A room beneath the main grounds of the island is said to be entirely dedicated to them, with every member’s achievements and failures listed in ancient tomes, alongside with common details. This is where Eden met one of his very distant kin, who once ruled House Gardener. Eclystaphius Gardener, the cruellest the family has ever had. He had done far too many unspeakable things, to the point where his worst doings were erased from his tome. There was one evening where such details were exposed to Eden. There was talk of numerous wives and squib children that were immediately cut off the family line, repelling witch hunts and the kidnap of muggles used to broker a peace between the opposite sides. Such deals were never executed as promised, and if anything, the only executions that took place involved blood. That being said, Eden never got to hear the entirety of the stories as Eclystaphius kept everything short, but promised to reveal why these were important notions as Eden grew a bit older.

Relations
Gardener Household"The roots that bind us."
Edward Gardener, Father: The relationship between the father and the son, has been wounded, almost permanently damaged. After years of grooming his heir and only son, Lord Edward was of upmost disappointed to hear that his son ended up being sorted in Hufflepuff, and sees no reason to forgive this undeniable treason.
Pryselys Gardener, Mother: Since the day Eden was born, Pryselys has done everything within her power to raise a beautiful, perfect boy. Edward believes that she has spoiled the child and gives him every opportunity to think that he rules the world. Although this may be true, Eden now favours his mother only because he knows she'll accept him in any way.
Elaine Gardener, Sister: Elaine is four years younger than her brother. The two often got into trouble, mostly due to Eden's recklessness. Although he hates to admit it, Eden misses his sister and actually wishes for her to be enrolled in Hogwarts as soon as possible. So they can go on more adventures together, without risking getting caught.
Ecryslia Gardener, Sister: A babe of two. Eden hates children, especially those who cry a whole lot. Once, Ecryslia cried so much and so loud that he tried to jinx and mute her. But was fortunately caught before he could do anything of the sort. If there's one thing he doesn't miss from back home is her whining and stupid babbling.
Ericka Gardener, Aunt: Father's eldest sister. She lives with the rest of her family but is mostly away as she works as an Auror for the ministry. She is the one responsible for teaching the Gardener children the very basics of the art of duelling and has taught Eden a bit before he enrolled in Hogwarts, however, their dynamic is not the most affectionate and there's no denying that his aunt is rather estranged with her siblings.
Elwyn Gardener, Uncle: A quiet, bitter man who envies his own brother for everything that he has. Said to be the unluckiest man alive because of his never-ending trials and misfortunes. Eden rarely ever speaks to him and when he does, he gets scared.
Philis Gardener, Cousin: A simpleton and even worse, a squib. Elwyn's son and one of his many unlucky events in life. His mother was locked in a tower for giving birth to him. The only reason why he's alive is because of Edward's mercy. Eden and his sister pick on Philis in their free time, and are often caught and (rarely) punished for it.
